The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Notice.— It ifl requested that all communications for the purposo of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. W. D. BURNAB the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without hifl authority. INFORMATIONS. FORGERY. Charged 011 a warrant with forging and uttering a banker's cheque and order for the payment of £ 87 10s. CHARLES T. DORRETT, about 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slender figure, sallow complexion, high bone on bridge of nose from an injury, brown hair, slight whiskers and moustache, walks stiffly with one leg ; dressed respectably, and is very fond of playing at billiards. Information to be o- iven to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Boxo- street, April 1. ROBBERY AID LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person in Brighton, during the last few days: A wold hunter Watch, maker Frodsham, crack across seconds baud, with a gold Chain attached, long links, having on it a Mordan's gold Pencilca. se and a small Compass. An old- fashioned gold Watch, No. believed to be 1129, Judgment of Solomon engraved on back, with a lady's gold Chain attached. A gold op; n- face Geneva Watch, a gold link pattern Chain with Key attached ; the key has a white stone 011 one side, and a black stone with a white mark across on the other side. A silver lever Watch, with gold figures, the name of the owner,' Charles Gumbrell,' engraved inside, No. 7313. A gold lever Watch, enamelled face, with a snake- pattern ° Albert Chain attached, and two Seals, engraved with a beech tree. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton.— Bow- street, April 5. Stolen from the person on the night of the 28th ultimo : a lady's gold English lever Watch, No. 4351, with flowered back and bow broken. £ 2 reward will be paid for such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders aud recovery of the watch, 011 application at the City Police Station, Worcester.— Bow- st., April 1. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in the borough of Tynemouth, on the 13th instant, two £ 5 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 50742 and 98540. About 9 p. m. on the 1st instaut, the dwelling- house of William Davis, Esq., South- street, Smethwick, was entered, and the following property, from a cash- box, stoleu therein : ,£ 49 in Gold ; £ 100 111 £ 0 Bank of Euglaud Notes, Nos 89495, 15757, 15758, 15759, 15760, 15761, 15762, 15763, 15764, 15765, 15766, 15452, 19260, 19259, 19257, 19258, 76135' 04805, 73533, aud 07369, aud each stamped in an oval form '' Chance, Brothers, and Co., Glass Works, nr. Birming- ham ';' and a check for £ 14 9s. 6d., on the Midland Bank, which has been stopped. Information to be given to Inspector Ordish, Staffordshire Constabulary, Smethwick, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, April 3. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 1 and 4 on the afternoon of the 1st instant, from the cottage of Joseph Haines, in the parish of Coggs, near Witney, Oxon : an old- fashioned silver Watch, No. 9796 ; and 15s. 5d. in Money. Supposed by a tramp. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Cope, Police Station, Witney, Oxou.— Boio- street, April 3. Between 10 p. m. on the 20th and 6 a. m. on the 21st inst., the dwelling- house of Mr. Edwin Greggory, grocer, of Street, Somerset, were broken and entered, and the following pro- perty stolen therein : a Cash Box, containing a Bank of England £ 5 Note, £ 12 in gold, about £ 13 10s. in Silver and Copper Monies, 10s. worth of Receipt Stamps, a Cheque from Robert Impey for £ 4 ( endorsed ' S. E. Clarke), a Policy for Fire Insurance, and the Will of Mr. E. Greggory. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Drewett, Somerton, Somersetshire.— Bow- street, March 25. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen during the night of the 1st instant, from Ower, near Romsey : a bay Mare, 6 years old, about 14 hands high, in good condition, white stripe down the face, extending to the nostrils, thick mane and tail, squared at the hocks ; a spring market Cart, body painted blue, and wheels red, shaft broken near the step; also a set of light Harness, brass- mounted pad ; the horse and cart were traced in the direction of London. Information to be given to Superintendent Kelleway, Hants Constabulary, Romsey.— Bow- st., April 5. The Horses advertised in the Police Gazette of the 1st instant as stolen from Dunstable, have been recovered, and two men have been committed for trial at the next Surrey Quarter Sessions, charged with stealing the same : one gives the name of THOMAS SMITH, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, and brown hair ; dressed iu a light brown cloth coat and vest, brown trousers with light stripes, and black billycock hat; supposed to be known at Ware, Herts ; and the other gives the name of THOMAS GOLTY, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, and fair complexion ; dressed in a drab jacket and trousers, and black billycock hat. Another man is charged with being concerned in the offence, and has yet to be appre- hended : he is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, full face, black curly hair, stoutly built, and hoarse voice ; dressed in moleskin jacket, tight- fitted corduroy trousers, grey rabbit- skin cap, and new coloured silk neckerchief. These three men have been travelling about the country with a van, in which they sleep ; they were seen together on the 30th ultimo. Information to be given to Head Constable George, Dunstable, Beds.— Bow- st., April 5. The man described in the Police Gazette of the 25th ultimo, charged with stealing three Horses at Newmarket, has been apprehended, and remanded for a week ; the two horses before described have not been recovered. Informa- tion to be given to Inspector Steggles, Newmarket.— Bow- street, April 1. Stolen during the night of the 30th ultimo, from a stable at Dunstable, the property of Joseph Osborn, Esq. : a black half- bred Horse, aged, 14 hands high, small star on forehead, long mane and tail, one white heel, and iu fair condition ; and a dark brown half- bred Horse, aged, 16 hands high, star on forehead, near eye blind, hair chafed off the near side, small white saddle mark on the near side, two white heels, and in good condition. The horses were traced in the direction of London, and are supposed to have been stolen by two men who travel with a van : one about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, dark hair, slight figure; dressed in dealer's moleskin jacket, open behind, drab corduroy trousers, black billycock hat, dirty white scarf with dark spots : the other about 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fresh complexion, black curly hair, stoutly built, hoarse voice ; dressed in brown jacket, tight- fitting corduroy trousers, dark rough cap with peak, and new coloured silk neckerchief. Information to be given to Head Constable George, Dun- stable, Beds.— Bow- street, April 1. Description of ISAAC CASS, charged with stealing, on the 21st instant, a Horse, Harness, and Cart ( all recovered), the property of Edward Stephenson : he is a groom, 39 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, slender make, light brown hair and whiskers, sallow complexion, sharp nose, in- kneed, and wears tight- fitting corduroy trousers. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 27. Stolen from a field at Ebberston, between the' 20th and 21st instant, the property of Thomas Harland : a Leicester shearling gimmer Sheep, in good condition, a round hole punched through both ears, and has a blue mark across the shoulders. Information to be given to Superintendent Jonas, Pickering, or to Inspector Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Falsgrave, Scarborough.— Bow- street, March 25. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. HENRY KNOWLES, who absconded from Leintwar- dine, Herefordshire, charged with embezzlement ( as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 22nd ultimo), has been committed for 21 days to the County Gaol at Hereford : he is 39 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, fair but rather swarthy complexion, brown hair, rather sandy whiskers and moustache, has a scar about an inch long on^ the right temple, and has an impediment in his speech ; he came into the service of his late employers in September last. Information to be given to Superintendent Dykes, County Police Station, Leominster, or to Sergeant I1 nd, Police Station, Wigmore, Hereford- shire.— Bow- stre< ml 5. . _ Absconded, c : ed on a warrant with embezzlement: EDWARD WlLLSON, of Stuart's- terrace, New Southgate, late a clerk in the advertising office of the ' Daily Telegraph,' 33 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, rath- r slim, walks sprightly, dark : ind rather curly hair, dark bushy whiskers and moustache, bad teeth, dimpled chin, and speaks sharply ; he resided for some time prior to the spring of last year in the neighbourhood of Hoxton, and was last seen at the South- gate Station of the Great Northern Railway on the morning of the 14th ultimo. £ 20 reward. Absconded from Bideford on the 31st ultimo, chirged with stealing a lead Pump ( since recovered) : WILLIAM ALFRED DENNIS, a labourer, about 19 years of age, about 5 feet high, dark brown hair, small eyes, with small sunburnt face; dressed in dark cloth dirty clothes, lace- up boots, and an old black billycock hat. A man of the following description is charged with stealing a quantity of \\ earing Apparel, from a dwelling- house at Eynsford, Kent, ( recovered) : he is 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, small sandy moustache, whiskers shaved • off, scars on neck under right ear, caused through abscess ; dressed in dark monkey jacket, white ditto or slop underneath, dark cord trousers, and black or blue cloth cap, with peak and strap, with bra « button on each side, with anchor. Description of FREDERICK H BOLLEN. late a clerk and salesman in the employ of Mr. Edwin John Harding, corn dealer, Dorchester, charged with embezzlement: about 29 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, very dark whiskers and moustache, fresh complexion, and eyes appear to be slightly weak; dressed in a blue monkey jacket, with a dark great coat over, with velvet collar, light trousers, leggings, and high black hat, or a blue cloth c:- . jrif'i cheese- cutter peak. Absconded from Chorlev on the 9th ultimo, charged on a warrant with embezzling about £ 9, the monies of his employers, the Liverpool Corporation, TIMOTHY* FAIR- BROTHER, a clerk in the Waterworks Office : he is about 21 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, broad face, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, slight moustache, and stoutly built; dressed in black billycock hat, black cloth coat, pockets at the sides with short laps, dark cloth vest, d? rk mixture trousers, and lace- up shoes with brass eyelet- holes. Information to be given to Sujierintendent Beethani, Con- stabulary Office, Chorley, Lancashire.— Bow- street, April 1. Description of GEORGE DAYISE, alias ROBINSON, charged with stealing 9s., the property of his master, Thomas Downs, of Buildwas, on the 18th ultimo : a pensioner, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slender build, light brown hair, bald on top of head, no whiskers, tattoo marks on both arms ; dressed in black monkey jacket, black billy- cock hat, aud corduroy trousers, and generally wears a medal, supposed from the 50th Regiment ; he is a native of Pool Quay, to which place he is supposed to have gone. Informa- tion to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Wyley, Madeley, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 1. Absconded on the 25th ultimo, from Southborough, Kent, stealing £ 4 : a boy, 12 years of age, 4 feet high, slight build, fresh complexion, and light hair; dressed in a short pea jacket, with large black buttons, brown cloth trousers, black cloth cap with peak, and slippers. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Police Court, Tonbridge, Kent.— Bow- street, April 1. Description of a man named WILLIAM WILSON, late of Faringdon, Berks, a journeyman chairmaker, charged with embezzlment at Witney, on the 24th iustant : 40 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 7 or S inches high, pale complexion, light brown hail-, little or no whiskers, moustache about three weess' growth, slight figure, walks erectly, has been in the army, and is in the habit of singing in public- houses ; dressed in a light- coloured soft- crowned billycock hat, light browu or grey overcoat with velvet collar, black undercoat and vest, dark cloth trousers, and side- spring boots with buttons. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Cope, Police Station, Witney, Oxon, who holds the warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, March 27. Stolen in Bolton on the 15th instant, an old silver lever Watch, No. 32308, very thin case, had attached a worsted Guard with watch Key ( the name ' Pilkington' on it. By two tramps: one ( who went into the house under the pre- tence of repairing gas fittings) is about 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown hair, bushy whiskers, dirty- looking, and proportionate make; dressed in a brown coat, very much mended and stitched in a rough way, black silk hat, peach- coloured neck scarf, black trousers, and boots. Stolen in Bolton on the 23rd instant, a gold lever Watch, maker John Monks, Bolton, No. 31770, with steel hands, large one broken. Description of ANSELL TAYLOR, charged with rape : 28 years of age ( looks older), about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark brown hair, whiskers, and moustache ( the latter inclined to be sandy, aud sometimes dyes them), rather small light blue eyes, fair complexion, and has a scar ou nose, between the eyes. He assumes the name of CHARLES EVANS, is a house decorator, aud a very good workman, is very fond of company, comic song singing, public house concerts, & c., and can play the concertina well. Information to be given to Superintendent Ipay, Cheltenham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 1. JOHN CONNOR, charged with the manslaughter of Thomas Callis in a prize fight at Dartford on the 15th inst,, is in custody, and a warrant has been issued for the appre- hension of the following persons, for aiding and abetting the said John Connor in the . ibove offence : — WOODSTOCK, of London, 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, black hair and moustache, thick eyebrows, whiskers shaved off. DAN MORRIS, a prize lighter, 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, whiskers shaved off, tuft on chin ; dressed in a dark tweed suit, and is a mason by trade. GEORGE CROCKETT, a prizefighter, 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, whiskers shaved off, short moustache, light blue eyes; dressed in a waterproof coat, black hat, and high boots. CHARLES DAVIS, 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, very fair complexion, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in dark tweed coat, tight- fitting trousers, and round felt hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Brandon, Kent County Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, March 28. Further description of JAMES STEWART, alias JAMES GRANT, charged with committing a rape on the 29th ultimo, at Ardradnaig, Lochtayside, in the parish of Kenmore, and county of Perth, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 8th instant : he is a native of Aberdeenshire, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, light brown hair, fair complexion, small long face, light blue eyes, common nose and mouth, thin fair whiskers, small moustache, clean make, not very stout, slightly knoek- lcneed, marked or tattooed on the back of light hand and wrist with bine anchor, and on left hand with a flag, ulcers on legs, and bunions on large toes ; dressed iti dark tweed coat and vest, both good, and having a little white in them, dark moleskin trousers, nearly new, strong lace- up tacketty boots, aud imitation or real sealskin brown bonnet, with peak up in shape of a turban, worn ; has been a soldier, deserted from the 72nd Foot, at Fort George, on the 16th Octobei last, and is marked with the letter ' D.' on left side ; works occasionally with farmers, and at public works as a navvy. Description of a man who is charged with obtaining Money by false pretences and begging petitions : about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in a long black coat, light trousers, black round soft hat ; he is pockpitted, has pimples ° n his face, and sore eyes, aud represents that he has been in an eye hospital, and wants to buy carpenter's tools to go as second carpenter on board a steamer ; he puts the Superintendent of Police';? name on the top of the list, and then calls on the Magistrates. Information to be given to Superintendent Stannard, Hants Constabulary, Bitterne, Hants.— Bow- street\ April 5. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Missing from Coalpit Bunk, near Oakengates, Salop, since the moruing of the oth ultimo: WILLIAM MILLER, 17 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, stoutly built, round face, blue eyes, scar on right side of neck ; dressed in flannel jacket, dark trousers, lace- up boots, and round billycock hat; he is a native of Devizes, aud it is feared that some ill has befallen him. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or at the Police Station, Oakengates, Salop.— Bow- street, April 6. Misiiog from Chester since the 3 th ultimo : WILLIAM FOULKES, 11 years of age, long fair hair ; dressed in dark clothes, lace- up boots, and a red aud grey striped woollen shirt; it is feared that some ill has befallen him. Informa- tion to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Chester. — Bow- st". eet, April 5. Escaped from custody near Wrexham, about 4 p. m. on the 2nd ultimo: JOHN SMITH, alias JOHN WRIGHT, alias JOHN RAWSON, alias RICHARD BARNES, against whom the Grand Jury found a true bill, at the . ast Mold Assizes, for stealing a Horse and Cart : 52 years of age ( but looks about 40), 5 feet 2 inches high, grey eyes, nearly bald, third finger of right hand has been crushed, sc& r on right chetk, under right eye, and on left cheek bone, whiskers shaved off, blue spot on right forearm, and several moles on Missing from Liverpool, whence he intended sailing for Bermuda ou the 28th ult.: JOHN BADCOCK, a pensioner from the Royal Marine Artillery since the 8th of December, 1871, 39 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, grey eye?, dark hair, marked with the small- pox, is a labourer, and belongs to Zeal- Mouachorum, near Bow, Devon. He had spheral pounds in cash with him, and has been stiange in his manner for a few weeks; it is feared that some ill has hefa'len him. Information to be given to Mr. W. W.
