Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the urj^)_ of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed riders^, or stolen property,''' may bear the Si; Stolen from a cottage near Horsham, by means of house- breaking, on the 30th ultimo : a Monkey Jacket, with black < vf . bone buttons, and plaid lining ( torn under left arm) ; a white cotton Shirt, nearly new ; and an old billycock Hat, lining torn out. Supposed by two tramps, who are making their way into Hampshire, as they were traced' in that direction i one is about 18 years Of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, and drgssed in. old brown coat, buttoned close up to the ch&, and old cord trousers, ragged at the bottom of the legs ; the other is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, and dressed in an old dirty white slop, sleeve torn at the elbow, and old cord trousers ; they are supposed to be bearing the stolen property. INFORMATIONS. left at a public- house in Bridghorth, by a man about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, brown hair, and fresh com- plexion ; dressed in black jimcrow hat, grey suit, with tight- # tting trousers, and macintosh; had a bridle and saddle with him, which he took away, stating that he was going to Shrewsbury to fetch two other horses for the fair which was held on the" 29. th ultimo, but nothing having been seen of him since, the mare is supposed to have been stolen ; she is about 6 years old, 14 hands high, two white spots on near side and back, three black legs, near hind leg white up to hock,, lame from side bones on both fore fetlocks, a little white on fore- head, and very rough in coat, as though it had been turned out all the summer. Stolen from a field in the parish of Saint Mary Magdalen, Hastings, supposed on the 24th ultimo : a large Kent Sheep, a stroke deyi the back, and the letter ' P.' marked on the left side in tiver. Information to be given to Chief Superin- tendent Glenister, Town Hall, Hastings.— Bow- street, Nov. 7. The bay Mare advertised in the Police Gazette of the 4th instant, and subsequent dates, as stolen from Market Drayton, Salop, has' been recovered at Wigan, Lancashire : a man of the following description is in custody under, remand till the 10th instant, on the charge of stealing it, he first gave his name ARTHUR BROOKS, afterwards FREDERICK ARTHUR CHATFIELD, states he is a painter and decorator by trade, and belongs to the Borough, London, about 25 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, oval visage, has resided the last 10 weeks at Tyldesley, 7 miles from Wigan, appears quick and active. Information to be given to Sergeant Howells, Market Drayton, Salop.— Bow- street, November 7. FORGERY. ' Description of H. W. HUGHES, alias HEREFORD BILL, charged with forgery at Aylesbury : 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, ruddy complexion, sandy hair and whiskers: dressed in dark cloth jacket and vest, light grey Trousers, and black billycock hat ; he is a printer, travelling about the country with a trade card, No. 256, belonging to H. Wightman, of Hertford. Information to be given to Superintendent Denson, Aylesbury, Bucks, who holds a W& gipt for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 4. JM^ JIO,..^ :—' BBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from a gentleman in Oldham, on the 27th ultimo, silver Sever centre- seconds stop Watch, 20 size, No. 26775, L maker Jas. Winterbottom, Oldham, on the dial and move- ments, engine- turned case with oval shield in the centre, gold hinges, had attached a gold Guard, belcher pattern, stamped ' 9 carat,' one of the links is broken near the swivel and tied with" k string. £ 2 reward will be paid for the apprehension and conviction of the offender and recovery of the property. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldham, Lancashire.— Bow- street, November 2. At 1 a. m. on the 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. William Garrod, situate on the Tuddenham- road, in the borough of Tpswich, was broken and entered and stolen therein, a silver Geneva Watch, silver dial, makers Schulm and Boby, Ipswich, on dial, No. 25254, also a silver Guard, small pattern ; and about 10s. or 12s. in Silver and Copper Money. By two men : one is about 6 feet high, and had on a light skull cap, which formed a mask, a long white shirt outside his clothes, and dark trousers with stripes down the sides ; the other is about 5 feet 7 inches high, and had on a black skull cap, forming a mask, and an old- fashioned cloak ( dark red stripes). They - took away with them a newly killep chicken, plucked. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Police Office, Town Hall, Ipswich, Suffolk.— Bow- st., November 4. Stolen by means of housebreaking on the 30tli ult., between 5 and 9 p. m., from a cottage in the parish of Worfield, the property of Benjamin Lane : a carpet Bag, dark green, with a yellow spot; £ 76 in Gold; a £ 5 Note ; a Saving's Bank Book, with £ 122 entered therein, ( Bridgnorth Savings Bank); and a pair of black plush Breeches. £ 20 reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and the recovery of the money, or a portion of the reward, in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, Salop.— Bow- street, November 2. Stolen between the 20th and 24th ultimo, from the parish of Clyro, Radnorshire, the property of W. T. M. Baskerville, Esq., of Clyro Court : two Welsh wether Sheep, pitch marked with the letters ' J. S.' on one side, and ' Y; MV on the other. Information to be given to Superintendent Wheeldon, Penybont, or to Police- Constable Lewis, Clyro, Radnorshire. Bow- street, November 7. During the night of the 3rd instant, a grey cart Mare, aged, about 14| hands high, was put into a field near the Coalport toll- gate ; when found on the 4thinst. it was covered with sweat and dirt, and a saddle- mark was quite visible. It is supposed to have been stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, or to Police Constable ( No. 66) Harrington, Suckfield, Salop.— Bow- street, Nov. 7. Stolen from Stanstead Hall, Halstead, during the night of the 2nd instant, the property of Mr. E. H. Bentall : two cart Horses— one a chesnut gelding, 16 hands high, 3 years old, white stripe down the face, one white hind fetlock, in good condition; the other a chesnut mare, about 16 hands high, 3 years old, star on forehead, in good condition. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Ackers, Braintree Police Station, or to Inspector Hammond, Halstead, Essex.— Bow- street, November 4. 1 BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 2nd instant, a pawnbroker's shop ' the borough of Middlesborougli, was broken into, and int £ 4 in Copper Money, a pair of black and grey tweed Trousers, with a broad black stripe down the sides, and a Coat and Vest were stolen therein. The offender or offenders left behind them an old black vest, trimmed with small black horn buttons, with the top button off. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough.— Bow- street, October 4. ' Between 8 p. m. 1st and 7 a. m. on the 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of Miss Sarah Eaglesfield, of Wellesley, Derby- shire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : an old brown silk Ujnbrella, with crooked bone handle ; a white calico Nightdress; a white cambric Pocket- handkerchief, marked ' S. E., No. 3,' in ink ; a small silver Tea Spoon, marked ' C.;' a small silver Caddy Spoon ; two nickle silver Tea Spoons; two Razors, black handles; an oval- shaped Razor- case ; a pair of small steel Scissors; about lbs. of Cheese ; some Tea and Coffee ; six bottles of Wine, three ginger, three dandelion. Also from a stable adjoining, a brown baragan Slop; part of a Bridle Rein ; and part ftf a stirrup Leather. Information to be given to . Superintendent Carline, Con- stabulary Office Wooden Box, Burton- on- Trent.— Bvw- street, November 4. • < HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Found on the 1st instant, in a field in Frog- lane, Wigan, a bay Mare, aged, about 15 hands high, black legs, near hind fetlock white, sprained in both hind legs, several white spots on- near side, and in low condition ; there was a horse fair at Wigan, on the 29th ultimo, and it is supposed the horse has been stolen, and abandoned. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Wigan.— Bow- street, November 7. Stolen " from Walford Court on the 31st ultimo : 10 yearling Ewes, of the Cotswold breed, marked with A. T. in a ring, and a notch in the left ear. Information to be given to Superintendent Cope, Police Station, Ross, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, November 7. Stolen from Arbour Hill Farm, near Ross, on the 31st ultimo : six white- faced Lambs, not marked. Information to be given to Superintendent Cope, Police Station, Ross, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, November 7. On the night of the 4th instant a Sheep belonging to Mr. Thomas Wood, butcher, was Slaughtered in a field at Bellingham Lodge Farm, in the borough of Wigan ; the hind parts had been roughly flayed, the hind, legs hacked off at the joints and a portion of the hind quarters hacked off and taken away, the remainder left in the field. A reward of £ 5 will be paid to any person who shall give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Chief Constable Simm, Police Office, Wigan.— Bow- streef, November 7. On the 27th ultimo a dun or mouse- coloured Mare was LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Jesse Highley, Elles- mere, on the 5th instant : £ 3 in Gold ; 17s. 6d. in Silver ; a loose fawn coloured coat, large size ; two woollen Shirts, one fawn coloured, the other red and white plaid. By a tramping youth, who he employed to clip horses, 20 or 21 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, pale face, brown hair, cut short, no whiskers, and walks lame ; dressed in dark mixture coat and vest, black cloth trousers, fitting tight to the legs, billycock hat, lace- up boots, with a patch on one of them, will seek employment with horsebreakers or in stables. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- street, November 7. Description of THOMAS BEASLEY, a tramping watch and clock maker, charged with stealing a silver lever Watch and various watchmaker's Tools, on the 31st ultimo, the pro- perty of William Chapman, of Metheringham, Lincolnshire, also a watch and clock maker : about 42 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, dark eyes, dark hair, cut short, which he combs behind his ears, full face, of pugi- listic appearance, walks erect, with a swaggering gait, stammers when speaking. Stated he had been in business and failed at Kingston- on- Thames ; is well known by the trade in John- street and Clerkenwell ; dressed in dark eloth coat, pockets on hips, dark ribbed cloth trousers, dark cloth single- breasted vest, black and white shepherd's plaid woollen shirt, green and black plaid scarf, elastic- side boots, patched on each side, has been newly soled and heeled, and black hard felt hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Alling- ham, County Police Station, Lincoln.— Bow- street, Nov. 7. Stolen from a bedroom at the Light Dragoon public- house, Bourn, on the morning of the 4th instant: an open- face silver patent lever Watch, capped, plain figure^ on face, seconds hand, maker Shaw, Billingborough. No. 2694; and a gold Scarf Pin, with a red stone in it. By a man who lodged there during the night of the 3rd, and stated he was a baker, but did not follow the trade, about 28 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, rather stout, and good looking ; dressed in black coat, pockets outside, black vest, black and white check trousers, black billycock hat, elastic- side boots, black and white woollen shirt, white paper front, with gilt studs, and wore a ring on left little finger^ Carried a large brown paper parcel, and stated he was gpiug to Grimsby, and thence to Liverpool; he may . fee found On the night of the 30th ultimo, between 6' 30 and 8 p. m., the vicarage, Ogley Hay, situated at Brownhills, near Walsall, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a silver- plated Communion Service — a large Flagon ( with lid, surmountedl by a cross), Chalice, Paten, and Alms Dish, all marked with ' S. James, Ogley Hay,' and name of donors ; a silver- plated Salver, marked 1C. S.' with the C crossed eut; two sugar Basins, one lined with gilt, the other open work for glass basin ; a small cruet Stand ; a biscuit canister Stand ; two pairs of sugar Tongs ; two plated Skewers ; two pairs of nut Crackers; a pair of plated Forks ; a soup Ladle ; two sauee Ladles; a gravy Spoon ; a moist sugar Spoon ; a caddy Spoon; six egg Spoons, lined with gilt; two knife Rests; ten tea Spoons ; thirteen dessert Spoons ; ten small Forks ; six large ditto ; four salt Spoons ; six table Spoons ; plated Tops of bottles in dressing case ; a hair Bracelet, imitation gold, inlaid with enamel bracelet, one without enamel ; one jet, one ivory, one silver twist, and one pebble Brooch, piounted with silver ; a mourning Ring, with place for hair, with the name of ' Singleton' inscribed, and dated 1836 ; and the following silver, six tea Spoons, marked ' S.,' six ditto, not marked ; two silver salt Spoons, lined gilt ; a silver chased napkin Ring, marked ' J. J. S.' An old soft billycock hat without band was found upon the premises, with two cuts in the crown-. £ 5 reward will be paid by the Rev. J. J Single- ton, to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. ' Between 10 and 11 a. m. on the 19th instant, a fire broke out in the farm building of Mr. Samuel Pritchard, of Cefnllyfnog, in the parish of Llansaintffraid, whereby a barn, three bays, and a cart- house, containing oats, barley, straw, . and implements were destroyed. Supposed by, a tramp, from 50 to 60 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark hair, full whiskers turning grey, and down- locking ; and wore'a broad- brimmed low- crowned black hat, the crown covered Wf. th black oil skin, and dark clothes ; he carried a long stick like a drov^- spoke a little Welsh, and was begging. Description of SAMUEL ELLIOTT, a pot hawker, charged with stealing on the 21st September last, at Killamarsh : a rough coated light brown terrier Dog,, short in the feet, and answers to the name, of ' Tick,' t'he> property of Thomas Pressly, Killamarsh, He is about 55 " years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, brown hair, sallow complexion, small whiskers, wore a sleeve waistcoat, low crowned hat, breeches and leggings, was with a pot cart which had the name of Charlotte Elliott painte d on it, accompanied by a female and a youth, and is in the habit of travelling the counties of Derby, Notts, and York, Information to be given to Superintendent Goreman, Eckingten, Chesterfield, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- st., Nov. 7. Description of GEORGE WILLIAM STATHAM, charged on a warrant with embezzlement : 17 years of age, but looks older, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, dressed in brown overcoat with velvet collar, blue surtout coat, grey trousers, with black stripes down sides, double breasted vest, same material, black hard billycock hat, elastic side boots, very narrow necktie, and gold studs. Information to- be- given to Head Constable Alexander, Hanlej', Stafford- shire.— Bow- street, November 7. Absconded from Hay, Breconshire, on the 1st instant, charged with embezzling various sums of Money belonging to the Breconshire Coal and Lime Company, Limited : HENRY BATTS, an agent, from 50 to 55 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair and whiskers, turning grey, meeting under the chin, bald on top of head, fresh complexion, supposed hazel eyes, stout built, very lame of right leg or foot, and the latter is supposed to be a little deformed from an accident, and turns out very much, bends both knees, and walks slowly with a peculiar gait, and generally uses a large walking stick; dressed in dark cloth suit, with dark overcoat, and black bowler hat; he left Hay by train for Hereford, and is supposed to have gone to Wolverhampton, where a relative keeps a butcher's shop, or to Faringdon in Berkshire, where he kept a publichouse called the ' Folly,' some 30 years ago. Information to be given to Chief Constable Gwynne, Brecon; to Superintendent Evans, Crickhowell, or to Sergeant Jones, Hay, Breconshire, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension^— Bembstreet^ November 7. Description of RICHARD TAYLOR, a travelling gipsy, charged with stealing on the 29th ultimo, the property' of Mr. James Yeomans, shoemaker, of Offley Brook, Adbaston, Staffordshire : four Awls, a pair of Punches, and pair of Compasses ; he is 2- 1 years of age, 5 feet 10' inches high, slight make, swarthy complexion, black hair, no beard' or whiskers; dressed in a rotrgh black overcoat, black sammy hat; very rough appearance. He travels with his father, two women, two little boys, two donkeys, and a covered cart. They were, traced to within a short distance of Market Dray- ton, going in the direction of Shropshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Crisp, Stone, Staffordshire, or to Sergeant Blakeley, Eccleshall, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,^— Bow- street, November 7. Absconded- on the 31st ultimo, from 34, Castle- street East- Oxford- street, stealing an open faced gold English lever Watch, gold dial, chased back, maker Burrough, Ipswich : a watchmaker, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches ' high, dark com- pletion, hair and eyes, small black whiskers and moustache ; dressed in dark clothes, high hat, and respectable appearance. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, November 4. Absconded from Wisbech, on the 1st instant, charged with larceny : SAMUEL THOMPSON, a labourer, 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, no beard or whiskers ; dressed in an old dark cloth coat, with a Short white slop under it, beaverteen trousers, and cloth cap ; he belongs- tb the Cambridgeshire Militia, and is well known at Grimsby and at the Smithfield Market, Manchester, at both of which places he has worked. Information to be given to Head Constable Sharpe, Wisbeach, Isle of Ely, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 4. Description of EDWARD WILLIAMS, a Royal Marine, who has absconded from Portsmouth charged with stealing £ 5 in Money, three carbuncle Studs set in gold, and a pair of Boots : about 27 years of age, 5 feet 6-|- inches high, stout built, nose turns up, moustache, but no whiskers ( shaved off'); dressed in blue tunic vest and trousers, blue cap witji peak, and blue pea jacket; and carried a small black portmanteau ; he is a native of Devonshire. Information tb be given to Chief Superintendent Barber, Police Station, Portsmouth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, No- vember 4; Description, of EDWARD NIXON STEPHENSON, of the borough, of Newcastle- upon- Tyne, charged with embezzle^ ment, and for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued : he is a commercial traveller, 26 years of age, 6 feet high, brown hair and eyes, fair complexion, long nose, rather bent on one side, thin face, wears his hair parted in the centre, and walks with rather a lounging gait, is a native of Northum- berland ; dressed when he absconded on the 29th ultimo, in a brown top coat, with blue surtout underneath, narrow'black and white striped trousers, and black low crowned hat; it is supposed he will make for some seaport, with a view to leave the country. Eurther information respecting CHARLES BONES, late rate collector at Middlesborough, charged with embezzlement, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 22nd December last : he was seen in Wisbech Market about ten, days ago,. selling pills, & c., and had a conveyance with him, . he has been in India, and at times pretends to be able to teach the Hin- dostanee language. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggersoli, who holds a warrant and will pay all costs on his apprehension..— Bow- street, November 4. Description of ANN TEAR or MARTIN, for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued at Tunbridge Wells, charged with stealing a Watch ( since recovered) on the 21st ultiniF,: about 33 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, light brown frizzled hair; full face, very stout, and supposed - to be near her confinement ; dressed in black bonnet with blue flower on top, old black shawl and dress, and light coloured boots. Has friends keeping a shop at Deptford, Kent. Information to be given to Chief Constable Ember- y, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, Nov. 2. Absconded, charged with stealing on the 20th ultimo, , from a beer- house at Tunbridge Wells, a pair of nearly new " fewd Trousers and a black cloth Vest, a man, 30 years of age, plexion ; a labourer-; supposed to be- wearing the stolen clothes,. and may be found in some Union. Has been several times convicted of felony. Information to be given to Chief Constable Embery, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— - Bow- street, November 2. A man called GINGER DICK, alias WHITBY DICK, alias DICKENSON, is charged on a warrant with breaking and entering the- shop of Richard Harrison, jeweller, of Hull: he is about 34 years of age, about 5 feeft 5 inches high; round face, dark brown hair, whiskers,. and: moustache, beard long and light coloured; generally dressed in woollen cord trousers, blue guernsey under waistcoat, hairy cap, and wears a gold ring, crest— a horse or horse's head1; is a hawker of common jewellery, jet, & c., and travels the country with a black box. Supposed to be a native of Whitby, and to have a relative there, a shoemaker and, bird, fancier. Information to be- given to Chief Constable Cook, Chief Constable's Office, Hull.— Bow- street, November 2. 6 or 7 inches high, stoops, turns his toes out when walking, and'has the mark of a kick from a horse on right cheek; dressed in old dark clothes, with striped waistcoat. It is strongly suspected that he has met with foul treatment. Information to be given to Head Constable Cole, Bridgnorth, Salop.— Bow- street, November 7.
