The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may . lead to their Apprehension. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Betters addressed to the Editor must !> e prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Between 1 and 4 a. m. on the 22nd instant the office at the Goods Station, Great Western Railway, Farringdon, was broken and entered, and two bottles of Brandy, labelled ' James Hennessey,' stolen therefrom. Between 10 a. m. and 4 p. m. on the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of Eli Andrews, of Black Notley, Essex, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein: an old- fashioned silver Watch, main spring broken, and steel Chain attached ; three silver tea Spoons, fiddle pattern, one with worn bowl ; a silver table Spoon, marked ' W. S C.' on top of handle; . a black cloth Vest, buttons up to the neck ; inside, pale yellow colour lining ; a woman's black silk Cape, trimmed with deep black fringe ; and a blue and white cotton j bundle Handkerchief. Absconded from London, on the 24th November last, charged with forging and uttering a cheque for £ 315, upon Messrs. Robarts and Company, bankers, Lombard- street : THOMAS HALLAM, has been known by the names of GRIFFITHS, LENNOX, and VEVAN, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, full hazel eyes, light brown hair, small sandy whiskers and moustache, moderate figure, is usually well dressed, and has served in the R6yal . - „„ Marines. £ 30 reward will be paid for such information as ; ' anwa, y will lead to his apprehension, and recovery of the property,! Sup- sed to have been committed by two furnace men on tramp. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Lawson, Constabulary Office, Litchurch, near Derby.— Bow- street, January .20; Stolen on the night of the 15th instant, from the shop of Messrs. J. P. and G. Reeds, of Stokesley, grocers, by breaking and entering the back premises, about £ 3, consisting of Pennies and Halfpennies. On the night of the 15th instant, the farm house at Haw- thornside, Roxburghshire, was broken into and stolen therein: a yellow le- _ Book, containing three £ 5 Scotch bank Notes, fp. ij. i- £ 1 ditto ; a Half Sovereign, a small sum in Silver and . Copper- Money ; about 5s. worth of Postage and Receipt Stamps ; a bottle of Brandy ; a currant Loaf ; and a copy of the " Scotsman' newspaper, addressed to Wm. Oliver, Esq., Langrune. Information to be given to the Con- stabulary, Jedburgh.- Bow- street, January 18. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Found in the possession of two men at Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, on the 23rd instant, and supposed to be stolen, a dark brown Mare, supposed to be in foal, 4 years old, 14 hands high, short mane, bang tail, in good condition, arid has been recently clipped ; also a large liver- coloured retriever Dog, with curly hair. One of the men gives the name of MITTY KINGSLAND, about 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair all shaved off his face. He was accompanied by another man, who made his escape he is about 60 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, thin pale face, hair and whiskers turning grey, arid turns his feet out in. walking Information to be given to Superinten- dent Clough, Leighton Buzzard, Beds.— Bow- st., January 27. The men are supposed to belong to Man- I was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a pair of black Chester, but are of Irish parentage, and are known in the j Trousere, with fold fronts, and a parr of dark mixture principal towns in Lancashire and Yorkshire. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn. — Bow- street, January 25. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Oil the night of the 20th instant, the offices of the Witney Railway Company, at Witney, were broken and entered, and a small amount of bronze Money stolen therein. Supposed by a man who was seen in one of the carriages at 11 the same night, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, and wore jacket aud trousers of the same material ( brown tweed, small plaid), and iu getting into the goods offices he cut his hand rather severely with the glass of the window. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Cope, Police Station, Witney, Oxon.— Bow- street, January 27. On the night of the 14th instant, the house of Mr. Scutt, Martinstown, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therein : twelve dessert Knives and Forks, with mother of pearl handles ; a round plated cake Basket; and six plated tea Spoons, marked ' S.' Information to be given to Superin- tendent Hare, Dorset Constabulary, Dorchester.— Bow- street, January 27. It has been ascertained that the silver Watches, Nos. " 1809, 6952, 3367, 14723, 11770, and 4354, reported stolen by house- breaking from a pawnbroker's shop at Saltcoats, Ayrshire, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 16th instant, were not stolen.— Bow- street, January 27. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on the 22nd instant, tl, e dwelling- black and red cloth Trousers, with fold fronts, and lined with white calico. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Slough, or to Acting Sergeant Walker, Burnham, Bucks.— Bow street, January 23. During the night of the 18th instant, Grafton House, Worthing, was broken and entered and the following articles stolen therein : a pair of silk crimson Curtains ; a large square plated Inkstand ; three woollen Blankets ; a white Blanket, marked'J. E. T.;' a white Counterpane. Information to be given to Superintendent Henderson, West Sussex Constabu- lary, Worthing.— Boio- street, January 20. Between 1 and 5 p. m. on the 17th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Joseph Jenkinson, at Aketon, in the township of Follifoot, was forcibly entered, aud the following property stolen therein : a blue pilot Overcoat, black velvet collar, black and red plaid lining, two pockets outside, one inside left breast, and has four bright black buttons on it; a black cloth Vest, two pockets and a watch pocket in left breast, black covered buttons, and light drab lining ; a pair of cloth Trousers, grey and black stripe, broad stripes down sides, pattern attached ; a plaiu cotton Shirt, without collar, lined with white cotton on shoulders; a silver watch Guard, round links ; and a red woollen Muffler. An old brown ribbed cloth Coat, with velvet collar, and a red Handkerchief with round white spots, were left behind. Information to be given at the Superintendent's Office, Knaresborough, York- shire.— Bow- street, January 20. On the night of the 17th instant, the house of William Pool, in Little Eaton, Derbyshire, was broken into, and the following Articles stolen : a brown Topcoat, with black velvet collar ; two black cloth Coats and Vests; a grey Coat and and a new light spring Cart, painted black, picked out with blue, ' William Evans, Shepherd's Bush,' painted on one side. By a man about 28- years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stunt, build, broad flat face, pug nose, full ( weak) eyes, hair cut short, and no whiskers ; dressed in a black oxonian coat aud vest, dark trousers, black spring hat, and white scaif with spots upon it. Information to be given to the Inspector on Duty, Bow- lane Police Station, City of London. Bow- strc.' t, January 25. Stolen on the night of the 19th instant, from a field in the - parish of Steane, near Brackley, the property of Mr, Thomas 1- i ovwood, a farmer, four nag Horses, of the follow- ing description ; one a black Mare, aged, in foal, 15^ hands high, a white mark on off fore leg from wound; one a bay Mare, 4 years old, 15 hands high ; one a bay Mare, 3 yeara old, one white heel, 15^ hands high ; and a bay colt Pony, 2 years old, about 13 hands high, white heel, and thorough breed. The above Horses have been traced to London, on the 19th instant, and were seen in the possession of three men of the following description : one about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, dark hair, and fair complexion ; dressed in dark cloth coat, vest, and trousers, and soft felt hat. Another about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion,, and dark hair ; dressed in dark coat, light trousers, and soft felt hat. And the other about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, slight made, and dark complexion ; dressed in dark cloth coat, light trousers, and soft felt hat. £ 10 reward will be paid by Mr. Horwood, on the apprehen- sion and conviction of the offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Osborn, Towcester, or to Inspector Botterell, Brackley.— Bow- street, January 25. Description of WILLIAM JONEY, charged with stealing a Horse, at White Notley, on the 4th instant, since recovered he is 25 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, light brown hair, fair complexion, little or no whiskers ; generally dressed in soft felt hat, brown cloth coat, vest, and trousers, with raised seams, fitting tight to his legs, formerly live! at Leyton or Woodford, Essex, and is now supposed at Dulwich or Clapton. Information to be given to Superintendent Ackers, Police Station, Braintree, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 23. Stolen from a yard at Bexhill, during the night of the 16th instant: a bay cob Mare, about 15 years old, about 14 hands high, in good condition, rough coated, new shoes, one or both white hind feet, cannot lay down, having been hurt in left hind hip, and walks lame at times. Information to be given to Superintendent Jeffrey, Guestling, to P. C. Moore, Bexhill, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, January 20. Stolen from a field at Buttington during the night of the 12th instant : a dark browu cart Filly, rising 3 years old, in low condition, small white star on forehead, and no other white upon her, had not been shod or handled. Stolen from a lodging- house in Shifnal on the 25th inst., the property of Michael Milan : a blue pilot Monkey Jacket, bound with broad silk. facings and velvet, collar. By a man of the following description : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or- 8 inches high, thiu face, whiskers, beard, and moustache, cut short; dressed iu an old long blue livery overcoat with silver plated buttons, cord trousers, black high hat, old lace- up boots, the uppers cut in several places, walks lame. Informa- tion to be given to Sergeant Cox, Shiffnal, Salop.— Bow- street, January 27. Description of a man and woman who absconded on the 17th instant, stealing and taking away with them the following articles, the property of Mary Parish, widow, 26, Bath- street, Northampton, with whom they had lodged for a. few days : a silver Geneva Watch, much worn ; a ditto, gilt din!, partly worn off; a Scotch pebble Brooch, eight or ten stones set in silver, round hole in centre of brooch ; a silk scarf Shawl; paisley pattern ; aud a black silk Dress, a good deal worn : H. F. or FRANK REDLAND, a compositor, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fair complexion, thin face, light browu hair and whiskers ; dressed in black cloth over^ coat, jacket and vest, grey trousers, with dark stripe down leg, soft black billycock hat, aud elastic side boots ; is well known in the printing trade, and is supposed to belong to Bury St. Edmunds. SARAH REDLAND, about 22 years of age, 5 feet2inches high, black hair, large chignon, parted down centre ; dressed in black bonnet, trimmed with crape, black velvet cape, with black bead trimming, and old black silk dress, with s'; ripe, ancl two flounces of crape ; supppsed to belong to Wisbech or King's Lynn, where she has resided, and went by the name of WILSON. Information to be given to Chief Constable Keenan, North- ampton, who holds, a warrant for their apprehension— street, January 27. Description of FRANK BOND, charged with embezzle- ment, 26 or 28 years of age, 5 fe. et 10 or 11 inches high, light hair, cut short, and parts down centre, slight light moustache and whiskers, long thin face and neck, and smart in appear- ance. Absconded, charged with stealing £ 6, the monies of his mauler, William Henry France. Esq., surgeon, New Whiting- ton, an the 21st instant: CHARLES HALL, a groom, about 20 years of age, 5 feet high, round shouldered, fresh com- plexion, slightly pockpitted, brown hair, and no whiskers © j- moustache ; dressed in a suit of dark, grey tweed, hard blafik felt hat, and white necktie. Information to be given to Superintendent Oldham, Constabulary Office, Chesterfield, who holds a warrant for his Reprehension.— Bm-^ treet, Jmuary 25. Description of RICHD. SHAW, alias DROYER DICK, for whose apprehension a warrant has been obtained for. stealing £ 2 12s;, the property of Emma Cowton, at Holgate, in the West Riding of York": 45 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches bigh, fresh complexion, grey hair, whiskers growing round throat, and faqe, a driver, of. cattle at fairs, born at: Alton, near Driffield, East Riding, last residence at Skiptow, West Riding; dressed in a dark grey overcoat, trousers, fustian leggins, dark billycock hat, and clogs.. Information to be given to Superintendent Kane, Tadcaster, West Riding of Yorkshire.— Bow- street, January 20. Stolen from a house in Seacombe, about 7 a. m. on the 18th instant : a blue cloth Coat and Vest ; a pair of light cloth Trousers ; a pair of yellow ditto,; a pair of dark ditto ; a black cloth Coat; a light cloth Vest ; a violet coloured Hand- kerchief ; a yellow ditto : a white calico Shirt ; a yellow and black ditto ; a blue ditto; a pair of worsted Stockings ; a pair of Boots, clump soles ; a seal skin Cap ; and a pillow Slip. By a lodger named HENRY MOORES, of West Bromwich, boltmaker, 21 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light complexion, small light moustache, no whiskers, and slender made. Information to be given to Superintendent Egerton, County Police, Birkeuhead, or. to Inspector Saxton, Egremont, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bmti- stveet, January 2f>.^, Absconded on the 21st instant, charged with embezzling £ 12 from the Kent Arms public- house, North Woolwich, a potman, 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair,, eyes, and complexion; dressed in blue' pilot jacket, light tweed trousers and vest, side spring boots, black cloth cap with French peak.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, January 25. Absconded from Brasted, Kent, charged with embezzle- ment, on the 18th instant: FREDERICK FULLER, 16 yrs. of- age, 5, feet 1 inch high, dark brown hair and eyes, fresh complexion, rather stout built, round shoulders, and scar on left side Of neck ; dressed in light coloured trousers, with brown stripe down the sides, dark mixture jacket, dark vest, round hard felt hat, and new lape- up boots, specked and nailed; supposed to be iu the neighbourhood of Croydon, Surrey, or Woolwich, Kent. Information to be given to Superintendent Colman, Kent Constabulary, Sevenoaks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 23. Stolen on the 21st instant, from the house of Mr. Bailey, in the borough of Abingdon, a single- cased gold Watch, gold face, and two Brooches, one gold. By a person who took lodgings there, and represented himself as an upholsterer by, trade and a Wesleyau preacher, he gave his name, as THOMAS KINGLAND, and said he came from Grantham, Lincoln- shire ; he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 6 inches high,, dark grey eyes, black curly hair, bushy whiskers under chin, no moustache, rather stout, dark complexion ; dressed in dark trousers and jacket, red woollen shirt, shabby boots, very broad at the toes, and shabby round black hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Rawlins, Abingdon, Berks, by whom all reasonable expenses will be paid.:— Bow- street, January 23. Absconded from Nantwich Union Workhouse, taking with them Union Clothing, and stealing a suit of Clothes, the property of John Burgess, another inmate, consisting of a blue pilot Jacket, woollen Vest, moleskin Trousers, two pairs of Stockings, a Shirt, two Flannels, a pair of watertight' Boots ; and a black silk Handkerchief, which they are sup- - - of age, 5 feet 6 inclieg high, long thin'features, downcast look, eyes,' and slightly in kneed. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Laxton, Nantwich, Cheshire, who holds warrants for their apprehension.— Bow- street, January 28."
