Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may hear the Signatnre of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow Streot, London, W. O. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwardod to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor most be pre| iaidt, otherwise the insertion will not bo made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Dnder Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. On the night of the 11th instant, some straw in the barn and stackyard of Mr. Joseph Round, farmer, Ivenley, in the parish' of Kinver, was set fire to, thereby causing great damage aud loss of property. £ 20 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to the conviction of the offenders. Information to be given to Sergeant Baldwin, Kinver, or to Mr. Joseph Round, Ivinley, near Stourbridge, Staffordshire. — Boa- street, < September 10. sallow complexion, grey eyes, dark brown hair, has a small mark on left temple, left arm, and back of left hand, ' G. S. M. B.' tattooed on right arm, large scar on right wrist, end of first finger of right hand deformed ; he is a joiner, and of Irish parents. ROTHERFORD BLANCHARD, 30 years of age, 5 feet inches high, sallow complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, has large marks from disease round the neck and under chin, also a scar of left side of chin ; is a native of Ireland, and is a shoemaker. Information to be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Central Police Office, Sheffield, who holds a warrant for their appre- hension.— Bow- street, September 11. Stolen from the person of William Roff on the 7th inst., in the Cattle Market, Bedford : a silver lever Watch, English make, No. 2421. Stolen from the person, on the 3rd instant, on Warwick race- conrse, a silver lever Watch, maker Benson, London, No. 21360. One Guinea reward. Information to be given to Head Constable Hickling, Warwick.— Bow- street, Sept. 9. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of Mr. James Noyes, at the ' Royal Oak Inn,' Pewsey, ou the 15th instant: a silver lever Watch, with seconds, copied aud jewelled in three holes, English make, minus of ringbow, which was twisted out. By some Hussars, from the camp, then at Pewsey, and who are now en route for Aldershot. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Coustable Stretton, Marlborough, Wilts.— BiW- street, September 20. Supposed to have been stolen from the person of a lady, in Hastings, on the 15th instant: a lady's gold Geneva horizontal Watch, gold dial, No. 30617, with gold Chain attached. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glenister, Hastings.— Bow- street, September 18. Stolen from the person at the Porton Station, of the London and South Western Railway, on the 12th instant: a gold hunting plain case lever Watch, maker Barrand, No. 2 | 6670. Supposed by a man, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, long dark hair, whiskers, aud moustache; dressed iu a dark coat aud trousers, light- coloured bowler hat, with a wide black band louud it. Stolen from the person, at the Eastbourne Railway Station, on the 5th instant : a gold j- plate Watch, enamelled dial, engine- turned case, small hole in centre of dial, which is cracked, compensation balance, maker John Walker, 321, Holborn, No. 22812. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Waghorn, Hailsham, or to the Sergeant cu duty, Police Station, Eastbourne, Sussex.— Bow- street, September i3. Description of five persons who committed a garotte robbery between 11 ami 12 o'clock on the night of the 4th instant, stealing aud taking with them a silver Watch and Chain, with silver Bar attached, a Half- sovereign, aud 5s. in Silver, from the person of James Foster, of Langley, Kent: One about 35 years of age, 0 feet 11 inches high, dark hair and complexion, has lost the front teetli, and speaks with an Irish accent ; dressed in monkey jacket aud rough cap. Another about 30 years of ago, j feet 8 or 9 inches high, stoutly built, dark whiskers and moustache; dressed in light hard felt hat and light rough overcoat. The others are about 2> years of age, dressed in old black clothes and black felt hats, and had a boy with them, between 12 and 13 years of age, also dressed in old dark clothes. These persons are supposed to be from London, and may be found in some of the hopgardens of Kent, or at public- houses, beer- houses, or lodging- houses frequented by In. p pickers. Description of two men, charged with larceny from the person, aud who escaped from custody at Sheffield, about 11 a. m. on the 9th instant.: JAMES MORGAN, 22 years of age, 5 feet G inches high, BURGLARY A. XD HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of shop breakiug in the borough of Middlesborough, sometime during the night of the 17th inst., the under- mentioned articles of- new Clothing: six brown cloth Overcoats, melton and beaver, two or three of them with black velvet collars, quilted liuiugs, and stitched edges ; two blue cloth reefing Jackets, lined with flannel, one of them bound with braid ; two black cloth shootiug Coats ; three mixture cloth shooting Coats, double- breasted, and have two buttons on the cuffs ; two pairs of dark mixture ' cloth Trousers, fly fronts; two dark mixture cloth Vests, double breasted ; a blue witney reefing Jacket, velvet collar and quilted lining; two dozen woollen Shirts, different colours; two dozen Sheath aud Pocket Knives; a dozen re miidi Vests, of different kinds of cloth ; and five or six pilot Vests, lined with blue serge. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Police Office, Middlesborough.— — Bi/ w- street, September 20. Stolen by means of bouse breaking, at Chilham, Kent, on the 13th instant: a single- barrel Gun, stock broken and fastened together with a piece of copper wire; a Bill Hook ; a Wedding Ring ; an old suit of grey Clothes ; aud a black cloth Vest. Supposed by a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, light hair, long whiskers, and slight moustache; dressed iu dark pilot coat, cotto. cord trousers, recently washed, aud round black hat; carried a bundle in a blue and white handkerchief. Information to be given to Superinten dent Noakes, Kent County Constabulary, Ashford.— Low- street, September 16. Between 10 and 11 a. m. on the 12th instant the house of Sir. Henry Peake, of Stamford, was broken and entered, and stolen therein about 10s. in Silver. By a man, about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, pale thin face, no whiskers, small dark moustache, dark hair ; dressed in short black coat and vest, tight- fitting light coloured cord trousers, soft black billycock hat, aud high- heeled Wellington boots. Information to be givm to Superintendent Ward, Stamford, Lincoln.— Bow- street, September 15. Stolen by housebreaking, during the night of the 7th instaut., from Cavalry Barracks, Hounslow : a silver Soup Tureen, cover 9 iuchjs by 6 ioches, notched round edge, embossed knob on top, crest— crown aud garter, ' Queeu's Own Hussars' in cipher round garter; a black ribbed cut- away Coat, ' Statery & Co., Limerick,' under collar; two black cloth Vests; a pair of Bedford cord Trousers ; a blue silk Scarf; a pair of military riding Boots, new ; and 14s. fc'd. in Silver. Also, two oval- shape silver Waiters, 6 in. by 4 in., with four legs, embossed, crest in centre— a crown in garter, ' Queen's own Hussars' in cipher rouud the garter. Supposed by a deserter, 21 years of ago, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown bair, aud hazel eyes ; dressed in regimentals. There were left behind a carpenter's Mallet, an old pilot Jacket, and a pair of leather lace- up Boots. — Metro- politan. Police, T Division, September 16. During the night of the 9th instant, the house of Mrs. Sismey, of Offord Cluney, Hunts, was broken aud entered, aud three silver Tea aud one Mustard Spoon, marked ' E. O.,' a pair of new lace- up shootiug Boots, with eyelet hooks near the top, and 120 Postage Stamps, stolen therein Supposed by a man about 25 years of age, about 5 feel 6 iuches high, very little whiskers, short hair, large full eyes, aud stoops slightly ; dressed iu a short dark coat, dark trousers, aud black low- crowned felt hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Copping, St. Neot's, Huntingdon- shire.— Bow- stred, September 13. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on the 9th instant, at Wadhurst, Sussex : a crinoline Bonnet, trimmed with yellow ribbon, black lace, aud pink roses; a buff- coloured cotton Dress, black buttons down the front; a Ureas, white ground with blue stripes, deep frill round the bottom ; a plain white Petticoat; 2 yards of new Scotch Plaid ; a white cotton Handkerchief, coloured border ; a curly black astracan Jacket, brass buttons with a green stone in tbem ; a brown silk Umbrella, cane handle ; a black ve1 vet Jacket, black binding; a black silk Skirt; two wnite Petticoats, one with frill round the bottom, the other plain calico, with one tuck, fastens with two hooks; 6| yards of new coarse Flannel; 3 yards of scarlet Flanni 1, partly made into a petticoat; 10 yards of I new Calico, in three pieces, has been scalded ; a muslin Skirt, white and lavender; aud a white cotton Dress, white bnttons down the front, frill round the bottom. Information to be ! given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes ; to Superinten- dent Peerless, Uckfield ; to Sergeant Avery, Court House, Mark Cross ; or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bmc- s'. rett, September 13. Stolen between 3 and G p. m. on the 4th ultimo, from a cottage at Marden, Kent, by means of housebreaking: a ; black cloth Coat, pockets ou hips, black silk lining, three buttons on frout aud two on back ; a drab vest ; a black billycock Hat; aud au old pair of lace- up Boots. The offender is supposed to be wearing the stolen property, as an old suit was left behind. Information to be giv.- n to Super- intendent Morgan, Police Station, Cranbrook, Kent.— Bow- street, September 11. Between 8 a. m. and 12 p. m. on the 5th instant, a cottage at Oakshot, Surrey, was broken iuto aud stolen therein : one black cloth Jacket, two black cloth Ve^ ts, one black cloth Overcoat with velvet Collar, one pair of grey Trousers, one grey Vest, one pair of pepper- and- salt- colour Trousers, two dark Vests, and a red woolleu Shirt with black stripes. A man is suspected about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, very long moustache and whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes. He left Esher Railway Station '• tor London about 4 p. m. on the same day, carrying two large buudlea. Information to be given to Superintendent Bungard, Surrey Constabulary, Chertsey.— Bow street, September 9. Between 6 and 11 a. m. on the 4th instant, the dwelling- house of George Capleton, was broken into, and - toleu there- in : a pair of black cloth Trousers ; two c ot I Vests, one black, the other a mixture with dark brown aud black, with stripe up the frout, lined with drab; a pair of woisted Stockings ; two new white Shirts ; a black felt Hat ; a Half- Sovereign ; & c. Supposed by a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, and very little whiskers; dressed in old dirk coat, dark trousers, and black cap, fitting close to head. Between 1 and 6 p. m.. the 3rd instant, the dwelling- house of John Cook, Rainham, Kent, was broken into aud stolen therein : one pair of lace- up Roots, one pilot cloth Suit, one black cloth Coat, browu Vest, two woollen Shirts, three new blue striped Shirts, four plated Tea Spoon, 1 silk Shawl, one Paisley Ditto, Eightpence in t:. pper Money & c. Stolen from Witheridge, on tbe 14th instant : a ewe Sheep, marked with pitch ' 44,' on each side, and ' F.' on the near leg; the property of Mr. Charles Frost, Coombe, Witheridge. Information to lie giveu to Superintendent Wood, B Division, Devon Constabulary, South Molton.— Bow- street, September 20. Found at Codford, Wilts : a South Down wether Lamb, supposed to have beeu stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Abbott, Warminster, Wilts. — Bow- street, September 20. Stolen on the 2rd instant from a field in the parish of Sherwill, Devon, the property of Richard Thorne : an iron grey Mare, about 8 years old, has a slight scar ou each knee and the tail cut square ; a Bridle, ba « n curb- bit and a red front strap; also a Saddle. SAMUEL SLOLEY, a native of Brendon, was seen riding the horse the same day as stolen in the direction of North and South Molton ; he is about 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 indies lii^ h, stout build, black hair and whiskers, and is very near- sighted ; dressed iu a black doth coat aud vest, grey trousers, with black stripe about two inches wide down side, black billycock hat, very dirty, aud lace- up boots ; be may have gained admission into some workhouse or public institution in or about Bristol, as he has done so on a previous occasion. Information to be given to Superintendent Kaird, Devon Constabulary, Barn- staple, or to Police Coustable Salter, Constabulary Station, Sherwill, Barnstaple, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— B< ro- street, September 20. Stolen on tbe night of the 11th instant, from a field in the parish of Mellis, Suffolk, the property of Mr. John Andrews, farmer : a white faced chesnut cart Mare, about 8 years old, 16 hands high, thick hocks, aud has a scar ou the back. Information to be giveu to Serjeant Vincent, Police Station, Eye, Suffolk.— Bow- st< eet, September 18. 2 September 20 Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 14th instaut, from a field belonging to John Dudly, of Pool Quay, Welshpool : a small dark brown male Donkey, about o years old, small white spot under the saddle, the fore shoes are new, with four holes stamped iu each, aud the hind ones are old ( oue is heavier than the other and channelled for the nails). Suspicion is attached to some travelling or strolling nailors from Staffordshire. Iuformation to be given to Superintendent Stretford, Welshpool, or to Police Constable Rogers, Guilsfield, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, Sept. 18. Found, supposed to have been stolen : a grey Gelding, aged, scars on knees, about 13 hands high, in good condition, aud wall eye on near side. Information to be given to Superintendent Deane, Borough Police, Newbury, Berks.— Bow- ttreet, September 16. Stolen from a field at Halesowen, on the night of the 10th instant, the property of George Grainger : a valuable black cob Horse, 15 hands high, 7 years old, near hind fetlock white, aud in good condition. Information to be given to Sergeant Kemp, t'olice Station, Halesowen, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, September 13. Further information respecting the Donkey stolen frotr Copalder, in the parish of Benwick, in the Isle of Ely, aud advertised in the Police Gazette of the 28th ultimo : it was sold between Sutton aud Haddenham, the next day, by a man, who is charged with stealing the same, he was going in the direction of Cambridgeshire or Suffolk, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 6 iuches high, dark hair aud whiskers uuder the chin ; dressed iu dirk chummy hat, velvet jacket, fustian or drabbet slop and trousers, old lace- up shoes, much worn at the heels and the toe of one worn out. Information to be given to Inspector Mitchell, Chatteris, Isle of Ely.— Bow- street, September 13. Stolen during the night of the 7th instant, from a stable at Glebe Farm, Hanworth : a black cob Mare, aged, about 14 hands high, white on forehead and off hind heel, short tail, in good condition, and had on au old snaffle Bridle.— Metro- politan Police, T Division, September 13. Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 9th instaut, from a field near Clive Vale, in the parish of All Saints, Hastings : a dark brown mare Pony, aged, about 13 hands high, white mark down face, and off hind foot white. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glenister, Hastings, Sussex.— Bow- street, September 11. Stolen on the night of the 2nd instant, from a field near the Green Man, Leytonstone, Essex : a bright bay Mare, fat, about 14 hamls high, star with white streak down face, sand- crack in near hind hoof, long black mane, and switch tail. Any person giving such information at the Police Station, Wanstead, Essex, as will lead to the recovery of the mare and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 2 reward. — Bow- street, September 11. Supposed to have been stolon, from Quest Moor Farm, in the parish of Eardisley, ou the night of the 20th ultimo, the property of Mr. Thomas Williams : a croam- coloured cob horse Pony, aged, about 13 bauds high, very fat, black mane and tail, saddle- marked on back in farm of a honseshoe. Iu- Iprmation to be given to Sergeant Edwards, Eardisley, Here- fordshire. — Bow- street, September 11. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded on the 16th instant, from Billington, near Leighton Buzzard, charged with stealing from his lodginga £ 1 2s. and a pair of men's side- spring Boots, nearly new : a man giviug the name of SAMUEL HARRIS, about 18 yrs. eT age, 5 feet high, rather stout, dark complexion and hair ( curly); dressed in dark coat, and black low- crowned billy- cock hat ; has been employed at coprolite works iu Cambridgeshire, and is supposed to have a relative a farmer at Wootton, Northamptonshire. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Clough, Leighton Buzzard, Bedford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Septem- ber 20. Charged on a warrant with embezzling 25s., the moneys of his employers : THOMAS MILTON JARRETT, 40 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark complexion; dressed in brown slop, pilot coat, speckled vest, mended at sides with black cloth, fustian trousers, patched on knees, Cotton drawers, ' J.' in red cotton ou band, calico shirt, plaid scarf, and billy- cock hat, all old ; is marked ' D.' ou left side, and has served in the Royal Marines.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, Sep- tember 20. Description of OWEN MITCHELL, alias SHAKE- SPEARE, alias MELTON, who is charged on a warrant with embezzliug £ i 1- ls., the monies of William Harris, of Swineshead, on the 12th instant : he is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light hair, very little whiskers, blue eyes, wide mouth, and broad projecting teeth ; dressed in drap jacket with sliver underneath, green trousers fitting tight, aud black cap or billycock hat ; has the appearance of shabby groom. He is well known in Sleaford, Stamford, Horncastle, aud most t ® wus iu Lincolnshire; is generally iu company of horseoreakers. Information to be given to Superintendent Thorsby, Skirbeck Quarter, Bostou, Lincoln- shire.— Bow- street, September 20. Description of GEORGE WALKER, charged on a war- rant with stealing thirteen bibles, one Blanket, one Coat, and one Hat, ou or about the 13th instant ; is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, light complexion aud hair, giuger beard on chiu and moustache, and walks lame ; dressed in black frock coat, plaid trousers, silk hat, and wore elastic- side boots; was formerly in the Leeds, Manchester, and Liverpool Police Forces ; has generally with him a boy about 0 yeilrs of age, dressed in a knickerbocker suit ; his wife has friends at Barrow- in- Furness. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Wetherell, Leeds.— Bow- street, September 20. Description of FRIEND EAGLESTONE, late signal- man in the employ of the London, Chatham, and Dover Railway Company, at the New Brompton Station, Kent, who abscouded ou the 30th ultimo, charged on a warrant with larceny : 30 years of age, about 5 teet 8 inches high, light blue eyes, brown hair, aud pitted with small- pOx ; dressed in light coat, dark trousers, nud cheesecutter cap ; was last seen at the Robin Hood public- house, Blue Bell Hill, near Maid- stone, at 11 p. m. on tbe 11th instant. Information to be given to Inspector Moores, London, Chatham, and Dover Railway, Victoria Station, London, S. W., or to Superintendent Merrett, Police Station, Chatham, Kent.— Bow- street, Sep- tember 18. Absconded on the 12th instant, from No. 48, Long- acre, embezzling various sums of money amounting ti) £ 60, W. J. SEPPINGS : he its 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, silver- grey curly hair, slightly pockmarked, sun- burnt round neck, large wart on middle finger of right hand, black moustache, aud dark brown eyes ; dressed in a light grey coat, velvet collar, blue corded double- breasted vest, dark blue trousers, aud round hat. It is supposed that he will endeavour to emigrate. A warrant is issued for his apprehension.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, September 18. Stolen from a lodging- house in Newtown, on the 14t. h instant : au old- fashioned silver verge Watch, No. 10679, double case, ' Pryce Trow' scratched on tho inside of case. By a tramping french polisher, from 40 to 45 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark browu hair, rather stout, and walks erect ; dressed iu dark cloth jacket, very much worn, dirty moleskin trousers, puce plaid shirt, and large jimcrow hat. Information to be giveu at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, Montgomeryshire,— Bow- street, ' September 18. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 100 : CHARLES MIDDLEBROOK, a clerk, about 18 years of age, 5 fact 8 inches high, dark hair, sallow complexion, high cheek bones, and thin build ; dressed in black coat and vest, dark grey trousers, elastic- side boots, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Wetherell, Town Hall, Leeds.— Bow- street, September 18.
