Stolen ou the 7th instant, from a field at Willesden : a brown Gelding, 7 years old, 16 hands 2 inches high, star on forehead, off hind lieel aud foot white, slight ' surfeit' on skin ; and a bay Gelding, 4 years old off, 16 hands high, off fore and both hind heels white. £ 50 reward.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, September 18. Stolen from a stable at Kirby Hill, near Borougbridge on the night of the 14th instant; a light grey strong horse Pony, 10 years old, maae rubbed off half way up, and the rest of the mane short, in gotsd cordition ; also stolen, an old Pad, and a single- ieiued Bridle, with old snafile bit. Information to be given to Superintendent Alderson, North Riding Con- stabulary, Leyburn, or to Inspector Hove, Police Station, Wath, near Kipon, Yorkshiie.— Bow- street, Sptember IS, Description of NICHOLAS CONGDEN, dealer, late of Landrake, Cornwall, charged with stealing a Horse on the 7th instant at Bickleigh, Devon, the property of Mr. Thomas Metters, farmer : he is about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, thin face, dark complexion, dark hair, and long dark whiskers ; dressed when last seen in dark clothes aud round pole hat; he may endeavour to embark for America, and is supposed to have got about £ 50 iu his possession. Description of ARTHUR FLOWER, for whose appre- hension a warrant is issued, charged with utteriDg a forged Cheque on the City Bank, Ludgate- hill Branch, at the parish of Herne, ou the 24th July last: he is about 38 years of age, j 5 feet 11 inches or C feet high, fresh complexion, dark brown j haircut short, whiskers shaved oil', thick brown moustache, stout build, near sighted, aud wears glasses ; generally dresses in a suit of groy tweed and straw hat. Has lesided for several summers at Herne Bay ; his brother, Alfred Flower, resides at 79, Mayall- road, Brixton. Stolen by means of burglary, between 11- 30 p. m. on the 11th and 7 am on the 12tli instant, from a dwelling- house iu Newcastle, the following articles: a Plate Bisket, lined with green baize, containing four silver Tea Spoons, marked ' J. W. T. ;' two silver Table Spoons, marked ' A. D. B. ;' a silver Butter Knife, pearl handle ; a silver plated Teapot and Cream Jug, both marked ' A.;' six silver plated Dessert Spoons; and two silver plated Knife Rests. Information to be giveu to the Chief Constable, Newcastle- on- Tyne.— Bow- street, September 14. Between 6' 30 a. m. and 5 p. m. on the 10th iustant, the dwelling- house of Daniel Brice, in the parish of Waltham, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : a suit of black cloth Clothes, a black corded Coat, four white Shirts, two grey Shirts with dark stripes, a liuen Table- cloth, a Paisley Shawl, a coloured Shawl with red and white flowers, a silver- plated Brooch with red and green Btones, and a Razor. By a man about 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 irches high, dark complexion, and hair cut short ; dressed in blue coat, grey trousers, dark cloth cap, and very old blucher boots. Stated he came from Brighton, aud carried the stolen clothes in a red wrapper. Further information respecting ELIJAH GOSS, adver- tised iu the Police Gazette of the 21st ultimo, charged under a warrant with stealiug eleven Cows and Heifers, the property of Mr. John Caple. £ 10 reward will be paid for his apprehension, if within one calendar month from this date. Description of two men charged with stealing a Horse and Conveyance, since recovered, at Accrington, Lancashire : SAMUEL SMITH, an irou moulder, about 35 years of age, 5 feet C or 7 inches high, round red face, dark beard cut short, pockpitted, stout build ; dressed when last seen in dark jacket, nioleskiu vest and trousers ; has worked at Iron Foundries both in Lancashire aud West Yorkshire. Information to be given to the Superintendent, County Police Station, Burnley, or to the Inspector, County Police Station, Accrington, Lancashire.— Bow- street, September 14. Found at Leominster, in the horse fair, on the 4th inst.: and supposed to have been stolen : a brown cart Horse, 3 years old, 15J hands high, blaze down the face, white fetlocks, long tail, small hoofs, not shod. Absconded from Westerliara, charged with stealing a Suit of Clothes and a Half- sovereign ( recovered), on the 4th instant, the property of VV. U. Francis: ARTHUR BURTON, a tramping shoemaker, from 37 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark hair and whiskers ; dressed iu light mixtuie coat, dark vest and trousers, dark striped cotton shirt, hard felt hat, and old spring- side boots ; he is a native of Tunbridge. Information to be given to Superintendent O'Kill, Sevenoaks, Kent, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Brno- street, September 18. Absconded from Swansea, on the 12th instant, charged • with embezzling the sura of £ 1 12s., the monies of Messrs. Bullen, cab proprietors : ROBERT LORD, a cab driver, 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 iuches high, light complexion, very light hair and eyebrows, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in dark jacket and waistcoat, snuff- coloured trousers, aud bowler hat. Iufermation to be given to Head Constable Allison, Swansea, Glamorganshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 18. Stolen on the night of the 13th instant, from the dwelling- house of George Worthey, labourer, Repwick, near Thirsk : a blue cloth Coat, two pockets outside, one inside left breast; a single- breasted blue cloth Vest; £ 2 10s. in Gold ; and 19s. 6d. in Silver. By a man who lodged in the house, 35 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh com- plexion^ brown hair, brown or sandy whiskers or moustache ; dressed in Btolen jacket aud vest, grey tweed trousers, new • watertight boots, black or blue cloth cap, with cheesecutter peak aud a brass button at each side. He slated that he served 12 years in the Army, that he was a native of Glasgow, that he has worked at a screwing machine there, and is now supposed to be miking for that place. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Walmsley, Northallerton, or to Inspector Nicholson, Constabulary Office, Thirok, York- shire.— Bow- street, September 18. JOHN FRAMPTON and MARY ANN FRAMPTON, described in Police Gazette of the 11th instant, charged with stealing Jewellery from a dwelling- house at Tunbridge Wells, have been apprehended, aud remanded, and the property has been recovered. The man is 31 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, black hair, whiskers, and moustache, dark eyes, fresh complexion, aud stout figure ; dressed iu dark mixture tweed coat, black cloth trousers, and black felt hat, all shabby ; he is a general smith, a native of Staines, and some- times suffers from a bad leg ; the woman is 25 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, very thin, slight ligure, dark brown hair, blue eyes, pale complexion ; dressed in dark brown frock, black velvet jacket, black straw hat with black feather ; she is an ironer, aud a native of Hastings.. In- formation to be given to Chief Constable Embury, Tun- bridge Wells, Kent.— Brno- street, September 18. Absconded from Cleobury Mortimer on the 7th instant, charged with stealing £ 3 On. 6d., belonging to Mr. John Potter, his employer : WILLIAM POSTANS, 25 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, sallow complexion, brown hair, no whiskers, seal on each shoulder blade; dressed in a brown tweed coat and vest, new cotton cord trousers, black jimcrow hat, grey cotton mixture shirt, purple and black scarf, and old side- spring boots ; be has a dirty appearance. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Collis, Cleobury Moi timer, Shropshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Sept. 16. Stolen from a lodging- house at Malpas, Cheshire, on the 7th instant, the monies of William Jones, another lodger: £ 1 I2s. 6d., by a tramping joiner and cabinet maker who lodged in the house a few nights : he is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, grey hair, aud small greyish whiskers ; dressed iu old brown jacket, dark trousers, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Wilson, Tattenhall, Cheshire.— Bow- street, September 16. Absconded on the 17th ultimo, charged with embezzling £ 30, the monies of his employer: WALTER YELDON, 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexiou, dark curly hair, slight moustache ; dressed in a dark overcoat and trousers, and black billycock hat : a baker, of Jewish appear- ance. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, F Divisidn, September 16. Stolen on the 4th instant, from the borough of Shrews- bury : a deal pair- oar in- rigged Gig, of dark brown colour, with blue gunwale, chair- back painted red,' Laura' pointed ou rudder; a pair of Sculls, zinc- tipped, one of which has been repaired on bottom edge. By two men of the following description : both about 23 years of age, and of medium size ; one dressed in a suit of Scotch plaid aud skull cap of the same materia], the other in a Buit of dark clothes pnd Scotch cap, Hat on top. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Borrugh Police Office, Shrewsbury, Salop.— Bow- itreet, September 16. Stolen on or about the 1st ultimo, from George Scott, Union- street. Ryde, Isle of Wight, draper : a length of Cloth, and a quantity of Serge aud Twill. By CHAS. BAKER, 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, florid com- plexion, fair hair, and dark eyebrows ( supposed painted) ; dressed in light trousers and dark coat. Information to be given to Superintendent Burt, Ryde, Isle of Wight, who holds a warrant for his apprehension-.— Bow- street, Sept. 16. Description of ERNEST HAAS, a German, who is charged at Birmingham, with stealing 15s., belonging to Messrs. Aldendorf and Co., merchants, Russell- street, Bir- mingham, his masters : 28 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, d;> rk complexion, hair, whiskers, aud moustache, rather broad nose, hair parted down the centre, speaks English with a German accent, and speaks Frcnch, and has been employed as a merchant's clerk ; dre » aed when ho left in a black frock coat, light vest and trousers, and black billycock hat; may again seek employment as a merchant's clerk. £ 1 reward will be paid by the said firm for his apprehension. Stolen on the night of the 5th instant, from the Royal Hotel, Capel Curig : a large green leather Writing Desk, in a yellow leather cover, its chief contents were five or six £ 5 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 59231 to 69236 inclusive; two silk Purses, one sliding ( empty), the other a small red, with clasp ( containing £ lo or £ 12 in Gold) ; a quantity of Stationery, plain and monogram ; a Certificate from the Southampton Dock Company, for £ 450; 43 | 4 Preference Stock ; a Cheque Book, from Messrs. Hoare's Bank, Fleet- street, London ; a small Letter Weight, in a red leather case ; a Wharncliffe Knife ; an ivory Stamp, with silver head, on which are engraved the initials ' J. B. D,;' and several other Documents ; the property of J. B. Dasnet. Also, two meerschaum Pipes, in cases ; a small Corkscrew; and a silver shawl Safety Pin, about four iuches long. Description of two men committed for trial at the ensuing quarter sessions at Carlisle, charged with house breaking at Brampton : JAMES CLARK, a dyer, and native of Sunderland, is 36 years of age, 5 feet inches high, proportionate make, blue eyes, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers ( lighter on the chin), and moustache, marked with the letter ' D' below the left nipple, which has been sa neatly marked with tattooing that it appears like a basket of flowers; dressed in a dark coat, black cord trousers, black billycock hat, and strong boots much worn ; states he served 11 yeara in the 1st Bombay Fusiliers, and obtained his discharge in 1869 ; since then he has been employed at dockyards as a labourer, but he refuses to say where. WILLIAM CHARLTON, labourer, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches, stout figure, fresh complexion, very light brown brown hair, very slight whiskers and moustache, large scar on right arm and wrist, the effects of an accident he net with in a factory when young, and a flag and anchor tattooed on left arm; dressed in a brown ribbed coat, cord vest, dark trousers, brown cloth cap, and old boots; be states ho was born at Sealiam Harbour, Durham, and spent a few years of his childhood at Seaton Colliery.
