Stolen from a gentleman on the 12th instant, whilst at Ashbury Railway Station, near Manchester: a gold, lever Watch, maker J. H. Hayes, Oldham, No. 9100, jewelled full with rubies, expansion balance, white dial, and small seconds hand. £ 5 reward will be paid to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the watch. Stolen about 10 p. m. on the 10th instant, at Dursley Cross, in the parish of Longhope, from the person of Robert Smith: an old- fashioned pait'- caSe silver Watch, No. 1713, maker Edward Green, London; also £ 1 16s.: lO^ d. in Silver and Copper Monies. Supposed by two tramps of the following description : one a tall man, light hair and whiskers, meeting under the chin; dressed in black - cap, old dark coat, and corduroy trousers : the other shorter, dark hair, little or no whiskers,, slight moustache ; dressed in low- crowned black hat, dark coat., old light cloth trousers, torn at the knee. During the night of the 20tli instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. James Weatherby, of Woking, wTas entered by the parlour window, which was 16ft unfastened, and the following articles stolen therein : six Tea Spoons, Toast Back, Sugar Spoon, Mustard Spoon, and a Stopper from a Cayenne Bottle, all silver, crest— hand and spear ; also a man's suit of tweed I Clothes, the Coat and Waistcoat dark, and the Trousers light; ! and an alpaca Umbrella. Description of a man remanded at Mistley, Essex, charged been recently shaven off, has thin whiskers meeting under the chin remaining ; dressed in hlack ribbed cloth coat and vest, cord trousers, low black felt hat, with an elastic hold- fast attached, and spring- side boots, with toe- caps. He had also in his possession a Yankee brown felt wide- a- wake; he is supposed to have committed offences elsewhere. He obtained the following1 Between 12 noon and 2 p. m. on the 13th instant, the articles of jewellery from a shop with the forged cheque : a1 dwelling- house of Thos. Sumner, of Baddiley, near Nantwich, condition, the property of Edward Birkinshaw, of Blackhill House, farmer. Information to be given to Superintendent Grisdale, West Riding Constabulary, Skipton.— Bow- street, June 21. Description of a man charged with stealing ten Pigs, with which he was entrusted to drive from Birmingham to Hurley, on the 15th instant, the property of Mr. George Wakefield, they have since been recovered : he is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, brown hair and eyes, no whiskers, long thin face, with several grub pimples, and slender make ; dressed in hard black felt billycock hat, a light brown jacket, dark vest, cotton cord trousers, and strong laceup boots ; he has the appearance of a tramping drover, and gives the names of SMITH and WALKER. Stolen from a field at Hall Royd, Silkstone, near Barnsley, Yorkshire, on the night of the 16th instant : a dark brown cart Mare, 3 years old, about 15 hands high, white star on forehead, and a little white on one of the hind fetlocks, rather thick coat, and in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Sykes, West Riding Constabulary, Barnsley.— Bow- street, June 19. Description of AMOS LEE, charged with stealing a Horse at Wye on the night of the lst instant, which has since been recovered : 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, very dark complexion, black hair, whiskers shaved off; dressed in an old snuff- coloured coat torn out at buttonholes, o'd shoes slit at sides ; he belongs to the gipsy tribe. Information to be given to Superintendent Noakes, Kent Constabulary, Ashford.— Bow- street, June 19. Stolen from the Common, Molland, Devon, about 3 weeks since, five hog Wether Sheep, marked ' J . E.' on off and ' E.' on near side, top cut in near, and a split in off ear, the property of Mr. . John Elworthy, Gert Farm, Molland. Also ste ftheep, marked ' J . C.' on near side, top cut in near, and a split in ofi' ear, the property of Mr. J ohn Cole, Bommertown Farm, Molland. Information to be given to Superintendent Wood, Devon Constabulary, South Molton.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen from an orchard at Hornmouth, on the night of the 7th instant, a dark mare Donkey, about 7 years old, blind right eye, which looks white, no shoes on, turns off hind leg and out. is in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Morgan, Kent brook.—• Bow- street, June 14. County Constabulary, Cranbright gold albert curb Chain, graduated from the centre, and stamped ' 9 carat;' a carbuncle and gold suite of shirtfront Studs, sleeve Solitaires, and collar Stud, all the stones oval, and fitted in morocco case, lined with purple velvet;! was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a dark grey tweed shooting Coat, two pockets outside and one inside left breast, minus the middle button in front ; a single- breasted Waistcoat and Trousers of the same material. Information 18- carat gold signet Ring, cornelian i to be given to Superintendent Laxton, County Police, Nant- " - - - wich, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 16. and a flat uncoloured stone, in plain mount, and slightly engraved on shoulders. Information to be given to Head Constable Kershaw, Town Hall, Southport, Lancashire.- Bow- street, June 19. The man H. LEGARD, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 12th instant, charged with forgery at Reading on the 25th ultimo, has been apprehended and charged with committing similar offences in the city of London in the names of SIMPSON, MAY, and other aliases; he was brought up at the Guildhall, London, on the 14th instant, and remanded for one week.— Bow- street, June 16. Description of WILLIAM ALFRED ROBERTS, charged under warrant with having uttered a forged cheque for £ 62 lis., purporting to be drawn by Mr. Thomas Turner upon the Old Bank, Oxford : about 23 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark hair, moustache, and imperial, stiff build, scar under left eye ; dressed when last seen in melton coat and vest, dark striped trousers, and low- crowned hat; has been in America, is a native of Shipston- on- Stour, and was last seen in company with his brother, who until recently carried on business as a draper in Bewdley, Cradley, and Brierley Hill. £ 5 reward will be paid for such information as shall lead to his apprehension, on application to the Head Constable, City Police, Worcester.— Bow- street, June 14. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Description of WILLIAM HAMPSTON, of Ifton Common, in the parish of Ellesmere, Salop, charged with stealing on the night of the 16th instant, on the highway at Saint Martin's, from the person of Edward Davies, a silver Watch : he is 27 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, whiskers shaved off, light moustache, active appearance ; dressed in a dark brown cloth jacket and black billycock hat; a shoemaker by trade, and belongs to the Denbighshire Militia. The watch was sold by William Hampston in Wrexham, on the 17th instant, and has been recovered. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, County Constabulary Office, Oswestry, Shropshire.— Bow- st., June 23. Sometime during the night of the 12th or morning of the 13th instant, the dwelling- house of Benjamin Moffat, of Audlem, near Nantwich, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein : a man's blue pilot Overcoat, bound with braid, and dark buttons; a pair of light knit worsted Stockings ; a white calico Shirt; eight Eggs ; about 2 lbs. of Beef ; and a pair of blucher Boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Laxton, County Police, Nantwich, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 16. Between 6 p. m. and 8 p. m. on the 11th instant, the dwelling- house of a gentleman in Bowden was broken and entered, and an old- fashioned gold lever Watch with gold dial, makers T. & J . Oliphant, No. 7967, stolen therein. Information to be given to Superintendent Steen, Police Station, Altrincham, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 14. Between 11 p. m. on the 10th, and 6 a. m. on the 11th instant, the dwelling- house of the Rev. J . Overton, of ssoy, near Thirsk, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a loaf of white Bread ; a loaf of brown Bread ; about 4 lbs. of boiled Bacon ; part of a calf's Head, boiled ; about 20 Cheese Cakes ; part of a spice Loaf ; about 2 lbs. of Cheese; a flat cream Cheese ; a silver tea Spoon, marked ' O.;' a linen table Cloth ; a linen tea Cloth, marked ' 12 J . Overton' in ink; a small cutty Pipe, amber mouth piece; two bottles of currant Wine, in champagne Bottles. Supposed to be the same man who escaped from Knaresborough Lock- up on the morning of the 8th instant, and is well known in North and East Riding of Yorkshire. Absconded from the borough of Godalming, on the 20th instant, charged with stealing a quantity of Lead, the property of Messrs. Gammon and Brothers: JAMES MORGAN, 27 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, small light whiskers, sturdy make, he has been in the habit of wearing small ear- rings in his ears, is troubled with abscess behind the right ear, and on left leg, between the knee and hip ; dressed in dark brown jacket, pockets at hips, trousers rather lighter, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Hgad Constable High, Godalming, Surrey, who holds a warrant and will pay all reasonable expenses on his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 23. Absconded from Aldershot, on the 15th instant, charged with stealing three £ 10 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 87179, 87180, and 87181 : a Sergeant- Major of the 9th Lancers, 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, and slightly bald on back part of head.— Metropolitan Police, Woolwich Dockyard Division, June 23. Absconded from Tunbridge Wells, on the 13th instant, charged with stealing three £ 5 Notes, a gold Watch, & c. : a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, • ight hair, no whiskers, of respectable appearance, and has been a gentleman's servant. Information to be given at the Police Office, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, June 21. Stolen on the 16th instant, from a dwelling- house at Tunbridge Wells : three Sheets, two Blankets, a Counterpane, and two white Tablecloths, a portion of which has been recovered. By a man and woman who had been lodging in the house : the man is a tailor, about 26 years of age, 5 feet or 5 inches high, thin face, dark hair, and a few dark whiskers; dressed in double- breasted black cloth coat, buttoned close all the way down, and light or grey trousers. The woman is about the same age, dark hair and eyes, and swarthy complexion ; dressed in brown dress, black cloth jacket, and very small dark bonnet; carried a female infant, about 5 months old, dressed in a white or light cotton pelisse, and dark hood trimmed with blue ribbon. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, June 21. Absconded on the 17th instant, from the parish of Westbromwich, in the county of Stafford, charged with stealing various property belonging to William John Nevill° FREDERICK LAYLEY, a draper's assistant, about 37 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, rather short- sighted, brown hair, approaching to sandy, and sandy whiskers. He is accompanied by a female, 37 years of age, 5 feet 4J inches high, rather long features, brown soft hair, has a mole on right cheek under the eye, and wears elastic stockings in consequence of swollen legs ; dressed in black silk dress white or green bonnet, black veil, and velvet jacket. Birmingham,* holhok^ a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June, 21. Absconded on the 13th instant, from Christian- street, St. George's East, stealing £ 25 : a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, small whiskers, blue marks on arms and hand ; dressed in black coat, dark plaid vest, black and white- striped trousers, side- spring boots, red and white striped socks, two shirts, one magenta, one flannel, and billycock hat; had with him two watches, one gold, minute hand broken off, one silver, with steel Chain attached.—• Metropolitan Police, H Division, June 19. Absconded from the borough of Ipswich, on the 14th instant, charged with stealing £ 5 in Money, the property of Mr. William Bennett, grocer, his master; also with embezzling various sums of Money : GEORGE FREDERICK RICHARDSON, a groeer's assistant, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sallow complexion, dark bushy hair, small dark - whiskers and moustache, of slender build, walks erect, and turns out liis toes ; dressed in a dark mixed cloth suit, coloured flannel shirt, spring side boots, and low crown hat. Had with him a pair of Bedford cord trousers, a doublebreasted black cloth coat and a pair of canvas shoes, and a silver English j- plate; open face lever watch, maker E. Pickford, No. 53, Butter Market, Ipswich, No. 9823. He is a native of Tunbridge Wells, and has lived at Beigate, Folkstone, and Epsom. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Town Hall, Ipswich, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,—- Bow- street, June 19. Absconded from Chinnor, Oxon, on the 9th instant, charged with larceny: NATHANIEL SAUNDERS, a blacksmith, about 60 years of age, 5 feet 7i or 8 inches high, fair complexion, grey hair, full grey eyes, full face, stout build, a little splay- footed, and walks lightly with a shuffling gait, • dressed in a long brown cloth coat, brown vest, cord troutters, thin Wellington or elastic- side boots, and sometimes a. cap ; has a beaver hat with large crown, and probably a suit of black clothes, also his shoeing box, which he took with him. Has a brother living at Chesham, Bucks, and a son in the neighbourhood of Rickmansworth. Information to be given to Superintendent Seers, Police Station, Watlington, or to Poliee Constable ( No. 29) Champ, Chinnor, who holds a . warrant for his apprehension. Bow- street, June 19. Description of CHARLES WELLS, late of Portslade, Sussex, charged with embezzlement, he absconded on the 8th ultimo : - he is supposed to be wall known at Bromley, Kent, Bratty Hall, Burton- on- Trent, Sutton Cold Fields, Warwickshire, and Birmingham, he frequents races, and is known to jockeys and stablemen, he had worked at Brighton and Portslade for about 6 months before he absconded, as a baker; he is 37 years of age,- 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, grey eyes, rather near - sighted, brown hair, cut short, whiskers shaved off, rather stoat; and broad shoulders ; dressed when last seen in an old grey tweed coat, black cloth trousers, hard j felt low hat, and old half boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Superintendent Baldwin, Preston, near Brighton, Sussex, who holds a warrant for liis apprehension.— Bow- street, June 19. Description of a man charged with stealing a Coat ( since recovered), the property of Robert Acastel, at Luddington, on the 15th instant : about 21 - years' of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 ins. high, light complexion and hail', small whiskers on chin and slight moustache ; had in his possession a blue pilot cloth Top ' Coat, braided round the edges in front, red and black plaid lining, scorched near the collar, two outside pockets with laps, and one inside with button over i t ; dressed in black cloth coat and trousers, striped vest, fur cap with strings tied over the top, and white neckerchief ; stated lie had travelled with - shows at fairs, and that he was going into the west country, haymaking. Absconded on the 8th instant, charged with stealing £ 5, the monies of " his master : HENRY HUNTER, a clerk, date of 15, Great Essex- street, Kingsland- road, 21 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, very slender, brown hair, sallow complexion, prominent nose, long thin face, no beard, and of respectable appearance. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey,. City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, London, E; C.— Bow- street, June 16. Stolen during the night of the 13th instant, from an open shed in the parish of Fulmer, Bucks, the following carpenter's Tools : a Hand Saw, marked ' P. Nicholson' on handle ; a Tenon Saw, 14inches long, brass back, ' P. Nicholson' stamped on brass ; a 2- foot Rule, without slide ; a f- incli Chisel, and a large carpenter's Tool Basket, lined with coarse canvas and bound. Also, during the night of the 13th inst., Fuhaer Hall, the residence of Lady Willoughby, was entered through the dining- room window, and stolen therein : a small Knife and Pork, with silver handles, very old and much worn ; and a few white- handled Knives. By a man of the following description, who was traced through Iver, going in the direction of London, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or < 3 inches high, and tuft of hair on chin ; dressed in a soft black billycock hat, dark coat, and light trousers, dark stripe down side of legs, and much worn at bottoms. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Slough, or to Inspector Sutton, Iver, Bucks.— Bow- street, June 16. Description of JOSEPH or HENRY HARRIS, a Polish Jew, charged with stealing at Salford, Lancashire, between the 1st and 9th instant: four silver lever Watches, 16 size, Nos. 1577, 17349, 8350, 8175 ; a ditto, silver dial, 1,8 sjze, No. 28786; an old silver lever ditto, No. 497; a Germap silver ditto, No. 3303 ; a silver verge ditto, 14 size, No. 4045; an old German ditto, 16 size ; a gentleman's silver finger Ring; two gold wedding Rings, stamped ' 22 carat ;' five, gentlemen's gold finger Rings, stamped ' 9 carat ;' a lady's three silver albert ditto,, one of which is- curb pattern; and three gold ditto, stamped ' 9 carat,' one of which is snake pattern; the property of his master : he is 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, short sighted, walks in a stooping position, light hair, inclined to curl ; dressed in a grey coat,'. grey vest, arpair. of . yellowish mixture striped trousers, and black billycock hat. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Description of two men who called at Thorpe Hall, Tamwortli, on the 8th inst., and obtained by false pretences, from the Rev. Geo. Inge, the sum of £ 3 : one about 25 years of age, 5 ft. 7 or 8 in. high, slender build, fresh complexion, no whiskers, black moustache ( supposed false); dressed in a dark jacket and vest, light coloured trousers, deerstalker hat; the other about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, round features, sandy hair and whiskers, no moustache ; dressed in a dark jacket, light- coloured trousers, and deerstalker hat; both are of gentlemanly appearance : one stated he was a son of the late Mr. Fisher, of Kettlebrook, the other said he was Mr, Hill, of Silver- st., Tamworth, and they were endeavouring to raise the § um of £ 25 to enable them to have an orphan child admitted into the Blind Asylum at Birmingham, the whole of which is false. Further description of GEORGE JONES, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 31st ultimo : his right name is supposed to be GEORGE FRANCE or FRANCIS, has a cut on left eyebrow, large veins on calf of left leg, ' D ' on left side, and was seen at Wrexham about a fortnight ago, wearing a pair of militia boots ; he was accompanied by his wife and son, who is about 12 years of age, blind of one eye, and deeply pockmarked. Although £ 3 reward is offered for the apprehension of Deserters at the time, £ 2 only is payable at the expiration of 3 months, and £ 1 only at the expiration of 6 months from the date of desertion, and after the expiration of a complete year, no reward will be paid, except under special circumstances.
