ABSCONDED from this borough, on the 9th instant, charged with manslaughter— John Ragan, an Irish- man, native of county Leitrim, a labourer, sometimes at ironworks, other times with bricklayers ; 95 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, broad face, stout made, a scar on left cheek, had a dark moustache; and no whiskers, supposed to be dressed in a dark coat, fustian trowsers and cloth cap. Information to be given to Mr. E. J. Saggerson, Chief Constable. Middlesbrough, February 10, 1874. STOT. « I » , from a dwelling- house in this borough, fn tho 7th instant, about £ 14 in gold, and a silver Geneva watch, gold figures, Ne. 8092, maker's name " J. W. Benson," had attached a silver Albert guard and silver chain, cable pattern— by a man who gave ihe name of John White, a railcarrier, who lodged at tho house for about 2 years, and stated that he was a native of London and ha « worked on the railway there, supposed as a platelayer— about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, broad features, black whiskers, no moustache ; walks very erect; dressed in blue pilot cloth coat bound with black braid, dark gray striped trowsers and vest, blark and white plaid woollen shirt, black and white plaid scarf, black bedy hat, and laced- up boots. DESCRIPTION of convict James Atkinson, 2210, who has broken the conditions of his licence in not reporting himself to the Constabulary :— Convicted at Lurgan, county Armagh, at Hilary Sessions, on ( Hh January, 1868, for larceny, and sentenced to 7 years' ponal servitude; 18 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is an Episcopalian, single, a tailor, prison trade a labourer; was born at llamilstown, county Armagh; he resided before con- viction in Markethill, county Armagh; brown hair, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, thick nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet inches high ; cut- mark on left thumb ; two small spots, thus— on middle of back; a brown mole on throat. The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, 5th April," 1873, on an order of licence. The \ Constabulary at Dock- street Station, Belfast, report that Atkinson, who was residing in that district since his discharge, has failed to report himself at that • tation, on the 1st instant. In the event of his arrest, ho should be dealt with under the 5th section of the " Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871," ( 84 and 35 Vic., cap. 112). DESCRIPTION of John Williamson, native of Connor, county Down, who stands charged, on the oath of his sureties, with having absconded for the purpose of evading justice, he having been admitted to bail by order of the Court of Queen's Bench, conditioned for his appearance at the next Spring assizes to be held at Belfast, to stand his trial on a charge of firing a loaded revolver at Sub- Constables Roderick Kehoe, James Jordan, and' John Hughes, on the 9ih Octo- ber, 1873, in the barony of Upper Belfast, and parish of Shankill : — Surly appearance, dark sunken eyes ; regular nose, dark complexion, round shaven face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 85 years of age, brown hair; wore a silk hat, gray Ulster overcoat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; wears two gold rings on each hand, and a long gold chain recently purchased; is a dealer in old brass and copper. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Kelly, native of Shandrum, who stands charged with having, on the 18th inst., at Shandrum, in the barony of Ibrickan, parish of Kilmurry, with two of his brothers, who arein custody, seriously assaulted Michael Kelleher, so as to en- danger his life :— Mark of a cut over one of his eyebrows, heavy gait when walking ; blue eyes, long nose, sandy complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 81 years of age, red hair; wore a soft jerry hat, frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of Cornelius Driscoll, native of Ballinlough, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 20th inst., in the barony of East Car- bery, West Division, parish of Kilmacabea, struck Denis Driscoll a blow of a stick on the head, from the effects of which he died on the following morn- ing :— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, rather long face, stout make, 5 feet 7$ inches high; about 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft round hat, blue coat and trowsers ; smart intelligent appearance; has a very keen look about the eyes, and has the appearance of a man of determination ; his hair hangs about the sides of his head as if recently wetted, it is long and straight and rather thin. DESCRIPTION of a mare, the property of Daniel Roarke, which was stolen from the lands of Artane South, parish of Coolock, barony of Coolock, on the 7th day of February, 1874:— An iron- gray cob mare, 14 hands high ; one of the fore hoofs larger than the o'her from blistering, mark of blistsring on near hind leg below fetlock joint; sore marks on each side of back under straddle, and on breast by collar ; long mane and tail, long hair on body from being out during winter ; 6 years old, and value for £ 17. DUBLIN CASTLE, 7th February, 1874. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, at the hour of nine o'clock, on the evening of the 4th instant, John Walsh, butcher, of Askeaton, in the county of Limerick, while standing at his own door, was fired at and killed by some person or persons unknown ; His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Excellency's command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by C. De Gernon, the Resident Magistrate at Rathkeale, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Philip Purcell and Thomas Purcell, ( brothers,) natives of Highpark, who stand charged with having, on the 12th of January, 1874, in the barony of Smallcounty, parish of Cahircorney, assaulted Timothy Corbett, and struck him with a stone on his head, thereby causing a fracture of the skull, from the effects of which he now lies danger- ously ill in the county Infirmary ; — 1. Philip Purcell — Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a jerry hat, dark frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest. 2. Thomas Purcell— Dark eyes, short thick nose, dark complexion, short face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, ahout 18 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Reale, native of Knockroe, who stands charged with having, on the 4th inst., in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Grean, fractured the skull of John Meehan, who died from the effects thereof on 6th inst. :— Very broad shoulders, slouching walk; blue eyes, long thin nose, swarthy complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a low jerry hat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest. Robert Craig ( obtaining money under false pre- tences) not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th May, 1873. Mayo. DUBLIN CASTLE, 6th February, 1874. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, on the evening of the 6th of January last, Mr. Richard A. Fitzgerald, the accountant of the National Bank at Castlebar, when returning from Newport, in the county of Mayo, was fired at and wounded by some persoii or persons at present unknown, and the cash- box, containing a large sum of money, the properly of the Bank, was forcibly carried off by the said person or persons : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same; and a reward of FIFTY POUNDS to any person who shall, within the same period, give such private information as shall lead to the same result. By His Excellency's command, T. H. BURKE. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by Rodolphus Harvey, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Castlebar, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of John M'Hale and Michael M'Hale, natives of Ballygarden, who stand charged with having, on the 28th of January, 1874, in the barony of Carra, parish of Turlough, assaulted James M'Hale, of Ballygarden. so as to endanger his li'e :— 1. John M'Hale— Short- sighted; gray eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair, no beard or whiskers; wore a frieze coat, cord trowsers. 2. Michael M'Hale— Walks as if he had a halt on right s: de; may have a fresh cut on face and head; gray eyes, large nose, pale complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a flannel coat, cord trowsers. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Frain, native of Kilgaiiff, who stands charged with having, on the 12th No- vember, 1873, at Kilgariff, in the barony of Costello, parish of Kilebeagh, grievously assaulted Patrick M'Donogh, by striking him with a stone on the head, thereby endangering his life :— Short thick nose, short neck, high cheek bones ; mark of an old cut on forehead ; rather broad face ; brown eys, red complexion, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a round hat or cap, dark frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, frieze vest.
