No Description ean be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, o. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted ij the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 1874. ENGLISH POLICE. £ 50 REWARD. WHEREAS Michael M Manus until recently held the appoi' tment of borough Treasurer for the borough of Blackburn, and, while holding such appointment, did steal ihe sum of £ 700, the property of the Cor- poration, a Warrant, charging him with the offence, was, on the 3rd of August, 1874, issued for his arrest. Description:— 45 years. of age, 5 feet4 inches high, proportionate make,, oval face, thin nose, small eyes, bl ick hair, black thin set whiskers round sides of face, no beard or moustache; dressed in blnck surtout coat, light cloth trowsers and v< st, black silk hat; respectable appearance; is a native of Ireland, but has resided nearly all bis life at Hoghton, near Black- burn, and could not be detected as a native of Ire- land ; he probably will endeavour to emigrate to America or some other country. It has been ascertained that his hair is naturally gray ; but he has continuously dyed it black, which he will probably discontinue, and, therefore, his de- cription should road—"• gray hair, but may be dyed black." He may be able to dress in female attire. lie has, under the name of " R. and J. Railton and Company," carried on the business of engineers, and supplied engines in Rotterdam, in Holland, and also to other places in Germany, to which places he will endeavour to go; Switzerland a> d America have been named. Police officers are earnestly requested to diligently search for him, and if possible effect his arrest, espe- cially police officers of seaports to search out- sailing vessels, assisted by the photographs which have been forwarded for their use; also to give full infor- mation to all shipping officers and officers of ships. Whosoever will give such information as shall lead to his arrest will receive the above reward application to JOSEPH POTTS, Chief^ Constable. Tiernan, cattle sales- men, No. 94, York- street, Glasgow— Bartholomew Fulham, a drover, lately in the employment of said firm, hbout 33 or 34 years of age, sbout 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark brown hair, small beard on chiu of) eddish colour; dressed with sleeved vest and soft peaked cap ; he is knock- kneed and also a little round- shouldered, and Is a native of Dublin. He absconded on 20th instant, and it is supposed he will endeavour to go abroad, but is probably at present in Ireland. The Police are requested to make diligent search and inquiry for this man, and those stationed at sea- port towns are requested to search out » ard- boui. d vessels, and, if found, to have him upprehended and the subscriber communicated with. John Campbell, a native of Maybole, Ayr, age height 5 feet 7 inches, stout made, square face, straight nose, blue eyes, dark hair, no wb; skers, small and black moustache, dark sallow complexion, slow appearance, slightly bent, shoemaker by trade. 2. William Dickson, a native of Glasgow, age 28, height 6 feet inches, stout made, prominent nose, small sparkling hazel eyes, sharp fsfce, fresh com- plexion, brown hair, reddish whiskers and moustache, slope shoulders, smart appearance, bricklayer by trade. They are charged with theft by housebreaking and previous convictions. Dickson is a returmd convict. The prisoners were dressed in tradesmen's clothes. £ 5 reward will be paid for the apprehension of each. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Argyleshire, Lochgilphead. DESCRIPTION of Patrick M'Hugh, native of Water- ford, who was arrested, on the 24th August, 1874, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Doneraile, on suspicion of having committed crime elsewhere:— THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 28, 1874. Cast in both eyes; four spots tattooed on left fore- arm ; hazel eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet inches high, about 86 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a tweed cap, old brown coat, brown striped trowsers, brown vest, old broken highlowb' ots. He is a discharged soldier, discharged from ihe 65th Regiment in consequcnce of bad conduct, 14th May, 1874; when questioned by the Police he denied having be n in the army, but stated he bad been at work in Wales for tho last twelve months ; he afterwards contradicted this state- ment. DESCRIPTION of John Shea alias Murphy, who states he is a native of Castleisland, county Kerry, and stands charged with having, on the 14th inst., in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Mogeely, been found wandering as a tramp and unable to give a satisfactory account of himself, and has been remanded for inquiry to be made :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, ordinary face, stout make, 6 feet inches high, 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a black jerry hat, blue pilot coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest Youghal, August 23, 1874. DESCRIPTION of Hugh Daniel Begley, native of Knocknague, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of August, 1874, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Kilmeen, dangerously assaulted Daniel C. Buckley :— Mark of a fresh cut on upper lip and chin; large nose, common face, stout make. 6 feet high, about 25 years of age, fair hair, no whiskers; wore a jerry hat, black frock coat, gray tweed trowters and vest, strong laced boots.
