Notice.— It 13 requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may fossar the SSIgm& tBre o£ tie person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and aworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, a! 8 Setters addressed to the^ ditor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded • on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. MUEDEE AND MALICIOUSLY WOUTMSMSstCr, Description of a man charged with causing the death of his daughter : WILLIAM CHORLEY, 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion!, dark hair and eyes, small and fair whiskers and moustache; dressed in dirty black suit and billycock hat ; he frequents common lodging- houses, and may apply for admission to casual wards ; he is a natiye of Wellingtou, Somersetshire, and has a relative, a baker, in Bristol.—- Metropolitan Police, R Division, March 5. Charged with the murder of his wife Margaret Jones, at 37, Ben Jolinson- street, Liverpool, on the 6th ultimo : HENRY JONES, a tramping navvy, from 45 to 50 years of age, about 5 feet 10J iuches high, sandy hair and whiskers, fair complexion, strong made, broad shoulders, rather thin face, grey or blue eyes, rather long straight nose, and small mouth; dressed in drab shooting coat, large pockets with flaps, large white pearl or bone buttons, double- breasted vest to match, with two rows of pearl buttons, dirty white slop over the vest, barrigan trousers, turned up at bottom of legs, short leggings uuderneath, heavy lace- up boots, and cap or billycock hat. He is a native of Shropshire or Welshpool. Has worked at Barrow- in- Furness and in Cheshire, and about a fortnight since was employed on a railway being made between Nottingham and Melton Mowbray ; he is well known to contractors and sub- contractors for the con- struction of new liueS of railway. Her Majesty's Secretary of State far the Home Department, has authorised the pay- ment of'a reward of £ 50 to any person giving such information and evidence as will lead to his discovery and conviction. Stolen from the person in the borough of Ilanley, during the parliamentary election on the 16th ultimo : A gold lever centre seconds stop Watch, gold dial, maker David Talke, Market- street, Manchester, No. 26393. Also a silver lever hunting Watch, No. 4646, maker J. H. Jackson, Tunstall. Information to be given to Chief Constable Williams, Police Office, Hanley, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, March 8. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Description of JAMES WARD, charged with bur- glariously breaking and entering the dwelling- house of James Kings, of Cradley, on the night of the 11th ultimo, and stealing a quantity of Articles, since recovered : about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stoutly built, curly hair, and whiskers meeting under the chin; dressed in grey coat and vest, cord trousers, and white hat; generally works as a mason's labourer, and is a native of Worcester. Information to be given to Superintendent Harwood, Bromyard, Here- fordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension ; and his photograph can be had on application.— Bow- street, March 12. During the night of the 10th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. David French, Chatham, was broken and entered, rnd stolen therein : an electro- plated cruet Stand, with seven compartments ; two Tops of bottles ; two silver tea Spoons, marked ' J. M. F.'; a meerschaum Pipe ; and a pair of Wellington Boots, lately clumped, marked ' No. 3' inside of tops, which the offender is supposed to be wearing. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Kent Con- stabulary, Chatham, Kent,— Bow- street, March 12. Two pieces of brown beaver Cloth, each 2 J yards long. About twelve woollen Shirts, men's size, assorted stripes aud checks, lined across shoulders with unbleached cotton cloth, all pearl buttons. Two check wiusey Shirts, boys' size. Entrance'effected by back door and door post being burned by some means, so as to expose the lock bolt, which had been then forced open by a piece of iron resembling an old plough coulter, and an inner door appears to have been forced open by the same weapon ; footprints of several parlies were observed in the snow at the back of the premises, and a spring cart or other light machine is believed to have been employed in the removal of the property. About 12 p. m. on the 27th ultimo a man, dressed in. dark clothes, and wearing a large muffler concealing his face, was seen in a close near shop back door, was casually spoken to, and replied with Irish accent. Between 7 and 9 p. m. on the 5th instant, the Railway Tavern, Higham, was entered and stolen about ,£ 46 ; a double- case 1 silver Watch ; a large- sized gold Brooch, formed four rings linked together : a pair of gold Ear- rings, to match brooch; a large gold Brooch, centre blank for photo ; one small gold Brooch, set round with rubies ; one plain Brooch, centre blank; and two gold Torquise Rings, ladies' size. Absconded on the lst instant, from Liverpool, charged with embezzliug .£ 5,000 : EDWARD JOHN BARRY, cashier to a firm of timber brokers, a native of Liverpool, from 34 to 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, rather stout, square shoulders, full face, small lump on right eye- brow, left eye shot out, gunpowder ma'ks over the face, more particularly on left cheek and nose, also under left eye, has a glass eye, wears blue spectacles, red- brown hair, parted in the centre, and whiskers and moustache same colour. He walks erect, and is of gentlemanly appearance ; and dressed in an Ulster overcoat. .£ 100 reward will be paid by his employers, viz, £ 50 for his arrest, and the remainder for the recovery of the money, or in proportion to the amount recovered.
