Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. O. * « * Whenever it is desired that any person should bo appre hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all tetters addressed to tho Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It i9 requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may bo addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Banbury Eair, on the 17th ins., ( supposed at the Railway Station) : a large gold Geneva Watch, nearly new, white dial, No. 17131. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Osborn, Towcester, or Inspector Botterill, Brackley, Northampton.— Bow- street, October 25. Stolen from the person at the Great Western Railway Station, at Warwick, on the 19th instant: a silver lever hunting Watch, engraved cases, maker J. J. Durrant, London, No. 3533. A reward will be paid on the recovery of the watch, and conviction of the offender. Information to be given to Head Constable Hickling, Police Station, Warwick. — Bow- sire( t, October 25. Stolen on the 19th instant, from the person of Mr. Jonathan Wright, while iu Paradise- lane: a patent silver lever Watch, No. 1149 ; also a gold guard Chain, used as an albert. By a woman, about 25 years of age, full fresh face, fair complexion ; dressed respectably. £ 1 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender, and recovery of the property. Informatiou to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Police Office, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 23. Stolen on the 19th instant, from the person of George Wilding, while in King- street: a silver patent lever Watch, engraved on plate ' George Wilding, Blackburn;' a gold Albert, link pattern ; and a gold Locket. £ 1 reward will be paid on the apprehension aad conviction of the offender or - offenders, and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Police Office, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 23. barrels, has been converted from a muzzle- loader, and takes Ely's, No. 14 cartridge. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Richdale, Spilsby, Lincolnshire.— Bow- st., October 25. On the night of the 20th instant, the house of Miss Scott, Stourbridge, was entered, and the following property stolen therein : a gold keeper Ring, chased, much worn ; a pair of gold Eye- glasses; four gold Rings, one set with pearls and garnets, another with a diamond aud ruby, another with pearl and turquoise, and the other with dark brown hair ; a pair pair of gold Ear- rings, drop pattern ; and about £ 10 in gold and silver Money. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Freeman, Stourbridge, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, October 23. Stolen on the night of the 20th instant, from the beer- house of Mr. John Gregson, 55, Penny- street, Blackburn, by means of burglary : £ 40, consisting of 5i Sovereigns, £ 10 10s. in Crowns, the remainder in other silver ; a blue pilot Jacket, very much worn ; a pair of grey woollen knitted Stockings, much worn ; a white calico Shirt, has loops in wrists and neck; and a wool plaid neck Scarf. By WILLIAM HINDLE, alias WILLIAM ENTWISTLE, a carter, about 24 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, thin face, slight dark maustache, dark brown hair, swarthy com- plexion ; dressed in a suit of dark clothes, black cap, and old shoes ; he belongs to the Bury Militia, has a wife and two children in Manchester; he left in the house a pair of soldier's boots, marked ' 2 B 8, 221, 2, ( months)— 70 ( year).' £ 3 reward will be paid for information which will lead to the arrest and conviction of the offender. Stolen at South Molton, on the 17th instant, by means of housebreaking : a Sovereign, a Half- sovereign, some Silver; and a large- size pair- cased silver Watch, minute hand broken, and inside case very hard to open, with a piece of Ribbon attached, maker Graham, No. 282. Supposed by a navvy, about 5 feet 9 inches high, thin face, light sandy whiskers ; dressed in a dirty white slop, fustiau trousers, and cap. In- formation to be given to Head Constable Fisher, South Moltou, Devonshire.— Bow- street, October 23. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. The dwelling- house of Mr. George Wilson, of Preston Gate, Aldbourn, was entered between 1 aud 7 a. m. on the 27th ultimo, and the following property stolen therein : a silver Table Spoon aud Dessert Spoon, marked ' B. G. W.' ; a briar- root Pipe ; Gd. in Coppers; 3 lbs. of Cheese; and 2 lbs. of cooked Beef. Information to bo given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretton, Wilts Constabulary, Marlborough. — Bow- street, November 1. Between 9- 30 a. m. aud 12 noon on the 19th instant, the cottage of James Wolstenholme, at the Brick- yard, Stockton- on- the- Forest, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein ; a black cloth Top- coat, with velvet collar, pockets each side, and one small pocket on the left ' breast; a black cloth Coat ; a black silk velvet Waistcoat, lined with swansdown ; a black cloth Waistcoat; a pair of grey cloth Trousers, a pair of snuff- coloured cloth ditto, aud a pair of pepper- and- salt- coloured cloth ditto, all made with narrow fall fronts, with only one pocket at the light hand side; a pair of pepper- and- salt- coloured cloth Trousers, with broad fall front and pockets ; a grey woolleu Shirt; a white flannel ditto, opens iu frout; three white cotton Shirts, linen fronts, marked ' J. Marsheal' on the right lap ; three cotton Sheets ; two blanket Sheets; a small plaid Shawl; a blue silk Ncckerchief, with small white spots; a white silk Neckerchief; a red and black Tablecloth ; and a pair of flannel Drawers. Information to be given to Superiuteudent Huuter, North Riding Constabulary Office, Heworth.— Bow- street, October 25. During the night of the 22ud instant, the saddle room at the farm of Mr. Bradshaw, at Hundleby, was broken into, and a double breech- loading Gun Stolen, central fire, a small flaw in one barrel, supposed the left, about 3 inches from the muzzle, has had a new screw through the locks, the head of which is rather small, ' West, Louth,' stamped between the HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a field near Henley, Oxon, on the night of the 29th ultimo : two bay half- bred Horses, one 3 years old, about 13i hands high, tail cut square, just above the hocks, and two clip marks ou off hip ; the other 6 years old, 14 hands high, switch tail, and star on forehead, the property of Mr. John Jones, horse dealer. Supposed by a man who goes in the name of BROMME, about 20 years of age, 5 feet high, dark hair, no whiskers, stout built, very much pockpitted, marked on left side of neck from abscess ; dressed in pepper- and- salt coloured jacket, worsted cord trousers, padded iuside of knees, light cloth cap, violet plaid shirt, silk coloured neck- erchief, and wears a white neckerchief over it; belongs to Leightonstone ; he has been travelling to fairs in various parts of the country, in company with Mr. Jones, and is well known to horse dealers. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Fernsby, Oxford, or to Superintendent Coates, Police Station, Henley- on- Thames, Oxon.— Bow- st., November 1. Stolen early on the morning of the 19th instant, from a field near Rhyl : a half- bred dark chesnut Mare, rising 3 years old, about 15 hands high, white streak down fore- head, legs white ( high up), a little hair rubbed off outside of near hock aud near shoulder, tail cut square, good action, and iu good condition. By a man, about 35 yrs. of age, 5 feet 5 or G inches high, sandy hair, small light whiskers under chin, and rather long visage ; dressed in black billycock hat, dark brown coat, and grey woollen cord trousers ; he was traced to Hollins Green, between Mauchester aud Warrington, where he called for refreshment at 2 a. m. ou the 20th instant, and wanted to put up the mare for two hours. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension of the offender aud recovery of the mare. Information to be given to Superintendent Hughes, Holywell, Flintshire, North Wales.— Bow- strcet, October 30. Stolen from a field at the Wild Moor, in the parish of Bromsgrove, on the uight of the 28th instaut: a dark brown cart Mare, aged, about 15 hands 1 inch high, star on fore- head, rather plain head and clean legs, the property of Chas. Brown. Information to be given to Superintendent Bevau, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, October 30. Stolen from a stable, on the Duke of Bridgewater Canal, at Sale, near Mauchester, during the night of the 16th instant : a dark brown Mare, used for boat drawing on the Canal, 10 years old, aud iu good condition, a seal on the left knee from a fall, two lumps ou the back ; the property of Edwin Tomason, Ashley, near Manchester. Information to be given to Superintendent Steeu, Altrincliam, Cheshire.— Bow- street, October 30. Stolen from a field at Belgrave, Leicestershire, on the 15th instant, an iron- grey cob Horse, 1- 1 hands 2 inches high, about 9 years old, in good condition, and short switch tail, the property of Mr. W. B. Graham, near Leicester. Infor- mation to be giveu to Superintendent Burdett, Aylestone, or at the County Constabulary Office, Leicester.— Bo^ o- strcet, October 28. Stolen from a field near Ironbridge, Salop, during the night of the 15th instant, an old dark brown Horse, about 14 hands high, long mane and tail, knees very much swollen, and leather under the fore shoes, the property of Mr. White, Ironbridge. A reward of £ 2 will be paid on the apprehen- sion and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Turner, Madeley, Salop.— Bow- strut, Octo- ber 28. Stolen during the night of the 22nd instant, from Chel- wood, in the county of Somerset, the property of Mr. Daniel Wilkins : a light roan- coloured half- bred Gelding, rising 3 years old, has been broken, a small white streak down the forehead, tail cut square just above the hocks, a small scar or streak on outside of near hind leg, between the fetlock and hock. Information to be given to Superintendent Emson, Somerset Constabulary, Temple Cloud, near Bristol.— Bcnc- street, October 25. Stolen from a field at Beckbury, near Shiffnal, on the night of the 20th instant: a dark brown cart Mare, aged, 15 or 16 hands high, long mane, off foreleg a little bent when standing, has new shoes on fore feet, not turned up, the pro- perty of Makenzie Bothwell, a gipsy. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent, Richardson, Wellington, Salop, or Sergeant Barrett, Shiffnal, Salop.— Bow- street, October 25. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of WILLIAM HENRY SHAW, banker's clerk, charged with stealing £ 1,450 from Lloyd and Co.' s Banking Company ( Limited), Alvechurch, in the county of Worcester : he is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, hair and whiskers light inclining to sandy, long thin face, freckled, prominent cheek- bones, and light eyes, which appear weak. He absconded from his residence, at Alre- church, Worcestershire, on the 8th ultimo. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glossop, Birmingham, War- wickshire, who holds a warrant for his arrest.— Bow- street, November 1. Absconded on the 18th ultimo, from No. 1, Conduit- court, Long Acre, charged with stealing the undermentioned articles, the property of his master: six Watches, viz., one large gold Lever, maker—' Carter, Cornhill,' buff- coloured dial; one silver open face Geneva, No. 36835 ; one small gold demi- hunting Geneva, enamelled, chipped round outer case ; one gold hunting Geneva, dirty dial; cue gold Geneva, with engraved back, and gold dial; and one gold English Lever, open face, metal dome, and gold dial; also a quan- tity of watchmaker's Tools. A man, named DROY, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, rather light brown hair and moustache, grey eyes ; dressed in light tweed coat and trousers, red and black Cardigan jacket, and high black hat. Supposed gone out of the Metropolitan Police District..— Metropolitan Police, E Division, November 1. Also, from 30 to 40 gold Wedding Rings and Keepers. 6 patent gold Collar Studs, one set with cameo, one enamelled dog's head, one set with turquoise, one with garnet aud pearl star. 9 gold Scarf Pins, one dead gold—' Lovers' Knot,' one set with carbuncle, one ditto turquoise cluster, one ditto set with garnet single stone, two set with small carbuncle stones, two bright gold— no stones. 2 blue euamelled Studs, set with a single brilliant in each. 1 cluster Ring, set with diamonds and emeralds. 1 half- hoop Ring, set with diamonds and rubies. 1 ditto ditto, set with diamonds aud emeralds. About 24 ladies' fancy Rings, set with various stones. About 36 gentlemen's gold signet Rings. About 30 sets of geutlemen's gold Studs. About 60 gold Lockets, Seals, and Keys. 1 gold albert Chain, with Seal attached, in bright gold. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hunt, Warrington, Lancaster.— Bow- street, November 1. Stolen from a lodging- house at Fenny Stratford, on the 27th instant: a pair of blucher Boots, gutta percha soles, large hob nails, tips, and heels, the property of William Ryland, fitter. By a man, about 25 years of ege, 5 feet 7 inches high, daik hair, no whiskers, and weak eyes ; dressed in dark monkey jacket, dark trousei- 3, double- breasted white moleskin waistcoat, black billycock hat, turned up at sides, feniau style, aud supposed to be wearing the stolen boots, as he left his old ones behind in the bedroom. Supposed on his way to Coventry or London. Information to be given to Superintendent Hedley, Police Station, Fenny Stratford, Bletchley, Bucks.— Bow- street, October 30. Description of a man who gave the name of ASHLEY, a watch and clock cleaner, who lived at Granby- hill, Hot- wells, Clifton, charged with stealing a silver Watch, the property of Emily Marshall, of Wrington : he is from 40 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, rather thiD sallow complexion, grey hair, whiskers, and moustache, and has a respectable appearance ; sometimes dressed in shabby black, and sometimes iu light clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Gillbanks, Somerset Constabulary, Axbridge, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Octo- ber 28. Absconded from Burslem on tlie 20th ultimo, charged with embezzling various sums of Money, belonging to the overseers of the. parish of Burslem, JAMES HOLDEN, a rate collector, for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued : he is about 46 years of age, but looks older, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, grey hair aud whiskers, bald on top of head, very short- sighted, tound- shouldered, and looks down as he walks. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Longden, Police Office, Burslem, Stafford- shire.— Bow- street, October 28. Stolen from a dwelling house in Wakefield, on the 30th ultimo: a dark mixture cloth Coat, with small white dots through the cloth, single breasted, two buttons in front, two outside pockets, oue inside left breast; a dark blue ribbed cloth Vest, double breasted ; and a pair of striped cloth Trousers, with dark stripes down the sides, all nearly new. By SAMUEL WILSON, alias FINLEY, woolsorter, 42 yrs. of age, 5 feet 8 iuches high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, browu hair, pockpitted, and a native of Leeds ; he has been twice convicted of felouy, and was liberated from tbe West Riding House of Correction, on the 13th January, 1872, and is under Police Supervision. His photograph can be had on application to Chief Constable Chipstead, Borough Police Office, Wakefield, Yorks, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, October 25. Description of THOMAS TAYLOR, a native of Spar- ehott, Berks, charged on a warrant with stealing, on the 5th August last, at Wantage, a silver Watch ( since recovered) from the person of James Payne : he is about 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 melius high, fair complexion, light brown hair, no whiskers, and slight make ; dressed in a light slop, cord trousers, aud soft black hat; he is a farm labourer, and occasionally a carter, aud is now supposed to be employed in the neighbourhood of London as carter to a corn dealer, or working in a malt house. Information to be given to Super- intendent O'Neil, Wantage, Berks.— Bow- street, October 25. Stolen on the 23rd instant, from the dwelling- house of Mr. Chatterton, Horncastle : a pair of men's lace Boots, toe- capped, have been re- soled, sprigged round, about half worn; a small pocket Pistol, single- barrel, supposed to have either the name of ' Wilson,' or ' brown,' stamped on the stock, the end of muzzle scratched ; a drab cloth Coat, lined with check, two pockets outside, one inside left breast, top of left shoulder repaired, open behind about 5 inches, and large dark buttons. By a man who slept iu the house, 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, swarthy complexion, dark hair, cut short, no whiskers, small moustache, good teeth, and is a bad walker ; dressed iu dark plaid cloth coat, two pockets outside, black cloth vest, dark cotton cord trousers, strong lace boots, patent leather leggings, black cloth cheese- cutter cap, yellow button on each side. Information to be given to Superintendent Jarvis, Lincolnshire Constabulaiy, Horncastle.— Bow- street, October 25. Absconded oa the 19th instant, from 70, Berwick- street, Soho, stealing three Coats : HYMAN GILBERT, 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, moustache, and eyes, no whiskers ; dressed in dark pea jacket, light trousers, stripe at sides, black wide awake hat, side- spring boots. Supposed gone to Liverpool to emigrate to America. A warrant is issued for his apprehension.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, October 25. Absconded from Sutton- in- Ashfield, Notts, on the 12th instant, charged with stealing two reefing Jackets ( new), one blue cloth, the other snuff- coloured Petersham, velvet collar, lined with red and black cheque, aud bound with broad knotted braid, the property of his master, Mr. Robert Knutton, tailor, aud for whom a warrant has been issued : CORNELIUS O'DOWD, otherwise GEORGE PAYNE, 25 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, light complexion, a scar on left cheii,' B. C.' on hie side; an Irishman, has been in the army, is a tailor, and well known to the Police in Birmingham, Sheffield, and Manchester, having from six to twelve months ago been ap] « - ehended in Manchester for • felony in Sheffield, for which offence he was convicted aud sentenced to imprisonment at Wakefield ; dressed iu black • shooting coat, drab troueers, and brown stiff hat. Description of JOHN DAVIES, bricklayers labourer, a native of Shrewsbury, charged ou a warrant with stealing on the 15th instant, from the dwelling house of Abraham Mansell, of Church Pulverbatch, Salop, an old fashioned silver verge Watch, No. 14261, maker Henry Rowley, salop, the property of Elizabeth Mansell, Church Pulverbatah: he is about 60 years of age, 5 feet G inches high, grey hair, cut short behind, bald on top, small grey whiskers, thin face ; dressed in a black cap with peak, white slop, old black cloth waist- coat, much faded, white cotton cord trousers, which has been new fronted up to about the middle of the thigh, aud lias beea recentlv uashed, and old thiu boots. Information to be given to Sergt Davies, County Constabulary Office, Shrews- bury, Salop.— Bom- street, October 23. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Castle Eden Colliery, on the 6th August last, the property of Martin Mullaney : a silver lever Watch, with silver dial aud gold figures, No. 774. with silver albert Chain attached. By MICHAEL McLACKLAN or McGLACKLAN, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion and eyes, pro- portionate figure, an Irishman, has worked as a pitman for several years iu the county of Durham, and recently he has been iu the habit of obtaining lodgings at colliery places, staying a short time, aud then absconding, robbiug the parties with whom he lodged. Information to be given to Superintendent Scott, County Constabulary, Castle Eden, Durham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bm- street, October 23. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described). Description of HENRIETTA CHAMPION, alias FARLEY, charged with felony : 30 years of age, 5 feet G iuches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, and grey eyes. She is said to have two husbands living, one is George Farley, of No. 18, St. Andrew's- street, Wandsworth- road, London, the other William Champion, a Sapper, 18th Com- pany, Royal Engineers, now stationed at Woolwich ; she is known at Mrs. Davison's, Westbury- street, Wandsworth- road, London ; Mrs. Beaufort, 544, Lineon- terrace, Wandsworth ; John Harding, George st., Summerstown, Chichester ; James Fairmanor, Tower- street, Chichester, coachman ; and Samuel Aylmor, Southgate, Chichester, cordwainer.
