AHSCONDED from this borough, on the 9th instant, charged with manslaughter— John Ragan, an Irish- nrlan, native of eount. y Leitrim, a labourer, sometimes at ironwork", other times with bricklayers ; 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, broad face, stout made, a scar on left cheek, had a dark moustache; and no whiskers, supposed to be dressed in a dark coat, fustian trowsers and cloth cap. Information to be given to Mr. E. J. Saggerson, Chief Constable. Middlesbrough, February 10, 1874. Benson," had attached a silver Albert guard and silver chain, cable pattern— by a man who gave the name of John White, a railcarrier, who lodged at the house for about 2 y< ars, ancW stated tbat he was a native of Lond< n and hai worked on the railway there, supposed as a platelayer— about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, broad features, black whiskers, no moustache ; walks very erect; dressed in blue pilot cloth coat bound with bla-' k braid, dark gray striped trowsers and vest, bla'- k and white plaid woollen shirt, black and wh te plaid t carf, black body- bat, and laced- up boots. Convict Michael Leech, 13027, who has broken the conditions of his licence, in having left Dublin without reporting his departure to the Metropolitan Police, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 24th January, 1873. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. The after- described two men, who are brothers, are strongly suspected of being concerned in the jewel robbery here on the 6th or 7th December, 1873, and, as they are supposed to be in possession of part of the stolen jewelhry, Police officers are requested to use every exertion in tracing out their where- abouts, and, should any of \ he stolen pr perty be traced to the possession of either of them, apprehend, detain, and communicate with the subscriber:— Peter Graham— 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches in height, slender make, face thin and pale, hair black, short thin black whiskers, marks of old sores on neck boliind jaw, and a native of England. Michael Graham— private soldier in the Royal Artillery, presently stationed in Limetick — s- ee " Police Gazette" of ftth January current, where he ie returned as a deserter. He was in Dundee on furlough at the time of the robbery. He is yeats of age, 5' feet 6g inches in height, hair black, eyes hazel, scar on back of left leg, born in New- castlc- on- Tyne. DESCRIPTION of convict James Atkinson, 2210, who has broken the condilions of his licence in not reporting himself to the Constabulary :— Convicted at Lurgan. county Armagh, at Hilary Sessions, on 6th January, 1868, for larceny, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 18 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is an Episcopalian, single, a tailor, prison trade a labourer; was born at Hamilstown county Armagh; he resided before con- viction in Markethill, county Armagh ; brown hair, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, thick nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet y^ inches high ; cut- mark on left thu < b ; two small spots, thus— o, on middle of back ; a brown mole on throat. The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, 5th April, 1873, on an order of licence. The Constabulary at Dock- street Station, Brl/ ast, report that Atkinson, who was residing in that district since his discharge, has failed to report himself at that station, on the 1st instant. In the event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the " Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871," ( 34 ami 35 Vic., cap. 112). DESCRIPTION of Cornelius Driscoll, native of Ballinlough, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 20th inst., in the barony^ of East Car- bery, West Division, parish of Kiltnacabea, struck Denis Driscoll a blow of a stick on the head, from the effects of which he died on the following morn- ing:— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, rather long face, stout make, 5 feet 7^ inches high, about 35 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a soft round hat, blue coat and trowsers ; smart intelligent appearance; has a very keen look about the eyes, and has the appearance of a man of determination ; his hair hangs about the sides of his head as if recently wetted, it is long and straight and rather thin. DUBLIN CASTLE, 7th February, 1874. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, at the hour of nine o'clock, on the evening of the 4th instant, John Walsh, butcher, of Askeator, in the county of Limerick, while standing at hi* own door, was fired at and killed by some person or persons unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Excellency's command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by C. De Gernon, the Resident Magistrate at Rathkeale, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. 2. Thomas Purcell— Dark eyes, short thick nose, dark complexion, shoit face, medium make, 5 fee^ P 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest A Warrant for their arrest is in the hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Cahirconlish. DESCRIPTION of Philip Purcell and Thomas Purcell, ( brothers,) natives of Highpark, who stand charged with having, on the 12th of January, 1874, in the barony of Smallcounty, parish of Cahircorney, assaulted Timothy Corbett, and struck him with a stone on his head, thereby causing a fracture of the skull, from the effects of which he now lies danger- ously ill in the county Infirmary :— 1. Philip Purcell— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a jerry hat, dark frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest. Mayo. DUBLIN CASTLE, 6th February, 1874. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, on the evening of the 6th of January last, Mr. Richard A. Fitzgerald, the accountant of the National Bank at Castlebar, when returning from Newport, in the county of Mayo, was fired at and wounded by some person or persons at present unknown, and the cash- box, containing a large sum of money, the properly of the Back, was forcibly carried off by the said person or persons: His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within si* months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same; and a reward of FIFTY POUNDS to any person who shall, within the same period, give such private information as shall lead to the same result. By His Excellency's command, T. H. BURKE. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by Rodolphus Harvey, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Castlebar, to those who may become entitled to" them under the conditions of this Proclamation. John M'Hale— Short- sighted; gray eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair, no beard or whiskers; wore a frieze coat, cord trowsers. 2.
