Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, ail betters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of JOHN MORLEY, mason or fence - waller, of West Bradford, who, about 12 noon on the 8th instant, was seen in company with his - wife Alice Morley, passing Horroksford, and going towards West Bradford, via Ribhle Bridge, at which time they were heard quarrelling, at 2 p. m. the same day the body of Alice Morley was found dead in the River Ribble, near Waddington Brook Foot: her husband not having heen heard of since, it is suspected he murdered her, and afterwards absconded. He is 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, and is a native of Grindleton, near Clitheroe; dressed m a white linen jacket, white billycock hat, light coloured waistcoat, - with white satin flowers, cotton cord j trousers, and blucher boots, with three brass eyelet- holes on j each side. Barrett, carpenter and wheelwright, at Fyfield, was broken into and stolen therein : a tool Basket; a trying plane ; a jack Plane ; two smoothing Planes ; a round Plane; a mortice Guage ; a drawing Knife ; a spoke Shave ; a tenon Saw ; a steel Square ; and three Chisels, all marked ' J. Between 9 and 10 p. m. on the 21st instant, The Rowans, at Shurdington, near Cheltenham, the residence of William Scott, Esq., was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a pair of diamond Ear- rings ; a diamond enamelled Brooch; a i pair of topaz Ear- rings ; a gold Bracelet, with large garnet ;! Between 8 and 9 p. m. on the 20th instant, the dwelling- a large single Diamond ; two Indian gold Bracelets; a gold house of C. Walker, Esq., Wotton, near Gloucester, was cable Bracelet, with circular locket, blue enamel with broken and entered, and the contents of a portmanteau and diamonds ; two Indian plaited gold Bracelets ; an emerald drawers ransacked. The offenders being disturbed, decamped, Ring, set round with diamonds; a hair Bracelet, with minia- stealing and carrying away a gentleman's black oval onyx tures set in gold ; a hair cable Bracelet; a Scotch pebble mourning scarf Pin, pearl- set gold stud in centre. Two Bracelet; a plain gold Brooch; a gold Geneva Watch, ladders, one 23 and the other 14 rounds, which had been No. 4906, maker Furber, and gold Chain, Alma pattern ; a removed from a building a quarter of a mile distant, and tied garnet Brooch, a garnet Bracelet; a silver Purse, in shape of together, were used to reach the window by which the house a highland sporran, with cairngorm ; a plain gold Bracelet; was entered, and left behind; a box of matches ( damp- proof and a Brooch and Ear- rings, tortoiseshell and gold. The footprints of three of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, black whiskers and beard men were traced on the flower borders near the house, two of round chin ; dressed in dark jacket and trousers, and round which are of middle size and length, one nailed with round- hard hat, and had the appearance of a blacksmith : another, headed nails, the other without nails, and the third is a 23 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, small sandy narrow short track, also without nails, and small tread. Two whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a long brown overcoat, men of the following description were seen near the premises velvet collar, light trousers, and high black hat : the other, at 11 a. m. and 5 p. m. on the same day, and are suspected : 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark whiskers and 0ne about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, middle moustache ; dressed in dark jacket, blue trousers, sealskin size, ruddy complexion, sandy moustache, and small tuft of waistcoat, and fashionable liard- crowned felt hat; this last hair on chin ; dressed in an alpine hat, dark snuff- coloured man has been apprehended, and gave his name JOHN JONES, topcoat, and blue trousers ; the other about 33 years of age, U 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout make, dark moustache, and large tuft of hair on chin ; dressed in a fashionable flat- crowned felt hat, dark mixture topcoat, and dark trousers. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offenders. Stolen from Lampeter on the night of the 25th instant : a large white mare Pony, aged, . switch tail, in low condition, the property of Mr. Joseph Sturday. JAMES" NCRBITRY has been committed to Chester Castle, for trial at the Spring Assizes, on a- charge of- stealing the Horse from Mr. James Birtles' farm, at Swettenham, Cheshire,- advertised in the Police Gazette of the icuth instant, and he is also committed on a charge of stealing a Horse from Mrs. Booths, at Gatley, on the night of the 22nd instant; both horses have been recovered. A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of JOHN McPHIAL, who deserted from the Royal Artillery Barracks, at Sheerness, on the 12th instant, stealing a Suit of heather tweed, brown :,; u! yellow mixture; two grey flannel Shirts ; a lambswool under Shut,' marked ' A. C. M.;' four pairs of Socks; a' soldier's iiidia rubber Bag," with' 1 draw string; a black cloth Vo. C; a. Mexican Dollar ; a set of gold Shirt Studs; and a gold Scarf Pin. He enlisted at Glasgow on the 3rd August, 1870, wa% born at Ashbourne, Derbyshire, is a shoeingsniith, has worked as a boilermaker at a ship- builders at Goban, near Glasgow ; he is well known in South- ampton, supposed to have served his apprenticeship there ; . may bo w, earing a bine, overcoat with velvet collar. OBADIAH BATTY, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 0 inches high, no whiskers, brown hair, and fresli complexion; sometimes weara a sealskin cap, and other times a low- ierjiwned felt hat, and a suit of brown cloth', trousers rather the lightest colour ; he is a native of Wednesfield Heath, near • Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, at which placo he carried on . i the trade of a butcher. They have been carrying on the trade of fish, fruit, and poultry dealers, in Burslem Market, and have obtained large quantities of fish, fruit, and poultry from merchants and dealers in different parts of the country. - Information to be given to Superintendent Povey, Burslem, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for their apprehensiOn.- — Bow- street, March 3. Hesitated he wis going to lecture in Lancaster on the night of the 22nd inst., and would very likely call upon the Rev. Mr. Dothy, an Independent minister residing in that town. He Was accom- panied" by a woman about 40 years of age, rather tall and slencjer, . and of genteel appearance. They, left Penrith'by the first train on the 23rd instant. The man is about 40 years of' age, 5 feet' 5 or 6 inches high, very dark completion, of Jewish appearance, pleasant- looking, black hair and whiskers ( thiii and meeting under the chin), and wore a dttr< grey coat arid, black soft felt round hat. Description of a man charged with obtaining several sums of Money from country carriers by false pretences, viz.: by sending parcels made up of rubbish and directed to tradesmen in neighbouring- towns, and obtaining, a sum of money in advance from the carrier for the assumed value of the property sent : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 0 inches high, fresh complexion, regular features,, dark brown whiskers, shaved under chin : dressed in a dftrk cloth suit, white shirt collar, turns over necktie, black soft hat, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent O'Neill, Wantage, Berks. - Bow- street, February 24. mitted for trial at the Maidstone Borough Sessions, on the 4th instant ; he is 35 years ol age, 5 feet 3J inches high, black hair, hazel eyes, slight built, brown complexion, tuft of dark hair at end of chin, scar over left eyebrow, figure of a mermaid and man oil left arm, blue mark on left wrist, and large wart back of neck ; dressed in short brown jacket, old cord trOusers; and cap'with peak; has the appearance of a Foreigner. Absconded from Mount St. Bernard's Reformatory oil the 25th ultimo : • EDWARD NICHOLSON, from London, 17 years of age, 4' feet 10 inches high, pale complexion, black hair, has a scar on upper lip, and is deaf. HENRY JENKINSON, from London, 16 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, sandy complexion, fair hair, is a well- proportioned boy, and'lias an abscess mark on the chest. Information to be- given to Governor Carroll, Mount St. Bernard Reformatory, Coalville, Leicester, by whom a reward and expenses will be paid.— Bow- street, March 1. Description of HENRY STEWART ( at present- in the Prison of- Aberdeen, undergoing a sentence of thirty days for obtaining money by false pretences), charged with having committed three separate acts of fraud in the county of Kincardine, for which he will be apprehended on the expira- tion of his imprisonment: he is about 37 years of age, 5 feet 5f inches high, fair hair inclined to auburn, red whiskers ( bushy) and moustache, and stutters a little ; says he was bom in India.
