Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the urpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made aud addressed to MR. C. *#* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor must: be prepaid, otherw- ise the insertion will not be made. During the night of the 2nd instant, the store room pantry of the dwelling- house of Mr. Thornhill, farmer, Bar- thomley, was broken into, and the following property stolen therein : 7 lbs. of Raisins; 4 lbs. of Currants ; 2 lbs. of Candles ; 3 lbs. of Bice ; 6 lbs. of Sugar ; J lb. of Almonds ; J lb. of Candy Peel; 4 oz. of Citron ; 2 oz. of cayenne Pepper; 2 oz. of ground Cinnamon ; 3 silver tea Spoons, marked ' O. T.;' 3 silver plated tea Spoons, marked ' W.' Information to be given to Superintendent Laxton, Nantwich, or to Inspector Wood, Crewe.— Bow- street, December 5. Sometime during the night of the 27th instant, an office in the borough of Middlesborough, was broken into, and the following property stolen therein : five bottles of Gilbey's Sherry ; twelve receipt Stamps ; about 8s. worth of penny postage Stamps ; a few half- penny Stamps ; 5d. in Copper ; a tape Measure, 66 feet long, with a brown leather case, and about a foot cut off. INFORMATIONS On the night of the 25th instant, the branch grocery store of Mr. Hugh Pattinson, at Little Salkeld, near Penrith, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : two rolls of black twist Tobacco, about 6 lbs. each ; part of a roll, about 3 lbs., of black twist Tobacco ; about 3£ lbs. of brown twist Tobacco, in 1 oz. and £ oz. packages ; about 4 lbs. of black twist Tobacco, in 1 oz. and \ oz. packages ; about 2 lbs. of Description of two men charged with housebreaking at cut Tobacco ; the 1 oz. and oz. packages are wrapped in Petersfield, aud stealing two pairs of Boots, a black cloth : pieces of printed paper relating to the British aud Foreign Coat ( since recovered), a black cloth Vest, double- breasted, j Bible Society.; about 3s. 6d. in copper Money ; two new blue with collar, pockets outside, mended at the sides, a new drab ' and white striped cotton Shirts, three white buttons on the Vest, double- breasted, with collar, black bone buttons, pockets breast, one on each wrist, one on the neck, shoulders lined at sides, and a fustian Jacket, made from a coat, pockets at with calico, man's size ; and two woollen Mufflers, one white, sides : one about 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, black, and magenta, the other red, white, and black. . Found on the 29tli ultimo, on the shore of the River Mersey, near Egremont Ferry, the body of a newly born female child, wrapped iu brown paper, and tied with string, an address had been gummed on the paper, most of which has been torn off, but there is the following printed address left, ' A Miles, Brook- street, London;' the body bore marks of violence, and is supposed to have been murdered. An inquest was opened on the 30th ultimo, and adjourned until the 7th proximo. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Description of two tramps charged with attempting to commit a highway robbery, on the 30th ultimo, upon Thomas Hillage, on the Llanfihangil- road : one is short, and wore a ca, p, dark long coat, and light coloured trousers ; the other tall and strong, very long dark brown hair, large tuft of hair torn off his head in the scuffle ( since found), and severely kicked ; wore a jimcrow hat and long dark coat, torn inside of breast; he had a long hazel rod, twisted, forming a running noose, and attempted to throttle Hillage. The other about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, no whiskers, beard, or moustache ; dressed in brown overcoat, and light comforter. Stolen from a field at Selby Park, on the 21st uftimo, an aged half bred bay Mare, heavy iu foal, has a blemish on one lmee, a curb ou one hock, and a scar on one hind heel, a sand crack on one of her fore feet, and a plain head. £ 20 reward will be paid ou conviction of the offender aud recovery of the mare, on application at 30£, High- street, Birmingham, In- formation to be given at the Police Station, King's Heath, near Birmingham. — Bow- street, December 7. During the night of the 3rd instant, a Kent ewe Shoep, was slaughtered in a marsh near Thames Haven, in the parish of Corringham, and the hind quarters and shoulders taken away, the property of Mr. Henry Long, farmer, of the above parish. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who shall give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and con- viction of the offender or offenders. Stolen during the last month, from Talymalo Mountain, Grwynefechau, in the parish of Talgarth, twenty wether Sheep, white faced cheviot breed, marked with two half circles cut in l ight ear, and one in left of some of them, others with two half circles ill left ear, and one in right, a ruddle mark down right side, aud a pitch mark ' W.' m a circle on the left, burn mark under left ear extending from the ear to jaw ; the property of Mr. Andrew Dobie, farmer, Celwich. Information to be given to Superintendent Evans, Police Station, Crickhowell.— Bow- street, December 7. Stolen, on the 1st instant, from Hoxne Fair, in the county of Suffolk : a large light- coloured mare Donkey, aged, limps with off hind leg when starting, hair chafed off both shoulders from collar, the property of Mr. John Whurr, of Fish Needham, in the county of Norfolk, dealer, A man was seen the same night riding a donkey on the turnpike road, answering the description of the one stolen from Hoxne and going in the direction of Ipswich. Stolen between 5 p. m. on the 3rd and G a. m. on the 4th instant, from a field near Beckenham, a light bay Mare, 7 years old, 15 hands high, off hind foot white, black mane and tail. Stolen on the night of the 29th ultimo, atgMilton, next Sittingbourne : a cream coloured Horse, 13 hands high, aged, black mane apd tail, white stripe down forehead, has a bald place on wither. Supposed by a man, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, black coat and trousers, cap without peak. Stolen from a field at Horsham, Sussex, during the night of the 28th ultimo, a chesnut Mare, 8 years old, 14 hands high, has broken knees, and is in good condition. Found straying at Normanby, near Middlesborough, on the 25th ultimo, supposed to have been stolen : an iron grey 2 year old Colt, about 14 hands high, long mane and tail, in thm condition, and without shoes. Stolen from a pasture near Harlow Town on the night of the 28th instant: two Welsh Ponies— one a light bay, 12£ hahds high, aged, both knees broken, and a scar on oil' side of lower jaw, toes of hind feet much worn and long tail; the other a dark bay, aged, 11 hands high, small light place on side of fac% and short tail, the property of Thomas Evans. A man named WILLIAM DYER, alias PROFESSOR HALLIDUFF, alias W. G. GRAHAM, is charged with having stolen on the 24th ultimo at Stowmarket, a large Magic Lantern and 52 Slides, illustrative of the Life of Robinson Crusoe, the War in Abyssinia, a Tale of a Lobster, softie Comic ones, and a Chromotrope, the property of Walter Waghorn, exhibitor ; he is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 10 inehes high, dark hair, slight whiskers and moustache, shaves under chin, has a small lump on one side of face, and is slim built; dressed in a daik coat and vest, brown trousers, low hat, black leather leggings, and side- spring boots, much worn. Absconded on the 2nd instant, from 2a, Edgware- road, stealing £ 11 17s. in Gold and Silver: a page boy, 15 years of age, short, pale complexion, dark hair and eyes ; dressed in black velvet jacket, dark trousers and vest, old, blucher boots, and black cloth cap, with peak ; friends reside at 32, Lever- street, GosweJU- road— Metropolitan Police, D Division, Dec. 7. Absconded on the 3rd instant, from Burts Cottages, Kensal New Town, taking with him about £ 30 : a man, 35 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, beard, and moustache, turning grey; dressed in blue pilot jacket, black cloth trousers, old- fashioned billycock ; is accompanied by his son, 13 years of age, fair complexion and hair ; dressed similar to his father, both have marks from abscesses under right jaw ; supposed will embark at Liverpool for America.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, December 7. Absconded on the 28th ultimo, from Upper Tooting, embezzling £ 7 : a butcher, 19 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, red hair ; dressed in black clotli coat with pockets at sides, dark brown vest and trousers, and black hat; has relatives living at Hammersmith, where he may be found .— Metropolitan Police, V Division, December 5. Absconded on the 27th ultimo, from No. 10, Elgin- mews South, Maida- vale, stealing an English silver lever Watch, f- plate, enamelled dial, sunk seconds, ' Thomas Gath, Small- street, Bristol, No. 6580,' on works : a man, 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, pockpitted, black hair, moustache, and small tuft on chin ; supposed in the neigh- bourhood of Notting- hill.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, December 5. Absconded on the 29th ultimo, from No. 13, Warden- road, St. Pancras : a youth, 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion and hair, full face ; dressed in dark coat and trousers, and black cloth cap ; a native of Gloucester.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, December 5. Stolen from Presthope, in the parish or Wenlock, on the 28tli ultimo, a common Yorkshire dark tweed Coat, much worn, the lining torn in the back, a hole burnt in the tail, two outside hip pockets and one inside left breast, in one of the pockets there was a wooden tobacco pipe with brass lid attached. By a tramp, having the appearance of a collier, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark hair and whiskers meeting, and dressed in a dirty white slop with band at waist, dark moleskin trousers, strong lace- up boots, and billycock hat. The property can be identified. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Ivens, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Bullock, Much Wenlock, Salop.— Bow- street, Dec. 5. Absconded from Middlesbrough on the 29th ultimo, charged with stealing a silver Watch, since recovered, a man, about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, light hair, scar on end of chin ; dressed in a dark grey coat, cord trousers and vest, and hairy cap. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Police Office, Middlesbrough. — Bow- street, December 5. Absconded on the 2nd instant, from 10, Macclestield- street, Soho, stealing a tweed Suit: a woman, 24 years of age, 5 feet high, stout, dark complexion, hair and eyes; dressed in light grey dress, black velvet jacket, and black crape bonnet; relatives reside at 3, Tyleris- court, Berwick- street, Soho.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, December 5. Absconded from Peterborough on the 30th ult., charged with felony, MATTHEW TOON, butcher, late of Farcet and Ramsey Herne, a returned convict: he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, little or no whiskers, small features, stout build, and splaw feet; usually dressed in dark clothes and felt hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Barker, Normancross, Peter- borough.— Bow- street, December 5. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Altrincham, on the 3rd instant : a woman's black silk Dress, with four flounces; a woman's brown linsey Dress; a black wool Shawl; a man's brown cloth Overcoat, with brown velvet collar ; a pair of men's black cloth Trousers ; and a blue cloth Coat and Waistcoat. By a man and woman of the following description, who had taken lodgings there on the 1st instant, and after- wards absconded on the 3rd instant: the man is about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, black hair, and no whiskers. The woman is about 35 years of age, about 5 feet high, dark brown hair, has one or two teeth out in front, and talks down her nose. She had a little boy with her, about ! 4 months old. Information to be given to Superintendent Steen, Altrincham, Cheshire.— Bow- street, December 5. Absconded from Wrexham a short time since, charged with embezzling diveis sums of Money belonging to his employer : WILLIAM HENRY FLANNAGAN, brewer's clerk ; he is about 5 feet 9 inches high, from 35 to 40 years of age, more or less, remarkably sp, are built, small and narrow face, sharp features, dark hair, mingled with grey, blue eyes, sallow skin, and a few straggling hairs on lower part of face, extending down in a tuft under the chin, inclined to . be a little knock kneed, and leans forward when walking ; has a wife who is an invalid and drawn about in a chair, also has children ; it is supposed he may be in the neighbourhood of Hereford. £ 1 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as may lead to liis apprehension, On applying to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, Wrexham, Denbighshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 5. Description of THOMAS NEECH, charged with stealing an Americau Clock, the property of Charles Butler, at Melksham, on the 17th October last: about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light hair, complexion, and ( supposed) moustache, of smart appearance, but has a rather limping gait when walking, as one leg is a little shorter than the other; he is married, and will most likely be found in some town dealing in either pictures, books, tobacco, and snuff. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector Luffman, Melksham, Wilts, who hold a warrant for his apprehension. - Bow- street, Decem- ber 2. Description of WILLIAM CHARLES BOWDEN, who is charged with embezzlement at Birmingham : he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, broad build, brown curly hair,, sandy whiskers and moustache, shaved under chin, sallow complexion, and crooked nose : was formerly a clerk to a firm in the glass trade. £ 50 reward will be paid on his apprehension and conviction. Information to be given to Detective Inspector Manton, Police Office, Birmingham.— Bmo- street, December 2. Description of CHARLES STEVENS, charged with stealing at Leighton Buzzard, 70 red Herrings : about 20 years of age, 5 feet high, rather stout, very full face, brown hair, no whiskers ; dressed in tweed jacket and trousers, and Scotch cap ; his parents reside at Kempston, near Bedford. Information to be given to Superintendent Clough, Leighton Buzzard, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 2. Description of WILLIAM SANDERSON, a tramp, committed to Northallerton Gaol for 21 days hard labour, under the Vagrant Act, on the 2nd instant: 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light brown hair, grey eyes, blind of right eye, fresh complexion, and stout build ; dressed iu an old blown cloth jacket, black cloth vest, repaired in front with brown cloth, grey striped cloth trousers, scarlet woollen muffler, black cloth cap, and old boots; states he is a labourer, and a native of Fargate, Sheffield, and that he has served several terms of imprisonment in the following Gaols, Cold Bath Fields, Falkingham, Northampton, and Wakefield. Further particulars respecting the boy named Jona Brookes, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 18tli May, 1864, also the man and woman, for whose apprehension a reward of £ 50 is offered by Government : they were last seen at Cheltenham on or about the 14th ultimo; the man was then carrying on the trade of a travelling hatter, and the boy was sent into the streets to sing, and they are supposed to lodge in padding kens or low lodging houses, and to be making their way for South Wales and the south of England.
