Notice.— It i » requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or Btolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. W. D. BUBNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article ' n the POLICE GAZETTE, nil betters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters snd Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from tho regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Or. the night of the 31st ult., between 9 and 10 o'clock, Peter McPartling, whilst walking in South- street, Middles- borough, received a blow on the left side of the head with a short loaded gutta percha stick, which caused his death. A reward of £ W0 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who can and will give such information aud evidence as will lead to the conviction of the murderer or murderers. The Home Secretary will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who will give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 25. Description of two men charged wiih burglary and assaulting a police constable at Smethwick, at 1' 30 a. m. on the 22nd instant: One about 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, full face, fresh complexion, light hair, slight moustache, no whiskers ; dressed in a soft billycock hat, black cloth jacket, light striped cloth trousers and vest. The other about 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 nches high ; dressed in a light jacket. Both had the appearauce of boatmen. Information to be given to Inspector McWilliams, Smethwick, near Birmingham. — Bow- street, June 25. night of the 19th instant, a Pony, Cart, and Harness. Pony is a dark iron grey mare, 3 years old, well bred, 14 hands high, black legs, and tail reaching to hocks. Spring Cart is painted green, name on back' Charles Eaton, Oxford.' Harness is brass mounted, and common cart collar. Information to be given to Superintendent Head, Oxfoid.— Bow- st., June 23. FORGERY. Description of W. W. ENDLY, draper, charged on a warrant with forging a banker's cheque ou the 7th instant, at Saffron Walden, for the payment of the sum of .£ 75 12s. : 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark eyes, dark complexion, short black curly hair ; dressed iu a dark grey suit aud stiff low- crowned hat ; slightly foreign accent, supposed to be feigned ; is well known , it Ely, where he has recently been a draper's assistant; his real name is supposed to be WILLMOTT. Information to be given to Inspector Rowan, Saffron Walden, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension, or to Superintendent Flood, Newport, Essex.— Bow- street, June 23. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on the platform of the Blechynden Railway Station. Southampton, ou tne evening of the 19th instant: a gold hunting Watch, maker Alfred Pegler, Southampton, No. 34377. £ i> reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the wstch. Information to be given to Superintendent Breary, Southampton.— Bow- street, June 25. Stolen from a gentleman on the 23rd inst., at Brampton Bryan Horse Fair, Herefordshire : a new small silver hunting lever Watch, No. 44928. Supposed by a man, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high ; dressed iu a shabby dark suit, of clothes, and black bowler hat; he is ac- companied by a short woman, about 40 years of age ; dressed in black shawl, dress, and bonnet. £ 2 reward will be paid to any person for such information as will lead to the convic- tion of the offender aud recovery of the stolen watch. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Dykes, Leominster, or Superintendent Phillips, Police Station, Wigmore, Here- fordshire.— Bow- street, June 25. BURGLARY AND HOUSli BREAKING. During the night of the 24th instaut, heathfield Hall, Handsworth, Staffordshire, was broken into, arid stolen' therein : a silver Egg Spoon, crest— a flying spur ( almost defaced) ; a silver Table Spoon, crest— a dragon's head ; a silver Mustard Spoon ; aud a small silver Sugar Bason, with the following inscription on the side : 1 Presented to Thos. Pemberton, Esq., by his grateful friend Thos. Wilson Belles, in remembrance of the zeal and ability he displayed iu the management of his estate during a trusteeship of seven years.' £ 5 rewaid will be paid ou the apprehension aud conviction of the offender or offenders aud recovery of any portion of th; property. Information to be given to Sergeant Hackney, Handsworth, near Birmingham, or at any Police Station in Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 27. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from Bircher, Yarpole, Herefordshire, on the 16th instant, a mare Pony, 7 years old, 12 hands high, bright bay colour, a little white on one hind leg, small saddle mark, left hind leg a little crooked, and mane cut on under side. Supposed by a boy abmt 16 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark grey eyes, and brown hair cut short ; dressed in a white slop or frock, card trousers, old strong boots ( one toe worn off), aud black low- crowned hat with wide broken brim. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Dykes, Leominster, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, June 27. Further information respecting the bay Horse stolen from the parish of Amington, near Tamworth, oil the night of the 3rd instaut, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 6th instant : the horse is a half- bred one, 5 years old, 15 hands high, white star on forehead, bang tail, and when at work carries his tongue out on the right s; de of mouth. Was seen in the posressicn of two men at 2 a. m. on the 4th instant, at a place called Bodymoor Heath, and going in the direction of Birmingham ; the men were dressed as labourers or boatmen, and one was much shorter than the other. A reward of .£ 10 will be paid on the apprehension aud convic- tion of the offenders. Information to be given to Inspector Hursher, Warwickshire Constabulary, Atherstone.— Bow- street, June 27. Stolen from a stable adjoining the canal at Eyton, near Wellington, during the night of the 23rd instant: a black cart Mare, aged, about 14 hands high, short mane and long , tail, hair rubbed off the butt of tail, and a little off end of left ear, a small wart on side of one shoulder, white star on forehead, white hiud foot, two teeth out of upper jaw, and shod all round ; the property of Samuel Smith, miller, Eyton. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, Salop.—- Dwv- street, June 25. Stolen between the mornings of the 9th and 10th iust., from a field at Coton- in- the- Elms : five black- faced shorn hogget Sheep, the property of Mr. William Smith. £~< reward will be paid by the Walton- on- Trent Association, aud £ b by Mr. Smith, for information that will lead to the con- viction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the sheep. Information to be given to Superintendent Carline, Wooden Box, near Burton- ou- Treut, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, June 23. Stolen from Mr. Day, corn dealer, Week street, Maid- stone : a grey Horse, 15 hands high, white face, brokeu knees, spavin on hind legs, and goes a little lame when starting, sore on right side, caused by the friction of the saddle. By a man of the following description : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 1 4 inches high, stout built, and dressed in dark suit of clothes, i Information to be given to the Head Constable, Police Office, ' Maidstone, Kent.— Bow- street, June 23. Stolen on the night of the 19th instant, the property of Mary Rallings, Gosfield, Essex : a darkish chesuut cart Horse, aged, but in good condition, 15^ hands high, star on forehead, long mane and tail, and has a small lump on chest between the forelegs. Three men with horse aud cart are strongly suspected ; they were traced through the Roothiugs and over Hatfield Heath within two miles of Bishops Stort- ford, going towards Hertfordshire. Two men were riding in the cart, aud one, a young man, rather short, dark hair aud complexion, aud dressed iu dark clothes, was riding the stolen Horse. Information to be given to Superintendent Ackers, Braintree, Essex.— Bow- street, June 23. Committed for trial at the quarter sessions to be held at Wisbeach, on a charge of horse stealing, a man nf the follow- ing description : about 45 years of age, 5 feet 54 inches high, dart complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, crucifixion ou right arm, and Britannia and mau aud woman, and various other marks, a scar ou left arm, on right temple, and ou right cheek just below the eye ; he is familiar with prison discipline, and it is supposed he has committed other offences. . Information to be given to the Governor of the Prison, Wisbeach, Cambs. — Low- street, June 23. Stolen from Belton, Leicestershire, on the evening of the 17th instant: a dark brown ( nearly black) Mare, 13$ hands high, cut tail, aud lias two clips ou the off- side between the hip and the tail. By a man who was in the employ of the owner, Mr. Richard Hull, horse dealer, Leicester : he is 22 years of age, 5 feet 8 iuches high, rather red about the eyes, hair cut short, slight build, walks erect, aud has a quantity of blue tattoo marks ou each arm ; dressed in an old brown coat, dark plaid vest, much too large for him, dark cord trousers, old anu toru, brown imitation sealskin cap, and very old boots, worn through at the toes. Information to be given to Inspector Moore, County Constabulary Office, Loughborough, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, June 23. Stolen from a field in Binsey- lane, near Oxford, on the LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of JOHN WRAY or REGAN, charged at Warrington with stealing three pairs of Boots ( unmade) on the 20th instant: about 37 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, small moustache, and tuft of hair ou chin, speak? with a cockney accent; dressed when he left this town in dark grey tweed coat, black cloth trousers, and Wellington boots cut down ; he is journeyman shoemaker. The boots stolen are : one pair man's, balmoral tops, water- tight tongues ; one pair man's, elastic- side tops, and a pair of bottoms and heels for dress shoes, stamped ' R. R.'; and the other pair blocked calf aud elastic tops, toepieces, and sole leather stamped ' J. N.' Information to be given to Chief Constable Hunt, Warrington, Lancashire.— Bow- street June 27. Description of a man, charged at Crook, with stealing from his lodgings, the property of Mr. Joseph Nicholson, on the 24th instant : a patent lever gold Watch, No. 2755, and has the figure of a castle on dial, and a heavy gold albert Guard attached ; a pair of drab striped Trousers and Vest; a checked woollen Shirt ; a brown silk Umbrella ; and about £ 2 in Gold aud Silver : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 iuches high, fresh complexiou, ginger hair and whiskers, is known by the name of ' JOHN,' works as a navvy or quarrymau, and belongs to Suffolk ; dressed in a brown cloth coat, black felt hat, aud strong lace- up boots. Informa- tion to be gifren to Superintendent Henderson, Police Station, Bishop Auckland, Durham.— Bow- street, June 27. Stolen ou the 25th instant, from the factory of Messrs. Ward, iu Litchurch : fourteen pairs of ladies kid Boots, elactic- sides, with bound toe- caps, military heels and channels, and all stamped ' 31' on the waist, value 10s, 9d. each, two pairs were perfectly finished, and twelve were unfinished. By JOSEPH WILSON, shoe finisher, a native of Hickley, has worked in Leicester and Leamington, abont 5 feet 8 inches high, 27 years of age, stout built, sandy mous- tache and imperial, no whiskers, short brown hair, the knuckle of third finger on right hand is knocked up ; - went away in company with a young man named Joseph Tucker, a native of Nottingham, about 5 feet 2 inches high, 24 years of age, stout make, no whiskers, short cut hair, rough red complexiou, is a shoe- hand by trade. A warrant has been issued against him. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Lawson, Constabulary Offices, Litchurch, Derby.— Bow- street, June 27. Description of three men who stopped at the house of Thomas Englishby, eating- house keeper, iu the borough of Wigan, ou the 19th instant, aud left the following morning, who said they were going Newburgh Fair, but it supposed they went to Southport : One gave the name of WILLIAM DEAIRY ( supposed false), about 24 years of age, 5 feet 2} iuches high, light brown hair, hazel eyes, fair complexion, scar on left shoulder, two moles between shoulders, mole on left side of his back, and only seven teeth iu upper jaw ; state he is a barman, aud was born at Bolton ( supposed uutrue), and has resided in Man- chester aud Birmingham. Another is about 42 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair inclined to curl, tufted up in front, and supposed to be a little bald ou the head, dark bushy whiskers, short thick nose, swarthy complexion, stern- looking, restless eye, aud is continually looking suspiciously about him, round shoulders, and very broad set ; dressed in a dark tweed jacket aud waistcoat, greyish tweed trousers with small dark stripe, low shoes ( tie with three holes), and black silk hat with broad brim. The other is about 35 years of age, about 6 feet high, dark hair, slight moustache and beard, very fresh- looking, and very bold iu his manner ; dressed in a blue cloth jacket, waistcoat, and light trousers. The first two came back and stopped at Englishby's all night, going away next day, and were not expected to return, but about 10 o'clock the same night the second man came back, aud whilst in conversation with Englishby, the first came and went up stairs, he shortly afterwards came down aud both men immediately left the house, and Englishby shortly after discovered that a drawer in his bedroom bad been broken open and the sum of £ 24 Ids. and a gold albert Chain taken away. Deairy was afterwards apprehended, but the other two escaped. Ou searching Deairy, i,' 16 and the albert Chain were found upon him, together with a kind of wrench or small jemmy aud four picklocks. The wrench appears to be the instrument used in forcing drawers and doors at the houses of Messrs. Thomas Milligan, Barlow, Farr, and Holt, which were eutered on the 11th instant. Information to be giveu to Chief Constable Simm, Police Office, Wigan, Lancashire — Bow- street, June 27. Stolen on the 11th instaut from a tailor's shop at Ross, a pair of man's dark Scotch tweed Trousers, fly fronts, and machine made. By a tramping tailor, about 24 years of age, 5 leet 1 inch high, " dark hair, no whiskers, dark complexion ; dressed in a drab tweed jacket, trousers, aud vest, bowler hat, and old boots. Absconded from the borough of Shrewsbury, on the 12th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a Watch : THOMAS WM. HAY, by trade a watchmaker, about 36 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, rather thin pale face, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, has an effeminate or squeaking voice ; dressed in brown overcoat, dark trousers, aud high hat, all much worn. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Shrewsbury.— Bow- st., June 25. Stolen on the 21st instant, from Brolchyllyn farm, in the parish of Trefeglwys : a grey cloth Coat, with pockets outside and flaps, an inside breast pocket, and black bone buttons ; a grey Waistcoat, same material, with collar, black bone button-;, and iuside breast pocket; and a pair of grey Trousers, with fall front, has a patch on left leg of another material. By a tramp who had been a few weeks iu Mr. Hughes' service as a labourer, and stated that he had been employed at ironworks : about 32 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, scar on upper lip, brown hair, thin in front, and small brown whiskers ; dressed in the stolen property, and a puce and white comforter, strong watertight boots, and billycock hat. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, or to Sergeant Owen, Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, June 25. Absconded on the 16th instant, from Queen- square, Bloomsbury, charged with stealing £ 30 : a man, 50 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, pale complexion, grey eyes, dark hair and moustache, tnruiug grey ; dressed iu black coat, vest, and trousers, and high hat; has been in the 16th Lan- cers.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 23. Description of JAMES ABRAHAM JACKSON, charged with felony : 37 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fresh complexiou, grey eyes, light brown hair, small light whiskers, high cheekbones, by trade a bricklayer, and a native of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk ; dressed when last seen in old dark coat, white jacket under, fustian trousers, light billycock hat, and lace- up boots; was convicted at Lowestoft on the 19th February, 1873, of an assault committed at Kirtley, and sentenced to six weeks imprisonment with hard labour. In- formation to be given to Head Constable Mason, Police Office, Town Hal), Ipswich, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 23. Description of HENRY WISE, charged with stealing a Portmanteau and contents, from the Monks Ferry Railway Station, Birkenhead, on the 31st ultimo : he was late a porter at Monks Ferry Railway Station, 23 years of age, 5 feet 7i inches high, fresh complexion, round full face, very light hair, small light beard and moustache, scar over left eye ; dressed in a brown velvet coat, with brass buttons, light trousers, and black hard felt hat ; a native of Dorchester, Oxon, last seen at Preston, on the 13th instant, where he made application at the County Police Office, to join the Lancashire Constabulary. Information to be given to Head Constable Kinchant, Borough Police Office, Birkenhead.— Bow- street, June 23. THOMAS HARRIS, a shoemaker, is charged at Chesterfield, with stealing on the 13th instant, a silver verge Watch, the property of William Bateman. Information to be given to the Police Station, Chesterfield, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, June 23. Description of RICHARD CAMPBELL BROMLEY, accountant, who has absconded from Tunstall, charged wiih embezzling several sums of Money belonging to the Chatter- ley Iron Company Limited : about 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, Roman nose, large beard, slight build, and turns his feet out when walking ; dressed in blue cloth overcoat, much worn, black cloth trousers, soft felt hat. Is supposed to be well known in Oswestry aud neighbourhood, having been a clerk in the employ of Mr. Savin ; a native of Wrexham, is supposed to have friends in Dover, aud may have gone there. Informa- tion to be giveu to Superintendent Baker, Constabulary Office, Tunstall, Stafford, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, June 23. Stolen in the borough of Ipswich, on or about the 10th instant: three tame Rabbits ( since recovered). By CHAS. and has worked in a malting there, but for the last five years has been working as a grocer's porter in this town. Information to be given to Head Constable Turrall, Borough Police Office, Cambridge, who holds the warraut for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 25. Absconded from Headless Cross, Redditch, charged with committing a violent assault upon P. C. Andrew Hooper, at Beoley, on the 16th instant: WALTER YOXALL, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, ordinary build, round features, dark swarthy complexion, dark brown hair, little or no whiskers, and small dark eyes; dressed in a grey tweed jacket, tight- fitting light worsted cord trousers, black round felt hat, and lace- up boots ; he is a professional runner, and is well- known at the running grounds at Birmingham and district, where he is supposed to be. Information to be given to Superintendent Humphries, Kings Heath Station, or to Sergeant Harwood, Redditch, Worcester, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 25. Description of two men charged with conspiracy at Reading : GEORGE ARNOLD, about 23 years of age, 6 feet 3 or 4 iuches high, stout built, light hair and complexion, no whiskers ; dressed in short speckled jacket and trousers, low crowned hat, and Wellington boots: THOMAS STONE, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, slight built, dark hair and complexion; dressed iu dark cloth jacket aud trousers, and billycock hat; they are both low horse dealers, and attend fairs with some worthless horse, made up for the purpose of fraud. Information to be giveu to Superinten- dent Purchase, Borough Police Office, Reading, Berks, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, June 25. Absconded from her bail: ANNIE AETTY DARKIN, alias HARRISON, charged with fraud, formerly residing at Camden Town, then of No. 33, Pentonville- road, and now supposed to reside in the neighbourhood of Chelsea, 40 year of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair ( in ringlets); usually dressed in half mourning. Warrant issued. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 23. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Absconded from her bail, charged with felony : ANNE LEONARDI, alias LEE, 54 years of age, 5 feet high, dark complexiou, dark hair, hazel eyes ; dressed iu a black gown and shawl trimmed with beads, black bonnet with red flower, and carried a gold watch and chain. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 27. Description of JAMES SMITH, now under remand at Warwick Gaol until the 2nd proximo, on a charge of obtain- ing charitable contributions by false pretences : 40 years of age, 5 feet 5| iuches high, dark hazel eyes, dark brown hair, and whiskers meeting under chin, sallow complexion, and long visage. States he was born at Cheltenham, and by trade a hawker. Was convicted at Taunton in March, 1871 ; and left about six years ago, that he is a member of the 3rd Durham Rifle Volunteers, Sunderland, and that he has worked for a contractor at Hulme, and at a ship- yard, South Dock, Sunderland. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, June 27. Missing from his home, 58, Chapel- street, Worthing, since the 20th instant: JOSEPH SETH LAUDER, 10years of age, 4 feet high, stout, dark complexion, dark hair, full grey eyes ; dressed in a dark suit aud cap with peak, violet and black scarf, and lace- up boots. It is feared that some ill has befallen him. Information to be given to Superintendent Henderson, West Sussex Constabulary, Worthing.— Bow- street, June 25. Remanded till the 28th instant, at West Bromwich, charged with vagrancy : JOHN TARRANT, 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark brown hair, fair complexion, full face, grey eyes, rather stout, says he is a cigar boxmaker, and a native of London ; dressed in brown coat, blue vest, corduroy trousers, black billycock hat, and old lace- up boots, all shabby. Had in his possession a silver Geneva Watch, engraved on the back of inner case ( which is German silver) ' Cylindrel, 71230, 4— zoyain,' with silver Guard attached ; a Seal, with the words ' Forget- me- not;' and two Farthings, one new, one old. WILLIAM HERRIDGE, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, long thin face, fair complexion, slender build, a cigar boxmaker, and a uative of London ; dressed iu dark grey jacket, dark vest, with red flowers, corduroy trousers, black billycock hat, aud old lace- up boots.
