The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without hit authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Absconded, charged with seriously assaulting the now deceased Robert Williamson, near Bellsquarry, between the Ilth and 12th instant: THOMAS HALEY, miner, whose real name is KENNEDY, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, brown hair and whiskers, sharp nose, hazel eyes, walks very erect; dressed in a black cloth shooting coat, vest, and trousers, and black cloth cap ; is a native of Clare, Ireland, has a relative residing at Walgate Forth- street, Wigan, and sisters there also, and generally goes under the name of LANCASHIRE TOM. When in England he occasionally works on brick- fields, is well known at Durham and Newcastle. Information to be gvien to the Procurator- Fiscal, Sheriff Court Buildings, or to the Chief Constable of the county, County Rooms, Edinburgh, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 27. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Weedon Railway Station, on the 30th ultimo : a gold Watch, white face, plain back, very much worn, of a peculiar flat construction, ' E. Howe' scratched on the inside of case. Information to be given to Superintendent Bailie, Weedon, Northamptonshire. — Bow street, April 5. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, on the highway at Sharpies, near Bolton, about 8T5 p. m. on the 31st ultimo : a gold hunting Watch, 18- carat gold, cream- coloured dial, marked ' Half Chronometer,' No. 2270/ maker Lyon, Man- chester ; had attached a strong Albert Chain, each link marked as being 18- carat gold ; a small gold Key, with stone on swivel in centre, colours dark green and light pink ; green malachite Key, in the form of a pistol with horseshoe at the end ; a small gold Compass; a spade ace Guinea and a half ditto ; a plain gold Locket, with monogram ' IHS' in blue enamel letters ; and a gold 5- franc Piece. Information to be given at the Superintendent's Office, Town Hall, Little Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, April 3. Stolen from the person in Shrewsbury, on the 21st inst. a gold Geneva horizontal Watch, gold dial, Nc. 15988, engine- turned case, with gold curb Chain, three gold Seals attached, one with red cornelian stone, engraved ' W.' i. 11 Old English, one with white cornelian stone, engraved ' S. B.' in Old English, the other with anchor, and a gold Key attached, £ 1 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Borough Police Office, Shrewsbury.— Bow- street, March 27. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 2nd instant, the Abbey National School, St. Alban's, was broken and entered, and 24s. in Coppers, Is. in Silver, a 4d. Piece, a 3d. Piece, and a small Key, stolen therein. Information to be given to Head Con stable Pike, St. Alban's, Herts.— Bow- street, April 5. A house in the parish of Gnosall, near Stafford, broken into, on the 27th instant, between 9 a. m. and 5 p m. and the following property stolen : a silver Watch, No. 48918, maker Whisten, Newport; a brown overcoat; a black and white plaid Shawl; a white Vest; a brown ditto ; a pair of dark brown Trousers ; a drab ditto ; a black mixture Jacket, two pockets outside, and one inside ; a white calico Shirt, with linen front ; a p; iir of Boots, very much worn ; and a cork Hat, nearly new, all men's size; and a woman's night Dress. Supposed by a tramp, about 5 feet 10 inches high, and who inquired the road to Wolverhampton and Birming- ham, and went in that direction about 2 p. m. the same day. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Disney, Forebridge, Stafford, or to P. C. Phillips, Gnosall, Stafford.— Bow- street, March 29. " T" During the night of the 24th instant, a dwelling- house it Maidenhead was broken and entered and stolen therein : ibout 40s. worth of Chinese Money, some the size of 5s. pieces ind some smaller with holes in them : two gold Studs ; a rold albert Chain, chain pattern ; two gold pencil Cases : P vlicroscope ; a small gold Ring ; a mahogany writing Desk : .1 small cash Box ; and a quantity of Postage Stamps. In ' ormation to be given to Superintendent Macgraw, Borough Police, Maidenhead.— Bow- street, March 29. On the night of the 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of he Rev. H. C. Leonard, at Marlows- road, Hemel Hempstead, flerts, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein : 2 Indian silver Bracelets. 1 old gold Watch. 1 long gold Chain. 1 gold Albert Chain, with cairngorm stone. 1 gold Brooch, with photograph of the late F. Leonard. 1 ditto, with painted cherub. 1 silver ditto, with cairngorm stone. 1 Coffeepot, 1 Cream Jug, 1 Sugar Basin, and 1 Salver, all silver, and marked ' C. W.' 2 pairs of Sugar Tongs, silver, andmarked ' H. S. L.' II silver Salt Spoons. 3 Butter Knives. 3 lares Forks and 3 small ditto, silver, and marked ' H. S. L.' 18 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' H. S. L.' and ' H.' 2 silver Mustard Spoons. 15 silver Table Spoons, marked ' C. W.' and ' 6 silver Egg Spoons. 1 silver Tankard, holds nearly a pint. 1 silver Medal, ' M. Rowles.' By two men : one about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, small dark whiskers and tuft on chin, rather stout build, and full face ; dressed in a long dark coat, dark speckled trousers, and soft black billycock hat : the other about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, rather white face, long features, small light moustache, no whiskers ; dressed in a long brown coat, dark trousers, and soft black billycock hat turned up at the sides. They were traced to the Watford Station of the London and North Western Rail- way, where they were seen on the morning of the 24tli ult., and they are supposed to have returned to London by the .30 a. m. train. A reward of £ 20 will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to their apprehension and conviction and recovery of the stolen property, or in pro portion to the amout recovered. Information to be given to Inspector Bourne, Police Station, Hemel Hempstead, Herts. - Bow- street, March 27. During the night of the 24th instant, the dwelling- house of the Rev. T. B. Wilkinson, at East Harling, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : Silver. 42 Spoons, twelve Table, twelve Dessert, nine Tea, one Gravy, four Salt, four Egg. I Salad Fork and Spoon. 5 Ladles, one Soup, four Sauce. 1 Fish Slice. 24 Forks, twelve large, twelve small. 1 Butter Knife. 1 Teapot. Plated. • 6 Fish Knives. 4 Dessert Knives and Forks. 6 Soup Spoons. All marked with monogram. Supposed by a man, about 21 years of age, about 5 feet 6 ins. high, slight built, rather full face, small whiskers, blind of one eye ( supposed the right), the other blue, and small pimples on face. Information to be given to Superintendent Jones, East Harling, Norfolk.— Bow- street, March 27. Between 10 a. m. and 12 noon 011 the 19th instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs Arthur, in the hamlet of Clytha, was broken into and a single- case silver Geneva Watch, marked J. J. F.,' No. 24727, black silk Guard with a glass Heart and Key attached, stolen. Supposed by a tramping tailor, from 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair and complexion; dressed in a brown cloth coat, cross plaid trousers, black bowler hat, and old elastic- side boots, much worn. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Usk, or to Superintendent Freeman, Abergavenny.—• Bow- street, March 27. Essex : a dark brown mare Pony, 6 years old, 13 hands high, long mane and tail, near hind foot white, with very small head ; also at the same time and place a light Cart, painted light green; and a set of brass mounted Harness, nearly aew, except the bridle and crupper. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, Police Station, Epping, or to Inspector Robinson, Police Station, Chipping Ongar, Essex. — Bow- street, April 5. Stolen on the night of the 31st ultimo, a black mare Pony, aged, 12 hands high, branded on the off side of neck with the letters ' G. R.', and tail cut short, the property of Mr. James S. Bourn, Stounton Hall, Kinver, near Stour- bridge, Staffordshire. Information to be given to Sergeant Baldwin, Police Station, Kinver, near Stourbridge, Stafford- shire.— Bow- street, April 5. Stolen on the night of the 28th ultimo, from a barn in the parish of Fawler, two fat ewe teg Sheep, half- bred, shorn, and marked ' J. G.' on the hip with pitch, the property of John Gillett. Information to be given to Police Constable Baker, Charlbury, or to Superintendent Lakin, Chipping Norton, Oxon.— Bow- street, April 3. Supposed stolen during the nig„. of the 31st ultimo, from a field at Theydon Hall, in the parish of Theydon Bois, the property of Mr. Robert Pallett, a bay Cob, aged, about 12 hands high, short thick mane and tail, small scar on bend of near thigh, and nearly blind of the off eye. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, Police Station, Epping, Essex.— Bow- street, April 3. Stolen from Ashdown Forest, in the parish of Maresfield, Sussex, on the 29th ultimo, the property of John Cheal, a brown mare Pony, about 2 years old, 12 hands high, broom tail, has some hair clipped off under mane, has been worked, and is thoj.;. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— — Bow- street, April 3. Stolen from a field at Birdlip, in the parish of Brimps- field, on the night of the 33rd instant, two chestnut Fillys, nearly thorough bred, one of them 2 years old, about 15 hands high, the other a yearling, between 14 and 15 hands high, white star on forehead, scar on right side, nearly healed up ; both have been recently docked. Information to be given to Superintendent Hanbidge, Stroud, or to Police Constable Cooke, Police Station, Nettleton, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, March 29. Stolen between 7' 30 p. m. the 20th and 6- 30 a. m. 21st instant, from No. 60, Odessa- road, Forest- lane, West Ham : a dark bay horse Pony.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, March 27. Absconded, charged ou a warrant with Horse stealing at Brackley, Northamptonshire, JOSEPH JONES, alias BIG JONEY, a native of Harrow- green, Leytonstone, near Lon- don, 26 years of age, 6 feet high, swarthy complexion, broad shoulders, lounging gait, first joint of first or second finger of left hand deficient, and dressed in dark grey or green striped mixture suit, raised seams, or brown suit, tight trousers, and generally wears a high crowned soft felt hat ; he is a horse dealer, and frequents provincial fairs. Likely to be found with gipsies. This man ( with two others) was taken into custody, but escaped; the other two were tried at Northampton Assizes, and sentenced to seven years' penal servitude. Information to be given to Superintendent Wil- liamson, Detective Office, Scotland- yard, London.— Metro- politan Police, March 27. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded on the 28th ultimo, from Castleford, charged with embezzling £ 17 10s. and other monies, the property of the Wheldale Coal Company, his masters, HENRY SYL- VESTER, clerk : he is 25 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, slight whiskers and moustache ( supposed shaved off), slender build, and leans a little forward in the shoulders ; dressed in a black cloth suit, and has a respectable appearance. He resided in Castleford, and is well known at Newcastle- upon- Tyne, Rochdale, and other places. It is supposed he is making his way for America. Information to be given to Superintendent Hall, Court House, Pontefract, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 5. Absconded on the 30th instant, stealing £ 166, the monies of his employers, Messrs. Morgan, Brothers, merchants : JOSIAH RICHMOND ANDERSON, 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 iuches high, slender build, fair hair and complexion, no I whiskers, slight imperial, and light moustache ; dressed in light tweed trousers, stripe down the sides, short cut- away coat, black, dark blue overcoat, and black hat, a clerk. £ 50 reward is offered for his apprehension and conviction. O., with a nick cut out of the bottom and top Information to be given to Mr. Thos. H. Cowley, Kilsby, or to Superintendent Bailie, Weedon, Northamptonshire. — Bow- street, April 5. Stolen during the night of the 2nd. instant, from a stable Brimstree Order of Foresters : SAMUEL JONES, treasurer to the above, 33 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, rather slender build, fair complexion, sandy whiskers, most on chin, high cheek bones, rather broad features, ring mark in blue ink on one middle finger, tattooed on one arm, above the elbow ; he has served in the Royal Artillery, and is a boot- the property of William Rayner, bricklayer, Stanford Rivers, j maker ; dressed in a snuff- coloured overcoat, black top bat, and a suit of black cloth, and Wellington boots ; it is supposed the letter D.; dressed m the stolen coat, red and black that his wife has since joined him at Birmingham, and that sleeved plush vest, cotton cord trousers, and black cloth cap they have taken tickets for passage for New York; the Has a cousin employed at King's Cross Station, and stated woman . s 33 years of age, very short and stout, broad features, when he left that he was going to him, but will probably get fair complexion, and walks with a short shuffling gait, and —^ work in the Fens. Absconded on the 24th instant, charged with stealing about £ s, from the ' Prince of Wales' public- house, Crown- street, Hoxton : the potman, 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches , high, dark hair ( cut short) and complexion ; dressed iu a Alexandra- road, Gipsy- hill, £ 7 lis. in Gold and Silver; a cardigan jacket, pea jacket over, speckled trousers and vest, - has a gruff voice ; dressed in black or dark clothes. Bilston, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, April 3. be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Christie, Newport, Salop.— Bow- si., inarch 31. Absconded from Fareham, charged with felony : a man, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, of slight build, long thin features, dark complexion, roman nose, thick grey hair, no whiskers, small dark moustache ; dressed ir a dark ribbed cloth coat and vest, dark grey mixture cloth trousers, old spring- side boots with mock buttons, small pattern shepherd's plaid scarf, paper collar, red flannel shirt, and a hard round- crowned cork hat. Stated he was an engineer, and pretends to be introducing a ' patent' for railway and government purposes ; seeks lodgings at private houses kept by widows or spinsters. Pie left Worthing on the 23rd instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Drew, Hants Constabulary, Fareham.— Bow- street, March 27. A warrant is granted for the apprehension of a man charged with committing an indecent assult upon a girl 9 years of age : he is 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 to 11 inches high, very slender, pale thin face, little ( if any) whiskers, brown hair, tuft of light " hair on chin, and is a coachbuilder's blacksmith ; dressed in a suit of black cloth clothes and top hat with crape band. Description of a farm servant who absconded from Weston, Oswestry, at 6 a. m. 011 30th ultimo, charged with black straw bonnet, trimmed with black and mauve. She was discharged from Wandsworth Prison on the 14th ultimo. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, March 29. Stolen on the 25th instant, from a bed- room, at the Half Moon, beer- house, Thame, the property of John Lund : a stealing a black cloth Jacket, pockets on hips with flaps aud ditto in left breast, lining torn in left skirt, and black bone pair of white moleskin Trousers, with fall front, worn at the buttons ; a single breasted black cloth Vest, pockets on each bottom of each leg. By a lodger, about 30 years of age, 5 feet side, and black bone buttons ; a pair of black cloth Trousers, j 7 inches high, no beard or whiskers ; dressed in a black cloth much worn, fall front, torn on seat and left leg, pieced at coat, grey plaid trousers, dark soft hat, all much worn ; he is bottom of legs, and one button torn off with the cloth from a compositor, and a native of Stamford, Lincoln. Abcsonded about a fortnight ago from Gipping, near Stowmarket, charged with stealing a quantity of carpenter's Tools ( recovered), PHILIP SHEPPARD, a labourer, 5 feet storedealer there, as clerk, and is now in London : she is about 23 years of age, tall, light hair, thin, fair complexion, thin face. A warrant has also been issued for the apprehension of EDWARD MANLEY, who is charged with stealing 7 or 8 " inches high 28 years of age, sandy or auburn whiskers, I Shovel and a Spirit Level, the property of his master, Joseph and has an effeminate voice. He may be found with some Sattin, of Brighton : he is a bricklayer, about 37 years of gipsies, who travel in Suffolk and Norfolk. A photograph can be sent on application to Inspector Freeman, Stowmarket, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and to whom information is to be given.— Bow- street, March 31. Description of EDWARD PRICE, a painter, who absconded from Midsomer Nortou, Somerset, on the 29th inst., and is supposed to be a native of Berkeley, Gloucester- shire, charged with stealing a pair of black cloth Trousers and Vest; a pair of plaid Trousers and Vest; two Neckties ; a Collar ; a pair of lace- up Boots ; six black- handled Knives » nd Forks ; a Purse, and Is. in Money; the property of Edwin Bridges. SAUNDERS, a coachbuilder's blacksmith, charged with having committed an indecent assault on a girl nine years of age, at Newport, Salop ; he is 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slender make, pale thin face, no whiskers, tuft of fair hair on chin, and brown hair; dressed in black clothes, and top hat ( crape band). Supposed that his wife is living in Sheffield. Information to FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Further particulars respecting Mrs. THOMPSON, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 8th ultimo, charged with fraud : she has been convicted in Ireland, in the names of SARAH CAMPBELL, alias DUNNE, alias STEPHEN- SON. I11 February, 1851, burglary, 10 years transportation; in June, 1853, burglary, 10 years' transportation ; in Decem- ber, 1857, stealing a horse, 3 years' penal servitude; in September, 1858, escaped from Cork Prison, and retaken in Edinburgh, in November, 1860 ; in August, 1861, discharged 011 licence ; iu August, 1864, fraud, 5 years' penal servitude ; and in March, 1870, she was oommitted for trial from Altrincham, Cheshire, for felony, and acquitted. Description of a mau who tendered a fictitious Cheque for £ 15 on Messrs. Cox and Co., in payment of an hotel bill, at Maidstone, on the 29th ultimo. He is 20 or 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, moderately stout, of gentlemanly appeal ance, and will probably be found at an hotel; dressed daily in black, with white neckcloth before dinner. He is in the habit of writing letters to persons of distinction, which he afterwards exposed to the servants. He gave the name of R. SPENCER CHURCHILL, 3C, Albany, Piccadilly, which has been ascer- tained to be false. He is generally dressed in a grey suit before dining, and had with him a portmanteau travelling rug, hat box, and a small bag, which he may leave at the railway station of the town where he arrives. Left Maidstone by 10T5 train on the morning of the 29th ultimo. He repre- sents that he is reading for the law, and that he is connected with many of the leading aristocratic families residing in England. A warrant is issued for the apprehension of a man calling himself ARTHUR J. NUGENT ( supposed false"), on a charge of obtaining £ 9 9s. 6d., being the change of a eheque for £ 15, drawn by him on the Provincial Bank of Ireland, Dublin, the said cheque being worthless, whereby he defrauded an hotel keeper at Tunbridge Wells, on the 9th instant: he is about 24 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, rather thick set, small moustache, shaves under the chin, which appears rather dark, broad and prominent forehead, and large eyebrows. A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of TERESA GRUNDY, alias EMMA BURY, alias NUTTALL, and JOHN GRUNDY, alias BURY, for having, on the 15th November, 1870, at Blackburn, obtained from Sarah Lund, the sum of £ 6 7s. 6d., by false pretences : She is 26 or 28 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, large prominent teeth, one tooth out in front upper side ; dressed iu black and white plaid shawl, orange coloured winsey dress, black straw hat, with dark feather, is supposed to be a native of Bolton, and has relatives at West Houghton. He is 40 years of age, but looks older, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair and whiskers ( round chin), is lame of left leg and walks with a stick ; dressed in black cloth suit, black billycock hat, generally carries a satchel over his shoulder, represents himself as uncle to the woman. They have possession of a written document purporting to be a will, by which they are to become possessed of some property ( which is false), and upon such representation they procure loans of money and credit for board and lodgings at private lodging- houses, they also frequent public- houses ; the man has been apprehended, and is remanded ; the woman is yet at large, and has been travelling ill the county of Durham, visiting Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Chester- le- street, and also in Yorkshire, Northallerton, Hull, Bradford, Halifax, and Leeds. She may be found in common lodging- houses and private lodgings, or at shooting galleries at fairs, and livery stables.
