Whenovor it is desirei that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, a! l Letters addressed to the Editor aaillgt be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Found on the 27th ultimo, in the river Clwyd, at the parish of Llandyrnog, the body of a male child, about 6 months old, supposed to have been in the water about 6 weeks. An inquest has been held on the body, aud a verdict of ' Wilful murder' returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Denman or Superintendent Fudge, Denbigh.— Bow- street, December 1. A large gang of poachers were out with nets and dogs, on the night of the 22nd instant, in the parish of Tong, at Lizard, in the county of Salop, armed with guns, spears, and bludgeons, and were met by the keepers, whom they attacked, shot, stabbed, and otherwise assaulted. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person or persons giving such information as will lead to their apprehension and conviction. Absconded, charged on a warrant with forgery : ANDRE GIRAUD, a Frenchman, late of Lefevre- road, Bow, 56 years of age, dark sallow complexion, grey hair, whiskers, and moustache, dark eyes, moderate build, and stoops a iittle ; generally wears dark clothes, loose overcoat, and black billy- cock hat. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at about 11 p. m. en the night of the 2nd instant, in the parish of Melton Mowbray : a gentleman's gold Watch, No. 333, maker William Green, Grantham. Information to be given to Superintendent Platts, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, December 5. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, in the borough of Stalybridge, on the evening of the 3ril instant: a wash leather Purse, containing 5 Sovereigns, a Spade Ace Guinea, and a Half Guinea. By a tramp, cotton weaver, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout, and full dissipated looking face : dressed in tweed jacket, moleskin trousers, blue cloth hook- down cap, and clogs : frequents low beerhouses, and sings comic songs. Stolen from the person at South Molton, on the 22nd - ultimo : a silver Watch, full plate, sunk seconds, and spring under, No. 5715. Information to be given to Head Constab e Fisher, Borough Police, South Molton, Devon.— Bow- street, December 1. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. On the night of the 28th ultimo a Police Constable found two men committing a burglary at the mansion of the Prince Batthyany, at Newmarket, and one was apprehended and committed for trial : he gave his name WILLIAM THOMPSON, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, full grey eyes, brown hair, moustache and beard round chin, side face shaven, regular features and oval face, has a small scar on right wrist and on left thumb ; dressed in black round high hat, brown cloth double- breasted overcoat, with brown velvet collar, brown silk lining and buttons, bouble- breasted brown cloth underccat, very short and cut- away, with side flap pockets and right breast pocket, brown velvet collar and brown braid binding, brown mixture trousers with dark brown stripe down the sides, double- breasted black vest with bone buttons, red and black check woollen shirt, a white collar, aud small black silk tie, side- spring boots with buttons ou, thick soles, and heels 2 inches high ; had in his possession a powerful jemmy, chisel, wedge, and had flannel slippers over his shoes. The man who es- caped is supposed to be rather taller, and dressed in grey or light clothes, with black round hat. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, the dwelling house of Mr. William Turner, 18, Lower Barton- street, was entered by means of skeleton or false keys, and a bureau in sitting room, boxes, drawers, and writing desk in bed rooms were broken open with a small chisel or jemmy, and stolen therein : £ 6 10s. in Gold. 1 £ 5 Note of the Gloucestershire Bank. 2 ladies gold Rings, one with six blus stones and crystal in centre, the other plain gold with a square of gold on top. 1 gilt Ring, set with light tinted stones. 1 small gold twisted Brooch, with red stone. 1 plain wedding Ring. 1 gold figured Ring, with small crystal in centre. 1 plated Brooch, with pin broken off. 1 pair of gilt Ear- drops. 1 lady's gold Eye- glass, with twisted handle and frame. 1 small old- fashioned silver pair- cased verge Watch, dean lege, and may be in foaL Information to be given to Superintendent Hudson, Chapel- en- le- Frith, Derby.— Bow- street, December 3. Found at Aston Botterell, Salop, on the 18th ultimo, and supposed to be stolen: two cross- bred ewe Sheep, marked with the letter ' W.' on both tides, aad on the rump. Stolen from a field at Plasy- court, in the parish of Alberbury, during the night of the 28th ultimo : a bay or brown Mare, 13 or 14 hands high, half- bred, tail cut square, hair rubbed off one fore knee, in low condition, one of the shoes on left hind foot loose, star on forehead, rising 4 vears old ; the property of Mr. William Parry, of Plasy- court. Stolen from the Holme at Penwortham, between the 25th and 26th ultimo, a dark brown mare Cob, 14^ hands high, 10 years old, small white star on forehead, and" scar on hind fetlock joint, value £ 20 : by a man from 20 to 22 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, and no whiskers; dressed in a black billycock liat, grey or brown coat, and supposed brown trousers. He has been traced to Manchester with the stolen mare. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Chorley, Lancashire.— Bow- street, Deceruiber 1. Further information respecting the Mare stolen from Fazeley, on the 10th and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 14th ultimo : she is browu, half- bred, rising 4 vears old, 15 hands high, small white star on forehead, very thin short mane, under which is a small white mark, switch tail, few white hairs on one hind foot, off knee broken, near knee slightly cut, very quiet, and in good condition. She was taken out of the field about 6 p. m. on the above date, by a man of the following description, between 30 and 40 years" of age, and rather stout ; dressed in dark jacket, black billycock- hat, and was carrying a rush basket, fastened on his back , T - - „ ith a strap. F. R.'; a Sovereign; aud a Half Franc Piece stolen tliereiu. A glazier's diamond and a J- inch chisel was used. A reward of .£ 10 will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. The orphan asylum at Upper Henwick, Worcester, was burglariously entered on the night of tho 26th instant, aud the following articles stolen therein : about 20 yards of unwashed Calico ; about 20 yards of black and white plaid Challis ; 44 pairs of Sheets, marked ' O. A.' in red cotton in corner ; a Counterpane, each corner of which is strengthened with a piece of calico on the inside ; and two pillow Covers, marked ' O. A.' Stolen from a field near Kemble Wick, since the 1st ins., the property of Mr. William Robert Peacey : a wether Teg, about 14ilbs., of the longwool breed, has a piece cut out of end of offside ear, and may have a punch mark in one ear. Description of JAMES GOODHALL, a labourer, who absconded from Eccleston cn the night of the 28th ultimo, charged with stealing two pairs of Boots at Eccleston, 28 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 iuches high, fresh complexion, sandy hair and whiskers meeting under the chin, peculiar- looking about the eyes, and has a deformed thumb ; dressed in dirty- white slop, an old pair of woollen cord trousers, black felt hat, and blucher boots. The Boots have been found sold at a 6econd- hand shop in Chester. Information to be given to Sergeant Palin, County Police, Waverton, near Chester, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Nov. 5. Absconded from Newton Abbot, on the 17th ultimo charged with- embezzling £ 50, moneys of his master, Joseph Sanders Burton, auctioneer and licensed hawker : ROBERT ORMOND MUTTON, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, black hair, small dark whiskers, slight dark moustache, grey eyes, has a wart under the left eye, one on the chin, and one on the ear, slightly built, has a mark on the neck, and is slightly pockmarked ; dressed when seen near Bodmin on the 25th ultimo iu a dark overcoat, dark trousers, and black round felt hat. Ten per cent, on the amount recovered will be paid for his apprehension. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Vaughan, Devon Constabulary, Torquay, or to Sergeant Nicholls, Town Hall, Newton Abbot, Devon, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, December 5. Stolen from the White Horse public- house, in the City of Lincoln, on the morning of the 1st instant: an old- fashioned silver consular Watch, maker — J. W. Kingson, London, No. 132,' with a double twisted steel curb Chain, and a com- mon Key attached. By a lodger, who left the house about 6 a. m., about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, small whiskers ; dressed in soft billycock hat, short dark coat, black vest, dark mixture trousers, blue neck tie, and lace- up boots. He said he was a sadler, and came to Lincoln on the 25th ultimo, and pledged a Watch on the fol- lowing day in the name of SAM COOPER, it is a silver pair case Watch, No. 6469, with steel Chain, two common Keys, and Seal attached, impression ' Nothing like wax.' Information to be given to Chief Constable Mansell, City Police Office, Lincoln.— Bow- street, December 5. Absconded from Flint, on the 3rd instant, charged with stealing 50 yards of Rope, since recovered : ROBERT BETHELL, fisherman, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, hazel eyes, and fresh com- plexion ; probably dressed in a black jacket, blue jersey underneath, cheesecutter cap, and elastic- side boots; is of clean, tidy appearance, and will probably try to go to sea. And WALTER PARRY, labourer, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, rather slender, dark brown hair, appears rather bare about the back of the neck ; dressed in dark clothes and Scotch woollen cap with peak. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Adams, Mold, or to Sergeant Ward, Flint.— Bow- street, December 5. Stolen from a beerhouse in the borough of Stalybridge, on the morning of the 28th ultimo : a small gold Geneva Watch, with plated dome and plain hands, had a plain silver guard Chain attached ; a p'. ain gold Chain of small- cut links, and a gold Locket, with ' Regards' engraved on the outside. By a man about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 iuches high, dark complexion and hair, full face, and no whiskers ; dressed in dark speckled tweed clothes, hooked- down cap, and had lived at Hudderstield and Leeds. Information to be given to Chief Constable Chadwick, Stalybridge.— Bow- street, Dec. 5, Stolen on the 3rd instant, from the dwelling- house of Mrs. Ann Weston, of Bridge, Smethwick : a small silver verge Watch, double- cased, engine- turned, No. 1842 ; a dark blue cloth Jacket, velvet collar, bound with braid, pockets in skirtB outside, nearly new ; a double- breasted black cloth Vest, much worn ; a pair of light brown cloth cord Trousers, • worn ; a pair of black cloth Trousers, nearly new ; a white Shirt ; a calico Shirt; and a Sovereign. By a man ( lodger), about 30 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, very thin make, thin features, light complexion, sandy moustache, no whiskers, and very sullen downcast appearance; dressed in a soft black tommy hat, old black oloth long frock coat, black cloth trousers, and old half- w ellington boots ( clumped) ; stated he • was an underhand puddler, and a native of Brettle- lane, near Stourbridge. Stolen on the 25tL' ultimo, from a bed room in the borough • of Great Yarmouth : t gold English lever Watch, No. 26298, with long gold Guard attached ; a long gold Guard, snake pattern ; a gold split riijg with 4 Trinkets ( one key, one heart shape locket, and two pencil cases, all gold) ; a gold Necklette, snake pattern, with gold Locket containing portrait; a gold Locket, padlock shape, with a large stone set in it; a Locket, gold back and rim, with glass for portrait; a pair of gold Eardrops ; a gold knot Brooch ; a gold Brooch, ' S. B.' on back ; a gold I'enoil Case ; .3 Half Sovereigns, 10 Florins, 3 Half Crowns, and 3 Sixpences. By JAMES GEORGE MONTAGUE WALLACE, for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, very thin, fair complexion, very large nose, light long hair, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed when last seen in black troimers with white stripes, dark vest, black coat, light thin grey overcoat, and black wideawake hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Tewaley, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. •— Bow- street, December 3. Description of HUGH ROGER, a travelling draper, and a native of Maybole, near Ayr, who absconded from Wolverhampton en the 14th ultimo, charged wi th embezzling several large sums of money : he is 20 years o ( age, 5 feet 6 inches high, black curly hair, sallow comple lion, small features, dark moustache, and large eyes; when lf> et saen he wore a blue ribbed eloth coat, blue petersham overc « at, lined with black and white plaid, and silk hat, had with lib M adark cloth check jacket and trousers, and deerstalker hat. He is supposed either to have gone to Manchester, or to NTo. 7( 1, Cumberland- street, or to a sugar refinery in Virginia- street, Glasgow, where he ha? a cousin employed. Description of two men charged with stealing]; from the brig ' Snoore,' at Beaumaris, Anglesey, on the 27th ult., the ship's Boat ( which has beeu found near Aber), a Scotch tweed Jacket, a pair of new bhicher Boots, a pair of brown worsted blockings, and about 22s. in Money : one is about 21 years 01 age, full face, no beard, is a Russian, and speaks w'ith a foreign aocent. The other is about 18 years of age, very short stature, and a native of Belfast, Ireland. They will probably make for some seaport town. Information to be given to Inspector Parry, Menai Bridge Company, Anglesey.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen from Warley Barracks, on the 28th ultimo, the property of an officer : a gold keyless hunting Watch, small open space in the centre, cock and wings engraved ou back, maker Prost. Vivey ; a gold albert Chain, cable pattern, with tiger's Claw set in gold, attached ; a gold Breast Pin ; a blue pilot Coat, single- breasted ; a pair of black doesliiu Trousers ; a blue pilot Waistcoat; a pair of lace up Boots ; a black Necktie, with gold Pin; a pair of dogskin Gloves, lock stitched down back ; a shooting Coat, Vest, and pair of Trousers, made of brown soft cloth. By a lance corporal, of the 2ud Battalion, 24th Regiment, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, smooth face, brown hair and eyes, marks of vaccination on arms, native of Ipswich, and a carpenter by trade. Information to be given at the Police Station, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- street, Decveviber 3. Further information respecting JAMES GEORGE MONTAGUE WALLACE, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 27th October last, charged with felony at Shoreham and Worthing, & c. : he was at Atherstone, Warwickshire, a few days ago, he visits stone and marble masons, giving a design for monuments, attempts to pass off bad cheques and obtain commission. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Parnell, West Sussex Constabulary, Steyning, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- st, December 1. Stolen from a sloop lying at Sharpness Point, during the night of the 21st instant, the following articles of wearing apparel : a pilot Coat ; a blue Guernsey, nearly new, marked ' H. Description of WILLIAM REEVES, No. 13587, who has broken the conditions of his licence, in not reporting himself to the Police on change of residence, was convicted at Dublin, in April Commission Assizes, on 10th April, 1863, for horse stealing, and sentenced to 14 years penal servitude : he is 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, grey and getting bald, hazel eyes, small nose, fair complexion, round visage, stout make, by trade a cooper, prison trade shoemaker and boatman, a discharged soldier, a native of America, cut mark across left thigh, little above the knee, cut mark on cap of right knee, two small holes on small of back; he was released from Spike Island Prison on the 30th May, 1873, on an order of licence ; he took his discharge for Uplyme, Devonshire, but left that district without reporting himself ; he appears in the Irish Hue and Cry of 18th November, 1873, under Kildare, charged with fowl stealing, & c. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th Section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871, 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112, for not reporting himself should the charge ponding against him not be proved.
