Not& ce.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may hear tile S& gnature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be mode and addressed to MB. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and'sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, a. 11 setters addressed to the Editor snUMt H> c urtepald, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Description of HENRY KAY, charged ou a warrant with forgery : about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, florid complexion, light hair ( very thin on the top of his head), and v. hiskers round the face ; dressed in a dark mixture suit and tall black paramatta hat; he is a leather dresser, and has a relative iu Sheffield. Information to be given to Superintendent Hunt, Leeds, Yorkshire.-— Bow- street, June 28. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Description of two men charged on ; i warrant with stealing, from the person of Stephen Goodwin, at Congleton, .£ 13 in Gold and a leather Purse : JOSEPH DOXEY, fustian cutter, 28 year - of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slender make, fresh complexion, grey eyes, sandy hair. GEORGE MELLOR, fustian cutter, 25 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, pale complexion, grey eyes, light hair, no whiskers, pockpitted. They are supposed to have gone to Manchester or neighbour- hood, and frequent low public and beer houses. Information to be given to Head Constable Bohanna, Congleton, Cheshire. — Bow- street, June 28. Stolen from a gentleman's scarf between 9 and 10 p. m. on the 24th instant, iu Bethnal Green- road, near Wilmot- square : a rough Pearl, 4 inches long, made as a union pin, but without a chain, & c. Information to be given to Super- intendent Hedington, Great Eastern Railway, Bishopsgate Station.— Bow- street, June 26. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in the city of Ripon on the 17th instant: a dark leather Pocket- book con- taining two £ 100 Bank of England Notes. £ 10 reward will be paid on the recovery of the notes and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Burniston, City Police Office, Ripon, York.— Bow- street, June 26. Stolen from the person at Henley Regatta, on the 20th instant: a very old- fashioned massive gold hunting Watch, enamelled face, and plain cases ; on the outside of inner case is a crest— a dragon's head and S— 8 on each side. £ 5 will be paid on recovery. A man who gave the name of JAMES LENNOX was on the 25th instant committed to hard labour for six months for stealing the above : lie is 25 years of age, 5 feet 54 inches high, of Jewish appearance, black hair, small black whiskers and moustache, and well dressed. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Iremonger, Berks Consta- bulary, Maidenhead.— Bow- street, June 26. Stolen from the person on the 19th instant, at the railway station, and upon the race- course, Beverley : a gold English lever Watch, No. 2474; a ditto pair- cased, English lever Watch, No. 62931, maker Ellison, Hull ; a gold lever Watch, No. 43560, maker Greshan and Son ; a gold lever Watch, engine- turned cases, jewelled in thirteen HOLES, dome not gold ; and a silver lever Watch. No. 21641. Information to be given to Superintendent Knight, Guildhall, Beverley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 2( 5. On the morning of the 21st instant, George Smith, of Woodbridge, was violently assaulted, and some Food, which was in a wrapper with a brown border stolen from him. By a tramp, about 30 years of ago, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair and complexion, scan on face ; dressed in old black clothes, black hard felt hat, and trousers torn at the bottom. Information to be given to superintendent Freeman, or to Acting Sergeant Phillippo Wood'.: rtrfgo, Suffolk.- ~ Bow- s'; re° t, June 2G. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 8 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 22nd instant, the cottage of James Morris, of Hopton Castle, Salop, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a moleskin Waistcoat, jean back, lined with calico, and has seven pearl buttons down the front, no sleeves ; a very old yellow and dark silk pocket Handkerchief ; and about 2s. 6d. in Silver and Bronze money. Supposed by a tramp, about 55 years of age, about 5 feet 1 inch high, sallow complexion, dark hair, cut short, excepting in front, where it is worn in ringlets ; he is supposed to have been a sailor, and sells songs at farm- houses, is well known in Shropshire and the adjoining counties. Information to be given to Superintendent Baxter, Church Stretton, or to Sergeant Lear, Bromfield, Salop.— Bow- street, June 26. Description of THOMAS HANSON, a pork butcher who absconded from Derby on the 8th instant, charged with breaking into a warehouse and stealing two sides of Bacon and a Ham : he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, brown hair, bald ou top of head, whiskers on the throat, many blotches on the face, rather round shouldered, has worked in Manchester, Liverpool, and Nottingham. In- formation to be given to Head Constable Hilton, Derby, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street. June 24. Some time between 11 p. m. on the 15th and 3 a. m. on the 16th inrtant, the office of Messrs. Horton and Son, Black Lake Colliery, West Brcmwich, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : a black paper macho Snuff Box, embossed lid; a boxwood ditto, sporting figure on lid with guns and dogs ; a three slide Telescope in black case, maker Salom and Co., Princess- street, Edinburgh, en- graved on cap; a Letter Balance on mahogany stand, and five brass Weights— two \ oz., one | oz., one 1 oz., and one 2 oz. ; one ivory handled Pocket Knife and Fork, fitted to- gether, about 9 inches long when open : and about 30s. in silver Money. Information to be given to Sergeant Smith, Greets Green, West Bromwich, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 21. Stolen from a cottage at Newland, by means of house- breaking, during the 15th instant: an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, with a piece of string attached, the property of Thomas Harsnott. Supposed by a tramp of the following description, who was seen in the neighbourhood : about 5 feet 7 inches high, and dressed in light slop, dark trousers, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Checketts, Upton- on- Severn, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, June 19. Between 12 midnight and 4 a. m. on the 15th instant, the dwelling- house of James Battye, of Cartworth, innkeeper, was entered through the coalhouse door, and about £ 3 in silver and copper Money stolen therein. A man of the following description was seen loitering near the house, and is suspected : a tramping labourer, 22 or 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion ; dressed in drab jacket, corduroy trousers, and old cloth cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Heaton, West Riding Constabu- lary, Huddersfield.— Bow- street, June 19. fetlock of the forefeet, several white spots where the saddle rests, and a few white hairs on the top of neck, caused by the collar, square tail, and in good condition; a Bridle and Saddle were stolen from the stable at the same time. A man of the following description, with the Mare in his pi- jeesiao, passed through the Selby Toll bar, about 3 a- m. ou the 17th instant, and was traced towards Leeds, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, and dark brown hair; dressed in a brown plaid suit, with tight fitting troupers. Information to be given to Inspector Gibson, East Riding Constabulary, Escrick.— Bow- street, June 19. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen, during the night of the 22ud instant, from Hindheath Farm, Sandbach : two mare Ponies, one s dark chesnut, very fat, 6 years old, 13 hands high ; the other a dark bay, 6 years old, 13 hands 2 inches high, has capped hocks ; both the property of Mr. W. Deakin. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the ponies, if stolen, on application to Superinten- dent Roubottom, Constabulary Station, Middlewich, Cheshire. — Bow- street, June 26. Found in Eddlesborough on the 19th instant, and sup- posed to have been stolen : three Horses, one a brown Mare, aged, 13 hands high, white star on forehead, white hind fet lock and switch tail; another is a black Horse, aged, 154 hands high, broken knees, short tail, and in bad condition^ the other is a brown Mare, 15 hands high, 4 years old, off eye weak, has several white marks on near foreleg, and short tail. Information to be given to Superintendent Denson, Police Station, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- street, June 24. Stolen from Blythburgh, on the night of the 20th inst., the property of Amos Barber, hawker: a very short and thick dark bay Mare, aged, about 15 hands high, large white spot on each wither, a place on the rump near the tail, about the size of a shilling, with no hair on, flat- footed, and in good condition ; was traced as far as Kelsale, going in the direction of Ipswich, straying on the roadside. Information to be given to Superintendent Creasey, Yoxford, Suffolk.— Bow- street, June 24. Supposed to have been stolen at Aylesbury, on the 14th instant : a dark brown Mare, about 14£ hands high, half- bred, 6 years old, black legs, a few white hairs on fore- head, the property of Mr. Lambourne, of Steeple Claydon. Information to be given at the Police Station, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- street, June 21. Stolen from a field at Moreby, East Riding of Yorkshire, on the night of the 16th instant, the property of Mr. John Ryder, of Moreby, farmer : a bay blood Mare, aged, nearly 16 hands high, near hind fetlock white, white spot on each LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen on the night of the 12th or morning of the 13th instant, from the yacht ' Spindrift,' lying at Queen's Ferry, Flintshire : a black cloth Ja ket; * brown- coloured Vest ; a pair of Trousers ; a pair oi olucher Boots ; and an old Case containing binocular Glasses, one of the glasses slightly blemished, maker Dolan & Co., London. By DAVID MORGAN, of Merthyr, South Wales, sailor, 20 years of age, 5 feet 14 inches high, swarthy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, oval visage, proportionate figure, two blue marks on right wrist, scar on back of left hand, three blue marks over right eye ; he was discharged on the morning of the 12thinst., from Mold Gaol, where he had been undergoing a month's imprisonment for stealing a pair of boots, from a vessel at Connah's Quay, Flintshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Adams, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- st., June 28. Stolen from the shop of Thoiras Davies, of Builth. black- smith, between 5 and 6 a. m. on the 24th instant : six new shoeing Rasps, flat, one side fine, the other coarse, 14 inches long ; two new Files, three- square ; two ditto, half round; and one ditto, flat, 14 inches long. Also stoleu from the dwelling- house, at the same time : two plated Sait Cellars, gilt inside. By a tramping smith, who had w . ked for Davies and lodged in the house : from 20 to 23 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, thin features, long nose, dark pale complexion, brown hair, no whiskers, and very thin moustache ; dressed in old grey round hard hat, and old dark grey jacket and trousers ; he says he was a native of Staffordshire, and is supposed to have gone to the ironworks in South Wales. Information to be given to Police Sergeant Flye, Builth, Breconshire.— Bow- street, June 26. Description of JOHN NETTLETON, charged on warrant with stealing a do ible- cased silver verge Watch, with cream dial; and a strong steel Chain attached; the watch is numbered 3501, inside the outer case is a paper with ' H. Priest, watchmaker, Knaresbro' printed on, and also ' James Nettleton,' scratched on inside of outer case ; he may endeavour to obtain employment upon railway or other public works : he is 46 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, pale com- plexion, blue eyes, sandy hair and beard, a labourer, native of Blubberhouses, Yorkshire, last residence Scotton ; dressed in grey coat and vest, cord trousers, navvy boots, and Scotch cap with peak. Information to be given to Superintendent Haworth, Court House, Knaresborough— Bow- street, June 26. Absconded from Swaffham early on the morning of the 23rd instant, charged with stealing two Coats, one a black cloth frock, pockets at the sides with flaps, the other a brown cloth mixture, with stripes of darker colour, pockets with flaps ; three pairs of Trousers, one black cloth, one dark- coloured mixture, and one black and white shepherd's plaid ; two Vests, one black cloth, and one dark cloth mixture ; a black silk Neckerchief; and a few yards of a redisli- brown material, for a dress. By ELIZABETH LAWRENCE, a I widow, late of London, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 ins. high, rather good looking, dark brown hail", slightly grey, fresh complexion ; dressed in a cotton print dress, black stripes running down on a light ground, a brown dress, black shawl, and a red plaid one, mixed straw hat, and a dark- coloured bonnet ; she was removed from the Whitechapel Union- house to Swaffham in 1870. Information to be given to Superintendent Lambley, Norfolk Police, S waff ham.— Bffw- street, June 26. Description of JOHN MERTON, journeyman watch- maker, for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued at Worcester, charged with having stolen several Watches and Chains, which have been recovered : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather stout, fair complexion, lightish brown hair, whiskers, and moustache : dressed iu black cloth jacket with pockets on the sides, light grey plaid trousers, and deer- stalker hat. Information to be given to the Worcester City Police.— Bow- street, June 24. Absconded on the ISth instant, from Hammersmith, charged with embezzling 21s., and other sums, received on account of his employer : a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes ; dressed in drab coat, dark mixture trousers, and deer- stalker hat— — Metropolitan Polio, T Division, June 24. Absconded from Midsomer Noiton, charged with em- bezzling various sums of Monev, the property of his master, Mr. Thomas Harris Smith : GEO. HENRY MARSHALL, a clerk, about 41 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair turning grey, cut short, dark moustache, dark eyes, swarthy complexion, has an old appearance ; dressed in dark cloth or velvet coat, dark vest and trousers, high hat; is a dog fancier ; he will most likely make his way to some sea- port towu for the purpose of emigrating. Description of a man who absconded from on the 6th instant, Ecclesliall charged with embezzling the sum of £ 46" 7s " lOd the monies of his employers, Messrs. Robinson and Dempster, solicitors, Eccleshall : he is about 25 years of age 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, black curly hair, black whiskers, beard, and moustache, the latter clipped close, pale, consump- tive looking, large black eyes, rather suuken, and weak husky voice; dressed in black frock coat, dark vest, brown plaid trousei s, long dark overcoat, nearly down to the heels, a tall black hat, and of good address. Information to be given to Superintendent Crisp, Stone, Staffordshire.— Bow- St., June 24. Description of JOHN RACKHAM, of Lowestoft, car- man charged with fraudulently embezzling the sum of £ 4 Os Id. the property of John Alfred Foreman, on the 25th of May last: he is about 30 years of age, stout made, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion and whiskers j- supposed dressed iu a pilot jacket, dark cord trousers, and black stiff billycock hat. He absconded on the 11th instant, and it is supposed he will endeavour to make for America, as his father is living there Information io be given to Inspector Jeffries, Police Statiou, Lowestoft, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- strcet, June 24. Stolen during the night of the 22nd instant, from the Royal Oak Inn, Holton- le- clay : a black satin Dress ; a black stuff Dress, white spots ; a long grey Paletot; a black scarf warrant for his to Chief Superintendent Richardson, " Wellington, Salop.— Boio- street, June 28. Escaped from the County Gaol, Chester Castle, on the 25th instant: PATRICK KENNY, alias CLARKE, alias DONNELLY, 30 ytars of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, slender build, sharp pointed nose, whiskers shaved off, ' P. D. 1861' and other ink iuaiks on each arm, ' B. C.' on right breast, and ' D. D.' on left breast; is well known in Warrington, and will probably be found with tramps or in low lodging- houses. Information to be given to the Governor, County Gaol, Chester.— Bow- street, June 28. Apprehended and remanded at Hartlepool, until the 2nd July next: a man who gave the name of WILLIAM SELL, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, proportionate build, dark brown hair, clive complexion, dark eyes, slight dark moustache, of genteel appearance, and rather good look- ing ; well dressed in black velvet shooting coat, grey mixture vest, black cloth trousers, black silk hat, maker ' D. Craig, hatter, 369, Argyle- street, Glasgow,' white shirt, linen front, grey woollen drawers, red waistbauds, pegged boots with elastic tops ; he is suffering severely from venereal disease. States that he was born in Mecklegate, York, and is now a detective officer in the Metropolitan Police, aud has been so for 6 years past, and that his father is an inspector in the above force. Description of THOMAS WELLER, who has absconded charged on warrant with stealing a carpenter's Stock, and 36 Bits, the property of George Patching, from a work- shop at Brighton, where he worked ; he is about 1 / years of oge, about 5 feet 3 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, rather slight made, wears his hat on the back of his head ; he is an apprentice to a carpenter, and will very probably enlist for a soldier Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- street, June 21. FRAUDS AS'D AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. A man who gave the name of JOHN SPELL ( supposed fictitious), lias been lodging at 7, Victoria- road, St. Alban's, and advertising various property for sale in ' The Bazaar, Exchange, and Mart;' he has received numerous post office orders, but none of the remitters have received anything iu return ; he left his lodgings on the morning of the 18th inst., promising to be back in the evening, but has not yet returned, about 25 letters are lying at the above address waiting for him, and also a number of post jffice orders at the post office. He is from 30 to 35 years of ige, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark rough liair, brown whiskers, mouth and chin clean shaved, and puffed under the eyes ; dressed in brown velvet coat and vest, drab trousers with stripe down side, black hard round- crowned hat, and black and green striped necktie. Information to be given to Superintendent Chapman, Hatfield, Herts.— Bow- street, June 26. Description of a man charged with uttering three coun- terfeit Half- crown Pieces, at Blackwell, uear Carlisle, on the 12th instant: he is 55 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, rather fair complexion, grey hair, inclined to curl, grey whiskers, mixed with brown hair, rather long roman nose, proportionate build, had the appearance of a broken down gent, and supposed to be a native of South of England ; dressed iu a long black frock coat, dirty greyish tweed trousers, and high box hat, all of shabby appearance. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Taylor, County Con- stabulary Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- strcet, June 21. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of two tramps committed for trial at the next quarter sessions for the county of Stafford, for house- breaking : One gives the name of EDWARD HILL, 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, sallow complexion, brown hair, whiskers shaved off, but has a little moustache, and tattooed on arms ; dressed in white slop, buttons down front, corduroy trousers, moleskin vest, chei K shirt, light muffler, black billycock hat, and an old pair of elastic- side boots. He says he is a native of Dudley, but has not lived there for some time, has. served 5 years in the Royal Marines, aud was discharged in 1861, in consequence of ill health. The other gives the name of JOHN LONG, 2G years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slender muke, dark complexion, black hair, and whiskers shaved off; dressed in white slop, buttons down front, dark cloth trouseis and vest, black stripe down sides of trousers, check shirt, black billycock hat, and a pair of militia shoes. He says he is a native of Loudon, and that he has been travelling with Hill for the last few days in East Worcestershire and South Staffordshire. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Disney, Stafford, or to Sergeant Barrett, Penkridge, Staffordshire. — Bmc- st., June 28. Absconded from Lusk Convict Prison, co. Dublin, since 11- 30 a. m. on the 29th ultimo : MICHAEL REGAN ( Reg. No. 2133), 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, average make, dark brown hair, grey eyes, dark brown eyebrows, fresh complexion, oval face, no whiskers, and has a large brown mole on ribs at right side; dressed iu corduroy trousers, striped barragan vest, marked ' L. P.,' and dark frieze cap; he is a labourer, born at Cappoquin, Waterford, where he resided before hi3 conviction, and is supposed to have enlisted. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who may apprehend and deliver up the above convict. Information to be given at the Constabulary Stations, or to the Officer in charge of Convicts at Lusk, county Dublin.— how- street, June 28. Missing from his home at Albrighton, Salop, near Wol- verhampton : GEORGE PURKS, a labourer, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, sandy complexion, whiskers round face, fresh complexion, and stout build ; dressed in a brown billycock hat, yellow aud black stripe moleskin jacket and trousers, brown woollen cord vest, and watertight boots He is supposed to be at Liverpool.
