Absconded from Castle Carey, Somerset, after having ' fortl.— Bow- street, July 20, badly cut and wounded with a pocket- knife Joseph Burge, on •. the night of the 16th instant: a navvy called HEDGEHOG or PRICKLEY, about 30 years of age, looks older, 5 feet' 6 or 7 inches high, hair cut short, small whiskers under the ! ohin, dark complexion ; dressed, in blue pilot coat and vest, Stolen from the person of Edward Lee, while at the Eox Inn, Bagley, on the 17th instant: a double- breasted moleskin Vest, light bone buttons on each side, two brown ones on the right side, blue sleeves, two pockets outside, and two inside; and £ 1 iu Gold. By a man named RICHARD BISHOP, a native of Shrewsbury, a shoemaker by trade, but generally' works at farm labouring, about 5 feet 6 iuches high, small dark sandy whiskers; dressed in the stolen vest, moleskin trousers, dark cloth cap, with brown earlaps, tied over the top. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to P. C. 42 Lewis, Cockshull, who holds the warrant for his appprehension.— Bow- street, July 22. Stolen from the person of William Richardson, at Cholmondley, Cheshire, on the 15th instant : £ 59 10s. in Gold in two bags, one a cotton check and the other a dirty brown linen. By a tramp who worked a few days in the neighbourhood, and supposed to be a Welshman ; about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 iuches high, swarthy complexion, small dark whiskers round the face, talks of having been in the army; dressed in brown slop, with band at waist, greenish cord trousers, no vest, black cap with leather strap and buckle iu front, and wore a belt, which is supposed to belong to some militia regiment. Description of a man charged with stealing from the person of a child about 14 years of age upon the highway at Fawkham, on the 16th instant: he is about 60 years of age, 5 feet 9 iuches high, dark complexion, dark hair, whiskers and moustache turning grey; dressed in a black felt hard hat, long drab round frock, dark trousers, and very old lace- up boots, broken out at sides and fronts. Between 2 p. m. the 16th and 8 a. m. the 17th instant, a pawnbroker's shop in Manchester was entered by forcing open the coal grid, and the following property stolen there- from : 5 silver lever Watches, Nos. 76422, 20434, 669, 9095, and 2945. 1 Boston lever Watch, out of repair, No. 11470. 1 silver Geneva Watch, No. 2097. 3 ditto verge Watches, loose cases, Nos. 7016, 2281, and 586. 21 gold wedding Kings, 6 signet Rings, 9- carat, one has an onyx stone. 1 gold Pin, in the form of a true lover's knst. 1 ditto oval shape. 5 gold Albert Guards. 1 lady's long gold Chain. 1 swivel Seal, with imitation topaz stone and a Borse at the top, and three sides. £ 10 reward will be paid by the owner for the recovery of the property and conviction of the offe' or offenders, or] in proportion to amount recovered, lmmuiation to- be given to Chief Constable Palin, Detective Office, Town HaU, Manchester.— Bow- street, July 20. Between 1 and 2 a. m. on the 9th instant the dwelling' house of James Piercy, 138, Great Knolly's- street, Reading, was broken and entered aud- the following articles stolen therein : two Overcoats, four body Coats, and one Jacket ( since recover* d), five common Spoons, three Knives, three Forks, one steel watch Chaiu, aud one pair of elastic- side Boots, recently clumped. By JOHN CLARK, supposed fictitious, who was discharged from Reading Gaol on the pre- vious morning after a term of six months for larceny, he having left his boot8 behind is- no doubt wearing the stolen ones ; he is 49 years of age, 5 feet inches high, sallow' complexion, grey hair and moustache, grey eyes and long visage, a wart on right side of nose, slightly pockpitted, and is marked with the letter ' D' on left side ; dressed in dark coat with velvet collar and black trousers ; has with him an old blue eoat ( supposed serge) which he is likely to be wearing.
