DESCRIPTION of Martin Higgins, wanted in this borough, charged, with other men now in custody, with causing the death of James Medcalf, by kicking him on tho head and body, at about 8.80 o'clock, P. M., on tho 13th inst.: — About 22 years of age, 6 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, much pockpitted, proportionate build, and recently shaved ; dressed when last seen in dark cloth or Scotch cap with worsted knob at the top and two small tassels over the nib or peak, dark cloth jacket, dark cord vest and trowsers, Militia boots with brass eyelet- holes, and white shirt. Ho has been working as a labourer in an iron foundry at Rochdale, belongs to the 6th Lancashire Militia, and formerly resided in Albert- street, Liverpool. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldham. June 17, 1874. SCOTTISH POLICE. WANTED, at Kilmarnock, N. B., on a charge of aggravated assault and robbery on the 8th instant— John Muir, alias Carson, about 39 y< ars of age, 5 feet 8J inches in height, sallow complexion, light brown or sandy hair, . with beard and bushy whiskers,' hazel eyes, stout figure; scars on both cheeks— one of them very large; has a slight halt in walking; tattooed on right arm with a heart and crown, and initials " J. M," in the heart; dress— dark stripe weed trowsers aud vest of same, gray tweed coat, blue worsted cap, with peak of samo, printed muffler neckerchief, elastic- side boots, check woollen shirt. Has b< on a soldier, and since his discharge has worked on railways, and as an engine- keeper, and also at mining, and as a labourer. Accused has been frequently convicted of theft. DESCRIPTION of Michael Cullinan, native of Gcrta- glough, who stands charged with having, on the 6th of July, 1874, in the barony of Inchiquin, parish of Inagh, maliciously set fire to the dwelling- house of his mother Margaret Cullinan, and stabbed her and his brother John Cullinan, with a hay fork, to prevent their exit from the burning premises:— Has rather downcast look, smart appearance, regular nose a little hollow between the eyes ; small blue eyes, regular nose, fresh florid complexion, long face, stout make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 28 years of age, fair hair, small fair whiskers inclining to auburn, a little beard under chin ; wore a gray frieze frock coat, old tweed trowsers and vest. WHEREAS, on the night of the 38th ultimo, about the hour of 11 o'clock, a party consisting of four men, one of whom was armed with a pistol, attacked the house of William Taylor, at Togher, parish of Ballyburley, barony of Lower Philipstown, in the King's County, and, having fired a shot at him through his bed room door, which wounded him seriously in the breast, they dragged him outside, and beat him severely about the head and body: I hereby offer a reward of FIFTY POUNDS to any porson who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one or more of the party concerned in this outrage. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lords Justices, that, about the hour of 12 o'clock, on the night of the 34th ultimo, the works of the Mulkear River Drainage, near New Pallas, county Limerick, were maliciously injured by some persons at present unknown, by throwing down portions of the em- bankments : Their Excellencies, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, are pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By Their Excellencies' command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by E. B. Warburton, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Castleconnell, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. HABITUAL CRIMINALS UNDEE POLICE SUPERVISION Who have not reported themselves, as required by " The Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871," and who are liable, on conviction, to 12 months' imprisonment. I.
