All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted tinder cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can bo inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 1874. SCOTTISH POLICE. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. EMBEZZLEMENT OK £ 1,600. WANTED, on Warrant, for embezzlement of this sum, belonging to Messrs. James Miller, Son and Company, Union- street— Hugh Wilson, cashier to said firm, 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout made, dark hair," dark gray eyes, dark brown whiskers, beard, and moustache, sallow complexion, talks quickly, and walks smart, speaks with strong Scotch accent, generally wears drab gaiters over his boots; dressed in dark gray marled coat and vest, and small low- crowned felt hat. Absconded on 22nd instant. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and inquiry for this man, and those stationed at seaport towns are requested to watch shipping, and if found to apprehend and communicate with the subscriber. - A. The after- described two men, who are brothers, are strongly suspected of being concerned in the jewel robbery here on the 6th or 7th December, 1878, and, as they are supposed to be in possession of part of the stolen jewellery, Police officers are requested to use every exertion in tracing out their where- abouts, and, should any of the stolen property be traced to the possession of either of them, apprehend, detain, and communicate with the subscriber:— Peter Graham— 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches in height, slender make, face thin and pale, hair black,, short thin black whiskers, marks of old sores on neck behind jaw, and a native of England. Michael Graham— private soldier in the Royal Artillery, presently stationed in Limerick — see " Police Gazette " of 5th January current, where he is returned as a deserter. He was in Dundee on furlough at the time of the robbery. He is 19£ years of age, 5 feet 6J inches in height, hair black, eyes hazel, scar on back of left leg, born in New- castle- on- Tyne. DESCRIPTION of John Williamson, native of Connor, county Down, who stands charged, on the oath of his sureties, with having absconded for the purpose of evading justice, he having been admitted to bail by order of the Court of Queen's Bench, conditioned for his appearance at the next Spring assizes to be held at Belfast, to stand his trial on a charge of firing a loaded revolver at Sub- Constables Roderick Kehoe, James Jordan, and John Hughes, on the 9th Octo- ber, 1873, in the barony of Upper Belfast, and parish of Shankill:— Surly appearance, dark sunken eyes ; regular nose, dark complexion, round shaven face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 86 years of age, brown hair; wore a silk hat, gray Ulster overcoat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; wears two gold rings on each hand, and a long gold chain recently purchased; is a dealer in old brass and copper. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Kelly, native of Shandrum. who stands charged with having, on the 18th inst., at Shandrum, in the barony of Ibrickan, parish of Kilmurry, with two of his brothers, who are in custody, seriously assaulted Michael Kelleher, so as to en- danger his life :— Mark of a cut over on* of his eyebrows, heavy gait when walking; blue eyes, long nose, sandy complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 81 years of age, red hair; wore a soft jerry hat, frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest Ennistymon, Dec. 20,1873. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Ryan, native of county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 28th January, 1874, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Macroom, escaped from the Constabulary, in whose custody he was on a charge of attempted larceny :— Is a rag and bone gatherer ; heavy gait when walkings regular nose, fresh complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, foxy hair; wore an old faded green cloth coat, old dark trowsers. DESCRIPTION of Cornelius Driscoll, native of Ballinlough, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 20th inst., in the barony of East Car- bery, West Division, parish of Kilmacabea, struck Denis Driscoll a blow of a stick on the head, from the effects of which he died on the following morn- ing :— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, rather long face, stout make, 6 feet 7- J inches high, about 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft round hat, blue coat and trowsers ; smart intelligent appearance; has a very keen look about the eyes, and has the appearance of a man of determination; his hair hangs about the sides of his head as if recently wetted, it is long and straight and rather thin. Hawes, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd January, 1874, in the barony of Connell, parish of Morristownbiller, raudulently obtained XI9 0s. 8d. from the National Branch Bank, Newbridge, by uttering a draft on Sir E. Borough, in favour of " Captain Hawes, 29th Regi- ment," and signed " T. Duberly, Assistant Controller, Winchester," there being no such persons as drawer or payee:— Blue eyes, regular nose, sallow com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 80 years of age, light brown hair; wore a round hat, dark trowsers, light overcoat, under which he wore the undress uniform of an officer of the 29th Regiment. He came from Dublin, went to an hotel, took off the overcoat and hat, cashed the draft, and returned to Dublin by the 4.42 P. M. mail train, having driven to Kildare. Kildare, January 29, 1874. DESCRIPTION of Philip Purcell and Thomas Purcell, ( brothers,) natives of Highpark, who stand charged with having, on the 13th of January, 1874, in the barony of Smallcounty, parish of Cahircorney, assaulted Timothy Corbett, and struck him with a stone on his head, thereby causing a fracture of the skull, from the effects of which he now lies danger- ously ill in the county Infirmary :— 1. Philip Purcell— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest. 3. Thomas Purcell— Dark eyes, short thick nose, dark complexion, short face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. A Warrant for their arrest is in the hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Cahirconlish. Cahirconlish, Jan. 16, 1874. ( o. 377— 474.) DESCRIPTION of William Brown, native of Cappa- more, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd of October, 1873, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Tuogh, grievously assaulted James Connors, who died from the effects on 6th December, 1873 :— Thick heavy lips; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet inches high, about 70 years of age, gray hair; wore a hat, frieze coat, knee breeches and tweed vest. DESCRIPTION of Thady Mullowney, native of Curryane, who stands charged with having, on the 24th day of January, 1874, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Kilconduff, been guilty of wilful and corrupt perjury— he may endeavour to go to Eng- land : — Stooped shoulders, vide nostrils ; down- look ing, greasy appearance ; gray eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 38 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, frieze vest. DESCRIPTION of George Ferguson, builder, native of the city of Derry, who stands charged with having, on the 21 st November, 187% in the barony of North- West Liberties, parish of Templemore, and city of Derry, obtained, by means of a forged bill of ex- change, the sum of £ 75 from the Bank of Ireland :— Very florid complexion ; a tattoo mark, like a ring, on one of his fingers ; bald on the top of his head ; small whiskers turning gray; dark eyes, regular nose, round lace, square build, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a tall silk hat, dark shooting coat, dark trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of James Murray, native of Meelick, who stands charged with having in his possession, on the 13th instant, at Meelick, in the barony of Tinnahinch, parish of Rosenallis, a cow which was stolen from Mr. Robert Roe, of Loran Park, county Tipperary, on 1st instant, and who was bound by recognizance to appear at Petty Sessions here on to- day, but failed to do so :— Round shoulders, holds his head down when walking, slovenly gait ; hazel eyes, cocked nose fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 40 years of age, strong gray hair ; wore a jerry hat, dark frock coat, cord trowsers, dark vest. DESCRIPTION of Anthony Quinn, native of Knocka- lough, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of December, 1873, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Templebeg, grievously assaulted Patrick Dwyer, by striking him on the head with a stone, from the effects of which he died on the 27th instant:— Long neck; no beard or whiskers, save a few hairs under chin; gray eyes, long nose, fair fresh complexion, long and rather large face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 23 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark jerry hat, dark frieze frock coat, Windsor cord trowsers and vest; is of the farming class, and a smart able young fellow.
