C. *** Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is give » , it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. A9 no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all letters addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of a man who was seen in the neighbourhood of Crewe, on the morning of the 25th or 2Gth ultimo, and who is suspected of the murder of James Beech, at Betchton, on the 23rd ultimo, and for the apprehension and conviction • of which murder a reward of £ 100 is offered : he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 inche3 high, stout made, light com- plexion, whiskers turning grey, and round features ; dressed in a straight dark- coloured jacket, a pair of old moleskin trousers, very dirty double- breasted moleskin vest, with flaps on the pockets, and old soft billycock hat, striped cotton shirt, saturated with blood, and an old plaid neckerchief, with blood on it. Information to be given at the County Police Office, Chester, or any Police Station in the county of Chester. — Bow- street, October 26. On the 23th ultimo, James Beech, was murdered in his house, at Betchton, Cheshire, by repeated blows from a bill- hook. At the coroner's inquest, a verdict was returned of * Wilful Murder' against some person or persons unknown. A reward of £ 100 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who shall give such information aud evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious . pardon, to any person not being the person who actually committed the murder, and who shall give such evidence aa shall lead to a like result. Information to be given to Chief Constable Smith, Chester, to Superintendent Rowbottom, Middlewich, to Inspector Hulme, Sandbach, or at any of the Police Stations in the county of Chester.— Bow- street, Oct. 23. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Thomas Rogers, of Brymbo, near Wrexham, on the 25th instaut, by means of breaking open the door : a silver lever Watch, engraved ' Wm. Rogers, 1871,' inside, maker Fletcher, Manchester ; a brown Overcoat, brown velvet collar, black and blue plaid ( cross bar) woollen lining; a pair of dark grey Trousers, with black stripe down sides. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, Police Office, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, October 30. Between 9 p. m. 24th and 12 noon on the 25th instant, the shop of Robert Frusher, shoemaker. Elm, was broken into, and stolen therein : a pair of new high top Shoes, small size, two rows of square- headed nails round outside of heels aud one row inside, two rows of round- headed nails round soles, and three in centre ; also a pair of elastic- side Boots, nearly new, with a row of five buttons at side. Information to be given to Superintendent Redding, Wisbeach, Isle of Ely.— Bow- street, October 28. Stolen by housebreaking between 1 and 6 a. m. on the 4th instant, from Wrotham Park, South Mimms : a gold hunter chronometer Watch, maker Tupman, outside case, one side worked in cyphers ' G. S. B.,' the other Earl's coronet and two Strafford's crest ; a plaiu thick double link gold fob Chain, Key attached ; a long platina watch Chain, very fine links; three old- fashioned gold Seals, one engraved an heraldic antelope statant, erm, horned, tusked, and hoofed, or ' Tuebor,' two very heavy with crests; two Orders of the Bath, and three others of different kinds ; a silver gilt Snuff Box; a gold tooth- pick Case, Earl's coronet and cypher thereon.— Metropolitan Police, S Division, October 28. On the night of the 23rd instant the saddle- room of the Shrewsbury Arms Hotel, Rugeley, was broken and entered, and stolen therein, the property of Burnell Udall, the ostler : a new patent horse- clipping Machine, Clarke's patent, stamped thereon, and the initials ' B. U.' burnt on end of handles; one pair of elastic- side Boots, which have been soled and hetled and stitched over too on right boot; 18s. in Silver. And one pair of groom's white kerseymere Breeches ; one black cloth Jacket ; two double bieasted cloth Vests— one blue with three pockets, the other of grey tweed; the property of Robert Woodings. Information to be given to Sergeant Johns, Police Office, Rugeley, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, October 26. 15 hands I inch high, white face, had on a plain riding Saddle and Bridle. By a private of the Army Service Corps, 24 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, blue eyts ; dressed in a dark tweed suit, round black felt hat; he is a labourer, sad a native of Hampshire. — Metropolitan Police, R Division, October 26. Stolen from the Queen of England meadows, Stamford Brook : a bay Filly, 2 years old, 14 hands high, white star on forehead, no shoes, black legs, mane hangs on near sidis, unbroken, very tame, and in good' condition.— Metropolitan Police, T Z>' \ sion, October 26. StoleJ during the night of the 23rd instant, from a meadow at Seplan Farm, Shoreham, Kent: a light bay gelding Cob, 14^ hands high, aboat 8 years old, in good con- dition, very fast, no shoes on ; and a roan coloured Colt, about 6 months old. Information to be given to Superin- tendent O'Kill, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent.— Bow- street, October 26. Description of a man who, on the 29th nltimo, obtained an aged Mare and a set of Harness on hire from a livery stable keeper at King's Lynn, and has not since returned with the property: he passes by the names of BARKER and BROWN, is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, black hair, moustache, aud beard, dark complexion, and the lower portion of his body is remarkably swollen from dropsy; dressed in a frock coat, black single- breasted vest buttoned up to the throat, black trousers, and black silk hat; he is a butcher and horse slaughterer, and a native of London. He was accompanied by his daughter, 20 years of age, and two sons, one is 18 years of age, the other 15 years. The mare i3 about 15 hands 2 inches high, broken kneed, and white spot on one hind leg ; the harness is old silver- plated ; brass rein terret on saddle. £ 1 reward shall be paid for his apprehen- sion, and a warrant is issued. Information to be given to Superintendent Ware, King's Lynn, Norfolkshire.— Bow- st October 26. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of THOMAS BROOKS, charged with embezzling £ 10, and who absconded on the 23rd instant, from Worleston, where he was employed a3 second horseman in a hunting stable : about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, small black whiskers, strong beard shaved off, full round features, heavy- eyebrows, and of respectable appearance ; he was formerly employed in a racing stable. Is accompanied by his wife, a smartly dressed young woman, of medium height. Infor- mation to be given at the County Police Station, Nantwich, Cheshire.— Bow- street, October 30. Absconded from Watlington, Oxon, on the evening of HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on the evening of the 28th instant, from a stable at Great Leighs : a dark chestnut Mare, aged, 14 hands high, black mane, and tail reaching to the hocks, star on forehead, the 27th instaut, charged witlTstealing 30s. 6d., the'monies of black spot on off hind quarter, off eye weak, scar on lid, off , Weedon Brothers, coal merchants, by whom he was tempo- hind foot white, chipped Knees, aud in good condition. Stolen from the person of Frank Palmer, on the roadside . at Rosliston, on the 24th instant : a German silver Watch, ' No. 17711' scratched inside the case, steel Chain aud Seal attached; a leather Bag, containing 15s.; a Pocket Knife, • with two blades, a piece of brass let in the haft; a blue cloth • Cap, with tabs tied over the top with black ribbon, and black ribDon band round ; and a white cotton Pocket- handkerchief, with black spots round the border. Stolen on the 15th instant, from the person of Henry Prichard, at the Newbury Michaelmas Hiring Fair : a silver hunting Watch, engine- turned, capped, and jewelled, No. 1848, maker Henry Pritchard, Newbury, and was deficient of glass and seconds hand when stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Goddard, Newbury Borough Police, Berks.— Bow- street, October 28. Stolen from the person at Coventry Races on the 21st instant: an open hunting silver Watch, engme turned, blue figures painted on case, white dial with black figures, ' E. W.' engraved inside case, No. 5492, and had a gold Albert Chain attached, graduated curb, with ' 9 c.' marked on each link, and gold Seal with blood stone. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Yarm, on the 19th mat., eight £ 5 Bank of England Notes, Nos. T13— 91,929, T 8- 51,501, D 42— 23,941, S 89— 59,470, B 29- 36,486, D46— 46,916, D61— 64,125, S13— 53,564; and a silver verge Watch, No. 36,929, maker ' T. W. Cade, Northallerton.' Essex.— Bow- street, October 30, Found at Saltby, near Birmingham, supposed stolen : a black thorough- bred Horse, aged, 15 hands high, weak on the forelegs, long tail, and white saddle marks. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Police Station, Aston Park, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, October 30. Description of a man charged with stealing a Horse, at Billingley, on the night of the 26th instant, ( horse recovered): he is 20 to 25 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair, slight dark mous- tache, and small tuft on chin, long face, and sulky looking ; supposed to be a native of Yorkshire; dressed in dark clothes, and billycock hat, and had with him an umbrella. Informa- tion to be given to Acting Inspector Blake, Barnsley, York- shire.— Bow- street, October 30. Stolen on the 14th instant, from West Ward : a cross bred red Heifer, with white face, in calf, marked ' J. Lock,' on horn. Information to be given to Superintendent Batty, Dorchester, Dorset.— Bow- street, October 28. Stolen from Stoke Ash, on the night of the 24th instant: a dark brown Cob Filly, about 13 hands high,- rising 4 years old, has a star on forehead, a sand crack iu near hiud foot, a small knot on middle of back caused by saddle, tender to the touch, tail cut square above the hocks, and shod about 3 weeks ago. Information to be given to Inspector Vincent, Suffolk Con- stabulary, Eye.— Boxo- street, October 2S. Stolen during the night of the 23rd instaut, from a field in the Upper Richmond- road, Mortlake : a black Mare, 8 yeais old, 14 hands high, mark from burn on near fide of neck, and is in foal. — Metropolitan Police, V Division, October 28. Description of WILLIAM GIBSON, charged with stealing a Horse on the 14th instant at Congleton, the pro- perty of George Ellis, of Nantwich : he is 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, grey eves, and light brown hair ; dressed in a moleskin or cord sleeved waistcoat and trousers; he goes about the country hawking earthenware and collecting old iron and rags with a horse aud cart. Information to be given to Head Constable Bohanna, Congleton, Cheshire, who hclds warrant for his apprehension.— Bcnc- street, October 26. Stolen on the 15th instant from Aldershot: a bay Mare, ' 1933' stamped on near forefoot, ' A. S. C.' on off one, made, walks erect, dark brown hair, and rather full whiskers meeting under the chin ; dressed in a long dark cloth jacket with large pockets, dark dirty cord trousers, old shoes, and dark bowler hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Seers, Police Station, Watlington, Oxon.— Bow- street, Oct. 30. Description of WILLIAM TURNER, charged with stealing on the 26th instant, from the slaughter house oi" Joseph O'Leary, butcher, Chepstow: 107lbs. of Fat ( since recovered). About 24 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, small dark moustache, flat or broken nose, cut cm top of head, and is a batcher by trade; dressed in a short blue serge jacket, grey vest and trousers, with stripe down sides, rather short in the legs, fur or imitation fur cap, and old boots. He is a native of Leicestershire, supposed to have relatives in Leicester, and is supposed to have bought a mackintosh at Bristol on the 26th instant. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Monmouthshire, Abergavenny ; to Superintendent Berthon, Police Office, Usk ; or to Inspector Ward, Police Office, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 30. Absconded, charged with embezzling 15s., the monies of the Newport and Isle of Wight Coal Company : EDWARD TOMLINSON, a carter, about 35 years of age," 5 ft. 7 or S ins. high, dark brown hair, slight whiskers, and pale complexion ; dressed in a blue pilot cloth coat, white slop aud blue guernsey under, dark cord trousers, and cloth cap with peak, all old and dirty. Information to be given to Head Constable Ross, Borough Police Station, Newport, Isle of Wight, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 30. Stolen on the 15 th instant, from the Pack Horse Inn, South Brent, Devon : an alpaca Umbrella ( recovered) ; also stolen, on the same day, from the Crews Arms Inn, Ugboro', Devon, the property of Mr. Thomas Langler, the landlord : a double- rein Bridle ( recovered), a grey flannel Shirt, a white flannel Shirt, and a calico Shirt ( recovered). All the above property was stolen by a man about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7i inches high, slight build, light complexion, light brown hair, has a moustache, a tuft of red hair on chin, sides of face shaved cleau ; dressed in grey coat and trousers, black double- breasted vest, and light soft felt hat ; this man was taken into custody at Totnes on the 16th iustaut, charged • with larceny there, but was discharged on the following day, he having the two stolen shirts in his possession at that time; lie left Totnes on the ISth instant, and is supposed to be 2 POLICE GAZETTE. October 30 making his way up the country. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Devon, or to Superintendent Dore, G Division, Devon Constabulary, Kingsbridge.— BouHtreei, October 30. Absconded from Maiden Newton, on the evening of the 20th instant, charged on a warrant with poultry stealing : FRANCIS STAPLES, a labourer, from 28 to 30 years of a « e, about 5 feet 8 inches high, ( lark Lair, pale complexion, thin face, little or no whiskers, and dark moustache ; dressed in dark jacket and trousers, and straw hat; belongs to the Army Reserve. Information to be given to Superintendent Batty, Dorchester, Dorset.— Bow- ttreet, October 28. Absconded on the 11th instant, charged on a warrant with larceny : CHARLES MILLS, a rative of Sliepperton, Middlesex, stableman : he is 20 years of age, 5 feet 2k inches high, fair hair, cut very short, no whiskers or moustache, very large round features, large hands, muscular build, akd slightly bow legged; supposed dressed in a doeskin coat, single breasted, and hard felt hat, which he wears at the back of his head ; he has been travelling with a conjurer, is very clever at card tricks ; may be found performing at puWio- houses. Information to be given to Superintendent Sanders, Dover, Kent.— Bow- street, October 28. Description of WILLIAM RYDE, alias MARTIN, charged on a warrant with stealing in March, 1873, a silver Watch, the property of the Rev. N. G. Armytage, of Frome : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slight active build, thin features, sunken cheeks, scar en one cheek, walks erect, grey eyes, and brown hair ; dressed in brown or grey clothes, trousers fitting tight. He served 10 years in the Hussars, • was formerly in service in London, where he is supposed to be at present, employed as a groom or an ostler. Information to be given to Superintendent Deggan, Police Office, Frome, Somerset, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 28. Description of JAMES SMITH, a miner, charged with stealing from Mrs. Eccleston, at Norton Canes, on the 21st of March last, a pilot Coat ( recovered) : about 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, dark hair and complexion, squints with left eye, impediment in speech, and two front teeth very large. He has been traced to Bucknall, Stafford- shire, and to Barnsley, Yorkshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Staffordshire Constabulary, Brown- hills Station, Walsall, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, October 28. Stolen fiom a dwelling- house in the borough of Middles- brough, on the 27th instant : an old- fashioned silver lever Watch, with an old silver Albert Guard and two Keys attached ; an old greasy blue pilot cloth Jacket, blue plaid linings, and about 8s. in Money. By a man, a lodger, who absconded next morning; about 25 years of age, 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins. high, sallow complexion, and dark, no whiskers, and deeply pockpitted. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesbrough Borough Police, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, October 28. Stolen on the 23rd instant, from William - street, Lowndes square : 109 Spoons, thirty- six Table, twenty- four Dessert, twenty- five Tea, twelve Salt, four Egg, two Mustard, four Gravy, one Marrow, one Apostle. 84 Forks, sixty Table ( some old- fashioned, end of handles turning wrong way), twenty- four Dessert, 6 Ladles, two Soup, four Sauce. 1 pair of Sugar Tongs. 1 Butter Knife. 1 large Teapo* and small Stand. Crest— some a lion's head coming out of a crown, with a ribbon and a Nova Scotia Badge, the others a spread eagle, with two heads and same badge. 1 Fish Slice. 6 Wine Lables. 1 Cream Jug. 1 Cup. 4 Mugs, one small, with handle, marked'A. N.;' one plain, marked ' FRED.' All silver. 2 gold Watches, one lever, maker Brookhouse, No. 2188, crest— a stork, ' R. C.' under crest on outer case ; one Geneva, maker Valentine, platinum face. 2 Seals on a gold split Ring, one a large gold, cairngorm, coat- of- arms, three falcons' heads and shield sup- ported by two eagles ; one cairngorm, with three sides, boy in a boat looking at stars, ' Si je te furds, Je suis perdu,' ' head of Socrates,' thistle, ' Wha daur meddle wi' me.' 1 large gold Finger Ring, coat- of- arms, box of hair inside, ' April 23rd, 1847.' 1 gold antique Ring, red cornelian stone, a man's head. 1 lady's Finger Ring, two opals and a diamond. 1 pearl and blue enamel Ring, opals and diamonds. 1 gold Breast Pin, ' Fox,' box for hair. 1 French Compass and Dial, silver, in leather case, initials ' C. F.' 1 carbuncle and diamond cross Brooch, a medallion, lava set in gold. 1 gold enamel link Bracelet, dark blue and white fastening, shape of a padlock. 1 small gold Ring, with a pearl. 1 pebble Necklet and two Bracelets, set in gold. 5 dark blue enamel Buttons, diamond in centre. 3 gold Shirt Studs. 1 gold coral Pin. 1 plain gold Pin. 1 silver Bread Basket, grape vine pattern. 1 silver Coffee Pot. £ 45 in Bank of England Notes, Nos. 2499, 2500, and 2502 to 9, all dated 20th Aug., 1874. £ 9 in gold. By a man 29 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pale com- plexion, clean shaved, hair ( parted on right side) dark brown, large ears ( standing out), and supposed to be a little lame ; dressed in dark clothes and high hat.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, October 28. Stolen in Chesterfield on the 27th instant, from a dwel- ling- house : a rosewood Workbox, containing an Oddfellows Scarf and a silver Thimble; a Writing Desk with some Papers in it, also a receipted Account for a sofa and table from M. Potts ; a pepper- and- salt short Coat with pockets at the side; and four Pawntickets for the following Articles : an Overcoat with pockets at the side, a short coat, pockets at the side, a pair of Ear- rings, and a auit of black Clothes. Also from a lodging- house on the morning of the 27th instant: a blue serge V est; a pair of tiausera, nearly new ; and a brown cord Vest, much worn. By tramp, about 60 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, short san,- Jy beard and moustache, slightly turnuag grej; dressed in a black coat and cord trousers, and probably the brown ooid vest, as he left his own behind, and wore a kind of naval cap with a brass button on each side. Information to be given to Head Constable Horne, Chester- field, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, October 28. Stolen on the 24th instant from Cecil- street, Strand : an old- fashioned open face lever Watch, ' Liverpool' on inside case at back; a gold curb Albert Chain ; a gold Locket, portrait of an elderly lady one side, monogram ' R. A. A. J.' and Coat- of- arms on the other; 2 rings, one gold Locket Coat- of- arms thereon, the other silver gilt. By a man, 19 years of age ; dressed in light clothes.— Metropolitan Police, E Divi- sion, October 28. Stolen from a dwelling- house in the borough of Sunder- land, on the evening of the 18th inat.: a gold lever hunting Watch, No. 33102, makers Rhodes and Son, Bradford, and £ 90 in gold and silver Money. By a German named LOUIS OTT or SCHNETZ, a pork butcher, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair and eyes, pale complexion, heavy dark eyebrows, scars on face and forehead, speaks broken English, is of dirty habits, and likeljr to emigrate. A warrant has been granted for his apprehension. Information to be given to Chief Constable Stainsby, Sunderland, Durham — Bow- street, October 26 Stolen on the 22nd instant from Garrick- street, Covent Garden : a half hoop diamond Ring, five stones, ' 382— N Y — B Y' scratched inside. By a man, 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, very broad set, short dark whiskers, and red spots on face.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, October 26. Absconded from Cleobury Mortimer, on the 20th inst., charged with stealing a lady's gold Watch, thin cases, has been repaired ; a silver Chain; two Pillow- cases ; a Box ; and two brass Candlesticks : EDWIN BEVAN, a cripple, walks with a stick, about 27 years of age, 4 feet 5 or 6 inches high, pale complexion, brown hair and whiskers round his face, a little bald on the top of his head, feminine voice ; dressed in dark grey jacket, brown ribbed vest and trousers, and black round hat; a shoemaker. He is 31 years of age, 4 feet inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, a cut on forehead, much hair on chest, and a native of Beenham, Berks. No. 259, who has failed to report himself at the Central Police Station, Newcastle- upon- Tyne, as required by the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871 : 29 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, cut mark on left cheek ; convicted on Dec. 22, 1868, at Glasgow Circuit Court, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude ; was liberated from Chatham Convict Prison, on licence, on the 7th September, 1874; his sentence will expire on the 21st December, 1875. He was convicted at Hereford Quarter Sessions on the 30th Dec., 1872, of housebreaking, and sentenced to 6 months hard labour and 2 years police supervision ( Office Register No. S 8965) ; he left Pontvpool on the 11th Aug., 1873, stating that he was going to Cradley, Herefordshire, to which place he did not go ; he gave himself up on the 23rd instant, for not reporting himself, and states that when he left Pontypool he went to the Sunderland and Carlisle Railway, and worked there about seven months, and while there he was called ' the Soldierthen he travelled with a woman, hawking laces, through Lancashire, Liver- pool, Birkenhead, and Oxfordshire, and was in that county in November last, thence to London, Chatham, Kent, and back to Birmingham, where he left the woman ; lie then returned into Oxfordshire, and was working for about 27 days near Bicester, grubbing up roots on some land where a house was to be built. His photograph will be forwarded on application to Superintendent Harwood, Bromyard, Herefordshire, to whom information may be given.— Bow- street, October 28. Description of a convict named JAMES MILLER, Reg. No. 1140, who has failed to report himself at the Police Station, Trowbridge, convicted on the 10th January, 1870, at Jamaica, of insubordination and pereonal violence, & c., and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude ; was liberated from Millbank Prison on the 10th ultimo : he is 42 years of age, 5 feet 7| inches high, fresh complexion, sandy hair, hazel eyes, scar on left side of knee, several scars on shoulders and back, rt. arm, neck, and face freckled, and It. arm amputated. JAMES HEAP, alias CRONSHAW, Register No. H 8067, who was liberated from the County Gaol, Preston, on the 17th May, 1873, and who is subject to police super- vision for 7 years from that date, has left Haslingden, with- out giving notice of his intention of so doing. He is by trade a weaver, 30 years of age, 5 feet 5i inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, moles on left arm and cheek, right eye pupil a little larger than the left. He was convicted at Preston Sessions of larceny, 9th April, 1873, and sentenced to 18 calendar months imprisonment. Also description of DANIEL HALE, discharged from Preston Gaol on the 15th instant, and who has failed to report himself at the Police Station, Burnley, where he said he was going : 25 years of age,' 5 feet 1 inch high, brown hair, swellings on throat, bald, scar on back of left hand and on left eyebrow, and blue cuts on back of left hand ; he was convicted of larceny at Preston Sessions on 16th Oct., 1872, and sentenced to two years imprisonment.
