Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it ie desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Fame is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all tetters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forres 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Found in a cesspool at Old Accrington, Lancashire, on the 5th instant, the dead body of a full- grown newly- born male Child. At the coroner's inquest a verdict of Wilful Murder was returned against some person or persons • unknown. Information to be given to Superintendent Alexander, Burnley, Lancashire.— Bow- street, February 12. On the 27th ultimo, a newly- born male Child was found on the footpath in Marygate, wrapped up in an old cotton chemise and an old grey alpaca dress skirt. At the coroner's inquest, held on the 5th instant, a verdict of ' Wilful murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Hunter, North Biding Constabulary Office, Heworth.— Bow- street, Feb. 10. silk Skirt ; ten fancy striped Shawls, blue, scarlet, black, and grey stripes, with colours; eight black scarf Shawls, with silk fringes; six or eight dozen silk Scarves, black, white, aud coloured, both plain and figured ; several ends of black silk Velvets; several ends of coloured velvets, cerise, blue, diab, and green. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person or persons as will give information leading to the apprehension of the offender or offenders and recovery of the Property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. During the night of the 12th instant, the office at the Cassop Coal Company, was broken into, and stolen therein : a dark grey Overcoat, long laps, pockets behind ; a blue cloth Overcoat; a black cloth Coat; two pairs of blaak cloth Trousers ; three black cloth Vests ; a pair of dark Trousers, with white spots : a black cloth Suit, much worn ; a light grey tweed Suit; a pair of dark grey tweed Trousers; a double- breasted dark grey tweed shooting Coat ; four pairs of Swandown DrawPrs ; a pair of elastic- side Boot3, nearly new ; and three pairs of Stockings. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary, Durham.— Bow- street, February 15. During the night of the 5th instant, the school cottage at Leighsinton was broken and entered, and two clergymen's white Surplices, the property of the Rev. S. Shephherd, of that parish, stolen therein. Information to be given to Superintendent Checketts, Police Office, Upton- on- Severn, or to Acting Inspector Turner, Great Malvern, Worcester- shire.— Bow street, February 12. Shirt, much worn ; and a pair of lace- up Boots, nearlv new, with perforated toe- caps. By a man who lodged in tbe house 3 nights : from 27 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, which were very short, blind of the left eye, but not to be observed, unless looked close into ; he states that he is a native of Sheffield ; dressed in a grey mixture jacket, dark vest, woollen cord trousers, nearly new, aud the stolen boets ; has been working in a stone quarry, at Neanton, which place he left on the 13th instant, he may now be wearing the whole of the stolen property, and may be found working at a farm- house or quarry. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Walmsley, or to Inspector Nicholson, North Biding Con- stabulary, Thirsk.— Bow- street, February 19. Absconded on the 13th instant, stealing £ 97 7s. Gd. Cash ; and three Cheques, for £ 23 16s., £ 2, and lis. 6d. respectively, the monies of his - employer : a man, 20 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, cut short, blue eyes ; dressed in dark clothes, cardigan jacket, and cap with peak. Known at Brighton.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, February 17. Description of GEORGE WEBSTER MOSS, charged upon a warrant with stealing twelve pieces of Cloth, late a stock keeper in a cloth mill, in Leeds : he is 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, sandy beard and moustache, fresh complexion, full face, high forehead, and of good address; dressed in a blue Chesterfield overcoat, velvet collar, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Leeds, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, February 17. Stolen between 9 p m. on the 11th, and 8 a. m> on the 12th ultimo, from the house of Mr. James Kings, in the parish of Cradley, several articles, since recovered. Stolen from the person at Worcester, on the 16th inst., a silver Geneva Watch, enamelled dial, No. 7463. Informa- tion to be given to the Worcester City Police.— Bow- street, Febrwry 19. Stolen on the 3rd instant, at ll- 20 p. m.. from the person of William Whitmore, while on his way from Diss, to Palgrave : a Ritie, marked ' 8th Norfolk, 34." By two young men, about 5 feet 6 iuches high ; supposed to be dressed in short monkey jackets, and low- crowned hard hats. Information to be given to the Police, Palgrave, Suffolk.— Bow- street, February 10. February 19. Left at the Fleece Hotel, Cheltenham, on the 24th ult. : a bay light cart Mare, 7 or 8 years old, 15 hands 1 inch high, small white star on forehead, white streak down nose, a few white hairs on off fore fetlock, white near hind fetlock, tail cut off even with hocks ; double- reined Bridle with rusty bit; and a common Sadule with old girths. By a man between 30 and 40 years of age, medium height, dark whiskers, aud had the appearance cf a farmer. It is supposed that the mare aud bridle and saddle have been stolen. Stolen on the 4th instant, from Hounslow : a bay Mare, 15& hands high, and a dark blue spring Cart, containing a drab livery Coat.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, Feb. 10. Absconded from Grittleton, Wilts, on the 11th instant, charged with embezzling Money belonging to his master, Mr. John Elsip, baker, of Grittleton, and for whose appre- hension a warrant has been granted : ADAM TOWNSEND, a native of Studley, near Chippenham, about 20 ycrs of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark eyes, light hair, face much freckled, lost front tooth ; dressed in cord or black cloth trousers, with stripes down the sides, soft black jimcrow hat, and old brown livery coat, with gold coloured buttons, aud side- spring boots. He may probablj- enlist in the Army. Information to be given to Superintendent Wiltshire, Chippenham, Wilts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Feb. 17. Description of THOMAS GEORGE, charged on a warrant with stealing two Bags ( one black linen, the other slate- colour), containing £ 4 13s. 9d., also an office Key, belonging to Mr. Ludd Christian, of No. 17, Prince Albert- street, Brighton, Accountant, to whom he had been clerk : BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 11 p. m. on the 14th and 7 a. m. on the 15th instant, the dwelling- house of Joseph Crump, at Capel Cross, in the parish of Horsmonden, was broken and entered, and there was stolen therein : a pair of heavy lace- up Boots, five TOWS of round nails, and much worn across the ball of foot. Supposed by a man and a boy: the man about 55 years of a « e, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark complexion; dressed in long frock or coat, billycock hat, and lace- up boots ; the boy is about 15 years of age : they are supposed to sleep in out- buildings. Stolen by means of breaking into the shop of Mr. Clapson, grocer and draper, Brenchley, Kent, during the night of the 15th instant: three pairs of men's drab cord Trousers, some stamped ' Cooper, Croydon,' in waist, five pairs of men's heavy lace- up Boots, two orange- coloured silk Pocket- hand- ierchiefs, a cotton ditto, about 6 lbs. of loose Tea, mixed, two |- lb. packets of Tea, 1 lb. of Tobacco, two loaves of Bread, - 3s. 6d. in Coppers, and a shopman's white coarse Apron. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Police • Court, Tunbridge, Kent.— Bow- street, February 17. During the night of the 8th, or early on the morning of the 9th instaut, the house of Mr. Odell, farmer, in the parish of Bengeo, was entered and the following articles stolen therein : a youth's grey suit of Clothes, the jacket marked with the letter ' A.' iuside the collar ; and a brown Overcoat, with brown velvet collar, the whole nearly new. Stolen by means of house- breaking, during the night of the 10th or morning of the 11th instant, from a warehouse in Leeds : one end about 20 yards of black Silk, violet edge, 18 inches wide ; one piece about 90 yards ditto, 22 inches wide ; one end about 40 yards of blue aud white Silk, violet edge, 23 inches wide ; one end about 40 yards violet and white Silk, violet edge, 23 inches wide ; two ditto, one about 40 yards, the other about 50 yards, of ditto, ditto, both 24 inches wide; three pieces of Irish Poplin, each ^ 16 yards long, Stolen during the night of the 3rd instant, from a field at Brentford : a dark brown Hcrse, 15^ hauds high, clip on ' about 24 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, wither, near hind shoe oft.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, blue eyes, small light moustache, no whiskers, and very dark February 10. ! hair cut very short ; dressed in a long black overeat, drab trousers, black oxford hat, and blue necktie with white spots ! and a silver horseshoe pin in it. BINNS, alias BILLY GO DEEPER, Ja miner, 40 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, proportiouately built, light brown hair, clean shaved, eyes and cheeks rather sunken, slightly round- shouldered, carries his head forward when walking, awkward gait, and takes very long strides ; dressed in au old dark reefer jacket, moleskin trousers, imitation bedford cord waistcoat, strong lace- up boots, aud dark cap ; he has worked on most public works in Cleveland and is well known there, and has alsojworked on public works in Lincolnshire. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Metcalfe, Malton, or to Inspector Milner, North Riding Constabulary, Kirby Moorside.— Bow- street, February 19. Stolen on the 14th instant, from the dwelling- house of Joseph Dunn, of Portobello, in the township of Willenhall : a silver verge Watch, No. 4124 ; a pair of Stockings and a flag Basket. By a man who took lodgings at Dunn's house, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, sandy hair, cut very short, very long thick sandy whiskers, meeting under the chin, top lip very thick, and gave the name of GEORGE HOWERS ( supposed fictitious) ; had on a very low hard hat, dark cloth jacket, with pockets each side, dark striped vest, and clogs. Absconded on the 2nd instant, embezzling £ 6 13s.: a man, 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, dark hair and whiskers, and turning grey ; dressed in black frock coat and vest, brown overcoat, dark mixture trousers, aud high black hat. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, February 19. Stolen from a dweiling- house in Thirsk, between 10 p. m. and 6 a. m. on the 15th iustant: an old black cloth coat, snort laps, and outside pockets ; a pair of light drab cloth Trousers and Vest, with brown stripe down side of leg, mended on one colours black, Navy blue, and drab ; a black quilted J knee; a dark woollen Shirt; a blue and white striped cotton Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- street, February 15. Absconded on the 4th iustant, haying embezzled a large sum of Money : JOHN NENDICK, late cashier to a firm of railway carriers in Sheffield, about 28 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion and eyes, with well marked eyebrows and long eye lashes, black hair and mous- tache, slight whiskers, medium build, has rather a harsh voice, and a rolling gait; he is a native of Norton, near Malton, Yorkshire ; dressed in a dark snuff- coloured suit and a low- crowned felt hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Central Police Office, Sheffield, Yorks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 15. Absconded from Thirsk on the 6th instant, charged with stealing a Spade and a pair of Pruning Shears, which have been recovered : a tramping gardener, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, turning grey, rather bald on top of head, stoutly made, is supposed to be a native of the neighbourhood of London, is very talkative, and very fond of drink ; dressed in a long brown coat with blue pilot jacket underneath, old dark trousers, and black billycock hat with sharp top ; he is a good workman, frequents common lodging- houses, is most likely to be found at some nursery, has woiked at almost every nursery in England, and is supposed to be well known at Darlington, Catterick, York, Harrogate, and Beverley.
