Description of EDWARD JOHN GERHARD, charged • with forgery : about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, rather round shoulders, bushy grey hair aud whiskers, rather Jewish- looking, and wears gold spectacles ; generally dressed in a rough grey tweed suit and black billy COCK hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Williams, Police Office, Town Hall, Hanley, Staffordshire.— Bow- st., June 22. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Aston, on the 17th ultimo, a gold open- face keyless Geneva Watch, with the maker's name ' Launier, Geneva,' inscribed on the dome in blue and white enamel, white dial, and engine- turned back. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Constabulary Station, Aston- park, Waiwickshire.— Boic- street, Juli/ 1. Stolen from the person of Mrs. Eliza Pickering, of Nnneham, near Oxford, who was a passenger by the 5 20 p. m. train from Paddiugton to Colham : a £ 10 Bank of England Note, No. 64785 ( 72 H.); a £ 5 Note of the Oxford Old Bank ; and £ 3 in Geld. By a man of the following descrip- tion, who was a passenger by the same train to Culbam, and took a ticket by the next train for Reading : about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes, and had the appearance of a gentleman's servant. Informa- tion to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Eernsby, or to Inspector Yates, County Police Station, Oxford.— Bow- street, June 26. FRIDAY, JULY 3, 1874. stolen, a light- brown male Donkey, in good condition, and has been recently clipped. Information to be given to Superintendent Hare, Dorset Constabulary, Dorchester.— How- street, July 3. Stolen from a field adjoining the River Thames Wall near Longreach, in the parish of Dartford, on the night of the 30th ultimo : a Kent Teg Sheep ( shorn), if a ewe, marked with a small black spot on centre of back, if a wether, a black spot on rump. Supposed taken away alive in a boat. Information to be given to Superintendent Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, July 3. Stolen from a gentleman's stables at Wishanger, in the parish of Headley, on the 28th ultimo: a black Mare, 4 years Did, 15 bands 2 inches high, small white star on fore- head, a little white on off hind fetlock, long mane and squared tail, a scar on outside near hind hoof, aud shoes on ; also a red plaid horse Rug, bound with red binding and a Roller. Information to be given to Superintendent Cheyney, Hants Constabulary Station, Alton.— Bow- street, July 3. Stolen from a sheep fold in the parish of Kingston, between 8 p. m. on the 1st and 5 a. m. on the 2nd instant : eighteen Southdown ewe Lambs, in good condition, some marked with a black dot on middle of back, others have two pieces nipped out of the under part of the right ear, forming the letter ' W.,' the remainder have one piece cut out of left year. £ 50 reward will be paid by Hugh Gorringe, Esq, to any person or persons giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders aud recovery of the lambs. Stolen out of a field near Berriew, during the night of the 25th instant : a dark brown mare Pony, 3 years old, 14 hands high, long tail, and white hind fetlock, has been broken to saddle aud harness. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Newtown, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, June 29. Stolen during the night of the 25th instant, from a field at Mr. John Thomas's, of Tynrhyd, near Dolanog, Mont- gomeryshire : an aged bay cart Mare, 15 hands high, white star on forehead, and a white spot on off side of back. Information to be given to Superintendent Strefford, Welsh- pool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, June 29. Stolen on the 20th instant, from a field in Bradford, Yorkshire : a valuable dark brown Filly, 3 years old, 16 hands high, without shoes, clean bred, with long flowing mane. Any person giving such information as may lead to the recovery of the mare, and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 5 reward. The dwelling- house of Mr. Jonathan Grubb, of Melford- road, iu the !>< • >< igh of Sudbury, was broken and entered between 10 ami 11 a. m. on the 28th ultimo, and the following property stolen therein : four Table Spoons, live Dessert J ditto, two Salt ditto, one or two Tea ditto, and a pair of Sugar Tongs, all silver aud marked ' J. E. G.' ; a dark grey Dust Coat, with silk facings; a heavy long rough Great J Coat, nearly black, with blue wool liniugs ; a pair of dark | striped Trousers; a pair of grey ditto, mended at the seat; a silk Hat; aud about 12s. iu Money from missionary boxes. By a tramp, who slept in Sudbury Union the previous night, and gave the name of CHARLES HODSON, 52 years of aga, tall and rather thin, has been in the army, and is marked on his left side with the letter ' D.' ; will in all probabiltity be weariug one of the stolen coats, trousers, and hat, as he left an old coat and hat behind. Stolen between the 13th and the 20th instant, in the city of Durham, by means of housebreaking : a dozen silver Tea Spoons, marked ' L. J. C.'; a silver Snuff Box, engraved on the lid ' L. Absconded from Norwich on the 2nd instant, JOSIAH Gaol for 21 days hard labour, under the Vagrant Act, Jfor BUTTIFANT, late Secretary to the Norwich Building attempting to pick pockets ou the 29th ultimo ; is 33 years of Society, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 300: he is age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, auburn about 56 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches hair, very curly small sandy moustache, no whiskers, full high, light hair ( bald), light small whiskers ( may be shaved face, fern- freckled, rather high cheek bones, part of a ship off), full eyes, small depression on right side of nose near the 1 tattooed ou inside left arm, five dots on hand between fore- end, florid complexion, light jaunty carriage, of respectable finger and thumb, ' R. R.' partly obliterat appearance, and carries a small silver snuff- box. He was | Absconded on the 13th instant, stealing £ 25, the monies of his employer, Mr. John Birmingham, Lord Warden Hotel, Dover: ARTHUR YOUNG, 17 years of age, about 5 feet high, slight build, pale complexion, dark hair and eyes, no whiskers ; dressed in black coat, with pockets on hips, blue necktie, paper collar, and soft felt hat. Stolen on the 21st instant from Northumberland- street, Strand : a lady's black cloth Jacket, trimmed with black jet bnttans, two side pockets on hips, and a small watch pocket on left side; a black silk Skirt, trimmed with alternative flounces of black silk and velvet; a black silk apron, trimmed with fringe. By a woman, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches nigh, fair hair aud complexion ; supposed dressed iu the stolen clothes.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 26. Stolen on the 16th instant, from the dwelling- house of Thomas Brian, of Metal Bridge, near Ferry Hill, Durham, a silver lever Watch, No. snpposed to be 13694, silver dial, and steel hands, had attached a plated Guard and Key, with red stone on one side and white the other : by MARY SIMPSON, alias MARY HARRISON, wno entered Brian's service on the 13th instant aud left on the 16th, 19 years of age, a feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark complexion and eyes, brown hair, and proportionate make; supposed to be a native Sunderland : she has been previously convicted of larceny, and has been in a reformatory school. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary Office, Durham.— Brno- street, June 20. Absconded on the 22nd instant, charged with embezzling the sum of £ 3 13s. on the 30th January last, and divers other sums of Money on other days, the property of Messrs. Beerfoot and Martin, his masters: THOMAS HINKEY, 22 years of age, o feet 2 or 3 inches high, rather thick set, fresh complexion, light brown hair, small light moustache, and no whiskers ; dressed in a light tweed suit and black hard felt hat ; a baker. Information to be given to Super- intendent O'Kill, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent.— Bow- street, June 26. Stolen on the 23rd instant, from a tallow chandler's shop, a Russia, leather Shot Pouch, with German silver top ; a plain Powder Flask, damaged on one side, large top, tho property of John G. Stephenson, of Stokesley, tallow chandler: by a man about 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh com- plexion, stout make, ginger curiy hair ( bald ou top of head), moustache, and imperial ; dressul in dark cloth coat and vert ' very greasy), light grey cloth trousers, white billycock hat, and blucher boots much worn ; a tallow chandler, and a native of Shields ; is well known by tallow chandlers in the counties of Durham aud York, aud has served in the Durham Militia. Was traced to Stockton on the 24th instant, stating he Win making for the city of Durham. Absconded on the 12th instant, charged with embezzling £ 13 : a man, 50 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, ruddy complexion, grey beard and moustache, very little whiskers on side of face, stout and muscular ; dressed in a black frock coat, trousers, and vest, and black hat. He is likely to leave the country. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Scotland- yard, London. — Bow- street, June 24. Absconded on the 19th instant, from Russell- street, covent- garden, charged with stealing £ 2 in Silver and Bronze : a inaD, 1!) years of age, 5 feet high, fair complexion, light brown hair, and lame right knee ; dressed in dark coat . n< l vest, light cloth trousers, heavy lace boots, and round black felt hat. States that he is a native of Roscommon, address; always well dressed, trousers worn large at the Ireland; served his apprenticeship with John Collinson, iron founder, Chapel- street, Birmingham ; his parents reside at Caulson- street, Birmingham, aud that he left there about three months ago.
