CONTAINING The substance of all Informations received in eases of Felony and of Misdemeanors of an aggravated nature, and against Receivers of Stolen Goods, reputed Thieves, and Offenders escaped from Custody, with the time, the place, and the circumstance of the Offence. The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known hut not in custody, and a Description of those who are not knoivn, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. The ames of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. W.," as thoy cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of ROBERT HERBERT FINNEY, late an attendant at tho Bicton Lunatic Asylum, near Shrewsbury, charged ou coroner's, warrant with the manslaughter of Thos. Watkins, late an inmate of the said Asylum, on tlio 12th instant: 21 years of age ( looks older), 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, light whiskers and moustache, beard uhavod, aud stoops a little ; wore a black frock, or a blue serge, coat. Was previously a letter carrier in Liverpool, and is believed to have been in the Liverpool Police Force, is a butcher by trade. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Caswell, County Constabulary Office, Shrewsbury, who holds the coroner's commitment for manslaughter.— Bow- street, June 19. offender. Information to be given to Chief Constable Chip- stead, Borough Police, Wakefield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 22. Stolen from the person at Beverley Races, on the 18th instant: a silver Geneva Watch, No. 7915, with gold Albert Chain and Locket attached ; also from the bar of the Green Dragon public- house: a Cash- box containing about .£ 80, . about £ 45 of which were of the Hall and Beverley Banking Company Notes, mostly £ 5 each, and one £ b Bank of England Note, endorsed with the initials ' Wm. D.' Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Knight, Beverley, Yorks.— Bow- street, June 22. Stolen on the 20th instant, from the person of Caroline Richards, on the platform of the London and South Western Railway Station, at Wimborne : a red Russian leather Purse with clasp, containing between £ 5 and £ 6 in Gold and Silver with a few Coppers ; a Cheque for £ 47 13s. 9d. on the National Provincial 15ank of England, Wareham Branch, drawn by J. A. Panton and H. J. Panton, ( crossed) in favour of Mrs. Richards ; also a 3rd class Railway Ticket, from Wareham to Exeter, No. 476. Supposed by a female about 25 years of age, rather tall, dark complexion, and dark brown hair ; dressed in a black hat, and light brown dress, and has a bold appearance ; she states she had come from Portland, and was going to Exeter, but had only taken a ticket to Yeovil. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Hammond, Dorset Constabulary, Wimborne.— Bow- street, June 22. Stolen from tho person on the 10th inst., at Wakefield : a gentleman's gold lever Watch, No. 14890. Also on the 12th instant: a silver lever Watch, No. 80392. Information to be given to Chief Constable Chipstead, Borough Police Office, Wakefield.— Bow- street, June 17. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. Description of a tramping woman, who gives the name of AGNES MORRIS, remanded until the 18th instant, charged with arson : 48 years of age, 5 feet high, dark hair, hazel eyes, lost several teeth from right side cf upper jaw, three scars on back of right hand, second and third fingers of left hand split near nails; dressed in white cotton sun- bonnet, shepherd's plaid turnover, black nankeen jacket, striped linsey apron, lustro dress, and spring- side boots, all very much worn ; states she is a native of Chelsea, London. Information to be given to Superintendent Day, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire,— Bow- street, June 17. FORGERY. Description of EDWARD JOHN GERRARD, charged with forgery : about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, rather round shoulders, bushy grey hair aud whiskers, rather Jewish- looking, and wears gold spectacles ; generally dressed in a rough grey tweed suit and black billycocK hat. Information to bo given to Chief Constable Williams, Police Office, Town Hall, hanley, Staffordshire.— Bow- st., June 22. Description of two men, charged with forgery, at Stoke- ou- Trent, ou the 25th ultimo : they went to the Goods Ware- house of the North Staffordshire Railway Company, at Stokeon- Treut, and asked for a Case of Pictures, oil paintings,— having got possession of them, ono of them signed the owner's name—' W. Myatt,' in the Delivery Book, took the pictures away, and have not since been heard of. One is named JAMES SULLIVAN, about 40 years of ago, about 5 feot 3 inches high, proportionately made, brown hair, no whiskers, and light moustache ; dressed in black cloth coat, light mixture trousers, and double- breasted vest, of the same material, a black felt hat, and a native of London. The other is named JAMES HIBBERTS, about 5 ft. 9 ins. high, slender make, and dark straight liair ; dressed in black cloth, very shabby appearance, black soft billycock hat, and a native of London. Tluy are hawkers travelling about tho country, and both have licenses taken out at London. Both can be identified, Information to be given to Inspector Bold, North Stafford tihiro Railway Company, Stoke- on- Trent, who holds a warrant for their apprehension, or to Chief Superintendent Oswell, Town Hall, Stoke, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 19. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Wakefield, on the 19th inst: a gentleman's gold skeleton lever Watch, No. 42909, cream- coloured dial, gold hands, centre seconds. £ 5 reward will be pmd for the recovery of the watch and conviction of the BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen between the 13th and the 20th instant, in the city of Durham, by means of housebreaking : a dozen silver Tea Spoons, marked ' L. J. C.'; a silver Snuff Box, engraved on the lid ' L. Cooke ;' a lady's gold Guard Chain, plain pattern ; lady's gold Necklet, with Locket attached, blue enamelled on one side, plain gold the other, with portrait of a lady and girl; a plated silver table napkin Ring ; three or four plain gold Studs ; a pair of gold flowered Solitaires with clasp ; pair of pearl ditto; an aluminium gold Pencil- case; a small gold Brooch, with white stone; a small silver ditto; lady's gold Ring, set with four puce coloured stones, and green stone in centre'; two small tortoiseshell Snuff Boxes; and £ 4 10s. iu Gold and Silver. £ 2 reward will be paid on the recovery of the property, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen on the night of the 11th instant, at Elland, by means of housebreaking : six silver Tea Spoons aud one pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' J. E.'; twelve silver plated Forks, and the following plated articles, all marked ' J. F.' : two Fruit Spoons, two Salt Spoons, two small Ladles, four Table Spoons, two Dessert Spoons, one Fruit Dish, having a carved cow for handle ; and one Fruit Stand. Also two metal Tea Pots; ono black cloth lady's Jacket, black trim- ming aud beaded fringe at bottom ; ditto Ditto, lined with satin, brown metal buttons with glass in centre ; a lady's cashmere Cape, trimmed with lace ; a Mackintosh Coat; and a black alpaca frock Coat, lined with red mixture plaid; the property of Jno. Farrer. Information to be given to Super- intendent Ormsby, West Riding Constabulary, Halifax. Bow- street, June 19. Between 11 p. m. on the 11th aud 6 a. m. on the 12tli instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. George Ride, miller, Sheerness, was burglariously broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein : a light cloth Coat, new, with light glazed lining; a mahogany Pea Box; about 5s.- wortli of Receipt aud Postage Stamps ; six Table Spoons ( four bead and two fiddle pattern), six Tea Spoons ( plain), five ditto ( bead pattern), a pair of Salt Spoon, and a pair of Nutcrackers— all plated ; two silver Ladles; aud a pair of silver Sugar Tongs. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Mayne, Kent County Constabulary, Sittingbourne.— Bow- street, Jun> 19. The dwelling- house of Mr. William Madeley, of Gnosall Heath, near Stafford, was broken and entered on the morning of the 12th instant, and stolen therein : a brown leather Purse, containing 22 Sovereigns, and a Half Sovereign. By a tramp of the following description : about 23 years of age, 5 feot 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair cut short, dark eyes, with a peculiar cast, and face much sun- burnt ; dressed in short dark grey cloth jacket, dark trousers and vest, black cloth cap, fitting tight, aud old military boots worn down on the heels. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Constable, Forebridge, Stafford, or to Sergeant Wheaver, Church Eaton, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 17. Between 1 and 7 a. m. on the 14th instant, the house of Mr. J. H. Glanville, of Berrick Prior, Oxon, was burglariously entered, and the following articles of wearing apparel stolen therein : a large rough grey Overcoat; a grey pea Jacket and Vest of same material; a tweed shooting Jacket, two large inside pockets, and two outside breast pockets; a superfine black frock Coat, lined with silk ; a black cashmere Vest, roll collar ; a pair of brown cloth ribbed Trousers, worn at seats ; a black billycock hat; a nearly new tweed Vest; a pair of Boots, nearly new, toe- capped, marked inside ' Taggett, Oxford ; a pair of strong ditto, nailed, cut on outside near little toe of left foot; an old pair of female's Shoes, lace- up fronts ; a tobacco Pouch ; a briar Pipe in Case ; a pair of Socks, man's size ; a pair of women's cotton Stockings ; and a piece of green Baize. Supposed by tramps ; two pairs of shoes; an old jacket; a cap; a vest; a pair of canvas trousers ; aud a slop were left behind. Information to be given to Superintendent Seers, Police Station, Watlington, Oxon.— Bow- street, June 17. Between 11 p. m. on the 12th, and 6' 30 a. m. on the 13th inst., a dwelling- house in the Wirral division, Cheshire, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein : £ 1 7s. 8| d. in Money; a small bottle of Irish Whiskey, with the name ' John Godwin, Wirral Hotel' on label; and a pocket Knife, with ivory handle, silver mounted at each end, and small plate for name on one side, containing six blades, two large and four small, one of tliem a nail blade. Information to be given to Superintendent Egerton, County Hall, Abbey- street, Birkenhead, Cheshire.— Bow- st., June 17. The dwelling- house of Mr. Henry Fielding, Wellington- road, Handsworth, was entered between 10 p. m. 11th and 7 a. m. on the 12th instant, and stolen ' herein : twenty- nine Spoons, nine Table, twelve Dessert, one Mustard ( marked ' H. F.)\ and seven Tea ; nineteen Forks, ten Dessert, nine Table ; two Sauce Ladles; a Fish Slice, ivoiy handle; six Fish Knives ; four pairs of Nutcrackers, ivory handles ; and five Dessert Knives, pearl handles; all electro- plated. In- formation to be given to Sergeant Steele, Police Station, Handsworth, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, June 17. The dwelling- house of Mr. Edward Hunt, Bridgewater Villas, in the borough of Stockport, was broken and entered during the night of the 3rd instant, and stolen therein : six; Antimacassers ; a photograph Glass, with white handle and brass rim ; anc. a chintz Stool Cover-; the whole of ^ ho property was recovered on the 6th instant, at Macclesfield. By a man about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, pockpitted, dark hair, cut short, hollow on bridge of nose ; dressed in blue pilot swinger jacket, light cord trousers, ragged at bottom, lace- up boots, and black billycock hat; he is supposed to come from Dudley Port. He had broken into several houses in the same neighbourhood a few days before the last named; he was found sleeping in an unoccupied house, at Macclesfield, and made his escape leaving the proceeds of the robberies referred to, behind him. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Moores, Stockport, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 17. The dwelling- house of Mr. William Cook, Grosonor- place, Perry Barr, Handsworth, was entered between ll- 30 p. m. on the 11th and 7' 30 a. m. on the 12th instant, and stolen therein: two doz. ivory- handled Table Knives — one doz. large and one doz. small; one doz. large size Forks; one doz. Dessert Spoons; a half doz. Table Spoons ; a doz. Tea Spoons ; four Salt Spoons ; a Butter Knife ( all plated silver); one doz. Table Knives— six large and six small, all bone- handled. Information to be given to Sergeant Steele, Police Station, Handsworth, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, June 17. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on the 20th instant, from a field in Bradford, Yorkshire : a valuable dark brown Filly, 3 years old, 16 hands high, without shoes, clean bred, with long flowing mane. Any person giving such information as may lead to the recovery of the mare, and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 5 reward. Information to be given to Chief Constable Grauhan, Town Hall, Bradford, York.— Bow- street, June 24. Stolen between the 4th ultimo and the 13th instant, from Dolwen sheep- walk, near Llandinam Pole : nine Ewes, seven Lambs, and five yearling Wethers, marked with a stroke of red raddle across the loins and a spot on the shoulder ; the sheep are pitch- marked with ' H.' iu a compass near the crup and the lambs with single ' H.' on the crup, slope mark underneath the off ear, a slit swallow fork in the point of the near ear, and punch hole in the butt. Any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and con- viction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the sheep, shall receive £ 30 reward, or iu proportion to the number of sheep recovered. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, June 24. Stolen from a field at Marton, near Middlesborougli, on the night of the 18th instant: an aged dark bay Mare, about 16 hands high, white nose, star on forehead, white hind leg, scar on far hock, fired on both forelegs, nearly thorough bred, and the appearance of good quality, has a dark mark the size of a crown piece on far shoulder from a fall, the hair different in colour. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, North Riding Constabulary, South Stockton, or to Inspector Robson, Police Station, North Ormesby, Middlesborough.— Bow- street, June 22. Stolen from a field in the borough of Wolverhampton, on the night of the 3rd instant: an aged dark brown Horse, about 15 hands high, grey hairs on off- shoulder and off- side, black legs, broken knees, and forelegs weak. June 24 Found at Roydon, Essex, and now in the possession of Mr. John Akers, Roydon, farmer: a Lay | Mare, 14 hands high, star on forehead, small saddle marks, . forelegs rather bent, long tail, and in good condition ; supposed to have been stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, Police Station, Epping, Essex.— Bow- street, June 19. Stolen from a field at Austrey, near Atherstone, the pro- perty of Mr. Wm. Collins, farmer, of Austrey, on the night of the 16th instant, a light- brown light cart Horse, aged, from 15 to 16 hands high, long mane and tail, star on fore- head, lumps on breast, saddle mark on back, and an old wound under the tail: by a man, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, 32 years of age, and dressed in a black coat, billycock hat, and light trousers. £ 5 reward on apprehension and convic • tion of the offender. Information to be given to Inspector Hursher, Atherstone, Warwickshire.— Bow- stereet, June 19. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded on the 12th instant, charged with embezzling il3 : a man, 50 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, ruddy complexion, grey beard and moustache, very little whiskers on aide of face, stout and muscular ; dressed in a black frock coat, trousers, and vest, and black hat. He is likely to leave the country. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Scotland- yard, London. —' Bow- street, June 24. Absconded on the 19th instant, from Russell- street, Covent- garden, charged with stealing £ 2 in Silver and Bronze : a man, 10 years of age, 5 feet high, fair complexion, light brown hair, and lame right knee ; dressed in dark coat and vest, light cloth trousers, heavy lace boots, and round black felt hat. Supposed will endeavour to go to Sheffield. — Metropolitan police, E Division, June 24. Absconded from Norwich on the 2nd instant, JOSIAH BUTTIFANT, late Secretary to the Norwich Building Society, charged on a warrant with stealing .£ 300: he service, white with coloured borders; a Tea Service, white ornamented " With red and gold ; several chimney Ornaments ; a pair o£ linen Sheets ; a pair of unbleached Sheets; a pair of white calico Sheets; four new Pillow slips; a chintz Curtain ; a roll of Brussels Carpet, about 8 yards, colours red and green ; and a Sack containing an old Kidderminster bed- room Carpet. By eight young men having with them a costermonger's barrow, who were traced to Windsor, going to Ascot Races. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Slough, or to Inspector Sutton, Bucks Constabulary, Iver.— Bow- street, June 22. Absconded from Eaton, near Chester, on the 13th ii>. st., charged with embezzlement: WALTER CHAPMAN, a clerk, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight build, dark brown hair, slight moustache, no whiskers, has very peculiar eyes, which show only the white parts when talking, the pupils not being visible, and hair parted in centre ; generally dressed in a mixed suit, black billycock hat, square top; supposed to have about £ 20 ia his possession, and a native of London. Information to be given to Chief Super intendent Oldmeadow, County Chief Constable's Office, Fore- gate- street, Chester.— Bow- street, June 19. EDMOND GLENISTER, late of No. 1, Bow- lane, Poplar, is charged with embezzlement : 26 years of age, 5 feet high, grey eyes, large prominent nose, small mous- tache, slight whiskers, fair complexion ; dressed in black frock coat, of respectable appearance, and wore a massive gold Albert chain. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, June 19. Description of CHARLES SAVARA or SALAVARA, who broke out of a dwelling- house in the borough of Warrington, where he worked and lodged, on the night of the 15th instant, stealing therefrom : two black cloth double- breasted frock Coats, nearly new, one with buff sleeve lining, two pockets inside skirts at back, the other with puce striped sleeve lining, and pockets as above ; a black cloth Vest, puce striped lining; a blue ribbed tweed shooting Coat, raised seams in back, two outer pockets each side, none inside, and ubout 50 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, light hair ( bald), light small whiskers ( may be shaved off), full eyes, small depression on right side of nose near the end, florid complexion, light jaunty carriage, of respectable appearance, and carries a small silver snuff- box. He was accompanied by his son : 23 years of age, with light brown hair ( worn long), full eyes, quick spoken, and of gentlemanly address; always well dressed, trousers worn large at the bottoms, generally wears a profusion of jewellery ; speaks a strong Norfolk dialect. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as may lead to his apprehen- sion. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hitchman, Guildhall, Norwich.— Bow- street, June 24. Stolen on the 22nd instant from the house of Henry Crump, No. 6, Milton- street, Tunbridge- road, £ 40 in money. By a man ( lodger) of the following description : about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, and dark complexion ; dressed] in a blue shirt, white cord trousers, white slop, and black hat. Has served in the following ships in the Boyal Navy : Wellesley, Basilisk, rodney, Castor, Boyal Adelaide, Aurora, Aboukir, and Duncan; he was discharged on the 11th Dec., 1873, as an objectionable character. Information to be » giveu to the Head Constable, Police Office, Maidstone, Kent,—- Jimc- ilreet, June 24. Absconded from Hanley on the Dth instant, charged with stealing a Paisley Shawl, a stuff Dress Piece, and a pair of men's Boots, the property of " William Pritchitt: SIMON PHILLIPS, a labourer, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, broad set, nose broken and very flat; dressed, when last seen, in mole- skin trousers with white patches on each knee, check cotton shirt, old lace- up boots, and old soft cap ; he is a native of Glamorganshire, and well known at Cardiff, Sheffield, Bother- ham, Warrington, and Workington. Information to be given to Chief Constable Williams, Borough Police Office, Hanley, Description of GEORGE SHAW, alias ' YORKEY,' who absconded from his lodging at Hayfield, near Chapel- en- age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, shoit grey hair, small moustaohe and imperial, no whiskers, and is slightly lame in one fool; has been a soldier in the German army, is a Prussian, and by trade a hairdresser ; he is charged at Liverpool with a similar offence. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hunt, Warrington, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- rtreet, June 19. Absconded from Bristol, about the 4th instant, charged under warrant with embezzling a large sum of Money, the property of the Overseers and Guardians of the Poor of the Bedminster Union : EDWARD MALLARD, late poor- rate collector, about 55 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, fair hair, carrotty whiskers, hollow cheeks, and rather care- worn appearance; dressed when last seen in a grey tweed suit, and white straw hat, occasionally wears a high black silk hat, and sometimes a black felt bowler hat. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Handcock, Police Office, Bristol.— Bow- street, June 19. complexion, and was dressed when taken away in flannel nightgown, coloured silk shawl, and white cashmere bonnet. Information to be given to Head Constable Barber, Land- port Police Station, Portsmouth, Hants.— Bow- street, June 19. le- Frith, on the 15th instant, stealing £ 18' 12s., the money of Mr. George Hall, of Hayfield: he is 22 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, brown eyes and hair, dark complexion, stout build, thick lips, and a piece split off a front tooth on the right side of upper jaw ; dressed in a suit of black clbth, and hard billycock hat; speaks broad Yorkshire, is foiid of visiting low public- houses and beer- houses and sing- ing and dancing. He took a ticket at Gaid's- bridge Station the same day for the 3' 30 p. m. train for London. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Soam, Chapel- en- le- Frith, who holds a warrant for his appreheusion ; or to Police Con- stable Grace, Hay field, Chapel- en- le- Frith, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, June 22. Stolen on the 17th instant, from a dwelling- house in Moosbarrow cum- Palm : a dark mixture cloth Jacket, a pair of light- coloured striped cloth Trousers ; a black and white striped Vest, and a black and red woollen Muffler, the property of George Mullener. On the 18th instant, the dead body of a newly- born male child was found in Lake Ullswater, near Penrith, quite naked, and did not appear to have been long in the water. There wero picked up on tho side of the lake, near to where tho body was found, and in which it is supposed to have been wrapped when deposited in the water, but which had been washed off, a picco of old calico, brown paper, and thick twine. Was convicted of larceny at the Salford Sessions, 14th April, 1873, and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment and 7 years police supervision.
