DESCRIPTIVE particulars relative to convict James Ryan, ( No. 13,220,) who has broken the conditions of his licence in not reporting himself to the Police on change of residence :— Convicted at Kanturk, county Cork, at Trinity Sessions, on 18th June, 1868, for burglary and robbery, and sentenced to 7 years'penal servitude; 28 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single; by trade a labourer t states he was in the Military Train; born at Millstreet or Blarney, county Cork, where he redded before con- viction ; his friends reside at same place; dark brown hair, gray eyes, brown thin eyebrows, large hooked nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, freckled and pockmarked, thin oval visage, slender make, 5 feet inches high; cupped on each breast. The above- named convict was released from Spike Island Prison, on 17th December, 1873, on an order of licence. The Constabulary at Blarney report that Ryan left the district on the 26th ult. for Dub- lin ; that he intended to walk, and it would take him about 10 days to reach that city ; he was directed- to report himself, but up to the present he has failed to do so. In the event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871, 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. Government Prisons Office, Dublin Castle, June 22, 1874. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Healy, native ( f Gurrane Redmond, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of June, 1874, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Donaghmore, inflicted a wound on the head of John Sullivan, by striking him with a spade and fracturing his skull, thereby placing his life in danger:— Long neck ; is in the habit of stooping his head when walking ; 18 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout make, pale complexion, dark eyes, very long nose, dark hair; wore a dark frieze coat, light cord trowsers, dark vest. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Reale, native of Knockroe, who stands charged with having, on the 4th inst., in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Grean, fractured the skull of John Meehan, who died from the effects thereof on 6th inst.:— Very broad shoulders, slouching walk; blue eyes, long tbin hose, swarthy complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 24 years Of age, brown hair; wore a low ierry hat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest. DESCRIPTION of John Scullion, native of Bellaghy, and Martha M ' Ilhatton, native of Drumanee, who stand charged with having, on 4he 17th March, 1874, in the barony of loughinsholin,' parish of Ballyscullion, formed part of a riotous and unlawful assembly who wrecked the houses of several persons, for which offence they were returned for trial ot the next Londonderry Assizes, but have failed to give bail for their appearance:— 1. John Scullion— Brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thick lips, round full face, very stout make, 6 feet high, about 80 years of ago, dark brown hair and sandy beard; - wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a blacksmith by trade. 2. DESCRIPTION of James Finan, Edward M'Guinness, and James M'Hugh, natives of Cappagh, who, in con- junction with James and Michael Gallagher ( since surrendered), stand charged with having, on the 29th May, 1874, in the barony of Leyny, parish of Killoran, committed a grievous assault on Hugh Bowie, of Cappagh, whereby his life has been placed in danger:— 1. James Finan— Mark of an old cut on first finger of right hand; blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 21 years of age. 2. Edward M'Guinness— Stooped shoulders; gray eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, large mouth, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 21 years of age. 8. James M'Hugh— Dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age. DESCRIPTION of Bridget Phelan, native of She- heirie, who stands charged with having, on tho 14th June, 1874, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Upperchurch, stolen a cow, tho property of Michael Dunne, which she sold to Michael M'Carthy at the fair of Fethard on 16tb instant:— Hardy weather- beaten appearance, tall and thin, long thin jaws ; 36 years of age, fair hair ; wore a dark dress, dark waterproof mantle with long sleeves, plain white cap. Borrisoleigh, June 20, 1874. ( 2312 c.— 4248.) DESCRIPTION of Philip Rourke, Francis Develin, and William Brien, natives of Benemore, who stand charged with having, on the 4th June, 1874, in the barony of Ikerrin, parish of Roscrea, assaulted Stephen Meara, from the cffects of which he was placed in some degree of danger :-•— 1. Philip Rourke— A labourer; gray eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, round fice, stout make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 21 years of age, fair hair; wore a jerry hat, gray tweed coat, tweed trowsers arid vest. 2. Francis Develin— A labourer; blue eyes, regular nose, fair fresh complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 18 years. of age, fair hair; wore a jerry hat, brown coat, tweed trowsers and vest. - 8. William Brien— A labourer; full mouth, thick lips, the upper lip inclined to curl upwards ; bluo eyeS, regular nose, dark complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a jerry hat, dark coat, trowsers and - vest. Roscrea, June 16, 1874. ( 2270 o.— 4157.) DESCRIPTION of Patrick Dooley, native of Foxb :> ro', and Thomas Ryan, native of Ballinakill, who stand, charged with having, on the 11th day of May, 1874, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Aghna- meadle, assaulted John Gleeson, at Park, county Tipperary, by striking him with stones on the head, and kicking him, thereby endangering his life: — 1. Patrick Dooley, fresh cut mark over right eye, awl he has a large mouth, very red face; hazel eyes, regular nose, red complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 80 years of ago, red hair ; wore ordinary country dress. gA 2. Thomas Ryan, stoops his head", and i his right arm across his body in a manner whl^ k lould attract attention, wears his hat rather much at the back of his head; gray eyes, regular nose, sallow com- plexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 19 years of age ; wore ordinary country dress. These men are likely being sheltered in the mountainous parts and bogs of this and adjoining counties. Borrisoleigh, May 17, 1874. ( 1908 o.— 8520.) DESCRIPTION of John Barragry, native of Glass- drum, who stands charged with having, on the 9 th May, 1874, at Glassdrum, in the barony of Kilna- managh Lower, parish of Donohill, violently assaulted Martin Ryan, from the effects of which he has sinco died :— High narrow shoulders, very stupid and heavy appearance, speaks with a drawl, walks with a swagger, short neck ; regular nose, fair complexion, large teeth, the eye teeth exposed, particularly when speaking; is medium make, 6 feet 6 inches high, about 21 years of age, light brown hair, no board or whiskers; wore a dark frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a carpenter by trade. THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, JUNE 23, 18742 HABITUAL CRIMINALS UNDER POLICE SUPERVISION Who have not reported themselves, as required by " The Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871," and who are liable, on conviction, to 12 months' imprisonment. I. Sub- Inspectors are to report without delay to " The Registrar of Habitual Criminals, Dublin Castle," the names and descriptions of all persons under supervision reporting themselves in their respective Districts. II. Also to report to the " Directors of Government Prisons, Dublin Castle," in all cases in which it may come to the knowledge of the Constabulary that convicts are in any way infringing the conditions of their licences.
