CONTAINING The substance of all Informations received in eases of Felony and of Misdemeanors of an aggravated nature, and against Receivers of Stolen Goods, reputed Thieves, and Offenders escaped from Custody, with the time, the place, and the circumstance of the Offence. The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known hut not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. Tha Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. C. *.* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. Absconded from the borough of Middlesbrough, on the HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a field at Settrington, on the 5th instant: a: grey Donkey, aged, entire, in good condition, has a small piece of hair off the rump. Stolen from Bath on the 2nd instant : a grey Horse, 15 hands high, and chipped knees ; a set of black Harness, with plated mouutings ; a Whitechapel Cart, varnished oak, - with ' Swaffield, Bath,' on the caps of wheels. The Horse and Cart were hired for a drive by WALTER GUNTER, for- merly a timekeeper at a Steam Coal Works in Pontypridd, is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair com- plexion, little whiskers, no fingers on l'eft hand, and speaks with a Welsh accent. On the afternoon of the 26th instant, the dead body of a newly born female child was fouud iu the river Skerne, at Harlington : the body which was wrapped in a piece of old black moreen, had apparently been only a short time in the water. The woman is about 32 years of age, very fair complexion, light sandy hair ; dressed iu white bonnet trimmed with brown ribbon, yellow or light brown dress with pannier, trimmed all round with brown fringe, one flounce round bottom, dark brown shawl with light border; she wore gold ear droppers, wedding ring and keeper. They had with them three Bundles and a Basket, and took tickets at Woferton Station to Stourbridge ; it is supposed they weut on to Kidderminster. Description of FRANCIS WHEELER, a carpenter, charged with stealing, on the 7th instaut, from the dwelling- house of James Frankland, South Stockton, an old silver verge Watch, a gold albert Chain, a long Locket attached ( red stone one side, and gold the other), and a sealskin Cap ( a little worn, lined with dark silk) : he is 21 years of age, single, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stoutish, fair complexion, and dark brown hair; dressed in a dark shooting coat, imitation sealskin vest, white moleskin cord trousers, low thin shoes, and sealskin cap. Was traced by rail to Leeds, and from Leeds to Bradford. Supposed to have gone to Bangley Low Moor or neighbourhood. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Middlesborough, on the 7th instant: a silver Geneva Watch, No. 3092, with gold figures, maker J. W. Benson ; and about £ 14 iu Sovereigns. By a rail carrier or labourer at iron works on railways, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, broad features, black hair and whiskers, no moustache, walks erect, and is a native of London ; dressed in a blue pilot cloth coat, bound with black braid, dark grey striped trousers and vest, black and white plaid shirt, black body hat, black and white plaid scarf, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough- on- Tees.— Bow street, February 11. Absconded on the 3rd instant, from Welshpool, charged with stealing a pair of Pljers, Nippers, File, Screw Drivers, and other Articles, the property of Mr. J. Evans, watch- maker : JAMES MERTON, a tramping clock and watch maker, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, large brown whiskers aud moustache; dressed iu brown monkey jacket, dark vest, ribbed cloth trou5ers, plaid scarf, and hard round top hat, all much worn ; walks very erect, said he was a native of Birmingham, and was traced to Wellington, Salop, on the 4th instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Strefford, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, who holds a wan- ant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, February 9. Stolen on the 31st ultimo, from the dwellibg- house of John Brotherton, at Market Harborough : a pair of bedford cord Breeches ; a pair of light cloth Leggings, nearly uew ; and two or three white Shirts, much worn. By a mau about 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, high cheek bones, dark hair, and small whiskers and moustache ; dressed in dark cloth jacket, vest, and trousers, dark billy hat, lace- up boots, nearly new, which had three brass links on each side at top, and carried a small light coloured flag basket. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Iliffe, Leicestershire Con- stabulary, Market Harborough,— Bow- street, February 6. Absconded from Barrow, charged with, embezzlement, and for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued : JAMES HORSLEY, secretary to the Operative Bricklayers' Society, 50 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, ruddy com- plexion, very red nose, long hair turning grey, grey moustache, no whiskers, and is fond < f taking snuff; dressed in grey cloth coat and vest, woollen cord trousers, and grey billycock hat; is well kuown to bricklayers who have worked in Barrow during the last three years, and was formerly secretary to the Bricklayers' Society at Nottingham. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent holden, Ulverston, or to Inspector Barker, Barrow, Lancashire, who holds the warrant, and who will pay £ 2 reward for such information as will lead to his apprehension.— Boui- street, February 6. Stolen from a lodging- house in Wakefield, on the 7th ultimo : a black and white plaid woollen Shawl, a brown stuff Dress, trimmed with braid and fringe, a pair of women's elastic- Bide Boots, and £ 2 in Money. By MARY ANN KELLY, a domestic servant, 16 or 17 years of age, short, stout build, fair complexion, light brown hair, pale face ; dressed when she absconded in a black stuff dress, and puce and white woollen handkerchief over her head. Information to be given to Chief Constable Chipstead, Borough Police Office, Wakefield, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, February 6. The following girls have absconded from the Warwick- shire Reformatory School, Coventry, on the 30th ultimo, stealing therefrom Clothiug and Monies belonging to the Institution, and for whose appreheusion warrants have been granted : ELIZABETH FOSTER, 17 years of age, rather tall, pro- portionately built, fresh complexion, dark hair and eyes, and good looking, and ANNIE OAKES, 17 years of age, short and stout, light complexion, light brown hair, and an old scar or cut on top of head. Both girls have relations residing at Birmingham. £ 1 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the above- named girls. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable Norris, Coventry, Warwick.— Bow- street, February 6. WM. ARNOLD absconded from the A Division Metro- politan Police, on the 28th ultimo, charged with fraudulently obtaining three gold Watches, English lever enamel dials, sunk seconds, engine turned cases, maker—' Bennett' on movements : one jewelled in four holes, frame gold balance, No. 9354, reference No. scratched on outer case— 5649 ; one jewelled in 6 holes, gold balance, No. 4554, reference No. 5728 ; one jewelled in 6 holes, compound balance No. 4529, reference No. 5723. He is 30 years of age, 5 ft. 11 ins. high, fair complexion, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, bald on top of head ; dressed when last seen in great uniform, coat and leggings. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, A Division, Februiary 6. Stolen on the 3rd instant, from the dwelling house of James Morley, Market Harborough : a rough grey Overccat, with black velvet collar, two pockets outside, and one inside breast, black bone buttons, and not much worn. By a man about 30 years of age, 3 feet 3 inches high, dark hair and whiskers, pale complexion, middle size, stoops when walking, rather round shouldered ; is a travelling stable helper, and has worked in Market Harborough for a few weeks ; dressed in brown coat, vest, and trousers, brown billy hat, and lace- up shoes, with three or four holes in the front. Information to be given to Superintendent Iliffe, Constabulary Station, Market Harborough, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, Feb: 6. Description of GEORGE GAMBLE, a flannel weaver, but has been working at mines, who absconded from Llanidloes, oa the 1st instant, charged with larceny : about 16 yeais of age, about 5 feet high, dark hair and eyes, pale complexion, small thiu face, and a native of Newtown1; dressed in a black short jacket, light waistcoat, light striped trousers, lace- up boots, aud black cloth cap, with peak. In- formation to be given at the Chief Constable' Office, New- town, or to Sergeant Owen, Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 4. A warrant has been granted for the apprehension of WILLIAM LOLLOWAY, late of Wellingboro', book can- vasser, for larceny, as a bailee : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, light hair, parted in the centre, and curled at the back of head, whiskers and moustache, rather stoutly built, and is of bloated appearance from drink ; dressed in brown cloth over- coat, black cloth coat and vest, high silk hat, or brown hard billycock, and large scarf, with a bronzed lion's head piu. He left Wellingboro' on the 1st December, is of flash ap- pearance and manner, and lisps when talking; has been an assurance agent at Birmingham, and as a book canvasser at Leicester, Hinckley, & c., aud is supposed now to be engaged in a similar manner in London or the neighbourhood. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Poole, Wellingboro', Northamptonshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, February 2. Stolen on the 28th ultimo, from a clothes line in a garden at Old Sodbury : a calico Shirt ( since'recovered). By a tramp of the following description : about 30 years of age, 5 ft. 6 ins high, slightly built, has a little dark moustache, and the appearance of a navvy ; dressed in a dark cloth coat and vest, light cord ot moleskiu trousers, and wearing a red muffler round his neck, old elastic side boots, a rough heavy cfp with flaps and tie on the top; he had in hi3 possession a white scarf with black spots, and a tin pint or can ; is sup- posed to be a returned convict or tieket- of- Ieave man, aud may be making his way to the North of England, and is in the habit of calling at Police Stations for admission tickets to Unions. Information to be given to Superintendent Ellison, Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire. — Bow- street, February 2.
