DUBLIN, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1874. SCOTTISH POLICE. £ 20 REWARD. JAMBS RAMSAY and JOHN WILSON, alias James Finlayson, alias Bernard M'Diarmid, after described, who have been in custody in Greenock for several months past, and who have been each indicted to stand their trial at the Circuit Court of Justiciary to be held at Glasgow in the course of 10 days, on charges of theft, aggravated by previous convictions, made their escape from the prison of Greenock about 6 o'clock this morning, and are therefore now wanted on a charge of prisonbreaking, a Sheriff's Warrant having been granted for their apprehension. Ramsay was in custody for having stolen a watch from the premises of a working jeweller in this town, on 21th February last. He had been liberated from the General Prison at Perth a few days previous to committing the theft. He has been previously convicted of theft at the Sheriff and Circuit Courts at Glasgow, and at the Shfriff Court at Rothesay. Wils< n wis one of four pickpockets who were ap- prehended here for having, on 6th June last, jostled a lady on the stair leading to the Cathcart- street Railway Station, and abstracted her purse, containing a sum of money, from a hand- uag which she carried. He has been previously convicted— twice at Edin- burgh, once at Ayr, and once in Siaffordsh re. It is earnestly requested that every possible exertion be made by the Police to capture the offenders. Description of accused :— James Ramsay— aged 88 years, height 5 feet 2^ inches, a native of and resided the most of his life in Glasgow; hair, dark brown; light moustache and whiskers ; eyes, brown ; complexion, fresh ; marks, pockpitted ; occupation, tailor; dressed when he absconded in a black felt hat, light gray coat, gray trowsers and vest, elastic- sided boots, and dark overcoat. John Wilson, alias James Finlayson, alias Bernard M'Diarmid— aged 25 years; height, 6 feet 6 inches; born and most of his life in Glasgow; hair, brown; reddish whiskers, beard and moustache ; eyes, blue; comple » ion, pale; occupation, hawker; dressed when he absconded in a black felt hat, dark gray tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, elastic- sided boots and dark pepper- and- salt overcoat. A reward of £ 20 will be paid for the apprehension of these men, being £ 10 for the apprehension of cach. It is de= ired that any information which may be of use in tracing the accused be communicated, without delay, to Robert Blair, esq., Procurator- Fiscal, Greenock, or to the subscriber, either of whom will, on hearing of the apprehension of the accused, at once despatch on officer for them. WHEREAS a Sheriff's Warrant has been issued for the apprehension of Alexander Bruce Ross, District Manager in Glasgow for the Briton Medical and General Life Association ( chief office in Scotland, 18, Queen- street, Edinburgh), charging him with having, on 19th inst., absconded, embezzling the above sum of money belonging to said Insurance Association. Description— About 82 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, brown hair, brown whiskers, beard and moustache, not very long, reddish cheeks, longieh straight nose, sharp features; dressed in dark clothes, generally frock coat ari3 dress hat, gentlemanly, smart business- likc appearance. His residence is at Brounlea, Blantyre, near Hamilton, where his wife and family presently are. He is a native of Ayr. Police officers are requested to make particular rcbjfid inquiry for the accused, and those at are requested to make inquiry at shipping offices and search outward- bound vessels, and if found, to apprehend and communicate with the subscriber. WANTED, on a Warrant, charging him with having stolen a considerable sum of money from the Savings Bank in Hawick, Andrew Scott, lately an accountant in Hawick. The accused is a native of Hawick, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches in height, fair hair, light gray eyes, fresh complexion, whiskers fair and thin on cheeks and allowed to grow un- ler chin ; has marks of ulcers or running sores on neck; has short and badly formed feet, and one of them ( supposed the right) is drawn up at heel, causing him to walk on his toes and limp slightly. The accused, who is of dissipated habits and much addicted to drink, was dressed in a dark tweed suit and black felt hat when he absconded. A reward of £ 10 is hereby offered in the name of the Sheriff of Roxburgh, Berwick and Selkirk, to any person who shall, give such information to the Procurator- Fiscal of the county as shall lead to the apprehension of the accused; and a further reward of £ 10 is also offered by the trustees of the said bank, payable on apprehension as aforesaid. DESCRIPTION of John Kelly, who states he is a native of Athlone, and who stands charged with having, on the 1st September, 1874, at Corrofin, in the barony of Inchiquin, parish of Killinaboy, w. th a tramp who has absconded, burglariously entered the shop of Mrs. Ellen Foley -.— Intelligent appearance, large forehead ; hazel eyes, straight nose, lresh com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark brown hair, wore beard and moustache, cheeks shaved ; wore a black cap, dark round coat, gray trowsers, dark vest; states he served in the Westmeath Militia. He is at present in Ennis Gaol, awaiting trial at the Quarter Sessions of Ennis on 23rd proximo, and is supposed to have committed crime elsewhere. Corrofin, September 80, 1874. ( 3151 o.— 6219.) DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who slands charged with having, on the 26th September 1874, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Clonmel, waylaid and robbed James Kavanagh of £ 20, viz— a £ 10 note and two £ 5 notes of the Bank of England:— Large strong hairy hands, swarthy complexion, long thin face, stout make, 6 feet 9 inches high, between 35 and 40 years of age, dark hair, tuft of black hair on chin, no whiskers; wore a round black hat, blue knitted jacket. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Leahy, native of Tureena- grea, county Kerry, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 27th inst., in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Nohavaldaly, stabbed William Kelliher:— Thick nose, dark complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 25 years of age; wore a low black hat, black coat, gray trowsers. DESCRIPTION of John or James Mullane, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of July, 1874, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Imphrick, hit James Fisher and knocked him down, thereby causing his death:— Blue eyes, rather cocked nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, sandy hair. DESCRIPTION of a tramp, name and native place unknown, who on the 28th September, 1874, in the barony of Tirhugh, parish of Donegal, was com- mitted as a vagrant, refusing to give a satisfactory account of himself, and who is strongly suspected of having been concerned in the commission of crime elsewhere:— Pockpitted, high shoulders, appears to have been drilled, intelligent, and good address; brown eyes, regular nose, swarthy com- plexion, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 42 years of age, dark brown hair, wears all his beard and moustache; wore a low hat, old brown frock coat, canvas trowsers. This man at first gave the name John Smyth, a native of Cashel, but the accuracy of this statement there is good reason to doubt. The school dress, all with Reformatory staijip, consists of— corduroy trowsers and blue checked shirt, with Reformatory buttons. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of William Ross, native of Ballina- muck, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of July, 1874, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killoe, and county of Longford, seriously assaulted Michael Cassedy, by kicking him in the abdomen, from the effects of which be died on the 8th instant:— Right leg lowed at the knee, caused by a fracture ; holds hishead to one side, has a peculiar expres- sion about the eyes ; regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, very black hair; wore a low hat, gray frieze coat, dark trowsers, frieze vest.
