Description of ROBERT GLANDENING, alias SCOTIE, charged with highway robbery at Aldershot, on the 2nd instant : he is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, large caarse features, point of nose turned upwards, very dark hair, cut short, no whiskers, rather bow legged ; dressed when last seen in a black cloth coat, pockets on hips, grey trousers, lace- up boots, and soft billycock hat. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Aldershot.— Bow- stretl, January 23. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the afternoon of the 2Gth instant, the dead body of a newly born female child was found in the river Skerne, at Darlington : the body which was wrapped in a piece of old black moreen, had apparently b « en only a short time in the water. At the coroners inguest a verdict of wilful murder was returned against some person or persons unknown. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Rogers, Police Office, Darlington, Durham.— Bow- street, January 30. Absconded from Abertillery, on or about the 10th Nov. last, charged on a warrant with manslaustiter : THOMAS WEEKS, alias DUMMEY, a collier, and a native of High Littleton, Somersetshire, 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches or G feet high, stout made, sallow com- plexion, dark brown hair, aud small whiskers, is a little round shouldered, and slightly pitted with small pox; dressed when lie left iu a velvet jacket, and supposed velvet vest, cord trousers, black cloth cap with peak, aud strong lace- up boots; he is very fond of poaching, and was convicted for that offence, when working in some part of Yorkshire, some four or live months ago. GEORGE PARRY, a collier, a native of Sions- place, Somersetshire, 23 or 21 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, slight made, pale thiu face, light hair, cut short, very small whiskers, supposed slightly pitted with small pox, and is of smart and active appearance ; dressed when lie left in a dark jacket aud vest, cord trourers, turned up at the bottom, and a black cloth cap with a tassel on the top; he is very fond of poachiug, and was convicted for that offence with Weeks. They are great companions, and will most likely be found together, and are supposed to have made their way to some part of Yorkshire or Scotlaud. They have a bull dog with them, light colour, with a few grey spots on him, named ' Wallace.' Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Abergavenny, or to Superintendent Fowler, Tredegar Iron Works, Monmouthshire, who holds the warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, January 23. FORGERY. On the 17th ins'ant two Post- office Orders for 3s. and 2s. respectively were obtained at Frodsham, iu favour of two tradesmen at Chester. The same day, before the letter of advice could reach Chester, a man of the following descrip- tion presented the orders, with forged letters, asking for goods. It was afterwards found that the orders had been altered to £ 5 3s. 0d., and £ 2 2s. Od. respectively : lie called himself JOHN FOX, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, thin straggling beard, rather florid complexion ; dressed in a dark tweed double breasted shooting coat, aud low black felt hat, with Hat rim. He obtained the following Goods : a new silver lever Watch, No. 56,278, plain case, with shield in garter, gold hinges, maker Butt, Chester, private mark ' £ c. c. y.'; aud a new blue pilot nap Overcoat, velvet collar, grey tweed lining, and cloth buttons, which he is probably now wearing. Information to be given to the Chief Con- stable, Town hall, Chester.— Bow- street, January 21. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen between the 25th and 26th instant, from the rjerson, at Brancepeth, Durham : a silver lever Watch, silver dial, No. 1589, maker Burnett, Durham, value £ 4. Also stolen, on the 26th January, 1874, from the person, at Cross- < rate, Durham : a silver lever Watch," No. 1008, maker Wake- neld, Willington, white dial, and seconds, gold hands, and engine- turned cases. Information to be given to Superin- BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Description of two tramps suspected of breakng into the dwelling- house of William Jones, at Llantilliocrosenny, on the 23rd instant, and stealing therein : about .£ 10 in Gold aud Silver: One is from 20 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slight build, fair complexion, and a small dark moustache ; dressed iu a black jacket, grey trousers, aud dark cap, with peak. The other from 20 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, proportionate figure ; dressed iu a black jacket, light trousers, and black cap witn peak. Iuformatiou to be giveu at the Chief Constable's Office, or to Superintendent Freeman, County Constabulary Office, Aber- gavenny.— Bow- street, January 28. Between 12 p . m. on the 24th and 8 a. m. on the 25th instaut, tlie dwelling- house of Mr. John Steed, draper, Raglan, Monmouthshire, was burglariously broken into ami entered, aud the following property stolen therein : £ 4 in Gold, £ 2 iu Silver, and three flannel Shirts, new, one grey, with white aud yellow stripes, one black and white plaid, one black aud red plaid. A tramp of the following description is suspected : about 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, ! proportionate make, sallow complexion, brown hair, whiskers round chin; dressed iu a pilot cloth monkey jacket, grey cloth trousers, black bowler hat, and heavy boots, nailed round toes and heels ; supposed to be wearing one of the stolen shirts, haviug left his own behind. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, or to Superintendent Freeman, County Coustabulary Office, Abergavenny, Mon- mouthshire.— Bow- street, January 28. Between 1 and 5 p. m. on the 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of James Gill, of Marbury, Cheshire, was broken and entered, and the following property stoleu therein : a small wood Box, with glass in the bottom, 2 inches deep, aud about 3 inches long, containing £ 7 10s. iu Gold, and a small blue and white striped calico Bag, made out of sliirtiug, with tape drawing string, containing i.' 9 10s. in Gold and 25s. in Silver. Information to be given to Superintendent Laxton, County Police, Nantwich, Cheshire.— Brno- street, January 26. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen at Shrewsbury on the 27th instant : a brown Horse, 8 years old, 15 hauds 2 iuches high, white near hind foot, scar inside oil' hock, and black mane and tail, value .£ 45 ; a set of silver- mounted Harness, blue and white front to bridle, iu good condition ; a plain blue dog Cart, painted , white stripes ; brown plush Cushions ; and a red aud white ! coloured Rug, bound with red. By a mau about 37 years of | age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, hair, whiskers ( long), and moustache, and speaks slowly ; dressed in dark clothes, light overcoat with silk velvet collar, aud high hat ; of respectable appearance. £ 5 reward will be giveu for his apprehension aud recoverv of the above property by the owner, Mr. George Oswell, Coal Proprietor, Shrewsbury. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Shrews- bury, Salop.— Bow- street, January 30. Stolen from a field in the parish of Hardingstone, during the night of the 24th instant, the property of Mr. William Nichols : a rough black cob Uorse, 13 or 14 hauds high, long tail, two white fetlocks, star on forehead, white mark ou oil' side of nose, shod all round, aud in g « od condition. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Poole, Wellingborough, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Northampton.— Bow- street, January 28. Further information respecting the Mare stolen from Nuneaton, on the 6th ultimo, since recovered. Description of JOHN LYNDON, who is charged uuder a warrant with stealing the above, about 47 years of age, 5 feet 5 iuches high, deeply pockmarked, dark penetrating eyes, nearly black hair, supposed to be wearing slight whiskers, broad shoulders, thick set, thin legs, and has a cut ou top lip. He is a native of Warwickshire, and is well known in Birmingham, Liver- pool, Warrington, Cardiff. & c. Iuformatiou to be giveu to Superintendent Austin, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 28. The three men advertised in the Police Gazette of the 16th instant, charged with stealing the Ho; se at haslemere, has been committed for trial at the sessions to be held at Newington on the 2nd proximo, for stealing a Horse iu Hampshire, which was found in their possession ; also a light Spring Cart, with cross spring behind, has beeu painted green but now smeared over with slate colour, brass rods running round each side on top rave, plain seat with no back, step on near sid* wily, wheels, i f « et 8 incites high, the boxes lately new wedged, patent axles without caps, ash shafts, nearly new, with a deal block between the side of shaft and cart; also a set of old brass mounted Harness with chain Traces. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Barker, Surrey Constabulary, Guildford.— Bow- st., Jan. 26. Stolen between the 15th November and the 15th instant, from a field at the Priory, near Armathwaite : two Highland Wether Sheep, in good condition, one marked ' K' and the other ' O'; also on the 21st instant, from a field at High Chapter, Castlesowerby : a grey- faced ewe Sheep, two cuts in left ear, one cut in right ear, marked ' D' on near side, and marked on the back, about 8 inches from the tail, with blue. Information to be given to Superintendent Fowler, Penrith, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumber- land.— Bow- street, January 26. The Pony stolen and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 15th ultimo, the property of the Rev. Mr. Fane, of Kelvedon Hatch, has be « u recovered, and a man of the following description sold it to a Mr. Cottee, butcher, of Gt. Braxted, near Witham, on the morning of the 13th ultimo : he is from 24 to 30 years of age, 5 feet ti or 7 inches high, light complexion, and small sandy whiskers ; dressed in a low- crowned black hat, short dark brown coat and trousers, aud leather buskins. Gave the name of EVANS, said his friends were cattle dealers, had sold all their bullocks, and had no further use for the pony. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, Epping, or to Inspector Robinson, Police Station, Chipping Ongar, Essex.— Bon- street, January 26. Stolen from Bath, cn the 15th instant: a chestnut Mare, 15 hands 2 inches high, white star ou forehead, has been tired on hocks, three white fetlocks, rat tail, fast trotter ; a Saddle, by Russell, Bath ; a double rein Bridle, with nose baud. The horse was hired for a ride by a man who gave the name of EVANS, of the following description : abo, t 40 years of age, short, stout, fair complexion, whhkers under chin ; dressed iu a high hat, and dark mixture overcoat, and carried a small paper parcel. £ 5 pounds reward will be paid by the owner of the horse for its recovery, and for such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of tho offender. Information to be given to Head Constable Muttlebury, Central Police Office, Bath.— Bow- st., Jan. 23. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen on the 21st instant, from a lodging- house in Hawes, the property of James Atkinson : a pair of men's lace- up Boots, nearly new, with brass eyelet- holes and toe- caps. By a man who absconded on the moruing of the robbery : fr rn 25 to 28 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair, beard, and moustache ; dressed in a light- coloured jacket and vest, cord or moleskin trousers, light muffler, and black hard billycock hat ; he works on railways, and is supposed to have made for Settle, in the West Riding. Information to be given to Superiutendent Alderson, Leyburu, or to Inspector Smith. Hawes, via Bedale, North Riding of Yorkshire.— Boio- street, January 30. Description of GEORGE SAUNDERS, a miller, who absconded from High Easter on the loth instant, charged with embezzlement : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light hair and moustache, aud light complexion ; dressed iu black felt hat, black coat, pepper- and- salt vest, a blue striped vest underneath, brown striped trousers, blue necktie, aud white leather belt with brass buckle ; he took with him a basket, containing a pair of black trousers. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Elsey, Police Station, Great Dunmow, Essex.— Bow- street, January 30. Absconded on the 13th instant, from Ipswich, charged with embezzling the sum of XI13, the moneys of David Henry Booth, coal merchant: HARRY JOHN MILLS, clerk aud cashier, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown hair, cut short behind, small dark moustache and whiskers, sallow complexion, and is a native of Sax- mundliani, Suffolk ; dressed in a steel mixture suit, blue monkey jacket over, and high black hat. Information to be giveu to Head Constable Mason, Police Office, Town Hall, Ipswich, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bou- street, January 30. Absconded from Colchester, charged with stealing on the 24th instant, from the Cavalry Barracks the sum of £. 1 17s. : THOMAS C. CLARK, alas G. W. CLARK, about 30 yrs. of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, light curly hair, moustache, no whiskers, and thinly built; dressed in light tweed coat and vest, pair of Yeomanry trousers, aud billycock hat. He is a pianist, aud frequents concert rooms and other places of amusement, especially iu gtrrison towns. Information to be giveu to Chief Constable Mercer, Town Hall, Colchester, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Jan. 30. Charged with stealing a quantity of Trousers and Vests from chapel- street, St. Pancras: JAMES CASEY, 32 years of age, tlorid complexion, sandy whiskers, slightly pockpitted, front teeth in upper jaw deficient; is a clothier's assistant, is well kuown in the New Cut, Lambeth, aud is supposed to have gone into the country. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, Y Diciiion, January 30. Absconded on the 19th instant, from Minchinhampton, charged with embezzlling 8s., the moneys of his master, Mr. Charles Eddells, baker : JAMES WEBB, 25 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, and whiskers meeting under chin. Superintendent Hanbridge, Stourd, or to Sergeant Muggridge, Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, who holte a warrant for his apprehension.— Lous- street, January 30. Description of GEORGE ADAMS, charged with stealing from the dwelling- hOuse of Joseph Kelsey, in the parish- of Chilvers Coton, ou the 15th instant : £ 25 in Monies, and a cotton print bag : he is about 4G years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, dark hair, bald « ; i top of head, slight whiskers ; dressed when last seen iu light- coloured suit, aud low shoes ; he is a native of Leckhamstead, Bucks, and has been a butler. Information to be given to Superintendent Austin, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Doio street, January 28. Absconded from tha employ of the Linoleum Company. Absconded from Rhymney Iron Works, Monmouthshire, on the morning of the 15th instaut, charged under a warrant with stealing a pair of lace- up working Boots, heavily nailed with toe plates aud tips on heels ; al » o a halt- worn Welsh plaid flannel Shirt, check collar aud wristband, no buttons on breast- plate but two ou throat, with several marks of burns from sparks ou breast; vaU>: 10s., the property of Thomas Hughes, a founder: WM. THOMAS, alias EDWARDS, otherwise BILLY JANE BOOTS, a trampiug puddler, aud a native of tknvlais, Glamorganshire, 38 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 1 to 2 inches high, rather stout figure, swarthy sallow complexion, large Romau nose with an indentation on bridge, dark short hair, aud no whiskers ; dressed in a dark cloth coat, vest, aud trousers, black and red plakl worsted cravat, black cloth cap, and stolen boota which are too large for him, and stoops a little in shoulders. He is well known throughout the iron districts of South Wales, and was convicted of felouy at Cardiff Quarter Sessions, 2! st February, 1866, and sen- tenced to 7 years penal servitude after previous couvictious. lias also in his possession a card of the Amalgamated Union cf Puddlers from the Stockton- on- Tees Lodge, bearing the name of William Edwards, November, 1873, and seeks relief from secretaries - of the above - Union Societies iu every town ; likely to be found sleeping about iron works by nights and drinking in low public- houses by days. A woman, 22 yeivrs of age, 5 feet high, fair complexion, dark hair ayd eyes, SLIKI long nose ; dressed iu red merino dress, dark waterproof cloak, and black bonnet. — Metropolitan Police, W Division, J^ anuary 23. Stolen from Middlesborough, ou the 17th instant : a Geneva Watch, No. 39691 ; a blue reefing Jacket ; a dark mixture tweed vest, a pair of elastic- side Boots, to fit a girl about 9 years old ; ami a catholic Prayer Book. By a man who absconded from Middlesborough on the 17th instant : he gave the name of WILLIAM HAMBLER, labourer, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 iucbes high, fair complexion, dark hair, brown moustache ; dressed in old blue cloth coat, which is almost gone brown with lime, & c., cottou cord trousers, blaiik and white small plaid vest, laced shoes, aud light billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Coustable Saggerson, Borough Police Office, Middlesborough. — Bow- street, January 23. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Description of THOMAS SHARPE, late farm bailiff, who is charged wi. h obtaining, by means of fraud, from Edward Thomas, of Birmingham, on the 6th ultimo: one Horse, one Trap, and one set of Harness ; he is about 30 yrs. of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 iuches high, brown hair and whiskers, aud respectably dressed. Absconded from Pelsall, in the county of Stafford, on the 17th iustaut, charged with stealing Monies, the property of the Pelsal Coal aud Iron Company: JOHN THOMAS BLAKEMORE, a clerk, about. 32 years of age, 5 feet 11 ins. high, pale complexion, thin face, light whiskers and moustache, of good address, and walks very erectjjy; dressed iu a grey rough overcoat, dark grey plaid trousers, aud black hard felt hat ; has lived at Knighton and Presteign, Radnorshire, and Preston, Lancashire, and has two brothers at Oakengates, Salop. _£"> reward will be given for his apprehension. Description of a man who passes by the names of PATRICK MALOY and JOHN McCOWE, who is charged with obtaining Money by false pretences : about ' Brooks' on blade, and buckhoru handle _ | two Half- Crowns and one Shilling ; the property of Joshua 40 ^ ar3 ,0f at, e, 5 feet 11 inches " high, slender build, dark Neal. He is about £ 9 years of age, ami 5 feet 7 inches high ; hair, dark whiskers, very bushy at chin and thin on sides of dressed iu brown slop, corduroy trousers, light cloth cap with j facej aiigfet short moustache, dark complexion, blind of the peak aud curtain round. Supposed to be wearing the stolen j rigUt eye, which is quite closed, and wears his cap over it, a shoes, as lie left his old ones behind. Information to be given Batjve uf Ireland, and speaks that dialect. He goes to to Superintendent Cope, Police Station, Witney, Oxon.— Bow- street, January 26. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Mrs. Oxley, at Gains- borough, on the 21st instant: a meerschaum Pipe and Case, a pink aud red linen Front aud Collar attached, a self- closing Tobacco PoUch, and two plated Studs.
