POLICE GAZETTE. & K Stattattg. CONTAINING 1 The substance of all Informations received in eases of Felony and of Misdemeanors of an aggravated nature, and against Receivers of Stolen Goods, reputed Thieves, and Offenders escaped from Custody, with the time, the place, and the circumstance of the Offence. The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not hnoum, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. A Description, as accurate as possible, of Property that has been stolen, and a minute Description of Stolen Horses for the purpose of tracing and recovering them. No. 5062 WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28, 1871. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reforence to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. W. D. BUKNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. FORGERY. Description of a man remanded at Mistley, Essex, charged with forgery at Little Bromley, on the 19th instant: he at first refused his addiess, but ultimately gave the name of JOHN WEST, Liverpool Dock, labourer, which is supposed to be fictitious : he is 43 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, grey eyes, has had large bushy whiskers, which have beeu recently shaven off, has thin whiskers meeting under the chin remaining ; dressed iu black ribbed cloth coat and vest, cord trousers, low black felt hat, with an elastic hold- fast attached, and spring- side boots, with toe- caps. He had also in his possession a Yankee brown felt wide- a- wake; he is supposed to have committed offences elsewhere. Information to be given to Inspector Ackers, Police Station, Mistley, Essex.— Bow- street, June 23. Description of a man charged with uttering, on the 13th instant, a forged cheque for £ 15 10s., purporting to be drawn by Henry Green, upon the Old Bank, Oxford : he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, very sallow looking, dark wiry moustache, no whiskers; dressed in a suit of dark grey clothes, small black tie with cameo pin in it, aud low- crowned hat. He obtained the following articles of jewellery from a shop with the forged cheque : a bright gold albert curb Chain, graduated from the centre, and stamped ' 9 carata carbuncle and gold suite of shirt- front Studs, sleeve Solitaires, and collar Stud, all the stones oval, and fitted in morocco case, lined with purple velvet; and a flat uncoloured 18- carat gold signet Ring, cornelian stone, in plain mount, and slightly engraved on shoulders. Information to be given to Head Constable Kershaw, Town Hall, Southport, Lancashire.-— Bow- street, June 19. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in the borough of Rochdale, on the 24th instant : a silver skeleton lever Watch, No. 3906, maker James D. Moss, Liverpool, ' A. Brearley' engraved on the inside case. Information to be given to Chief Constable Stevens, Rochdale.— Bow- street, June 28. Description of WILLIAM HAMPSTON, of Ifton Common, in the parish of Ellesmere, Salop, charged with stealing on the night of the 16th instant, on the highway at Saint Martin's, from the person of Edward Davies, a silver Watch : he is 27 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, whiskers shaved off, light moustache, active appearance ; dressed in a dark brown cloth jacket and black billycock hat; a shoemaker by trade, and belongs to the Denbighshire Militia. The watch was sold by William Hampston in Wrexham, on the 17th instant, and has been recovered. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, County Constabulary Office, Oswestry, Shropshire.— Bow- st., June 23. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Further information respecting the robbery at Fulmer Hall, the residence of Lady Willoughby, on the night of the 13th advertised in the Police Gazette of the 16th instant : also'stolen, two bronze Figures on horses, about 12 inches Ion" and 12 inches high, one figure represents a Turk, the other an Arab, the plume of the head- dress of one of them is missing, and the horses are mounted on a flat black oblong stand. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Slough, or to Inspector Sutton, Iver, Bucks.— Bow- street, June 28. On the night of the 13th, or on the morning of the 14th instant, some person or persons did steal from the house of Agnes Eccles, of Broad Walk, Buxton, the following property : a lady's gold lever Watch, No. 13934, larger thai" iady's ordinary watches, black Guard ; a silver lever hunting Watch, Robert Roskell, Liverpool, No. 47413, albert stee; Chain attached ; a silver pencil Case, old- fashioned, a red stone at one end, and a piece of black lead pencil at the other: £ 30 in Bank of England Notes, four £ 5 aud a £ 10 ; £ 5 10s. in Gold ; about £ 1 in Silver ; and 2d. in Coppers. £ U reward will be paid on such information as will lead to the apprehension of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Hudson, Chapel- en- le- Frith ; or to Inspector Barson, Buxton, Derby.— Bow- street, June 26. During the night of the 19th or morning of the 20th instant, the dwelling house of Robert Roberts, of Chorlton, Cheshire, wTas entered by means of taking out a square of glass and unfastening the kitchen window, and the following property stolen therein : two Shirts, all linen, men's size, high collars, with two buttons on each collar, may be marked ' R. Roberts' with cotton ; two silk Handkerchiefs, one brown and orange, the other black with a white spot; a large Muffler, black and white plaid ; four pairs of black kid Gloves ; and a pair of blucher Boots, newly soled. A man who called the previous evening selling needles is suspected : he is supposed to be a shoemaker, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, full short face, dark hair, and small dark whiskers ; had on a brown or snuff- coloured jacket and dark cap. This man left behind him in a meadow the following articles, which are believed to be stolen: a pair of cord Trousers, coarse canvas pockets ; a blue check Shirt, narrow stripe ; a white cotton Skirt; a black cloth Yest, new, single- breasted, black covered buttons ; and a pair of lace- up Boots, uewly soled, without any nails, tips on heels. Information to be given to Superintendent Wilson, Tattenhall, near Chester, or to Sergeant Powell, Police Station, Malpas, " Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 26. During the night of the 20th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. James Weatherby, of Woking, was entered by the parlour window, which was left unfastened, and the following articles stolen therein : six Tea Spoons, Toast Rack, Sugar Spoon, Mustard Spoon, and a Stopper from a Cayenne Bottle, all silver, crest— hand and spear ; also a man's suit of tweed Clothes, the Coat and Waistcoat dark, and the Trousers light; and an alpaca Umbrella. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Barker, Surrey Constabulary, Guildford.— Bow- street, June 23. During the night of the 16th, or morning of the 17th inst., the dwelling- house of George Whitehurst, labourer, Astbury, Cheshire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen : a dark grey cloth Coat, with two pockets outside, and one inside left breast, and bone buttons, man's size, nearly new ; a grey calico Shirt, plaited front, with pearl buttons. Information to be given to Superintendent Rowbottom, Middlewich, or to Sergeant Gosling, Astbury, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 19. Stolen during the night of the 13th or early on the morning of the 14th instant, at Bronington, Flintshire, by means of housebreaking : an old faded black dress cut- away, Coat, with pockets in skirts behind and one in left breast, covered buttons ; also two Umbrellas. Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Superintendent Bolton, Hanmer, Whitchurch, Salop.— Bow- street, June 19. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Description of JOHN GRACE, of Lillingstone Dayrell, Bucks, charged on a warrant with stealing a Horse at Stowe on the 8th ultimo, the property of Langton Bennett: 25 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light hair, little or no whiskers, pockpitted ; dressed when he absconded iu a light cotton cord jacket aud trousers, black billycock hat, and lace- up shoes ; about 4 years ago he worked on the Midland Railway near London as a navvy, and it is supposed he will seek for similar employment on railway works. Information to be given to Inspector Andrews, Maidsmoreton, Buckingham, who holds the warrant.— Boio- street, June 26. Stolen from a field at Astbury, during the night of the 23rd, or morning of the 24th instant: a Ewe, with black face and legs, in good condition, the property of Mr. George Buckley, farmer. Information to be given to Superintendent Rowbottom, Middlewich, or to Sergeant Gosling, Police Station, Astbury, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 26. Stolen between the night of the 15th and morning of the 19th mstant, from Langbar Moor, in the township of Nesfield- with- Langbar, near Bolton- bridge : a chestnut horse Pony, aged, about 13J hands high, with long tail and mane turning grey, one of the hind fetlocks white, has a white spot and stripe on face, stands off ou both forelegs, and is in rather low condition, the property of Edward Birkinshaw, of Blackhill House, farmer. Information to be given to Superintendent Grisdale, West Riding Constabulary, Skipton.— Bow- street, June 21. Description of a man charged with stealing ten Pigs, with which he was entrusted to drive from Birmingham to Hurley, on the 15th instant, the property of Mr. George Wakefield, they have since been recovered : he is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, brown hair and eyes, no whiskers, long thin face, with several grub pimples, aud slender make ; dressed in hard black felt billycock hat, a light brown jacket, dark vest, cotton cord trousers, and strong lace- up boots ; he has the appearance of a tramping drover, and gives the names of SMITH and WALKER. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Aston, Birmingham. — Bm- street, June 21. Stolen from a field at Hall Royd, Silkstone, near Barns- ley, Yorkshire, on the night of the 16th instant : a dark brown cart Mare, 3 years old, about 15 hands high, white star on forehead, and a little white on one of the hind fetlocks, rather thick coat, and in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Sykes, West Riding Constabulary, Barnsley.— Bow- street, June 19. Description of AMOS LEE, charged with stealing a Horse at Wye on the night of the lst instant, which has since been recovered : 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, very dark complexion, black hair, whiskers shaved off; dressed in an old snuff- coloured coat torn out at button- holes, old shoes slit at sides ; he belongs to the gipsy tribe'' Information to be given to Superintendent Noakes, Kent Constabulary, Ashford.— Bo'o- street, June 19. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Southampton, charged with stealing some Oats and a quantity of Rope, from a vessel lying in the River Itcheu : JOHN WHITEWOOD, labourer, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, and sandy whiskers ; dressed in dark monkey jacket, cord trousers, very much patched, heavy lace- up boots, aud dark billycock hat; he is . accompanied by his wife and two children, she is 32 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, and pitted with small pox ; a boy, about 4 years of age ; and a child in arms. Information to be given to Superintendent Breary, Police Station, South- ampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 28. Stolen on the 26th instant, from No. 1, Stable Yard, St. James's Palace : twenty- four silver Table Spoons, shell pattern, crest— a Tudor rose, and crown with lion inside garter with royal motto.— Metropolitan Police, A Division, June 28. Absconded on the 24th instant, from No. 4, Hay's Place, Islington, embezzling £ 4 : a journeyman jeweller, 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, and light hair and moustache; dressed iu dark grey tweed suit, side- spriDg boots, and round felt hat. Has friends residing at No. 143, Grove Street, Camden Town.— Metropolitan Police, N Divi- sion, June 28. Description of WILLIAM SMITH, who absconded from Donnington Wood, Salop, on the night of the 15th inst., charged with stealing : a black double- breasted velveteen Waistcoat, black cloth buttons, and a white cotton Shirt, linen front, both men's size : he is a collier, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark hair, fawn- freckled about the eyes, and broken nose turned on the left cheek ; dressed in a black cloth jacket and waistcoat, black and white speckled trousers, elastic- side boots, have been topped, black soft billy- cock hat, and red and black plaid woollen shirt. Information to be given to Sergeant Austin, St. George's, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, June 28. Absconded from Eastbourne, Sussex, on the 19th instant charged on a warrant with embezzling the sum of 6s. 5^ d. the monies of Edgar Baker and Sons, his masters, at East- bourne, ou the 13th instant: GEORGE JEWHURST, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, sallow complexion dark hair, nearly bald on top of head, whiskers under chin' shaves at sides of face, proportionate figure, married, a journeyman baker ; dressed when he absconded in alpine hat and twill jacket. Information to be given to Superintendent Waghorn, Hailsham, Sussex ; or to the Sergeant on duty, Police Station, Eastbourne, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 28. Absconded on the 12th instant, charged on a Warrant with embezzlement: ALFRED BECK, late of Cheriton- villa, Northumberland- park, Tottenham, solicitor's clerk, from 36 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh com- plexion, puffy face, slightly pockpitted, black hair, whiskers, beard, and moustache, stout build, and of respectable appear ance ; dressed in dark frock coat, vest, and trousers. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, June 28. Absconded from London on the 23rd instant, charged with embezzlement: THOMAS W. EYENNETT, 28 years years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, eyes, and com- plexion, no whiskers or moustache, and has a quick, nervous manner ; dressed in black frock coat, dark silk waistcoat with flowers, dark mixture trousers, with stripe down the sides, and high black hat. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, No. 26, Old Jewry, E. C .— Bow- street, June 26. Further information and description of the man charged with stealing Wool, Sheep Dockings, at the parish of Leven, in the East Riding of the county of York, the property of Mr. James Bunton, farmer, on the night of the 6th instant and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 12th instant • THOMAS GARNER, alias BUFFALO BILL, about 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, small dark whiskers, and dark complexion ; dressed in cotton cord trousers, turned up at the bottoms, brown coat and vest, the coat has large outside pockets, black raddy hat, old strong boots, cut down the fronts to the toes; is a hawker of Pipes, Watch Chains, Rings, Combs, ,& c., winch he cargi^ m a basket. Has a Pedlar's Certificate, with the name of Thomas Garner, and not Buttle or Butler, as previously described, upon it; the certificate has been endorsed for the East Riding of Yorkshire. He is supposed to be a native of God- manchester, near Huntingdon. The other man in custody is named HENRY HARRIS, has been committed for 3 calendar months, for the oftence under the , Cf justice Act! a warrant has been granted for the apprehension of Thomas Garner. Information to be given to Superintendent Wright, Police Station, East Riding Constabulary, Leven.— Bow- street, June 26. Absconded from the borough of Godalming, on the 20th instant, charged with stealing a quantity of Lead, the property of Messrs. Gammon and Brothers: JAMES MORGAN, 27 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, small light whisKers, sturdy make, he has been in the habit of wearing small ear- rings in his ears, is troubled with abscess behind the right ear, and on left leg, between the knee and hip ; dressed in dark brown jacket, pockets at hips, trousers rather lighter, and black billycock hat. Infor- mation to be given to Head Constable High, Godalming, Surrey, who holds a warrant and will pay all reasonable expenses on his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 23. Absconded from Aldershot, on the 15th instant, charged with stealing three £ 10 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 87179, 87180, and 87181 : a Sergeant- Major of the 9th Lancers, 3? years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, and slightly bald on back part of head.— Metropolitan Police, Woolwich Dockyard Division, June 23. Absconded from Tunbridge Wells, on the 13th instant, charged with stealing three £ 5 Notes, a gold Watch, & c. : a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, no whiskers, of respectalle appearance, and has ljeen a gentleman's servant. Information t° be given at the Police Office, Tunbridge Wells, Kent— Bow- street, June 21. Stolen on the 16th instant, from a dwelling- house at Tunbridge Wells : three Sheets, two Blankets, a Counterpane, and two white Tablecloths, a portion of which has been recovered. By a man and woman who had been lodging in tjie house : the man is a tailor, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, thin face, dark hair, and a few dark wjiiskers; dressed in double- breasted black cloth coat, buttoned close all the way down, and light or grey trousers. The woman is about the same age, dark hair and eyes, and swarthy complexion ; dressed in brown dress, black cloth jacket, and very small dark bonnet; carried a female infant, about 5 months old, dressed in a white or light cotton pelisse, and dark hood trimmed with blue ribbon. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, June 21. Description of EDWARD PALMER, a sweep, charged with embezzling several small sums of Money : 18 years of age, 5 feet high, light complexion, and sharp nose ; dressed in white slop, dark waistcoat, with flannel back, cord trousers, cloth cap, with peak and bow in front ; he is a native of Wolverhampton, and is known to the Police there. His mother is now living on the canal side at Monmore Green, near' Wolverhampton. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glossop, Moor- street, Birmingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 21. Absconded on the 13th instant, from Christian- street, St. George's East, stealing ,£ 25 : a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, small whiskers, blue marks on arms and hand ; dressed in black coat, dark plaid vest, black and white striped trousers, side- spring boots, red and white striped socks, two shirts, one magenta, one flannel, and billycock hat; had with him two watches, one gold, minute hand broken off, one silver, with steel Chain attached.— Metropolitan Police, H Division, June 19. Absconded from the borough of Ipswich, on the 14th instant, charged with stealing £ 5 in Money, the property of Mr. William Bennett, grocer, his master ; also with embez- zling various sums of Money : GEORGE FREDERICK RICHARDSON, a grocer's assistant, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sallow complexion, dark bushy hair, small dark whiskers and moustache, of slender build, walks erect, and turns out his toes ; dressed in a dark mixed cloth suit, coloured flannel shirt, spring side boots, and low crown hat. Had with him a pair of Bedford cord trousers, a double- breasted black cloth coat and a pair of canvas shoes, and a silver English f- plate, open face lever watch, maker F. Pickford, No. 53, Butter Market, Ipswich, No. 9823. He is a native of Tunbridge Wells, ancl has lived at Reigate, Folkstone, and Epsom. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Town Hall, Ipswich, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 19. Absconded from Chinnor, Oxon, on the 9th instant, charged with larceny: NATHANIEL SAUNDERS, a blacksmith, about 60 years of age, 5 feet 7| or 8 inches high, fair complexion, grey hair, full grey eyes, full face, stout build, a little splay- footed, and walks lightly with a shuffling gait : dressed in a long brown cloth coat, brown vest, cord trousers, thin Wellington or elastic- side boots, and sometimes a cap ; has a beaver hat with large crown, and probably a suit of black clothes, also his shoeing box, which he took with him. Has a brother living at Chesham, Bucks, and a son in the neighbourhood of Rickmansworth. Information to be given to Superintendent Seers, Police Station, Watlington, or to Police Constable ( No. 29) Champ, Chinnor, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. - Bow- street, June 19. Description of CHARLES WELLS, late of Portslade, Sussex, charged with embezzlement, he absconded on the 8th ultimo : he is supposed to be well known at Bromley, Kent, Bratty Hall, Burton- on- Trent, Sutton Cold Fields, Warwick- shire, and Birmingham, he frequents races, and is known to jockeys and stablemen, he had worked at Brighton and Portslade for about 6 months before he absconded, as a baker; he is 37 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, grey eyes, rather near sighted, brown hair, cut short, whiskers shaved off, rather stout, aud broad shoulders ; dressed when last seen in an old grey tweed coat, black cloth trousers, hard felt low hat, and old half boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Superintendent Baldwin, Preston, near Brighton, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 19. Description of a man charged with stealing a Coat ( since recovered), the property of Robert Acastel, at Luddington, on the 15th instant : about 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 ins. high, light complexion and hair, small whiskers on chin and slight moustache ; had in his possession a blue pilot cloth Top Coat, braided round the edges in front, red and black plaia lining, scorched near the collar, two outside pockets with laps, and one inside with button over it; dressed in black cloth coat and trousers, striped vest, fur cap with strings tied over the top, $ nd white neckerchief statd fte had travelled with sljow^ s .^ ft jfairs, and that he was going into the west country, haymaMng. Description of WILLIAM COURT, a navvy, charged with committing an indecent assault on Selina Harris, about 2 o'clock on the morning of the ,9th instant, at the parish of Bettws, near Newport, Monmouth : he is about 50 years of age, ,6 jfeet high, hair and whiskers . turning grey, burned from elbow to wrist, and scai from burn on left cheek, caused by an accident when blasting stone in a quarry ; dressed in cord vest, with white pearl buttons, cord trousers, cloth cap, very good boots, white shirt, sleeves generally turned up, and white slop, tied across his shoulders; he is a native of Bridg- water, Somerset. Information to be given at the Chief Con- stable's Office, Usk ; to Superintendent Mcintosh, Pontypool; or to Inspector Sheppard, County Constabulary, Newport, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- st., Jij, ne 23. Absconded from Frampton Cotterall, Gloucestershire, sometime since the 6th instant, charged with feloniously and maliciously damaging an engine, the property of the Framp- ton Cotterall Iron Mine Company, to the extent of £ 500: SAMUEL SMITH, an engineer, about 42 years of age, 5 feet 8' inches high, light complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, Roman nose, long visage, rather thin made, and small light whiskers ; dressed in dark suit, and bowler hat; sup- posed to be gone either to the North of England or South Wales, and most likely will seek employment at some iron or coal works. Information to be given to Superintendent Ellison, Constabulary Office, Chipping Sodbury, or to Police iConstable Harris, Iron Acton, Gloucestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 19. Inge, the sum of £ 3 : one about 25 years of age, 5 ft. 7 or 8 in. high, slender build, fresh complexion, no | whiSkers, black moustache ( supposed false); dressed in a dark jacket and vest, light coloured trousers, deerstalker hat; the ather about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, round features, sandy hair and whiskers, no moustache ; dressed in a, dark jacket, light- coloured trousers, and deerstalker hat; both are of gentlemanly appearance : one stated he was a son of the late Mr. Fisher, of Kettlebrook, the other said he was Mr. Hill, of Silver- st., Tamworth, and they were endeavouring ( to raise the sum of .£ 25 to enable them to have an orphan child admitted into the Blind Asylum at Birmingham, the { whole of which is false. JOHN DELL, 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair, whiskers inclined to be sandy, meeting under chin, hazel eyes, and fair complexion, by trade a sweep ; states he is a native of Heath- row, Middlesex, and has been working for a Mr. Davis, master sweep at Windsor, whose service he left in the early part of last month. In his possession was found a pledge Ticket for a suit of clothes, pledged on the 17th inst., at George Radnor's, 39, Thomes street, Windsor; also a pledge Ticket, for a silver Watch, pledged on the 18th May last, at N. RICHARD WOODHALL, 50 years of age, 5 feet ins. high, grey eyes, fresh complexion, black and grey hair mixed, bald head, slightly pockmarked, flesh mark between the eyes, ' W.' on left forearm, some blue spots on left arm, and a large Bear behind left hand. It is strongly suspected that these men have been previously convicted, and may be wanted for similar offences in other places. Description of Mr. HANDFORD, missing from his home, Salisbury, Wilts, since the morning of the 21st instant, but was seen on the afternoon of the same day on the Stockbridge race- course : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, pale complexion, rather small grey eyes, dark brown hair cut short, small dark whiskers, and shaved under chin; dressed in a light mixture topcoat, fly front, maker ' David Stevens, Silver- street, Salisbury,' inside collar, dark tweed coat with pockets on hips underneath, white waistcoat, white linen shirt with gold star studs iu front, light cloth trousers with dark stripe at sides, lace- up or button boots with broad toes, and hard black bowler hat with wide brim; he carried in his waistcoat pocket a gold open- face lever Watch, No. 6957, maker ' Thompson, King- street, Bloomsbury,' with a large gold open curb albert chain, in the centre of which is a free- mason's Past Master's miniature jewel. JOSEPH REED, seaman, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, brown eyes, dark complexion, dark brown hair, belongs to the ship ' Mary Jones,' from Liverpool to Middlesborough, has a flesh mark under left eye, bridge of nose, and on right eyebrow, a blue spot on left forearm, of imperfect education, and a native of Liverpool. GEORGE LAWRENCE, a seaman, on board the same vessel as Reed, 23 years of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, brown eyes, dark complexion, dark brown hair, a bracelet and star on right wrist, half moon behind right hand, a tree, cottage, and vessel ( intending to represent the happy return), and a star on left forearm, a bracelet on left wrist, of no education, and a native of Leamington, Warwickshire. Further description of GEORGE JONES, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 31st ultimo : his right name is supposed to be GEORGE FRANCE or FRANCIS, has a cut on left eyebrow, large veins on calf of left leg, ' D' on left side, and was seen at Wrexham about a fortnight ago, wearing a pair of militia boots ; he was accompanied by his wife and son, who is about 12 years of age, blind of one eye, and deeply pockmarked. Description of JAMES MURRAY, who was, on the 17th instant, committed to Warwick Gaol for 3 months under the Vagrant Act, for endeavouring to obtain money from various shopkeepers by falsely representing himself to be the agent of Bell's Circus, which he said would arrive in Tamworth on the following Monday : 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches bigh, stout build, fresh complexion, hair turning grey, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in a dark jacket, green plaid vest, dark trousers, and box hat with black cloth band ; states that he is a hawker of cloth, and has no settled place of abode. Description of a man giving the name of JOHN SMITH, in custody at Chipping Sodbury, and remanded until the 26th instant, charged with stealing, on the 19tli May, 1868, a pair of silver Sugar Tongs; when being conveyed to the Police Station, handcuffed to another man, charged with the same offence, both made their escape ; Smith was re- appre- hended on the 17th instant, on his discharge from Hereford County Prison, where he had been confined for six weeks under the Vagrant Act: he is 33 years of age, 5 feet inch high, thick- set, brown hair, brown whiskers meeting under the chin, hazel eyes, fresh complexion; dressed in black bowler hat, grey tweed coat and vest, and light striped trousers ; states he was brought up in London, has lived at Whitechapel, Edgeware- road, and Paddington, and travelled most parts of England, South Wales, and Ireland, attending races, fairs, & c. The other man who escaped with him is now in Hereford County Prison awaiting his trial at the next quarter sessions for larceny from the person ; he gives his name THOMAS MOORE. Missing since the 16th inst., Mr. GEORGE HAWKINS, farmer, of Huish Champflower, Somerset : he is 67 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, ruddy complexion, blue eyes, brown hair much mixed with grey, small whiskers, shaved under the chin ; dressed in dark cloth jacket and waistcoat with blue specks, dark drab ribbed worsted breeches, patent yellow leather leggings with black patent leather round the bottoms, low- crowned felt hat, and lace- up boots without nails. Found in liis possession, and supposed to have been stolen, a mauve woollen Shirt, with black and yellow stripe, been repaired at one of the laps, boy's size, and about half worn.
