DESCRIPTION of the under- mentioned, who stands charged with having embezzled £ 280 and upwards, that came into his hands in his capacity of Actuary in the Savings Bank, Abbey- street, Dublin, viz.:— Robert Wellington Jones, from 60 to 56 years old, about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, rather stout build, sandy hair and full sandy beard tinged with gray, fresh or florid complexion, gentlemanly appearance, respec- tably clad, generally in black cloth clothes, and recently resided at 99, Lower Mount- street, Dublin. X DESCRIPTION of Alexander Gordon, native of Tully- rawley, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 21st February, at Ballywatermoy, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Craigs, inflicted wounds on the head of John Treacy, of Dunmining, from the effects of which he died on the 24th :— Very smart active appearance, rather slender make, downcast look ; regular nose, dark complexion, sharp face, 6 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 80 years of age, dark hair; shaved his cheeks on a line with mouth, wore his beard from that round and under chin, no moustache; wore a cloth cap with rough edging, moleskin jacket, cord trowsers. DESCRIPTION of a boy who gives his name as Michael Mahony, native of Peter- street, Waterford, who was arrested at Borris on the 19th April, 1874, on suspicion, and who states that he was convicted of larceny in February, 1872, and sentenced to 2 weeks' imprisonment in Clonmel Gaol, and 5 years in Glencree Reformatory, from which he absconded last summer :— Large mark of burn on front of left shin, mark as of burn under and on right shoulder- blade ; gray eyes, short nose, fresh complexion, broad face, rather stout make, 4 feet 11 inches high, about 15 years of age, light brown hair, dark heavy eye- brows, low forehead, hair growing down to eyebrows. His statement is supposed to be incorrect, but he may have committed offences elsewhere. He has been remanded to Carlow Gaol till 27th instant. Borris, April 20, 1874. ( 1527 c.— 2847.) Michael Field— Smart active appearance, wears a slight moustache, the rest of the face shaved; blue eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, rather long face, smart make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 26 years of age, sandy hair; wore a black coat, light fowsers. 2. John Field— Long sandy whiskers ; blue eyes, regular nose, fresh conplexion, thin face, stout make, 6 feet 9 inches high, about 39 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of Cornelius Driscoll, native of Ballinlough, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 20th inst., in the barony of East Car- beiy, West Division, parish of Kilmacabea, struck Denis Driscoll a blow of a stick on the head, from the effects of which he died on the following morn- ing :— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, rather long face, stout make, 5 feet 7- J inches high about 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft round hat, blue coat and trowsers ; smart intelligent appearance ; has a very keen look about the eyes, and has the appearance of a man of determination; his hair hangs about the sides of his head as if recently wetted, it is long and straight and rather thin. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lords Justices, that, on the night of the 2nd, or morning of the 8rd instant, some person or persons at present THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, APRIL 24, 1874. unknown, cut of! the tails of 30 calves which were grazing on the lands of J. D. Hutchinson, esq., J. P., of Timooney Park, Roscrea : Their Excellencies, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, are pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By Their Excellencies' command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Henry Grattan Curran, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Parsonstown, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation.
