A11 Notices intended for insertion in the Huo- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can bo inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of N ca respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be in i inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, JANUARY 27, 1874. ENGLISH POLICE. XI0 REWARD. THE above reward will be paid for the apprehen- sion of Nicholas Pattison, who absconded from Middlesbrough on the 11th instant, charged with felony:— He is 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark eyes, brown hair, had large dark whiskers and moustache ( which he may shave off), has a small scar at end of left eye, large scar on right side of neck, and a small mole betwixt shoulders. He was born at Brafferton, near Darlington, and served his apprenticeship to a blacksmith; but since 1864 he has been a schoolmaster, also a clerk at goods stations on railways, and latterly has been a weigh clerk at an iron works; he has at times sold Bacon and Co.' s maps. Was dressed when last seen — at Hartlepool, on 12th instant— in a suit of dark clothes, with a brown overcoat, also a body hat. He left his wife and 8 children behind him at Stockton- on- Tee « , one of them a boy about 7 years of age. She and the children may join him. Information to be given to Mr. Edward J. Saggerson, Chief Constable, who holds a Warrant for Pattison's arrest. Middlesbrough, January 20, 1874. SCOTTISH POLICE. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. EMBEZZLEMENT OF XI, 600. WANTED, on Warrant, for embezzlement of this sum, belonging to Messrs. James Miller, Son and Company, Union- street— Hugh Wilson, cashier to said firm, 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout made, dark hair,' dark gray eyes, dark brown whiskers, beard, and moustache, sallow complexion, talks quickly, and walks smart, speaks with strong Scotch accent, generally wears drab gaiters over his boots ; dressed in dark gray marled coat and vest, and small low- crowned felt hat. Absconded on 22nd instant. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and inquiry for this man, and those stationed at seaport towns are requested to watch shipping, and if found to apprehend and communicate with the subscriber. ' r> o The after- described two men, who are brothers, are strongly suspected of being concerned in the jewel robbery here on the 6th or 7th December, 1878, and, as they are supposed to be in possession of part of the stolen jewellery, Police officers are requested to use every exertion in tracing out their where- abouts, and, should any of the stolen property be traced to the possession of either of them, apprehend, detain, and communicate with the subscriber:— Peter Graham— 23 years of age, 5 fett 5 or 6 inches in height, slender make, face thin and pale, hair black, short thin black whiskers, marks of old sores on neck behind jaw, and a native of England. Michael Graham— private soldier in the Royal Artillery, presently stationed in Limerick — see " Police Gazette " of 6th January current, where he is returned as a deserter. He was in Dundee on furlough at the time of the robbery. He is 19£ years of age, 6 feet 6g inches in height, hair black, eyes hazel, scar on back of left leg, born in New- castle- ori- Tyne. Thompson, stolen from his premises at Tully, in the parish of Killead, and barony of Lower Massa- reene, on the night of the 14th instant, viz.:— A brown pony ; legs, mane and tail black ; stiff in fore part and lame, tail cut short, about 13 hands high, 12 years old, in good condition, and value for about X20. A strong farm- cart, nearly new, and painted red ; not lettered, the name taken off; value about £ 8. A set of good ordinary cart- harness. DESCRIPTION of John Williamson, native of Connor, county Down, who stands charged, on the oath of his sureties, with having absconded for the purpose of evading justice, he having been admitted to bail by order of the Court of Queen's Bench, conditioned for his appearance at the next Spring assizes to be held at Belfast, to stand his trial on a charge of firing a loaded revolver at Sub- Constables Roderick Kehoe, James Jordan, and John Hughes, on the 9th Octo- ber, 1873, in the barony of Upper Belfast, and parish of Shankill: — Surly appearance, dark sunken eyes ; regular nose, dark complexion, round shaven face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, brown hair; wore a silk hat, gray Ulster overcoat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; wears two gold rings on each hand, and a long gold chain recently purchased; is a dealer in old brass and copper. DESCRIPTION of William Mahony, native of Barna- goulane, near Skibbereen, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 5th or morning of 6th January, 1874, in the barony of West Carbery, E. D., parish of Abbeystrowry, stolen 6 sheep ( which have been recovered), the property of his father, Luke Mahony, of Barnagoulane :— Mark on left cheek- bone as if from recent fall; whiskers and beard recently shaved off; blue eyes, short thick nose, fair complexion, oval face, stout make, 6 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, light brown hair; wore a round hat, tweed frock coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; much given to drink. DESCRIPTION of Cornelius Driscoll, native of Ballinlough, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 20th inst., in the barony of East Car- bery, West Division, parish of Kilmacabea, struck Denis Driscoll a blow of a stick on the head, from the effects of which he died on the following morn ing :— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, rather long face, stout make, 5 feet inches high, about 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft round hat, blue coat and trowsers ; smart intelligent appearance; has a very keen look about the eyes, and has the appearance of a man of determination ; his hair hangs about the sides of his head as if recently wetted, it is long and straight and rather thin. DESCRIPTION of Philip Purcell and Thomas Purcell, ( brothers,) natives of Highpark, who stand charged with having, on the 12th of January, 1874, in the barony of Smallcounty, parish of Cahircorney, assaulted Timothy Corbett, and struck him with a stone on his head, thereby causing a fracture of the skull, from the effects of which he now lias danger- ously ill in the county Infirmary :— 1. Philip Purcell— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a jerry hat, dark frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest. 2. Thomas Purcell— Dark eyes, short thick nose, dark complexion, short face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, ahout 18 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Reale, native of Knockroe, who stands charged with having, on the 4th inst., in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Grean, fractured the skull of John Meehan, who died from the effects thereof on 6th inst. :— Very broad shoulders, slouching walk; blue eyes, long tbin nose, swarthy complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a low jerry hat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest. DESCRIPTION of Alick Hanna, supposed to be one of a party who fired at and robbed Mr. Fitzgerald, of the National Bank, on 6th instant:— Stout set, black hair, small black whiskers and moustache, 5 feet 8, or 9 inches high, 26 or 27 years of age ; dressed in black clothes, wore a large gold- coloured guard chain round his neck attached to a pretty large silver watch, black cloth overcoat coming to near his knees, short slit in tail behind, black felt hat of softish appearance, large scarf composed of lamb's wool and of many colours round his neck with one knot; breast of his vest very much open; his overcoat was also open in the breast, and displayed the scarf a con- siderable distance towards the waist, the ends of the scarf composed of many colours. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Frain, native of Kilgariff, who stands charged with having, on the 12th No- vember, 1873, at Kilgariff, in the barony of Costello, parish of Kilebeagh, grievously assaulted Patrick M'Donogh, by striking him with a stone on the head, thereby endangering his life :— Short thick nose, short neck, high cheek bones ; mark of an old cut on forehead; rather broad face ; brown eyes, red complexion, stout make, 6 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a round hat or cap, dark frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, frieze vest.
