Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may Itear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addrossed to MB. O. *„• Whenever it is desired that any porson should bo appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. Stolen on the 14th instant, from 7, Redcliffe- road, Ken- sington, by housebreaking : a pair of sugar Tongs ; two Tops of Cruets ; nine Spoons, four tea, five salt, all silver ; twenty- one Spoons, one mustard, thirteen tea, six table, and one gravy ; twelve Forks ; and one small soup Ladle, all plated ; two gold Lockets, one plain back and ornamental front, one double horse shoe, with turquoise and pearls; two gold Brooches, one with button in centre and beads round the edge, one twisted, without pin ; one onyx head Necklace, with gold snap ; one French gold signet Ring, with amethyst and small diamonds, forming the letter ' M.;' two pairs of gold Ear- rings, one in shape of an acorn, one pendant with two balls ; one gold bead Necklet; one maltese gold Bracelet ; one small brass Time- piece ; two £ 10 and seven £ 5 Bank of England Notes ; and £ 2 in Gold.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, January 22. On the night of the 5tli instant the dwelling- house of William Walton, New Clee, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a pair of elastic- side boots, since recovered. By a man about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather slenderly built, fair complexion, small dark moustache, and no whiskers ; dressed in a dark blue cloth coat with velvet collar, black cloth trousers, high crowned hat, elastic- side boots with broad toes, and had other clothes in his possession; is a singer and dancer in public- houses. Information to be given to Superintendent Richdale, Grimsby, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Jan 17. Stolen by means of false keys between ( i and 8 p. m. on the 14th instant, from a dwelling- house in Rune^ m : a Cash Box containing about £- 10 in Gold, and £ 7 15s. G i. in Silver; also a silver lever Watch, cream- coloured dial, sunk seconds, engine- turned cases, nearly new. A short stout man, dressed in a short blue cloth jacket, and dark cloth cap with large fiat top, was seen near the door of the house about 7' 30 p. m., and is suspected ; he is supposed to be accompanied by a tall man dressed in a long dark fashionable overcoat and light brown billycock hat. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. Between 9 and 10 p. m. on the 14tli instant, some person or persons entered and set fire to some Straw and a loose Box, at Yarm, the property of William Bainbridge, Esq., whereby a valuable Mare was burnt and injured. Any person or persons giving such information as will lead to the apprehen- sion and conviction of the offender or offenders, will receive a reward of £ 50 from the owner. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, North Riding Constabulary, South Stockton, or to Sergeant Kitching, Police Office, Yarm, York- shire.— Bow- street, January 17. rubbed off thighs and near side ; a set of Harness, Swivel and Chain attached to traces ; a nearly new Trap, painted dark blue, wheel marks on upper side rail, crooked shafts. Stolen on the night of the 17tli or early on the morning of the 18th instant, from a stable at Terrington, Norfolk : an aged iron- grey Horse, about 14 hauds high, both knees broken, has been recently clipped, hair chafed eff sides; a bay Horse, 4 years old, about 15 hands high, star on forehead, rat tailed ; also a riding Saddle and Bridle, with driving Reins, and a plough Bridle, with brass on blinkers, the initials ' W. M.' engraved on brasses. Supposed bv a man, absut 24 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair and small whiskers and moustache, has a dissipated appearance ; dressed in light mixture coat, vest, and trousers, and leather leggings. Infor- mation to be. given to Superintendent Seaman, Norfolk Constabulary, Terrington, near King's Lynn.— Bow- street, January 19. Stolen during the night of the 15th instant, from a field in Sandbach, a dun and fawn- coloured Alderney Calf, 16 months old. Information to be given to Superintendent Rowbottom, Constabulary Station Middlewieh, Cheshire.— Bow- street January 17. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Leeds on the 16th instant, charged on a warrant with embezzment : SAMUEL EXLEY, commission agent, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light brown hair and whiskers, fair complexion, medium build, his left foot is about three sizes less than the right, and has a peculiar walk on that account, and stoops a little ; dressed in a light Scotch tweed suit, brown overcoat, and hard black billycock hat. Supposed he is about to leave the country. Information to be given to Superintendent Hunt, Central Police Office, Town Hall, Leeds, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, Jaiiuani 26. Description of GEORGE WOOD, charged with embezzle- ment at Canterbury : about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, full face, no whiskers or moustache ; usually dressed in a white slop and cap ; lately kept the ' Maid of Kent' public- house in the Black Friars, Canterbury. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Davies, Canterbury, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 26. Absconded from Chesham, Bucks, on the 19th instant, charged with stealing the sum of .£ 91 4s. 9d., the property of his master Mr. Charles Plato : JOHN HERLING, by trade a leather cutter, 40 years of age ( looks younger), 5 feet 8 inches high, brown hair, light brown whiskers, beard, and moustache, walks very erect, and of respectable appearance ; dressed when he absconded in dark brown coat, pockets at sides, grey tweed trousers and waistcoat, and black hard felt billycock hat. Property stolen included a cheque for £ 15 Is. 3d., backcd ' John Chubb, of Leighton,' be also took a red leather Pocket- book, containing orders. He has been to America, and it is likely he will again make for that country. £ 5 reward will be paid for his apprehension, and 10 per cent, on the amount of property recovered. On the night of the 21st instant, some person or persons broke into the stores of Messrs. Pearse, Richards, and Co., engineers and ironfounders, at Newport, and stole therefrom about 2 cwt. of brass Bearings, Valves, & c. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. Between 6 and 9 p. m. on the 21st instant, the dwelling- house of William Smith Ringer, grocer, of Tacker- street, in the borough of Ipswich, was " " skeleton keys, and stolen therein has ' J. R.' scratched on plate. Entrance was effected by means of false keys. £ 1 reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the oflender or offenders and recovery of the watch.
