W.' engraved on inner case, a drawing of Noah's Ark on dial, and steel Chain attached. Information to be given to Superintendent Gwynne, Tarporley, Cheshire.— Bow- street, July 27. Stolen from the person of DAVID EVANS, on the highway from St. George's to Oakengates, on the night of the 25th instant : an old verge Watch, the caps with a small part of the outer case was left, attached to the chain; also a tobacco Pouch, made of red dog skin ; and about £\ lis. in Money. Supposed by two men, from Staffordshire, who had been at a foot race. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Austin, St. George's, Salop.— Bow- street, July 27. Stolen between 4' 45 and 5' 45 p. m. on the 23rd instant, from the person of a lady, at the London- road Railway Station, Manchester, or while going by rail to Marple : a lady's gold lever Watch, No. 1856, engine- turned face, flowered back ; and a short gold plated Guard, link pattern. Jl reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the recovery of the property and conviction of the offender or offenders, on application to Captain Palin, Chief Constable, Town Hall, King- street, Manchester.— — Bow- street, July 27. Stolen from the person of a man at a public- house at Tunbridge Wells, on the 21st instant, a silver pair- case verge Watch, maker Jolm Waddell, Tenterden, No. 96350. Also from the person at a club festival at Tunbridge Wells, on the 20th inst., a small silver verge Watch, maker Newman, London, No. 150, brass hands, ' R. F.' scratched on the inside case, and a dent on the back. Information to be given to Chief Constable Embery, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells.— Bow- street, July 25. Stolen on the 17th instant from the person at Halifax : an English lever silver Watch, engine- turned case, makers Russell and Co., Liverpool, No. 20239, had attached a silver Guard, curb pattern. Also stolen on the 20tli instant from the person : a large old- fashioned heavy gold lever Watch, engine- turned case, worn nearly smooth, white dial, black figures at the half- hour point, slight crack 011 dial near ' 6.' Stolen by means of housebreaking, supposed by tramps, during the night of the 20th instant, from Frongill, near Glynceiriog, the property of Evan Roberts : a pair of woman's leather lace- up Boots, quite new; a pair of blucher Boots, nailed, nearly new, man's size ; two Overcoats, one nearly new, of strong black ribbed cloth; a velvet Jacket, much worn ; a mixture cloth Jacket, nearly new, pockets outside ; 2J yards of cotton Cord, with trimmings for trousers ; a Loaf; and 4 lbs. of Butter. During the night of the 19th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Morgan, of Totmonslow, near Cheadle, was broken into, and stolen therein : a silver Soup Ladle, marked ' J. M.;' two large silver Spoons ; a small Dessert Spoon ; a pair of Sugar Tongs, marked ' J. M. C.;' six silver Tea Spoons ; a silver Sugar Scoop ; three large damask Table- cloths and a small ditto, marked ' J. M. C. eight men's cotton Shirts, linen fronts; a spun silk coloured cricketing Shirt; three woollen Shirts ; a black Inverness Cape ; a | Greatcoat, with velvet collar ; a brown Inverness Cape, with | lavender- coloured lining; a black woollen Jacket ; two pairs of half Boots, button up the side ; and a pair of lace- up Boots, j nearly new, Information to be given to Superintendent | Williams, Leek, or to Sergeant Marshall, Cheadle, Stafford- j shire. — Bow- street, July 22. Description of two men, charged on a warrant with burglary, at the house of Frederick William Kenrick, 21, Queen- street, Horncastle, on the 13th instant, and stealing a quantity, of gentleman's wearing Apparel, part of which has been recovered, found pledged, at Boston : JOHN, alias CUTTY START, about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, black hair and whiskers, roman nose, is supposed to have an old sear in it, from fighting ; dressed when last seen in old white slop, open in front, part of sleeves torn off, worn in the grousers, grey vest over slop, old cord trousers, fly front, have been mended a good deal, light lace- up boots. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 3 and 5 p. m. 011 the 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of John Evans, in the parish of Llanfair, was broken into, and stolen therein : a soft jimcrow Hat with stiff brim, a calico flour Bag, half a loaf of Bread, j- lb. of Butter, - J- lb. of Bacon, and 1 lb. of Sugar. Information to be given at the Superintendent's Office, Welshpool, or to Police Constable Breeze, Llanfair, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, July 27. During the night of the 22nd instant the house of Dr. Sharp, of Broxbourne, was broken and entered, and stolen therein: a Soup Ladle, marked ' R. J. S.;' a Salver, marked 4 R. J. S.,' and crest— peacock 011 a crown— in the centre;, a Tea Spoon, marked ' R. J. S.;' a Medal, about the size of a crown piece; a Tea Scoop, shape of a shell; all silver; an electro- plated Crumber, ivory handle, engraved in different shapes ; a gold Seal, crest— peacock on a crown— and ' Pasta' marked below; a black cloth Waistcoat; a silk Umbrella with ivory, handle and a band of silver below the handle. Information to be given to Inspector Bygrave, Ware, Herts. — Bow- street, July 25. and old grey cap ; and SAMUEL GENTLE, 19 years of age, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light hair, small light downy whiskers, has a peculiar look about his eyes, and very slouching gait ; dressed in old light cap, old dark cloth coat, light vest, old drabbet trousers, torn at knees, very old boots. These men are labourers, but of very idle dissolute habits, they were last seen at Sleaford, at 9 a. m. on the 16th instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Thorsby, Police Station, Horncastle.— Bow- street, July 20. On the night of the l7tli instant the house of Mrs. Harriet Halls, in the parish of Beyton, Suffolk, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 1 large silver Gravy Spoon. 6 silver Table Spoons, two of which are marked ' C. C.,' and two marked ' H.' 16 silver Spoons— 12 tea and 4 salt— fiddle pattern, and marked ' H.' 1 silver Ham Fork with ivory handle. 1 do. Butter Knife, twisted handle. 1 do. Sugar Lifter, marked ' H.' 4 do. Dessert Spoons, marked ' H.' 1 do. Punch Ladle with black handle. 4 do. Tea Spoons, marked ' H. L.' 2 do. Skewers, large size. I pinchbeck Watch and Guard, same colour. 1 gold Brooch, white stone, in middle. 1 do. set with red stones. 1 gold Ring set with purple stones. FREDERICK GILLINGHAM, alias GRAHAM, is charged on a warrant with stealing a Horse and Van, recovered : he is 29 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and moustaolie, ( twisted) ; dressed in dark brown cloth coat, cord trousers, velvet hat, with brim, steel buckle to band, a carpenter ; has been discharged from the army, has friends living at Woolwich and Greenwich. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Mayne, Police Court, Sittingbourne, Kent.— Bow- street, July 22. Stolen between the hours of 9 p. m. on the 15th, and 5 a. m. on the 16th instant, from a field in the occupation of Mr. French, near Stivichall Common, near Coventry : a light bag Gelding, aged, about 14 hands 1 inch high, has black legs, a little white on near hind hoof and fetlock, spavin on each hock, has been docked, has a bang bushy tail, a collar mark on the crest, a fulness 011 the off knee from falling, but no hair off, and is in good working condition, Whoever will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and convictiou of the offender or offenders, will receive a reward of 5 guineas from the Combe, Binley, and Warwickshire Association for the Prosecution of Felons, and 5 guineas from Mr. French. Information to be given to Inspector Galloway, Iienilworth, or to Police Constable Webb, Earlsdon.— Bow- street, July 20. 1 do. Pin set with green stones. 1 do. Pin set with lilac stones. 1 do. Pin with woman's head on it. 1 do. square Brooch set with lilac stones and glass centre. 1 pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' H.' on bow. 2 gold Watch Seals. 2 do. Keys and Ring. 1 silver Pencil Case with days of the month on it. Half- a- crown, 2 Shillings, a 3d. Piece, and six or seven Farthings. By two men, middling size, who entered Mrs. Hall's bedroom; one was dressed in black coat, drab trousers, dark vest, plaid scarf, and had a bag over his head with holes opposite his eyes, and had a moustache ; the other was dressed in a black coat, and had a black handkerchief over his face, and wore a blue and white neckerchief; two other ineu are supposed to LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of THOMAS BENTLEY KEELING, clerk and commercial traveller, late in the employ of Mr. John Nunnerly, slate, lime, and coal merchant, Warrington, Lanca- shire, charged on warrant with embezzling £ 22 17s. : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair ( no parting), whiskers, and moustache, hazel eyes, high forehead, stout build, inclined to corpulence, and walks stiff, as if lame ; dressed in fine dark blue cloth coat and vest, bound with black braid, dark mixture trousers, purple striped shirt, and black felt hat; he is known in business circles in Manchester and Liverpool. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hunt, Warrington, or to Superintendent Steen, Altrincham, Cheshire.— Bow- street, July 27. Abs'conded from Brighton on the 25th instant, charged with stealing £ 30, the money of his employers, Messrs. Smart and Brown, Queen's- Road, Brighton : CHARLES MARTIN, Stolen by means of housebreaking at Southweald, on the 18th instant : a gold Bracelet; a gold Albert Chain, with small links ; a gold Pin ; four silver Tea Spoons ; two silver Salt Spoons, fiddle pattern ; a silver Fish Knife and Fork ; a silver Butter Knife, with twisted handle ; a silver Fork; a grey cloth Overcoat, very much worn; and a lady's Com- panion, with silver Thimble, Scissors, and Crochet Hook. Information to be given at the Police Station, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- street, July 22. During the night of the 18th instant, the dwelling- house of the Rev. M. Thompson, of Lucker, Northumberland, was broken and entered, and stolen therein ; supposed by tramps : an Umbrella ; a walking Cane, with a head of a peculiar kind of wood, has a hole in it but filled up with composition, the gold rim is off the cane, but the eyelets, which are of gold, are left iu ; a felt Hat; a Scotch Cap ; a leather Bag ; a silver Pencil- case; and a small silver Medal. Information to be given to Superintendent Marshall, Lowick, Northumberland. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a field in Stockport, on the 23rd instant, a black Mare, 3 years old, 14 hands high, cut tail, a few grey hairs 011 the forehead. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Moores, or to Mr. John Slack, provision dealer, Higher Hillgate, Stockport.— Bow- street, July 27. The bay Horse advertised in the Police Gazette of the 20th inst., as stolen from a field at Mentley, in the parish of Standon, has been recovered, and DAVID GREGORY, of Hault- wick, in the parish of Little Munden, charged with stealing the same, is remanded till the 30th instant. Information to be given to Inspector Bygrave, ^ Ware, Herts.— Bow- street, July 25. Stolen from a field at High Halden, Kent, 011 the night of the 10th instant, the property of James Valentine, a brown Horse,, black legs, mane and tail, from 14 to 15 hands high, about 12 y<? ars old, and has a small lump on outside of the off hind leg, and white spots on back under saddle. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Morgan, Police Station, Cranbrook, Kent.— Bow- street, July 25. Stolen on the night of the 20th instant: two shearling Sheep, the property of John Core, the younger, from a Close in Hirt's Grounds, adjoining Peterborough Common. They were branded ' J. CV on the rump, and conveyed away in a cart, the wheels of which were tracked from the Close. Who- ever will give such information as may lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, will be entitled to £ 6 6s. reward. i Information to be given to Superintendent Smith, Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire.— Bow- street. July 25. A man named JOHN READ, hired a Horse or Henry Rolph, High Wycombe, to draw a cart to Uxbridge, on the 15th instant, and not having returned it, he is charged with stealing the same :- it is a light bay Cob, about 14 hands high, two splints below the knee inside, has lately been down, both knees chopped. Read is about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, and one of his eyelids drop ; dressed in a light jacket, light low- crowned hat, and rather tight- fitting trousers. He was formerby a labourer, working' in a garden at Leighton Buzzard, Beds, about 10 years ago, and has lately been living at Felgate Mews, Studley- street, Hammersmith. He goes from towri to town with a horse and large market cart, painted green, and the name of ' John Read, gardener, Leighton Buzzard,' written on it. On the 24th ultimo, he sold a light bay Mare, 6 years old, in good condition, and very handsome. On the 15th instant he sold a bi- own Horse, about 15 hands 2 inches high, in working condition, has a small swelling on the off hind leg, in the out- side of the fetlock joint, has a plain head, and is aged ; these horses are supposed to have been stolen. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Lincoln, about 9 a. m. on the 25th instant: an open face silver Geneva Watch, No. 13- 782, < a silver Albert Chain, and a plated Albert Chain with Locket1 attached. By a tramping blacksmith, who lodged in the house ; he ID about - 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, thin features, no whiskers, small moustache, and small tuft of hair on chin ; dressed in round black billycock hat, black coat, fustian trousers and vest; has an anchor, cross, and hfeart on right arm, and ' Faith, hope, and charity' encircled round them, A pocket knife with ' John Cook' engraved on the plate is in his possession. He said he came from Derby, where lie had a - wife and three children living. Information to be given to Chief Constable Mansell, Lincoln.— Bow- street, July 27: Description of ANN DONAHOE, for whose apprehen- sion a warrant has been issued, charging her with larceny at Hastings, on the 21st instant: she is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 2- or 3 inches high, red face, slightly freckled, inclined to be stout, has lost her thumb off the left hand ; dressed in a - white $ traw- bonnet, old plaid shawl, dark brown dress, with red stripes. Information'to, be given to Chief- Superin- tendent Glenistef, Town Hall, Hastings. - Bow- street, Julytil. Stolen on the night of the 24th instant, from a dwelling- house at Armathwaite, the property of J ohn Reay, farmer : a woollen Bag, containing a £ 10 Note, and £ 2 in Gold ; and a canvas or jean Purse, containing £ 1 10s. in Gold, and 10s. in Silver. By CHRISTOPHER WHITE, a navvy, a native of Cockermouth, Cumberland, about 23 years of age, about 6 feet high, little or po whiskery light hair, slender figure, and of drunken habits ; dressed in a dirty white slop, mole- skin trousers, Scotch bonnet, and old boots. He. lias lately been employed as a driver upon the new Railway Works at Arjnatliwaite, and may again obtain employment on the same line; or he may try to make his way into Scotland. Absconded on the 16th instant, from No. 3, Leinster- street, Paddington, stealing £ 23 10s. : a man, 37 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, clean shaven ; dressed in grey tweed shooting coat, light cloth trousers, lace- up boots, and billycock l\ nX.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, July 27. Absconded on the 13th inst., from No. 44, Castle- street, Oxford- market, stealing a gold English lever Watch, - f- plate, maker Beard, the property of his master : a man, 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 ipches high, sallow complexion, black hair, whiskers, and moustache, shaved on chin ; dressed in black frock coat, dark trousers and vest, and black deerstalker hat; parents reside in Wandsworth- road.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, July 27. Absconded on the 22nd instant, from Messrs. Peak, Frean, and Co..' s factory, Dockhead, Bermondsey, stealing £ 150 : a book keeper, 30 years of age, 5 feet 7£ inches high, dark complexion, dark curly hair, thin face, high cheekbones ; dressed in black suit, deep band on hat, respectable appear- ance, speaks French, and it is supposed he will go to France. — Metropolitan Police, M Division, July 27. Stolen on the 25th instant, from North Ormesby, Middlesborough, the property of Mr. Robert Walker: a pinchbeck Watch, gold coloured face, with seconds, hour hand broke, had attached a silver albert Guard, links of three high, lig- ht hair, and fresli complexion ; dressed in black billy- cock hat, grey mixture cCat with pockets on the hips, tight- fitting dark grey striped trousers with dark stripe down the side, and very old elastiStside boots. Information to be given to Chief Constable Einbery, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells.— Bow- street, July 25. Stolen from Dudleston, on the 20th instant, a pair of men's strong lace- up Boots, half worn, two or three nails out of the toe of each boot; ana a pair of cotton Stockings, the property of John Gough : by JOHN HAYWARD, a discharged soldier, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8| inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, and oval face ; dressed in dark trousers, and white slop or jacket; frequents low public- houses, and may seek employment at a farm house. Has been previously convicted of felony. Information to. be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to Sergeant Duncan', Ellesmere, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.—. Baw- sireeJ, July 25. Absconded on the 19th instant, embezzling various sums of money of his master, a coal merchant, of Leytonstone : a man, 37 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy complexion, light brown hair and whiskers, full face, stout; supposed dressed in pepper- and- salt Cambridge coat, pockets 011 hips, light trousers and vest, high black hat, and • Wellington boots; walks lame, and has friends living in Wilson- street, Finsbury. — Metropolitan Police, N Division, July 22. Stolen about 3 p. m. on the 19th inst., from the dwelling- house of Samuel Hulse, of Chorley, Cheshire : a black cloth Coat, with pockets on the hips ; a pair of elastic- side Boots ; a black leather Bag, containing a Beady- reckoner ; and a painter's tool Bass. By a lodger, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, a painter; dressed in a black cloth coat, black low- crowned liat, and white, trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, County Constabulary Office, Macclesfield, Cheshire.— Bow- street, July 22. Description of HENRY NEW, who is charged with stealing 14s. on the 21st ultimo, at Cleobury Mortimer : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slender make, sallow complexion, thick lips, long nose, dark brown hair, and shaves nearly all his" whiskers Off, leaving a little at top; dressed in dark coat and vest, supposed to be wearing cord trousers, and black round felt hat. He is travelling about canvassing and collecting for The Royal Albsrt Legal Friendly Society, Chief Office, Wrottesley- street, Smallbrook- street, Birmingham, he also hawks tea ; he is rather shabbily dressed, but always wears a clean white collar. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Collis, Salop. Constabulary, Police Station, Cleobnry Mortimer, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 20. The other about the same age and height ; dressed in a suit of black cloth clothes and cap. They left near the house a pair of clogs, one has a clasp, the clasp of the other is broken.
