DUBLIN, TUESDAY, MARCH 31, 1874. ENGLISH POLICE. CITY AND BOROUGH OF CHESTER. £ 25 REWARD. STOLEN, from a dwelling- house, at Chester, at 7.15 p. m., Tuesday, the 10th March, 1874, ( entrance being obtained through a bed- room window,) the following property, viz.:— A gentleman's gold hunting watch, maker " Ros- kell," Liverpool, and " J. M. T." on case, No. 65,043; a lady's gold Geneva, « ' Tresseau, Geneve, " on dial, No. 3,143; a gold Albert swivel key, having green stone with boar's head on one side, and " J. M. T." on the other; a diamond ring, set with 5 stones, " E. M. R," and " J. M. T." on the inside; a ring, sapphire in contro and two diamonds, engraved " J. M. T. to E. M. R., 16th April, 1861; » a ring, with emerald in centro, and two diamonds, Indian setting; a lady's nocklet and appendage, set with diamonds and rubies; a lady's necklet, with large carbuncle and Blido— a photograph of a gentleman on one side; a diamond brooch, set with 8 small stones and 1 large, and with gold tassel; a Florentine Mosaic brooch, with jossamine and forget- me- nots; a Roman Mosaic brooch, pattern— a temple; a silver dessert spoon, initials " E. M. R., 1846 ;" and several other rings and brooches*. w Tho above reward will be paid to anyone giving suoh information as shall lead to the convietion of the thief or thieves and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. S'IOLEN from the bed- room of a public- house in Chester, on the 26th March, 1874 ( a horse- fair day):— A lady's gold lever watch, No. 4940, no maker's name, engine- turned; a diamond ring, single stone, claw set ; a gold guard ring, in box with glass centre ; a garnet ring, with pearl on each side; a small turquoise and pearl cluster ring; a broad 18- carat keeper; a gold wedding ring, in box with glass centre ; 8 small gold antique oblong box brooches ( 1 reddish gold); a gold secret- link lady's chain ; a black enamel and gold lady's locket; a small engraved locket; a small gold seal, white cornelian with owl as crest; a small gold red cornelian seal; a largo gold seal, topaz with three initials; an oblong Mosaic brooch with figure of dog, and gold mounted; a gold tie brooch; a white cornelian brooch, with turquoise sprays, gold mounted ; a lady's very thin gold chain. The above reward will be paid for such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves. DeSCRIPTION of Richard Murphy, who is charged wi'h having feloniously personated another person at tho late Parliamentary Elections for the borough of Dublin, held on the 6th ult.:— He is about 19 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, medium make, dark complexion and dark hair, brown or dark colour eyes, walks orect with a smart gait, generally woars dark colour clothes, he is a grocer's assistant, and was so employed some time ago at Taghmon, county Wexford, which is his native town. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. DESCRIPTION of Alexander Gordon, native of Tully- rawley, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 21st February, at Ballywatermoy, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Craigs, inflicted wounds on the head of John Treacy, of Dunmining, from the effects of which he died on the 24th:— Very smart active appearance, rather slender make, downcast look ; regular nose, dark complexion, sharp face, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 80 years of age, dark hair; shaved his cheeks on a line with mouth, wore his beard from that round and under chin, no moustache; wore a cloth cap with rough edging, moleskin jacket, cord trowsers. The Coroner's Jury found him guilty of homicide, and a Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Ballymena. Ballymena, February 26, 1874. ( c. 862— 1519.) DESCRIPTION of James Smith alias Jumper Smithi native of county Monaghan, who stands charged with having, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankill, absconded to evade trial at Assizes, for serving threatening notices during the riots atBelfast in August, 1872:— Scar on left temple, tuft of black hair on chin ; brown eyes, straight nose, sallow com- plexion, oval face, proportionate make, 6 feet £ inch high, about 80 years of age, black hair; wore a soiled black cloth cap with peak and broad crown such as is worn by navvies, short blue coat ( much worn), moleskin trowsers and vest, navvy boots. DESCRIPTION of Anne Walker, native of Killano, county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 17th March, 1874, in the barony of Clankee, parish of Bailieborough, absconded, she being a witness and bound to appear to give evidence at Bailieborough Petty Sessions on 17th March, 1874 : — Well- looking ; smart appearance ; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular fsce, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair wore a gray woollen shawl, blue stuff dress. DESCRIPTION of a man and a woman, names unknown, natives of Cork, who stand charged with having, on the morning of the 28th March, 1874, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Carrigrohan, seriously assaulted Sub- Constables Bowden and Landy, of the Blarney station, by striking them on the head with a hammer and stones, when in the act of arresting them on a charge of having, in a donkey's car, 2 bags of fowl which were stolen :— 1. A man unknown— Stout make, 6 feet 2 inches high, about 40 years of age, light hair; wore a tweed coat, trowsers and vest. 2. A woman unknown— Stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age ; wore a black cloak over the head, and was barefooted. They were accompanied by a man named Denis Shea, who is in custody, and states he is from Collins'- lane, Cork. This man is a rag and bone gatherer, and most likely the man and woman wanted are of the same occupation, and will in all probability be found near the same locality. Ballincollig, March 29, 1874. DESCRIPTION of Cornelius Driscoll, native of Ballinlough, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 20th inst., in the barony of East Car- bery, West Division, parish of Kilmacabea, struck Denis Driscoll a blow of a stick on the head, from the effects of which he died on the following morn- ing :— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, i ather long face, stout make, 5 feet 7^ inches high, about 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft round hat, blue coat and trowsers ; smart intelligent appearance; has a very keen look about the eyes, and has the appearance of a man of determination; his hair hangs about the sides of his head as if recently wetted, it is long and straight and rather thin. Has been in America and speaks with a slight American accent; he will certainly endeavour to get back to Aoicric& i Skibbereen, Oct. 28, 1873. ( o. 60440— 19044.) James Diver— Large thick lips, prominent teeth ; gray eyes, long nose, dark complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 85 years of age, dark hair; wore a low hard felt hat, worn on back of head, dark coat and trowsers. 2. James Harraghy— Sharp nose, dark complexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, ubout 46 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a low black felt hat, dark frieze frock coat, dark trowsers and vest. Fermanagh: DESCRIPTION of Philip Maguire alias Roe, native of Gortahurk, and Joseph M'Intyre or M'Intaggart, native of Aughyoule, who stand charged with having, on the 17th day of March, 1874, in the barony of Knockninny, parish of Tomregan, with others, grievously assaulted Michael Maguire, by striking him on the head with sticks or loaded butts, from the effects of which his life is in danger :— 1. Philip Maguire alias Roe— Holds his head down, when walking ; gray tender eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age; wore a green necktie with a harp on it. 2. Joseph M'Intyre or M'Intaggart— Gray eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age. Arney, March 20,1874. ( c. 1158— 2120.) Galway. DESCRIPTION of John Farrell, native of Claddagh, Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 14th March, 1874, in the barony of Clonmacnowen, parish of Kilcloony, and town of Ballinasloe, absconded with £ 3, the price of a cow, the property of Thomas Fahy and Martin Fay, of Kilclooney :— Supposed to have blue marks on his arms, has a military appearance ; brownish eyes, regular nose, pale red complexion under eyes, long thin face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 45 or 46 years of age, brown hair turning gray, getting bald on top of head, black moustache, no whiskers; wore a round hat, gray frieze outside coat, black tweed frock coat, black corduroy trowsers, black cloth vest. Michael Joyce— walks slovenly, has a cunning appearance ; dark eyes, regular nose, sallow com- plexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, black hair; wore a low hat, black frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, black frieze vest 3. William O'Brien— wears all his beard except a small portion on the chin ; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 25 years of age, very fair hair; wore a white hat, dark frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. 4. Thomas O'Brien— Loose appearance s gray eyes, long nose,, fair complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 80 years of age, black hair; wore a low round hat, dark frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. 5. DESCRIPTION of John Cassidy, native of Sonaghbeg, who stands charged with having, on the 20th March, 1874, at Sonaghbea, in the barony of Mohill, parish of Cloone, struck Bernard Conlon with a spade on the head, from the effects of which his life is in danger:— Short neck, bow- legged, very wide nostrils, and very activs appearance ; blue eyes, long thin nose, sallow complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 3B years of age, black hair, wore all his whiskers' ( very black) ; wore a jerry hat, blue frock eoat, white cord trowsers, dark tweed vest. DESCRIPTION of James Wallace, native of Dromod, who, on the 14th of January, 1874, left his home, in the barony of Mohill, parish of Annaduff, to • go to Cloonkeel, Killashee, county Longford, and has not since returned, and is supposed to have met with foul play :— Blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, small face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 85 years of age, fair hair; he wore all his beard, which is fair; wore a round hat, light- coloured coat, tweed trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of Edmond Dwyer, 2,200, native of Castleconnell, county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on or about the 19th March, 1874, in the barony of Limerick, parish of Saint John, broken the conditions of his licence in omitting to report himself te the Police on change of residence:— Worn cutmark on middle of forehead; small wart on left side of neck; cutmark on back of left wrist; sign of a sore under right knee, sore mark on top of right shoulder4; dark gray eyes, black eyebrows, regularnose, large mouth, sallow complexion, thin face, average make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 36 years of age, black hair; wore a low jerry hat, blue pilot smock frock, cord trowsers, black cloth vest.
