Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the perBon requiring or tending the same, and all applications in • reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is gives, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all l. etters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwiso the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertioh in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of JOHN MORAN, against whom a warrant has been issued, charging him with the wilful murder of Charles Langley, alias Rough Charlie, who died on the 2nd • instant, from the effects of an assault committed upon him by Moran on the 26th ult., on which date Moran absconded : about ' 30 years of age, 6 feet 5 or 6 inches high, ruddy com- plexion, round features, brown hair, cut short, scar on left chcekbone, and clean shaved ; dressed usually as a horse dealer, which occupation he follows ; he is well known at the principal markets and fairs in the kingdom, and has also been engaged in England and Belaud as a trotting match rider. It is supposed that he will endeavour to emigrate. Information to be given to Chief Constable Glossop, Police Office, Birmingham.— Bow- street, December 9. the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders shall receive £ 50 reward, on application to Chief Constable Stainsby, Sunderland, Durham.— Bow- street, December 7. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on the evening of the 1st instant: a Bag, containing £ 43 12s. 3d. in Gold, Silver, and Copper; a £ 5 Bank of Eugland Note ; a Cheque for £ 52 8s. 4d., drawn by Little and McClean, on the Ulster Banking Company, Belfast, in favour of Hutton and Com pany, endorsed by Hutton and Company, No. A 50882, November 26th, 1874. By two men, between 20 and 30 yrs. of age, one 5 feet 9 inches high, the other about 5 feet 6 ins. high, and had the appearance of labourers. Information to be given to Chief Constable Stainsby, Detective Office, Sunderland, Durham.— Bow- street, December 4. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 8th instant, the dwelling- house of John Porter, farmer, of Fletching, Sussex, was broken and entered, aud stolen therein : a silver table Spoon, marked ' W. E. J.'; a plated Fork, marked ' P.'; a double- barrel Gun ; a pair of worsted Gloves ; a common clasp Purse, containing Half Crown; a cigar Box, containing a few Cigars ; a quantity of cooked Meat; a small flitch of Bacon ; and a brown alpaca Umbrella. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, Sussex, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, December 11. J. Boon, Ealing, was broken and entered and stolen tberefca : a black dress Coat, half worn ; a lady's Work Box, inlaid on top and front with two stripes of light- coloured wood. Also, stolen on the following night, from the cottage of Thoe. Stroud, of Ealing: an old- fashioned open face silver verge Watch, with silk Guard attached by a gold Ring, and two common Keys. Information to be given to Superintendent Troke, Hants' Constabulary, Lyndhuret.— Bow- street, December 7. Stolen on the 2nd instant by oreaBS of housebreaking from a cottage on Orielton Mountain, in the parish of Monkton, Pembrokeshire, the property of William Phillips : a blue cloth monkey Jacket, single- breasted, horn buttons ; a dark cloth Vest, with pieces of velvet let in under the arms ; a pair of dark brown cloth trousers, black stripes through it; a bowler hat; and a pair of boots, nearly new. Supposed by a man who on the previous day deserted from the 1st Batt. 9th Foot at Pembroke Dock : about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, light hair, slight figure, no whiskers or moustache, and is supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes. Information to be given to Chief Constable Stokes, Haverfordwest, or to Superintendent Thomas, Pem- broke.— Bow- street, December 7. The man suspected of burglariously breaking and entering the dwelling- house of Mark Tyler, Callington, labourer, on the 23rd, and advertised iu the Police Gazette of the 25th ultimo, was committed on the 3id instant, to take his trial at the next assizes to be holden at Hereford, for the same offence.— Bow street, December 4. FORGERY. Charged on a warrant with forgery and embezzlement of upwards of .£ 400 : TIMOTHY PRICE, a clerk, 23 years of age, 5 feet 9 iuches high, very light hair, no beard or whiskers, dimple iu the chin ; dressed iu black and mixture check suit, black billycock hat, and long blue- black witney overcoat, with velvet collar ; he lately resided at 10, Victoria- street, Hulme, aud left Manchester on the morning of the 28th ultimo; he will probably endeavour to leave the country. A reward of £ 20 will be paid upon his apprehen- sion and recovery of the money, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given at the Detective Office, Cheapside, Manchester.— Bow- street, Decembet 7. Charged on a warrant with forgery, FREDERICK WILLIAMS, late of 48, St. Thomas's- road, Seven Sister's- road, Holloway : he is 26 years of age, 5 feet 7| inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, slight moustache, no whiskers or beard, and of respectrble appearance. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on the 3rd inst. : a silver lever Watch, No. 38425, cream- coloured dial aud centre seconds, has ' David Mather, 1870,' engraved inside the case. Also stolen from the person on the 30th ultimo : a silver verge hunting stop Watch, maker Wm. Pedder, Loudon, No. 1816. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Bolton- le- Moors, Lancashire. — B< » :> street, December 7. Stolen from a cattle- dealer at the Spotted Cow public- house, in the parish of Gate Fulford, during the night of the 2nd instant : a brown leather pocket Book, containing a Cheque for .£ 21 8s. 6d., drawn by Francis Smith ; five new £ 5 Bank of England Notes; aud thirteen other £ 5 Bank Notes. By a man, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, long thin face, dark bushey moustache, slender figure, and speaks with a North country dialect; dressed in long drab cloth coat, drab trousers, tight in the leg, and a pair of drawers, which had the appearance of buckskin ; lie will probably be wearing a pair of boots rather large for him, with clump soles, and cork soles inside, the property of another lodger ; his own boots were found in the bed- room where the notes were stolen from. Information to be given to Inspector Gibson, East Riding Constabulary, Escrick, or to Sergeant Burniston, Police Station, Aimer- terrace, York. — Bow- street, December 7. About 7- 30 p. m. on the 1st instant, Gilbert Turnbull • was violently assaulted on the Hendon Valley Road, Bishop, wearmouth, and robbed of a Bag containing £ 43 12s. 3d. in gold, silver, and copper Money, a £ 5 Bank of Eugland Note, and a Cheque for £ 52 8s. 4d., drawn by Little and McClean on the Ulster Banking Company, Belfast, in favour of Hutton and Co., and endorsed by them, No. A 50882, Nov. 26th, • 1874. Between 4 aud 7 p. m. on the 6th instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Mann, at Aylesbury, was eutered by means of false keys, and stolen therein : four old- fashioned Tea Spoons, marked ' C. W. M.' Also between noon and 8 p. m., the shop of Miss Stevens, at Aylesbury, was eutered by false keys, and stolen therein : a gold Pencil- case; a lady's imitation gold Guild Chain; 10s. in Silver and Copper; two Bottles, containing mixed Sweets ; and two Pork Pics. Supposed by two men, one from 45 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair and whiskers, and no moustache ; dressed in a brown over- coat, black trousers, much worn, and hat. The other 28 yrs. of age, about 5 feet 8 iuches high ; dressed in dark overcoat, black trousers and hat Both had the appearance of mechanics. Information to be given to Superintendent Denson, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- street, December 9. Cu the night of the 2nd instant, the house of Mr. W. Maulton, farmer, of Alkmonton, was broken and eutered, and stolen thereiu : a silver lever Watch, maker Davenport, Ashbourne, No. 5273, nearly new, has a piece broken off the hour hand, had attached a long German silyer Guard and steel Albert, cuib pattern, a Sixpence, 4d. Piece, two watch Keys, and a Shell ; a silver verge Watch, maker Niveton, London, with open face aud Arabic figures, it has also a piece broken off the hour haud, had attached a steel albert Chain, with a 4d. Piece, watch Key, and small Seal with green stone, of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the stolen property. Information to be given to Superintendent Whieldon, Constabulary Office, Ashbourne, Derby.— Bow- st., December 9. dressed in dark rough ovtrcoat, light brown trousers, and black billycock hat, with a piece of elastic attached to coat. Stolen during the night of 6th instant, from a meadow at Chevening, nc » r Sevenoaks : a brown mare Cob, 14 hands high, 5 years old, rough coat, and in good condition ; also a lighter brown Pony, 12 hands high, 5 years rid, white mark in forehead, a letter on one side, supposed ' F.', rough coat, in good condition. Information to be giveu to Superintendent O'Kill, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Keut.— Bow- slrtet, Dec. 9. Stolen about 10 am. on the 1st instant, from Fennel- street, Manchester : a bay borse Cob, about 14 hands high, and has a little white on off hind foot; a Gig. painted black, with fine lines of light brown or yellow, on four springs; a set of silver- mounted Harness ; a whip and two Rugs, one of them black on one side, and a leopard on the other. By GEORGE SANT, IS years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale; dressed in black c'oth clothes, and black hat ; he has been a waiter in public- houses in Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, and most of the principal towns in England. Absconded from Rotherham, on the 7th instant, charged on a warrant with embezzling several sums of Money, the A reward of £ 1 will be paid on conviction property of John Newton Mappin, of Rotherham, brewer : a cashier, about 46 years of age, 5 feet Si inches high, ruddy complexion, rather stout build, hair turning grey, very thick, aud worn long, aDd bushy beard, partly grey ; generally wore a blue topcoat, aud black aud white plaid muffler. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Gillett, West Riding Constabulary, Court House, Rotherham.— Bore- street, De- cember 11. Stolen between 5 15 aud 5- 45 p. m. on the Sth instant, from a stable near Hobb Hill, Saltburn- by- the- Sea, the pro- perty of Messrs. Pease and Company : two horse Rugs, one hood, aud one surcingle, one of the rugs has been torn near the middle and mended with blue worsted, the other has a hole in the corner, they are both grey iu the middle, and have blue aud red stripes at the sides, the hood is a light- coloured plaid, bound round with red. Supposed by tramps. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Prest, North Riding Constabulary, Guisborough.— Boic- street, December 11. Absconded from Barnstaple on the 25th ultimo, WM. BRIGHT, charged with stealing Turkeys from a farmyard: he is 23 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, pale complexion, dark hair, no whiskers, mole on left jaw, and rather long Between 1 and 7 a. m. on the 4th instant, the residence of E. Ashworth, Esq., J. P., of Staghills, near Bacup, was broken and entered, and stolen thereiu : a round electro- plated Tea Urn, large size, about 2 feet high, flowered, with imitation roses ; a wash leather Purse, with imitation gold clasp, containing one .£ 10 and two £ 5 Bank of England Notes, and about £ 9 in Gold and Silver ; an electro- plated Tea Caddy, about 8 inches long, 4 wide, and 4 deep ; a silver Caddy Spoon, has a fox on handle ; five silver Napkiu Rings, about 4 inches in circumference, inch broad, raised edges, each ring has the initials of one of the family on the outside. £ 20 reward will be paid to any persou giving such informa- tion as shall lead to the apprehension aud conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property, on application to Superintendent Harrop, Bacup, Luncaohire.— Bow- street, December 7. During the night of the 27th ultimo the house of Edwin Q P O L I C E GAZETTE. December 11 features ; dressed in fustian trousers, brown overcoat, and wears a belt with a large clasp.; he is a miner, but has lately worked in the Steel Works, Swansea. A warrant is issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Head Constable Longhurst, Barnstaple, Devonshire.— Bow- street, December 11. Stolen from Birkenhead, on the 9th instant : a lady's black imitation seal- skin Jacket, trimmed with light imitation seal- skin. By a man about 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, no whiskers or moustache, dark complexion, medium build ; dressed in black frock coat, black and white check trousers, and felt hat. Information to be given at the Police Office, Town Hall, Birkenhead, Cheshire. — Bow- street, December 11. Absconded from Llanishen, near Cardiff, on the 21st ultimo, charged with stealing two Turkeys, the property uf Mr. Isaac Bryant, farmer, Llanishen : WM. CLARKE, alias BILL CATCH'EM, about 60 years of age, about u feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, dark brown" hair and whiskers, turning grey, large mouth, and splay- footed ; dressed iu old brown coat or slop, moleskin trousens, and clogs. He travels about selling olothes props, kc. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Matthews, Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, December 11. Description of a soldier named REUBEN HORNER, a deserter from the 1st Battalion 19th Foot, now lying at Weedon, who absconded from Northampton, charged with stealing on the 6th iustant, from a bedroom in the house of Henry Jackson, beer retailer, Woolmonger- street, a black cloth Jacket, with pockets outside, and lined with black lining ; a brown cloth Vest, with light- coloured stripes; a brown cloth Overcoat, with woollen plaid lining, pockets out- side, and a small hole burnt through the right pocket; silver Geneva Watch, seconds hand, glass cracked across, a piece of red flannel inside the case, No. 14433; aud a horse- hair albert Watch Guard, withhold plaited horn attached at the end; the property of Joseph Aldridge, a lodger iu the above house : Horner is about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, ronnd fell face, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed ic the stolen clothes. Information to be giveu to Chief Constable Keenan, Northampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 11. of age, riedium height, fair complexion, no whiskers, hair cut short, good teeth, thin faee,- downcast look,- he stated that he was a sawyer; dressed in a blue guernsey, dark trousers, patched on the knees and at the bottom of ' legs, and wore a hard hat; the woman - is about 20 years of age, short and stout, dark complexion; dressed in a black skirt, frill round the bottom, and pleated, tall black straw hat, with small feathers, a piece of Magenta- coloured Scarf for Shawl, blue comforter round neok ; she stated she belongod to Dartford. The watch has since been found pledged. Information . to be given to Head Constable Berry, Town Hall, Gravesend, IvenC.— Bow- street. December 9. Charged on n warrant with embezzlement, JOSEPH CLARK, a clerk, 18 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, black busby hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, and slender make ; dressed ( when he left Manchester on the 2nd ultimo) in a blue reefer coat, light trousers, and bla6k billycock hat ; he is a native < sf Leicester. A reward of £ 2 will be paid for such infortnation as shall lead to his apprehension. Infor- mation to be given at the Detective Office, Cheapside, Manchester, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 7. Description of a man, supposed to be a tramping car- penter, charged with stealing, on the 28th ult., at Greenham, a quantity of carpenter's Tool, which, with the exception of a 2- fooc rule aud a Basket, have been recovered : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, full red face, nearly clean shaved, rather dark complexion, and stoutly built; dressed in brown tweed overcoat, which he sometimes carries rn his aim, dark coat and vest, new corduroy trousers fitting tight to the legs, black hard round- cowned felt hat, and a muffler rouud his neck ; carried his left aim in a sling, comL posed of a blue check handkerchief, and was begging just prior to the larceny. Immediately afterwards, and when he had disposed of the stolen property, he was without a sliDg and using both arms. The brass slide of the 2- foot rule which has not been recovered, has been broken and an ivory slide substituted. He is supposed to be known in Reading or neighbourhood. Information to be given to Superintendent Bennett, County Police Station, Newbury, Berks.— Bow- street, December 7. Absconded on the 24th ultimo, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: S. W. CRAWCOUR, about 47 years of age, about 4 feet 3 inches high, black lank hair, small mous- tache, sallow complexion, very prominent nose, slightly bowed legs, broad and thick set, nasal twang in voice, which is also nrWniiv'"'^! rough. Description of Absconded from Chetwynd, on the 4th instant, charged with stealing lllbs. of Meal; and 18 Ibs. gof Potatoes, the property of J. C. B. Borough, Esq. : GEO. BAILEY, abou • AO years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark hair and com plexion, grey eyes, and blinks a little, thin face, right cheek rather swollen, and round shouldered ; he has worked at coal or iron works at Wednesbury, for the last 1 years he has beeu Newcastle - on - Tyne, on employed as foreman at Chetwynd Park. Information to be embezzling various sums given' to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, Salop, or to Sergeant Christie, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 9. Description of a woman who absconded from Redcar- by- the- Sea, on the 2nd instant, charged with stealing : one pair of gold Ear- rings, oval shape, about I inch long with a drop in the centre, and a small fringe at the bottom ; also one mauve- coloured rep dress Skirt, with flounce about one foot from the bottom, and trimmed with a darker mauve braid, nearly new, the property of Joseph Hutchinson, of the same place ; 27 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fresh com- plexion, dark brown hair, wears a wig and a stout figure ; j j j , j ^ marrie( j m was traced to Durha dressed in a light print dress, grey plaid shawl, black bonnet; v , • ' ', * . ^ s ' th_ on the ,() th ultim ' JOHN SMITS, who absconded from the 28th ultimo, charged with of Money amounting to £ 150, belonging to his employers, the Foreign Service Supply Com- pany, No. 13, West Grainger- street, and for whose appre- hension a warrant has been granted : he was secretary to the Company, and is a Dutchman, but has been in England upwards of 20 years, speaks with a slight Foreign accent, about 38 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, turning grey, full beard, whiskers, and moustache ( almost ginger), and prominent Roman nose ; generally dresses in plain grey tweed suit, but may be wearing a diagonal cloth frock coat, and blue ulster overcoat.
