During the night of the 16th ultimo, tbe dwelling- house ef Mr. William Moss, farmer, of Sea Newbold, near Chester, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a brown linsey Dres3 ; three linsey Petticoats, one with red stripes, the other two brown and white stripes ; and two cotton Chemises ; the property of Margaret Hughes ; a pair of watertight Boots ; and a pair of lace- up Boots ; the property of Hugh Jones and I John Dunniug, servant to Mr. Moss; also a cotton Chemise, and a white Clothes Bag. Information to be given to Super- intendent, Wilson, Tattenhall, near Chester.— Bow- street, March 6. On the night of the 28th ultimo, the dwelling- house of the Rev W. F. Satchell, of Shiffnal, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a Sovereign ; 6s. in Copper; about 10s. worth of Postage Stamps ; six Tea Spoons and four Salt ditto, silver, and marked ' S. ;' seven silver Dessert Forks ; a silver Dessert Spoon, marked ' H. M. S. :' a silver Gravy Spoon, marked ' S. a silver Table Spoon, marked ' J. M. L.;' eleven large Table Spoons, marked ' S. a silver Dessert Fork and Spoon, marked ' W. E. G. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on the 16th ultimo, the dwelling- house of John Armstrong, in South Shields, was entered by means of duplicate keys, and stolen therein : twelve silver Tea Spoons, queen's pattern, marked ' A.;' a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' A. a pair of gold Eyeglasses; a lady's gold Watch, No. 68308 or 3305, gold Chain, bar pattern, attached ; a twisted gold Brooch ; three old- fashioned silver Tea Spoons, plain ; and two silver Butter Knives, with ivory handles. Information to be given to Superintendent Richardson, South Shields, Durham.— Sow- street, March 1. During the night of the 24th instant, the workshop of Mr. James A. Barrett, carpenter and wheelwright, at Fyfield, was broken into and stolen therein : a. tool Basket; a trying plane ; a jack Plane ; two smoothing Planes ; a round Plane; a mortice Guage ; a drawing Knife ; a spoke Shave ; a tenon Saw ; a steel Square ; and three Chisels, all marked 1 J. A. B.' Supposed by three men of the following description : one 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, black whiskers and beard round chin ; dressed in dark jacket and trousers, and round hard hat, and had the appearance of a blacksmith : another, 23 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, small sandy whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a long brown overcoat, velvet collar, light trousers, and high black hat : the other, 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark whiskers and moustache ; dressed in dark jacket, blue trousers, sealskin waistcoat, and fashionable hard- crowned felt hat; this last man has been apprehended, and gave his name JOHN JONES, London. £ 100 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offenders and recovery of the property. Between 8 and 9 p. m. on tbe 20th instant, the dwelling- house of C. Walker, Esq., Wotton, near Gloucester, was broken and entered, and the contents of a portmanteau and drawers ransacked. The offenders being disturbed, decamped, stealing and carrying away a gentleman's black oval onyx, mourning scarf Pin, pearl- set gold stud in centre. Two ladders, one 23 and the other 14 rounds, which had been, removed from a building a quarter of a mile distant, and tied together, wore used to reach the window by which the house • was entered, and left behind ; a box of matches ( damp- proof child; and has friends Brigs, Line, safety fills), mafers Leonard and Co. JAMES NORBURY has been committed to Chester Castle, for trial, at the Spring Assizes, on a charge of stealing the jiorse from Mr. James Birtles' farm, at Swettenham, Cheshire, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 20th instant, and he is also committed oil a charge of stealing a Horse from Mrs. Booths, at Gatley, on the night of the 22ud instant; both horses have been recovered. Description of GEORGE WEBB, charged on a warrant with stealing a pair of Boots, aud some shoemaker's Tools, at Brighton, on the 18th instant: a shoemaker, about 30. years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, can read and write well, and is a native of Brighton ; well known in the West of Sussex. He also, on the same day, obtained £ 1 5s. from a lady in Penrith, by representing that he was collecting money in aid of a females' institution in Stras- burg which was in immediate of want of £ 90. lie stated lie was going to lecture in Lancaster on the'night of the 22hd. inst., and would very likely call upon the Rev. Mr. Dothy, an Independent minister residing in that town. He was. accom- panied by a woman about 40 years of age, rather tall and slender, and of genteel appearance.
