All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulal f. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, B. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 1874. SCOTTISH POLICE. £ 20 REWARD. JAMES RAMSAY and JOHN WILSON, alias James Finlayson, alias Bernard M'Diarmid, after described, who have been in custody in Greenock for several months past, and who have been each indicted to stand their trial at the Circuit Court of Justiciary to be held at Glasgow in the course of 10 days, on charges of theft, aggravated by previous convictions, made their escape from the prison of Greenock about B o'clock this morning, and are therefore now wanted on a charge of prisonbreaking, a Sheriff's Warrant having been granted for their apprehension. Ramsay was in custody for having stolen a watch from the premises of a working jeweller in this town, on 21th February last. He had been liberated from the General Prison at Perth a few days previous to commiiting the theft. He has been previously convicted of theft at the Sheriff and Circuit Courts at Glasgow, and at the Sheriff Court at Rothesay. Wilson was one of four pickpockets who were ap- prehended here for having, on 6th June last, jostled a lady on the stair leading to the Cathcart- street Railway Station, and abstracted her purse, containing a sum of money, from a hand- bag which she carried. He has been previously convicted— twice at Edin- burgh, once at Ayr, and once in Staffordsh re. It is earnestly requested that every possible exertion be made by the Police to capture the offenders. Description of accused :— James Ramsay— aged 33 years, height 5 feet inches, a native of and resided the most of his life in Glasgow; hair, dark brown ; light moustache and whiskers ; eyes, brown ; complexion, fresh ; marks, pock pitted ; occupation, tailor; dressed when he absconded in a black felt hat, light gray coat, gray trowsers and vest, elastic- sided boots, and dark overcoat. John Wilson, alias James Finlayson, alias Bernard M'Diarmid— aged 25 years; height, 5 feet 5 inches; born and most of his life in Glasgow; hair, brown; reddish whiskers., beard and moustache ; eyes, blue; com pie > ion, pale ; occupation, hawker; dressed when he absconded in a black felt hat, dark gray tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, elastic- sided boots and dark pepper- and- salt overcoat. A reward of £ 20 will be paid for the apprehension of these men, being £ 10 for the apprehension of each. It is defired that any information which may be of use in tracing the accused be communicated, without delay, to Robert Blair, esq., Procurator- Fiscal, Greenock, or to the subscriber, either of whom will, on hearing of the apprehension of the accused, at once despatch on officer for them. WHEREAS a Sheriff's Warrant has been issued for the apprehension of Alexander Bruce Ross, District Manager in Glasgow for the Briton Medical and General Life Association ( chief office in Scotland, 18, Queen- street, Edinburgh), charging him with having, on 19th inst., absconded, embezzling the above sum of money belonging to said Insurance Association. Description— About 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, brown hair, brown whiskers, beard and moustache, not very long, reddish cheeks, longith straight nose, sharp features; dressed in dark clothes, generally frock coat and dress hat, gentlemanly, smart business- like appearance. His residence is at > Brounlea, Blantyre, near Hamilton, where his and family presently are. He is a native of r. Police officers are requested to make particular search and inquiry for the accused, and those at seaports are requested to make inquiry at shipping offices and search outward- hound vessels, and if found, to apprehend and communicate with the subscriber. WANTED, on a Warrant, charging him with having stolen a considerable sum of money from the Savings Bank in Hawick, Andrew Scott, lately an accountant in Hawick. The accused is a native of Hawick, 35 years of age, 5 fett 6 inches in height, fair hair, light gray eyes, fresh complexion, whiskers fair and thin on cheeks and allowed to grow under chin ; has marks of ulcers or running sores on neck; has short and badly formed feet, and one of them ( supposed the right) is drawn up at heel, causing him to walk on his toes and limp slightly. The accused, who is of dissipated habits and much addicted to drink, was dressed in a dark tweed suit and black felt hat when he absconded. A reward of £ 10 is hereby offered in the name of the Sheriff of Roxburgh, Berwick and Selkirk, to any person who shall give such information to the Procurator- Fiscal of the county as shall lead to the apprehension of the accused; and a further reward of £ 10 is also offered by the trustees of the said bank, payable on apprehension as aWesaid. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Kenny, native of Dunna- maggan, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 20th or morning of 21st September, 1874, at Damerstown, in the harony of Fassadinin, parish of Muckslee, stolen clothing ( as undernoted), the property of Patrick Saunders, of Damerstown :— Round narrow shoulders, flat Jeet which he turns out when walking, very tender gray or blue eyes, regular nose, red complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 32 years of age, red hair; wore an old jerry hat, frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, old tweed vest. Description of the clothing :— A new black frieze frock coat having small nap, with a piece ingrafted into one cuff; an old corduroy trowsers; an old calico shirt, and an elastic belt; all value for £\ As-, and all of which the accused is probably wearing. Castlecomer, Sept. 25, 1874. ( 3864 o.— 6140.) DESCRIPTION of articles of wearing apparel found in possession of Thomas Minogue, and supposed to have been stolen in Tipperary, S. R., or counties of Kilkenny or Waterford:— A dark tweed shooting jacket, 8 buttons down front, left back button missing, dark lining ; soiled " Dux," half- turned- down collar in right- hand side- pocket. A pair of striped trowsers coarse material of blue black and white, with narrow black stripe down sides, lined with unbleached calico, flowered cotton lining inside waistband, 3 black buttons on fly, 1 missing; braces attached, scarlet and white mixed, stripe down centre. A tweed waistcoat with narrow speckled orange stripes, 5 buttons; bobna l and match in left pocket, brass brooch in right with two pink glass imitation stones in setting. A shirt, coarse printed calico, buff wiih broad gray and white stripes an inch apart, un bleached calico lining at back of neck and shoulders. Three made- up " Baronet" scarves— 1 black, with King's. DESCRIPTION of the under- named young offender, who, on the 21st September, 1874, again absconded from the Philipstown Reform itory School, King's county:— William Brien, No. 316, 16 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, good visage, rather sharp features, left wrist slightly injured; formerly belonged to 3, Orr's- cottages, Dublin. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of— corduroy trowsers and blue checked shirt, with Reformatory buttons. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1.
