DUBLIN, FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 1874. ENGLISH POLICE. WANTED, in this borough, on a charge of embezzle- ment of various sums of money, belonging to his late employer*, the North- Eastern Railway Company— Thomas Siddall, a railway goods clerk, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, fair com- plexion, thin face, sharp nose, brown hair, little light whiskers on sides of face, shaved chin end; slender figure, turns feet out when walking; is a native of Stanhope, in the co. of Durham; dressed in a darkish plaid mixed suit, elastic- sided boots, and black Billycock hat. Absconded from here on the 4th instant. Frequents billiard- rooms, and a likely person to apply for a situation as a billiard- marker or clerk. If found, to be apprehended, and informa- tion to be given to the undersigned, who holds a Warrant for his arrest^ and will pay all expenses. EDWARD J. SAGGERSON, Chief Constable. Borough Police Office, Middlesbrough, August 5, 1874, SCOTTISH POLICE. WANTED at Dumfries, on a charge of fraud, a person of tlie following description, viz.:— About 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, full red face, small fairish whiskers, walks erect, and has a gentlemanly appearance ; dressed when last seen in a light gray suit, black felt hat, and carried a small black bag or portmanteau. This person is an old offender, and tho gentlemen he imposes upon are naval officers. He writes representing himself to be an old messmate in temporary difficulties, and asking the loan of £ 7, £ 8, £ 10. He addresses his letters from some rural place where there is a post- office, and then either calls at the post- office for tho letter expected in answer or writes to the postmaster requesting him to forward hig letters to some other post- office. Sometimes he addresses his letters from s^ me towns, such as Belfast and Hawick'; and when that has been the case, he has stated that he had been getting so much of the money as he required to relieve him of his difficulties, and that he was just on his way home meaning the rural place he had' chosen for the address. There has never been more tb an ono correspondent to tho Fame place, four of which he has had in Dumfriesshire. He has taken the names of J. B. Nicolson, James Stephen, J. Little and Horace H. Smith. ' * ; The police are requested to make particular searah and inquiry for the above described perfetm, andVifi found to apprehend and detain, and communicate with the Chief Constable of Dumfriesshire, at Dumfries. They are also requested to call at all rural post- offices} and on naval officers, whether at present serving or retired from serving in Her Majesty's Navy, in tpeir respective districts, and leave particulars of the case, so that immediate information may be received of his whereabouts, should he make any further attempt at fraud, which he is sure to do. WANTED, on a Sheriffs Warrant, for embezzlement of £ 35— Hugh Sherry, a spirit merchant's traveller, from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or iO inchts high, stout mado, pockmarked, has a large head, Dun- dreary whiskers, no moustache or beard ; dressed in a blue frock coat, gray tweed vest and trowsers, and satin hat; wears an eyeglass. Absconded a week ago. Was previously a traveller in England. Will endeavour to obtain a similar situation. Please make inquiry, and, if found, apprehend, ant^^ naunicate with A. Buckley :— Mark of a fresh cut on upper lip and chin; large nose, common face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 25 years of age, fair hair, no whiskers; wore a jerry hat, black frock coat, gray tweed trowters and vest, strong laced boots. DESCRIPTION of John or James Mullane, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of July, 1874, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Imphrick, hit James Fisher and knocked him down, thereby causing his death:— Blue eyes, rather cocked nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, sandy hair. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, on the night of the 23rd July, 1874, Thomas Fleming and Alice Fleming, his wife, were both brutally murdered at Curraghmore, near Mitchelstown, in the county of Cork: THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 14, 1874. His Grace the Duke of Abercorn, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information to the Resident Magistrate or Constabulary as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. Tho above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Richard J. Eaton, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Mitchelstown, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of the under- named young offender, who, on the 11 th of August, 1874, absconded from the Rehoboth place Reformatory School at Dublin :— John Magee ( No. 104), 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, pretty stout make, sallow complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, looks downward, large nose, round visage, an old cut between left oye and ear; formerly belonged to Carlowgraigue, Carlow, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of— light cord trowsers, light cord vest with c- ilico sleeves, blay calico shirt, blue cloth cap, Blucher boots. This boy may nako for some backward part of the country, or probably may enlist. He also absconded on 10th July last, and was found at Carlow, on 16th of same month. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Patrick May ( No. 2276), who has broken the conditions of his licence in not reporting himself to the Police on change of residence:— Convicted at Dublin, at June Commission, on 18th June, 1870, for larceny from the person, and sen- tenced to 6 years' penal servitude; 22 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Protestant, single; is a sailor; born at Northumberland- street, Dublin ; resided before conviction in Commons- street; his friends reside ic Leeds, England ; dark brown hair, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, ordinary nose ( left side corroded from the effects of a sore), ordinary mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage; cut- mark on right cheek, a brown mole on left temple, a large sore- mark on right arm extending from wrist to elbow; 8tout make, 5 feet 6 inches high. The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, on 10th June, 1874, on an order of licence. It appears by a report from the Dublin Metropolitan Police, that this convict did not report himself since the 11th June, 1874, nor did he notify to them his change of residence. In the event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871, 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. Government Prisons Office, Dublin Castle, August 10, 1874. DESCRIPTION of convict Thomas Flood, ( No. 2277), who has broken the conditions of his licence in not- reporting himself to the Police on change of resi, dence:— Convicted in Dublin, county of the city of Dublin, at August Sessions, on 5th Augu t, 1870, for burglary, and sentencsd to 5 years' penal servitude; 22 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, married ; by trade a glass- blower; was born in Clarendon- street, resided before conviction in Mecklenburgh- lane, Dublin ; his friends reside in Mecklenburgh- street; dark brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, small nose, full mouth, fair com- plexion, long oval visage, average make, 5 feet 2- J- inches high ; blue tattoo spots on left arm, and T. F*. cn back of left hand, cut- mark on right side of right leg, a large sore mark below right side of neck. The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, on 4th July, 1874, on an order of licence.
