C. *** Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and. an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any aiticlo in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Amy, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office Pall Mall, London, S. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. of gold Ear- rings, 20 gold Rings, 10 silver Albert Chains, and 30 gold Pins of various patterns ; also 6 elictro- plated Forks and some Tea Spoons, marked ' A. E. B.' Information to be given to Chief Constable Palin, Town Hall, Manchester. — Bow- street, May 8. The house of EVAN EDWARD, at Wyse Common, parish of Nun Savage, was broken into between 12 noon and 7 p. m., on the 2nd instant, and stolen therein : a silver verge Hunting Watch, with seconds, without glass, No. 1809, maker ' John Yates, Wandsworth,' on works ; also an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, bull's- eye glass, a little bit chipped off the edge of the glass. Three men were seen in the neighbourhood, two of them short and stout, one with a round brown jacket, dark trousers, billycock hat, and sandy whiskers, the other two dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Collis, Cleobury Mortimer, Salop.— Bow- st., May 6. On the night of the 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of H. T. Burmster, Esq., Weston Lodge, near Boss, was broken into, and a meerschaum Pipe stolen therein. Also, on the same night, the dwelling heuse of James Meredith, Sandywav, in the parish of Weston, was broken into, and a black cloth ribbed single- breasted skirted Jacket, and a black cloth Vest, stolen therein. Information to be given to Superintendent Cope, Police Station, Boss, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, May 6. Between 11 am. and 7 p. m. on the 28th ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mary Skinner, Taynton, was broken into and stolen therein : one drab- coloured Dress, one black and white woollen Shawl, one pair of white Stockings, one black cloth Jacket and Vest, one pair of doeskin Trousers, one black Jim Crow Hat, and four coloured silk Handkerchiefs. Sup- I posed by a man 24 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, very small light whiskers, and is a little round shouldered ; wears a grey cap Stolen from Thame Market on the 14th ultimo, the pro- perty of C. J. Shrimpton, Tetsworth, Oxon, a long- wool store ram Teg, witb long ruddle mark on side. £ 5 will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen from a field at Feathers tone, Yorkshire, during the night of the 23rd ultimo, a mare Pony in foal, aged, about ll£ hands high, dark cream colour, and marked with tho- letter ' D' on left hip, the property of Roland Hill, black- smith. Information to be given to Superintendent Hall, West Riding Constabulary, Pontefract— Bow- street, May 1. Stolen on tlie 13th ultimo, from the Kent and Mersey- Canals at Moston, near Sandbach : a brown Mare, 9 years old, 14i hands high, appears to be in foal. Also a smoky roan horse Pony, aged, about 12 hands high, the property of Joseph Jones, of Burslem, the liquidator of the Traders' Carrying Company ( Limited). By THOMAS GREEN, alias SOBETOES, and RICHARD TAYLOR, two boat- men in the Company's employ, who absconded at the time ot the robbery. Green is about 20 y ears of age, 6 feet high, swathy complexion, sandy hair, and no whiskers ; Taylor is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, brown hair, and walks lame through some deformity in his hips. They are both natives of Runcorn and are well known on the Duke of Bridgewater" s Canal. Information to be given to Inspector Hulme, Constabulary Station, Sandbach, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- st., May 1. SMITH, late a goods checker on the North British Bail way at Edinburgh, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, slender build, pale complexion, aud small light whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, slate- coloured trousers, black billycock hat, and low lace- up shoes with square toes; has been to sea. Information to bo given to Chief Constable Hemiugway, City Police Office, Carlisle, Cumberland. -- Bow- street, May 8. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Description of a youth charged with highway robbery at Stonnall, near Walsall, on the 4th instant, he produced a clasp knife and demanded Money from two ladies, aud took from them a small paper Parcel, containing a female's old brown cloth Jacket: he is about 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, freckled face, and average build ; dressed in dark cloth cap, with peak, old black cloth jacket, light coloured trousers, strong hob- nailed lace- up have worked in some iron work. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in the borough of Middlesborough, on the evening of the 31st ultimo : a gold lever double- cased hunting Watch, medium size, maker ' Thomas Roberts,' engraved on inner case, cream- coloured dial, black figures, gold hands, aud second pointer, engine- turned cases, and had the bow broken off. Between 7 p. m. on the 4th and 4- 50 a. m. on the 5th instant, a pawnbroker's shop in Manchester was broken into and stolen therein ; about 300 links of coral Beads, 120 pairs Staffordshire.— Bwstmt, May 4, LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded frcm Wells, Somersetshire, on the 28th ult-, charged with embezzling several sums of Money belonging to the Great Western Bail way Company : LUKE RICHARD- SON, a porter belonging to the above- named Company, from 40 to 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, proportionate make, sallow complexion, dark hair and whiskers, and is rather round- shouldered ; dressed when he left Wells in a dark witney overcoat, bowler bat, and his uniform cord trousers ; he was seen on the above date walking on the road in the direction of Bristol, with which place he is well acquainted. Description of HENRY EDWARDS, late carter for Mr. Miles, of Saxlingham, miller, for whose apprehension a warrant bfis been issued, ou a cuarge of embezzlement : he is 46 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, stiff build, grey eyes, flat nose, brown hair, broad across the shoulders, has a scar on the top of his head on right side, caused by the bite of a horse ; dressed when last seen, on the 4th ultimo, in a fclack cloth short coat, vest, and trousers, and low- crowned bat. Information to be given to Superintendent Riches, Loddon, Norfolk.— Bow- street, May 8. Stolen from a stable at Henderwell, on the 29th ultimo, the property of John Smith aud Thomas Huttou : a grey tweed cloth Coat aud a cord Vest ( since recovered pledged). By a man, from 26 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh or ruddy complexion, no whiskers, and rather stout ; dressed iu an old blue pilot cloth jacket, old cord or moleskin trousers, and low stiff black hat ; of dirty appear- ance, will probably be found iu a common lodging- house, and said he was making for Hull. Absconded on the 30th ultimo, charged with stealing £ 47 3s. 9d. : a man, 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, brown hair and eyes, sallow complexion ; dressed in dark tweed cloth coat, pockets on hips, light cloth trousers, side- spring boots, and round felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, May 6. Stolen at Knaresborough, on the 4th instant : a very large- sized gold pateut lever Watch, No. 16758, jewelled, engine- turned case, gold dial, seconds baud, chronometer balance, small dinge in outer case ; gold albert Guard in two parts, gold Key, with stone on each side, one light and the other dark colour, the key pipe broken off. Stolen on the 4th instant, from a field at James Bridge, near Walsall, a dark brown horse Pony, aged, about 12 hands boots, and had a short thick stick in his baud ; appeared to high, long black tail and mane, and in good condition. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire.-— Bow- street, May 8. Stolen early on the morning of the 3rd ultiroo : a dark brown Gelding, 15 hands 3 iuches high, nearly thorough bred, has been fired on both hocks; also a bay cob Gelding, 14 hands 3 inches high, lame iu near fore leg, and had a head collar on. £ 25 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the recovery of the horses, and conviction of the Offender or offenders. Stolen from a field at Forton, parish of Montford, on the night of the 28th ultimo : a mare Pony, aged, about 12 bauds high, mouse colour, tail cut short, and mane cut on near side, lame iu off hind hip ( shows it when trotting), lately shod, and is the property of John Richards, of Broomfields. Stolen from a field at Orgreave, in the parish of Ycxxall, since the 28th ultimo, a dark bay horse Pony, aged, about 14 hands high, in good condition. Information to bo given to Superintendent Bowen, Police Station, Bivrtou- on- Trent, December, 1S67, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude in the name of Henry Jones ; he is a native of Leamington, a painter, aud was discharged on license on the 20th May, 1S73. Stolen from the shop of Mr. Frisby, tailor, Hallaton, on the 29th ultimo: a blue- ribbed ctoth Coat, cut across the waist, two pockets under flaps in the seams, bound with black braid, and black cloth buttons ; a double- breasted Waistcoat of the same material ; and a pair of bide- spriug boots, much worn. He was discharged from Maidstene Gaol on the 1st instant, where he had served seven dayH for being drunk and disorderly at Dartford. He has a sister residing at Chiselhurst, Kent. Stolen from the house of James Gades, No. 25, Rocky- hill, on the 27th ultimo: an old- fashioned silver Watch, maker Noakes, Berwash ^ a pair of dark Trousers and a Waistcoat, with light stripe. By a man about 36 years of age, about 5 feet 2 inches high, dark whiskers, meeting under chin; dressed IU black cloth trousers aud waistcoat, blue serge frock, black billycock hat; he stated that he was an engiue fitter on the South Eastern line. Edmunds, Llandrinio : PAUL BRISCOE, a groom, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, light complexion, uo whiskers or beard ; he is a native of Rednal, near Oswestry, Salop, and is well known in the north of Shropshire. Charged on a wa- rrant with embezzlement, ALFRED JAMES MATTHEWS, late of 46, Westmoreland- road, Walworth : he is 27 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light auburn hair, blue eyes ( occasionally weak or inflamed), small sharp features, large nosa, very small whiskers, sanay moustache, aud thin build; generally wears dark clothes. Description of SAMUEL FARRAH, manager aud traveller for Mrs. Lance, tea dealer, & c., for whose appre- hension a warrant, has been issued on a charge of embezzlement: he is about 48 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stilf built, grey eyes, dark hair, uo beard or whiskers, light moustache, very fre* li looking ; dressed when la.-. t seen at Hull, ou the 24th inttant, in light grey suit, sometimes wears a black coat, black aud white plaid trousers, and black stiff felt hat.
