Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or lending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. » #* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any aiticle in the POLICE GAZETTE, ali betters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forres 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MURDEK AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. A reward of £ 100 will he paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and j conviction of the four men who committed a murderous, assault upon the keepers and watchers on the Foxley Estate, in the parish of Bishopstone, on the morning of the 24th J ultimo, or a proportion of £ 25 for each per » on convicted ; I and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will1 advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to auy! accomplice, not being one of the persons who actually fired at and wounded the keepers, who will give such information j and evidence as shall lead to the conviction of the other offenders. FORGERY. Charged on a warrant with forgery, FREDERICK WILLIAMS, late of 48, St. Thomas's- road, Seven Sister's- road, Holloway : he is 2( 5 years of age, 5 feet 7| inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, slight moustache, no whiskers or beard, and of respectrble appearance. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, December 4. JOBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on the evening of the 1st instant : a Bag, containing .£ 43 12s. 3d. in Gold, Silver, aud Copper; a £ 5 Bank of England Note ; a Cheque for £ 52 8s. 4d., drawn by Little and McClean, ou the Ulster Banking Company, Belfast, in favour of Hutton and Com- pany, endorsed by Hutton and Company, No. A 50882, November 26th, 1874. By two men, between 20 and 30 yrs. of age, one 5 feet 9 inches high, the other about 5 feet 6 ins. hifh, and had the appearance of labourers. Information to be given to Chief Constable Stainsby, Detective Office, Sunderland, Durham.— Bow- street, December 4. Description of an Irishman charged with violently assaulting and attempting to rob George Jeffries, farm servant, at Whittington, near Chesterfield, at 2 p. m. on the 25th ultimo : about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, light or sandy hair, slight sandy moustache and whiskers; dressed in blue pilot cloth jacket, which was torn under the right arm, fustian trousers, red cotton necker- chief, soft black billycock hat, and navvy boots, all very much worn ; he has the appearance of a bricklayer's labourer, but has occasionally been employed as a collier or colliery labourer. Information to be given to Superintendent Carline. County Police Office, Chesterfield, Derbyshire.— Bo- w- street, Dec. 2. Stolen from the person, on the Shrewsbury Racecourse, on the 18th instant : A silver lever Watch, No. 3698, maker John Carter, 61, Cornhill, London. A small- sized silver Geneva Watch, No. 29688. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Shrews- bury, Salop.— Bow- street, November 25. Stolen from the person, in Brighton, on the 17th instant, by a respectably dressed man, apparently a mechanic : a gold lever hunting Watch, maker Bright. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- screet, November 25. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. The man suspected of burglariously breaking and entering the dwelling- house of Mark Tyler, Collington, labourer, on the 23rd, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 25th ultimo, was gommitted on the 3rd instant, to take his trial at the next assizes to be holden at Hereford, for the same offence.— Bow street, December 4. Stolen from a dwelling- house in the borough of Bolton, on the 28th ultimo, by means of false keys : a white flannel Petticoat, with two tucks on, broad hem, and broad baud with one button on ; a black and grey mingled woollen striped Shawl, with every other stripe worked with satin flowers ; a black satin skirt, with frills aud brown pocket in ; a red and black striped mingled woollen Shawl, torn a little on the border; a black alpaca Jacket, cut) out and basted, ready for making; and a new woollen aud cotton Skirt, peach aud white striped, and white band. The offence is supposed to have been committed by a respectable looking female, who has committed similar offences in the borough of Bolton. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 2. Between 6 and 8 p. m , on the 30th ultimo, the dwelling- house of Thomas Ryder, at Eastbourne, Sussex, was broken aud entered, and stolen therein : one lady's gold Geneva Watch ; a lady's gold guard Chain ; a reversible gold Brooch with Portraits of a man and a boy ( father and son) ; a silver- plated Mug, engraved—' A. G. R.'; a broken gold Ring, set with carbuncles ; six metal Tea Spoons ; four ditto Dessert Spoons; two ditto Table Spoons ; six ditto Forks ; a Bag, containing about 22s. in copper Monies ; 4s. iu Silver ; and a few foreign small Silver Coins, supposed to be French and Italian Information to be given to Superintendent Waghorn, Hailsham, or to the Police Seargeant, Police Station, Eastbourne, Sussex. - Bow- street, Decor, nber 2. During the night of the 24th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. E. Davis, School- lane, Moseley, was broken and entered and property stolen : A large silver Fish Carver. An old fashioned silver Milk Jug. A pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked—' E. M. D.' Auu a pair of silver Spoons, also marked—' E. M. D.' Information to be given at the Police Station, King's Heath, near Birmingham, Warwickshire.— Bow street, November 30. Between 1' 30 and 7' 20 p. m. on the 28th instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Rose Levey, No. 9, Hamstead- road, Handsworth, was broken aud entered, aud stolen theiein : 1 lady's gold Geneva Watch, with ' Bretton' engraved inside outer case. 1 Victoria gold Chain. 1 pair of bright gold Ear- rings. 1 bright gold Locket, with ' S. M. to A. P.' on it 1 buuch of gold Charms. 1 lady's gold half- hoop Ring, with turquoise and sparks. 1 lady's gold Locket, broken glass. 2 silver Forks, queen's pattern, marked ' L.' 4 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' L.' 2 silver Dessert Spoons, marked ' L.' 4 silver plated Spoons, shell pattern. 2 silver Dessert Spoons, kiug's pattern, one marked ' Raphele,' the other ' Mary.' 1 pair of Sugar Tongs. 8 silver plated Forks, with four prongs, four large, four small. 4 plated Table Spoons, shell pattern. 1 meerschaum Pipe, silver mounted. About £ 0 12s. 6d. in gold and silver Money. Information to be given to Superintendent Woollasfon, West Bromwich, or to Sergeant Steele, Police Station, Handsworth, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, November 30. The cottage of Charles Crump, of Button Bridge, was broken into between 9 a. m. and 4 p. m. on the 2Ut iustant, and stolen therein : a fustian Vest, with flaps over the pockets, nearly new ; a pair of Leggings, same material; a plum- coloured Shawl, faded, green and red border, with dee]) fringe ; a blue and white bundle Handkerchief ; aud a red aud white pocket Handkerchief. The cottage of Thomas Beech, of Button Bridge, was also broken into about the same time, and stolen therein : a dark rough blue Overcoat, with velvet collar, red woollen plaid lining, torn in the back, aud repaired with grey linsey ; a small black and white plaid scarf Shawl; and a browu aud white Neckerchief, cut in two. A man was seen near the place with a bundle, and is about 48 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 iuches high, light complexion, light brown hair, light sandy whiskers all round his face, and has a dent in his nose ; dressed in the stolen overcoat, mole- skin trousers, dark rough cap with earflaps tied over the top, aud lace- up boots, one boot slit open ; he is a sawyer, and it is supposed that he has been working Kt Wolverhampton aud other parts of Staffordshire. He left behind an old blue pilot monkey jacket, and he sold two Axes in the neighbour- hood, which are supposed to have been stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Collis, Cleobury Mortimer, Salop.— Bow- street, No- veiiwer 27. Stolen between 2 and 6 30 p. m. on the 23rd ultimo, from a dwelling- house in Salford, by means of false keys : 1 lady's gold hunting Watch, richly chased! with white face, No. 24219, maker Joseph Sewell, Liverpool. 1 gentleman's valuable gold Ring, set with a diamond in claws, open at the back. 1 gold Brooch, square shaped, the pin of which crosses it diagonally, with Pendant, which is attached to the right and left angles of the brooch by a small Chatn, both brooch and pendant are studded with turquoise. 1 pair of oval shaped gold Ear- rings, studded with tur- quoise, and gold fringe hanging from the bottom. 1 gold Chain, fiBe linked. 1 bright gold Necklet, with emerald in centre. 1 gold Brooch and pair of small oval shaped Ear- rings to match, the ear- rings are made to lock through, the ears, and the emeralds in each article were set in a frame of plaited gold. 1 pair of plain gold Ear- rings of French manufacture, each consisting of two round balls linked together, the upper one being smaller than the lower one, much worn. 1 small gold Chain, - with gold Locket in the shape of a heart attached, which is chased, has a blue diagonal stripe on one side and a black one en the other, both of which are almost imperceptible. 1 lady's gold Ring, with claret coloured stone, set in claws, much worn. 1 gold Ring, with hair inserted, has a small buckle with loose tab at the back. 1 set of masonic gold Studs, set with oval- shaped onyx: stones, with Masonic emblems on the- stones. And other miscellaneous Jewellery, consisting of old Rings, Pins, Studs, & c. £ 10 reward yvill be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or iu proportion thereto. Information to be given to Chief Constable Torrens, Town Hall, Salford, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 2. Stolen by means of skeleton keys, from the dwelling- house of Mr. John Jarratt, of Church- stieet, Brierley Hill, between 6 and 7' 30 p. m. on the 22nd instant : about £ 15 or £ 20 in Silver ; and a brown canvas Bag, with the words ' Bank of England, 1872 ' painted on it. Information to be given to Superintendent Mills, Brierley Hill, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, November 25. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a stable in Stockport between 2 and 4 p. m., on the 1st instant : a bay draught Mare, aged, 15 hands high, white hind legs, white star on face, a burn mark on biud quarters, aud walks wide behind ; also a set of Cart Gears, with two brass Plates ou saddle. £ 1 reward will be paid on recovery of the Mare, aud the apprehen ion and con- viction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Chief Constable Staples, Stockport, Cheshire.— Bow- street, December 4. Stolen from a field at Margaretting, on the night of the 1st instant, the property of Charles Justice : a black mare Donkey, 6 years old, white nose, rather short tail, and has never been shod or worked. Information to be given to Superintendent Dobson, Chelmsford, Essex.— Bow- street, December 4. Stolen from the Low Meadows, iu the parish of Alber- bury : a red Heifer, with white star on face, and a white spot on one hip, short horn breed, 2 years old ; the property of Mr. Benjamin Devonport, of Rowton. Information to be given to Superintendent Caswell, Couuty Constabulary, Shrewsbury, or to Police Constable Higgins, Westbury, Salop.— Bow- street, December 2. Supposed to have been stolen, on the night of the 18th instant, from a farm at West Ilsley, Berks: a two tooth South Down Ewe, has a dull red mark between the shoulders. Information to be given to Superintendent O'Neill, Wantage, or to Sergeant Blake, East Ilsley. Berks.— Bow- street, Nov. 30. Stolen from a field near Longreach, Dartford, between the 17th and 26th instant: a dark brown gelding Pony, very rough cont, about 12 hands high, 4 years eld, black legs, long tail, bushy mane, tip of one ear cut off, and has a brand mark on one side. Information to be giveu to Superinten- ded Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, No- vember 30. Found in the possession of a man in custody at Leeds, 19 Sheep, wethers and gimmers, with a blue spot on shoulder aud on rump, supposed to have been stolen : the man gives the name of WILLIAM REDSHAW, 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, dark swarthy complexion, dark hair aud whiskers, and has the appearance of a drover. In formation to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Leeds, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, November 30. Further information respecting the dark brown filly Cob, stolen from Stoke Ash, on the night of the 24th ultimo : it is about 13 hands high, rising J years old, star on forehead, sand crack in near hind foot, small knot ou middle of back, caused by the saddle, ai d tender to the touch, tail cut square above the hocks. Any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension aud conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the cob, shall receive two Guineas reward. Information to be giveu to Inspector Vincent, Police Station, Eye, Suffolk.— Boie- street, November 27. Found ou the 22nd instant, at Sandbach : two grey Colts, supposed to have beeu stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Rowbottom, Constabulary Station, Middlewich, Cheshire.— Bow- street, November 27. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded, charged with stealing £ 4 5a., the moneys of his employer: HARRY WILLIAM PLUMBRIDGE, a clerk and native of Nottinghamshire, 25 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fair complexion, blotched face, light brown Q P O L I C E GAZETTE. December 4 nair, small grey eyes, light whiskers, no moustache, thin make, and of respectable appearauce; dressed in brown clothes. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Pobioe, E Division, December 4. Absconded from Hornchurch, Romford, Essex, ou the 20th ultimo, charged with stealing nine bushels of Ouious, the property of Mr. Brooks Gooch, Hornchurch, farmer : THOMAS BLAKE, alias SMITH, about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 1 inches high, sau Jy hair and whiskers; dressed in pilot cloth jacket, cotton cord trousers, aud black billycock hat, all very old, and old lace- up boots ; he is a native of Hatlield- Peveral, Essex, aud is well known in the borough of Spitalfields Market. London. Information to be given to Superintendent Bridges, Brentwood, or to Inspector Pepper, Romford, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, — Bow- itreet, December 4. Absconded on the 9th ultimo, embezzling £ 5 : a man, 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, sandy hair and whiskers ; dressed in dark mixture coat and vest, black trousers, and deerstalker hat; he is a musician, and supposed to be travelling with a circus.— Metropolitan Pqlice, Y Division, December 4. Stolen between the 7th and 14th ultimo, in Wolver- hampton : a black silk Dress, plain skirt; a black satin ditto, scolloped trimming on body and down back of sleeves ; a puce silk ditto, a piece sewn on each side of skirt up the front, trimmed with small black bugles, body trimmed with puce fringe ; two alpaca Dress- pieces, 12 yards each, one light colour, the other slate do. ; three large diaper Table Cloths, flowered ; a pair of new twill calico Sheets ; a brown calico Shirt, not quite made ; a brown silk Umbrella, with figured black handle ; a blue and white coloured Muffler ; a blue cashmere Shawl, with Indian pattern border ; a light coloured cashmere ditto, with coloured border ; aud a lady's paramatta Jacket, richly braided. By HENRY JONES, 4C years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, whiskers nearly all sbaued off, aud light complexion ; dressed in a dark coat, light trousers, black and white mixture vest, and black billycock hat; he was formerly a clerk in the employ of the Great Western Railway Company, at their Goods Station in Wolverhampton and at Windsor ; he is a native of Bristol, has a relative iu Manchester, and is well known at No. 138, Gough- street or Suffolk- street, Birmingham. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire.— Law- street, December 4. A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of " FREDERICK WILLIAM CLIFF, who absconded from Hull, on the 21st ultimo, charged with embezzling the sum of .£ 22 17s. 9d., the monies of Mr. B. L. Wells, on the 8th July last : about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, hair and whiskers turning grey, bald on top of head, and has a lump over the left temple. £ b reward and all expenses will be paid on his apprehension, by Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorks.— Bow- street, December 2. Stolen during the night of the 28th ultimo : a carpenter's Tool Basket, containing a C- inch hard Plane, a brass- back Saw, a Hammer, and a pair of Pincers ; the property of Uriah Farrington, of Bourn, Cambs. By a tramping carpenter, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, hair and whiskers turning grey ; dresssd in a dark cloth coat, brown stripe trousers, with a dark stripe down the sides, grey and white shirt, dark coloured sailor's knot necktie, cap of dark curly material, with turned- up peak, and lace- up boots, much worn ; he says he has worked in the counties of Bedford, Lincoln, Hertford, and Northampton. Information to be given to Inspector Dade, Police Station, Caxton, Cambs. - Bow- street, December 2. Description of THOMAS DAVIDSON, watchmaker, charged witn stealing a Watch ; he absconded from Buxton on the 14th ultimo, taking with him a number of gold and silver Watches, 32 of which have been found pledged iu Manchester, Stockport, and Liverpool : he is about 40 years of age, 6 feet high, dark brown hair, whiskers, and mous- tache, stout, well built, broad shoulders, pale complexion ; dressed in a dark cloth suit, soft billycock hat, with broad brim, generally carries a satchel, of good address, has a Scotch accent, is a native of Coldstream, Berwickshire, and is known at Small River Till, Alnwick, aud Morpeth, his wife and family now reside in the Co- operative Buildings, Salford. Information to ba given to Inspector Lownds, Police Station, Buxton, Derbyshire, weo holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 2. Description of HENRY MAYFOR, a labourer, charged with embezzlement : 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, no whiskers, full face, and stout build ; well known at Hounslow and Chobham. Information to bo given to Superintendent Hayes, Windsor, Berks, who holds a warrant for hia apprehension.— Bow- street, December 2. Description of JOHN MORRIS, a Welshman, charged with stealing at Pontesbury, Salop, about 5 a, m. on the 9th instant, the property of Richard Price, a silver hunting Watch, No. 4010, maker R. Grant, London, has a dent on back of case, winds up in front, with a steel curb Chain and blue glass Seal attached, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 11th instant: about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, sandy curly hair and whiskers ; dressed in a brown cloth coat and vest, cotton cord trousers, and black billycock hat, or in moleskin jacket and vest, aud strong lace- up boots. He ia a native of Cefnycocd, Montgomeryshire. Information to be given to Police Constable Edwards, Pontesbury, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 30. Description of JOHN VICARS, charged upon a warrant with embezzlement: he is about 33 years of age, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, large brown beard, whiskers, and moustache, fresh complexion, ana slim build. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Leeds.— Bow- street, November 30. Description of GEORGE EDMONDS, alias GEORGE EDWARDS, who is charged on a waiTant with stealing a silver lever Watch from a dwelling- house in Sunderland, on the morning of the lGth instant; he sold the Watch on the same day at Chester le- Street, and got in exchange in part payment a silver Geneva watch, No. 54297, which he may attempt to dispose of : about 23 years of age, 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins. high, dark hair and complexion, and whiskers on cheeks; dressed in blue jacket, dark vest, striped trousers, elastic- side boots, and cheesecutter cap, and spcke the South Country dialect. Information to be given to Chief Constable Stainsby, Sunderland, Durham - Bow- street, November 30, Absconded on the 23rd instant, from Netley, near Southampton, charged with embezzling various sum* of Money, the property of George Harding, fly proprietor: FREDERICK SMITH, a cabdriver, about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, slight make, very little whiskers, rather sandy; dressed in light woollen cord trousers, brown coat, and striped livery waistcoat; he is supposed to be a g tive of Gosport, and last summer was driving a cab at Aldershot ; his proper name is supposed to be FLYNN. Information to be given to Superintendent Stannard, Hants Constabulary, Bitterne, near Southampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 30. Stolen from a hayloft at Cilerwisg Ystrad, during the night of the 25th instant, the . property of John Davies : a pair of woollen cord Trousers, with white horn buttons, nearly new ; and a pair of lace- up Boots, with four rows of nails in the fore part, heels and toes tipped, and single nail in centre of the heels. By a tramp, from 20 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high; dressed in a cap, dark coat, and the stolen articles ; he left behind a pair of Bedford cord trousers and a pair of lace- up boots ; in the pocket of the trousers was a piece of paper, with ' Messrs. Ensor, Sic.,' and the name ' Patter' upon it. Information to be given to Superintendent Lloyd, Llandyssul, Cardiganshire.— Bow- street, November 30. Absconded on the 21st instant, from the General Post Oflice, Burton- on- Trent, charged with stealing £ 20, the monies of Her Majesty's Postmaster- General : CHARLES WILLIAM STEWART, clerk and draughtsman, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6f inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion, smart appearauce, and has served 3 or 4 years iu the Royal Engineers; oreased in glengarry cap, aud dark clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Boweu, Burton- o » - Treut, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 27. Although £ 3 reward is offered for the apprehension of Deserters at the time, £ 2 only is payable at the expiration of 3 months, and £ 1 only at the expiration of 6 months from the date of desertion, and alter the expiration of a complete year, no reward will be paid, excopt under special circumstances.
