DUBLIN, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1874. ENGLISH POLICE. £ 50 REWARD. WHEREAS Michael M'Manus until recently held the appointment of Borough Treasurer for the borough of Blackburn, and, while holding such appointment, did steal the sum of £ 700, the property of the Cor- poration, a Warrant, charging him with the offenco, was, on the 3rd of August, 1874, issued for his arrest. Description :— 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, proportionate make, oval face, thin nose, small eyes, bhek hair, black thin set whiskers round sides of face, no beard or moustache ; dressed in black surtout coat, light cloth trowsers and vest, black silk hat; respectable appearance; is a native of Ireland, but has resided nearly all bis life at Hoghton, near Black- burn, and could not be detected as a native of Ire- land ; he probably will endeavour to emigrate to America or some other country. It has been ascertained that his hair is naturally gray; but he has continuously dyed it black, which he will probably discontinue, and, therefore, his de- cription should read—" gray hair, but may be dyed black." He may be able to dress in female attire. He has, under the name of " R. and J. Railton and Company," carried on the business of engineers, and supplied engines in Rotterdam, in Holland, and also to other places in Germany, to which places he will endeavour to go; Switzerland at, d America have hot n nnmed. Police officers are earnestly requested to diligently search for him, and if po^ ible effect his arrest, espe- cially police officeis of seaports to search out- sailing vessels, assisted by the photographs which have been forwarded for their use; also to give full infor- mation to all shipping officers and officers of shij s. Whosoever will give such information as shall lead to his arrest will receive the above reward vn application to JOSEPH POTTS, Chief Constable. WANTED, on a Warrant charging him with having, on the night of the 12th inst., in his house at No. 238, Main- street, Bridgeton of Glasgow, murdered a labourer named John M'Ginnes— Robert Fairley, a labourer, native of Newtownards, Ireland, about 30 years of age. 5 feet 6 inches high, thin face, high cheek- bones, pug nose, which is very hollow between the ejes, sallow complexion; daik hair, which is cut short; clean shaved ; when hair allowed to grow on face it is very dark. Dressed, when he absconded, in a blue pilot cloth jacket with velvet collar, dark tweed trowsers, and Balmoral bonnet. Police officers snd others are requested to irake particular search and inquiry for Fairley ; and those stationed at seaports are requested to search outward- bound vessels, and, if found, to have him appre- hended and immediate information sent to the subscriber. DESCRIPTION of John Sloan ( No. J 3327), who has broken the conditions of his licence in not reporting himself to the Constabulary:— Convicted at Lurgan, county Armagh, at Michael- mas Sessions, on I 6th October, 1869, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude; 35 years of sge on conviction, can read, js an Episcopalian, single, by trade a weaver, prison trade a labourer ; born in Shankill, county Armagh ; he resided before conviction in Lurgan, county Armagh ; his friends reside at same place dark brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, . ordinary nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, average make, 5 feet inches high ; large sore- mark on forehead ; two burn- marks on left arm; sore- mark on right leg ; is ruptured. The above- named convict was released from Spike Island Prison. on 20th July, 1874, on an order of' licence. This convict has been residing in Lurgan, but has not reported himself since the 3rd ultimo. The above- named convict was released from Golden- bridge Refuge, Dublin; 19th August, 1873, on an order of licence to be at large, dated 24th July, 1873. This woman failed to report herself at Kilrush on leaving Kildysert on 12th July, 1874. DESCRIPTION of the under- named boy, who, on the morning of 15th September, 1874, absconded from the St. Nicholas Industrial School at Cork : — Henry Samuel W « lsh ( No. 27), 15 years and 9 months old, 4 feet5 incheshigh atadmission in 1871, slight make, dark complexion, dark brown hair, brown eyes, straight nose, mouth almost always open, very queer- looking visage, somewhat like an African; mark of a burn near his ear; formerly belonged to Dublin ; his parents are dead. The school dress, all with Industrial School stamp, innsists of- Irish frieze jacket, gray worsted stock- cogs, boots laced up in front. This hoy was sent out of several schools in Dublin. The Manager of the Industrial School will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand. Office of Reformatory and Industrial Schools, Dublin Castle, September 17, 1874. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed boy, who, on tho morning of 15th Soptember, 1874, absconded from the St. Nicholas Industrial School at Cork :— James Fulton ( No. 85), 15 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, slight make, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eves, straight nose, rather thin lips, pleasant looking visage; formerly belonged to Moy, county Tyrone; his mother and step- father reside at Moy. The school dress, all with Industrial School stamp, consists of— tweed coat, gray worsted stockings, machine- made boots, laced up in front. This boy walked all the way from the north of Ireland, and it is suspected that he has tried to go back there. The Manager of the Industrial School will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand. Office of Reformatory andjndustrial Schools, Dublin Castle, September 17, 1874. DESCRIPTION of 3 persons, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 29th August, 1874, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Clonfert, robbed Mary Nunan of two £ 1 notes:— 1. Unknown— Three blue letters on left wrist; long face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 23 years of age; wore a soft black hat, dark cord jacket and trowsers. 2. Unknown— Fair complexion, r und face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age; wore a dark cap, gray tweed frock coat, gray tweed trowsers 3. Unknown— Dark complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 11 inches high ; wore an old dark cap, blue pilot body coat, blue tiowsers. Kanturk, August 30, 18' 4. ( 3137 c.— 5765.) DESCRIPTION of John or James Mullane, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of July, 1874, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Imphrick, hit James Fisher and knocked him down, thereby causing his death:— Blue eyes, rather cocked nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, sandy hair. The school diess, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of— corduroy trowsers and blue checked shirt, with Reformatory buttons. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray tho expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lords Justices, that, about the hour of eight o'cl ck, on tho evening of the 29th ultimo, Mr. James Muir, Land Steward of Augustus Arthur, esq , J. P, of Glano- mera, when returning from Limerick, was fired at and wounded by some person or persons at present unknown: Their Excellencies, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, are pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same; and a reward of FIFTY POUNDS to any person who shall, within tho same period, give such private information as shall lead to the same result. By Their Excellencies' command, T. H. BURKE. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by William O'Hara, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Tulla, county Clare, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of William Ross, native of Ballina- muck, who stands charged with having, on the 6th Say of July, 1874, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killoe, and county of Longford, seriously assaulted Michael Cassedy, by kicking him in the abdomen, from the effects of which he died on the 8th instant -.— Right leg lowed at the knee, caused by a fracture ; holds his head to one side, has a peculiar expres- sion about the eyes; regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, very black hair; wore a low bat, gray frieze coat, dark trowsers, frieze vest, j^ ll endeavour to escape to England or Scotland. ^^ Granard, July 9, 1874. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lords Justices, that, about the hour of half past 2 o'clock, on the afternoon of the 27th u'timo, Miss Gertrude Whyte, daughter of Colonel J. J. Whyte, J. P., D. L., of Newtown- Manor, Sligo, when returning from Sligo, was fired at by some person or persons at present unknown : Their Excellencies, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, are pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arr- j^ tof the person or persons who committed the same ; and a reward of FIFTY POUNDS to any person who shall, within the same period, give such private information as shall load to the same result. Galway; lur father is undergoing penal servitude ; her mother lives at Loughrea. The school dress, all with Industrial School stamp, consists of— green frock, black petticoat, i, lack jacket, white stockings, strong nailed boots.
