No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted it the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1874. ENGLISH POLICE. £ 50 REWARD. WHEREAS Michael M Manus until recently held the appointment of Borough Treasurer for the borou, h of Blackburn, and, while holding such appointment, did steal lhe sum of £ 700, the property of the Cor- poration, a Warrant, charging him with the offence, was, on the 8rd of August, 1874, issued for his arrest. Description:— 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, proportionate make, oval face, thin nose, small eyes, black hair, black thin set whiskers round sides of face, no beard or moustache; dressed in black surtout coat, light cloth trowsers and vest, black silk hat; respectable appearance; is a native of Ireland, but has resided nearly all bis life at Hoghton, near Black- burn, and could not be detected as a native of Ire- land ; he probably will endeavour to emigrate to America or some other country. It has been ascertained that his hair is naturally gray; but he has continuously dyed it black, which ho will probably discontinue, and, therefore, his de- cription should read—" gray hair, but may be dyed black." He may be able to dress in female attire. He has, under the name of " R. and J. Railton and Company," carried on the business of engineers, and supplied engines in Rotterdam, in Holland, and also to other places in Germany, to which places he will endeavour to go; Switzerland and America have been named. Police officers are earnestly requested to diligently search for him, and if possible effect his arrest, espe- cially police officers of seaports to search out- sailing vessels, assisted by the photographs which have been forwarded for their use; also to give full infor- mation to all shipping officers and officers of ships. WANTED, for a serious assault committed on the SIst August, 1874, upon the person of John Smith, gamekeeper, near to Loch Thorn, in this county— Daniel M'Callum, a blacksmith, 23 years of sge, 5 feet 10 inches in height, ordinary make, dark hair, little ( if any) whiskers, dark complexion, is a native of Greenock ; has a mark of an old wound on forehead, distinctly visible; dressed when last seen in a short dark coat, dark trowsers, and a dark or blue cloth cap; is a poacher, and has been convicted of assault and fraud, and may tako work as a blacksmith or hammerman, having previously worked as both in Scotland, England, and Ireland. Police officers and others are requested to make particular search for fhe said Daniel M'Callum, and if he is apprehended or any trace of him is obtained, to communicate with Robert Blair, esq., P. DESCRIPTION of a tramp, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the lst instant, at Corrofin, in the barony of Inchiquin, parish of Killinaboy, with John Kelly, also a tramp, now in custody, burglariously entered the shop of Mrs. Ellen Foley, publican, and stolen therefrom a till containing 11 « . 8^ d. and some papers, also lib. of tea, lib. of sugar, a bottle of wine and 2 bottles of lime- juice:— Military appear- ance, mark of an evil on right side of neck ; yellow complexion, long face, medium make, about 5 feet inches high, about 30 years of age, light brown hair; wore a grayish cap with peak and button on top, brown or grayish frock coat, grayish trowsers, dark vest. Unknown— Three blue letters on left wrist; long face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 23 years of age; wore a soft black hat, dark cord jacket and trowsers. 2. DESCRIPTION of Jeremiah Cavanagh, native of Castledergan, county Sligo, who stands charged with having, on the 25th August, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Brigown, been found wandering and unable to account for himself:— Brown eyes, long and thick nose, sallow complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair; wore a jerry hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers.
