Stolen from the person of Robert Roberts, in Oswestry, on the night of the lst instant: a brown leather Purse, with steel clasp, containing a £ 10 Note, No. supposed 921, and has 1 J. Theodore' written on back, and £ 16 10s. in Gold. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Gough, or to Sergeant Thomas, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- street, March 6. BUEGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 8th instant, a draper's shop, 97, Northgate- street, Gloucester, was broken into, and stolen therein : £ 6 13s. 9d., consisting of two Sovereigns, two Half- sovereigns, 7s. or 8s. in Copper, and the remainder in Silver, amongst which were 6s. or 7s. worth of small Coins, a 6d. Piece, stamped ' 80,' and a crooked Sixpence or Eourpenny Piece ; 15s. worth of Id. Receipt Stamps ; a Money Bag ; and two Club Tickets, ou which were written' Cranbam Club' for Drapery Goods. The same night a small grocer's shop at Seedbrooke, near Gloucester, was broken iuto, and stolen from a till about 9s. in Silver and Coppers, amongst which were 14 or 15 old Id. Pieces, of the reign of George III. Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Griffin, Police Office, Gloucester.— Bow- street, March 10. Between 3 and 9 p. m. on the 5th instant, some person or persons by means of a false key, entered the, dwelling- house I of O. He was by means of false key : face, maker Hetticb, convicted at the Central Criminal Court July Sessions, 1864, of larceny from the person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and lie was discharged on the 20th July, 1868. Information io be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Office, Great Scotland- yard, or at any Police Station.— Bow- street, March 10. About 10 p. m. on the 17th January last, Emma Starkey, was murdered in Caugbey- street, Hull, with an iron instru- ment, called a blacksmith's sett ( resembling a hatchet), which had a few days before been stolen from the works of Messrs. C. and W. Earle. A reward of £ 50 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government, and a further reward of £ 50 by the Corporation of Hull, to any person or person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the apprehen- sion and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and the Secretary of State for the Home Department, will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, and also to any person or persons concerned in stealing the hatchet, with which the murder was committed ( not being the actual murderer), who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the same result. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at the West Somerset Steeplechases on the lst instant: a double- cased silver lever Hunting Watch maker Scherzinger, Axminster. Found, supposed to have been stolen, a dark iron grey half- bred Mare, rising 6 years old, about 14| hands high, oil' forefoot slightly white, and a light grey face, the tail having been very recendy docked, and is supposed to be the one advertised in the Gazette of the 8tli ultimo as being in the possession of the Police at Coventry. Absconded from Benson, Oxfordshire, on the 6th instant, charged with stealing from the premises of Mr. Samuel Alford, farmer, of Benson, on the night of the 4th instant, six bushels of Potatoes and one bushel of Carrots : JOHN TOWN, labourer, of Benson, about 22 years of age, 5 feet inches high, dark hair, very slight whiskers, fresh completion, hazel eyes, proportionately built; dressed in short white slop, cord trousers, and small black felt hat. Also ALFRED GURNEY, labourer, of Benson, from 23 to 24 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches ldgh, light brown hair, very slight whiskers, sallow complexion, very splay- footed, and leans forward when walking ; dressed in cord jacket or sleeve waistcoat, cord trousers, black felt hat, and strong lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Seers, Police Station, Watlington, or to Police Constable Price, Police Station, Benson, Oxfordshire, who holds a warrant for their apprehension,— Bow- street, March 10. Description of a man representing himself to be the agent of a large bacon and cheese factor, who lodged four days at Mrs. Keast's, Fore- street, Kingsbridge, and stole seven Photographs, her property, on the 1st instant : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, large head, large bushy eyebrows projecting over small eyes, hair falliug off the top of head, bushy sandy whiskers, sallow complexion, large thick hands, small fine fingers, and dressed in a grey witney cloth double- breasted coat, much worn, drab ribbed cloth trousers, soft felt hat, black and red cravat, and lace- up boots; said lie was a Quaker, and a native of Liverpool. Description of Photographs : one of a young Lady, with a light dress, looking on a basket of flowers ; one ditto, light curly hair; one ditto, sitting, dark curly hair ; one Man and Woman standing ; and another, a Lady sitting. Three are by Hayns, of Kingsbridge. and three by Gray, of Stonehouse. Information to be given to Superintendent Vaugban, Kingsbridge, or to tbe Chief Constable of the Devonshire Constabulary, Paris- street, Exeter.— Bow- street, March 10. Absconded from Bilton, Rugby, on the 4th instant, charged with stealing a pair of woman's kid Boots, new, elastic sides, the property of Henry Hands : HENRY ALLEN, 25 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, very dark com- plexion, long black hair, clean shaved ; dressed in black clcth frock coat, grey striped vest, and cold trousers, or black cloth jacket, and grey vest and trousers, nearly new. Information to be given to Superintendent Wild, Rugby, Warwickshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bm- street, March 10. Absconded from Luton, Bedfordshire, on the 22nd ult., charged with stealing £ 3 3s., from his employer : WILLIAM EDWARD BELLAS, 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown curly hair, spotted face ; dressed in dark blue coat, dark vest, dark striped trousers, balmoral boots, and deerstalker hat, the back of left hand covered with a scar or sore, caused by a burn, and tied up, two scars or sores from the same cause, on tbe back of- right hand ; he is of respectable appearance, was employed ou the Loudon and North Western Railway at Northampton, up to December, 1867. Information to be given to Superintendent Pope, Luton, Beds, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 10. Description of JOHN ADAMS, charged with embezzle- ment : from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stout build, pale complexion, very dark hair, grey eyes, and rather melancholy appearance ; supposed dressed in woollen cord trousers, grey jacket, and black billycock hat, a native of Nottinghamshire, and been employed as salesman in the butter and egg trade. Information to be given to Chief Constable Glossop, Birmingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 10. Absconded from Fordingbridge, on the 16th ultimo, charged with stealing 4s., the property of William Parker, Fordingbridge: JOHN ANDREWS, of Fordingbridge, sometimes practices as a veterinary surgeon, about 23 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair cut short, and no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in a black cloth jacket, cord breeches, short brown leather gaiters, and a black round crowned soft felt hat. Information to be given to Sergeant Simpkins, Hants Constabulary, Fordingbridge, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 8. Absconded from South Shields, on the morning of the 5th instant, charged with stealing a silver verge, Watch, maker Joseph Ritson, South Shields, No. 2562, a German silver Guard, and silver Chain with square links attached ; a silver patent lever Watch, with silver Guard attached ; a pair of tweed cloth Trousers, with red stripe ; a blue cloth Vest; a brown checked cloth Coat, without lining ; and a pair of Wellington Boots, re- fronted : JAMES MALING, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, stout make) round face, dark complexion, dark brown hair, dark whiskers on chin, and dark moustache ; he is a carpenter, and speaks the South country dia. lect-, has a relative residing iu Market- street, Soho, London.
