ROBBERY AID LARCENY THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of ft man at a public- house at Tunbridge Wells, on the 21st instant, a silver pair- case verge Watch, maker John Waddell, Tenterden, No. 96350. Also from the person at a club festival at Tunbridge Wells, on the 20th inst., a small silver verge Watch, maker Newman, London, No. 150, brass hands, ' R. During the night of the 22nd instant the house of Dr. Sharp, of Broxbourne, was broken and entered, and stolen therein: a Soup Ladle, marked ' R. J. S.;' a Salver, marked ' R. J. S.,' and ( crest— peacock on a crown— in the centre; a Tea Spoon, marked ' R. J. Keys and Ring. 1 silver Pencil Case with days of the month on it. Half- a- crown, 2 Shillings, a 3d. Piece, and six or seven Hammersmith. He goes from town to town with a horse and large market cart, painted green, and the name of ' John Read, gardener, Leighton Buzzard,' written on it. On the 24th ultimo, he sold a light bay Mare, 6 years old, in good condition, and very handsome. On the 15th instant he sold a brown Horse, about 15 hands 2 inches high, in working condition, has a small swelling on the off hind leg, in the out- side of the fetlock joint, has a plain head, and is aged ; these horses are supposed to have been stolen. Supposed to have been stolen from Glanusk Park, near Crickhowell, during the night of the 18th inst., the property of Sir Joseph Russel Bailey, Bart., M. On the night of the 15th instant a valuable black- faced ewe Sheep was slaughtered in a field at Streethay Farm, near Lichfield, the property of Mr. William Taylor. The head and entrails were left in the field. £ 3 3s. reward is offered. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Oswell, Burton- on- Trent, to Sergeant Bason, Shenstone, or any Police Station in the county of Stafford.— Bow- street, July 18. LARCENY AMD EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of WILLIAM SIMMONS, alias RUNTY, charged on a warrant with stealing four Sacks of Barley ( recovered), the property of James Tompsett, at East Peckham, Kent: 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark com- plexion, whiskers, which are very straight, meeting under the chin ; dressed in black cloth trousers and monkey jacket, and billycock hat ; is a labourer, and a native of Hadlow, Kent, and sometimes deals in pigs. Information to be given to Superintendent Hulse, Police Court, West Mailing, Kent.— Bow- street, July 25. Absconded from Saint Andrews, on the 14th instant, charged with larceny : THOMAS HAWKINS, a carpenter, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, light j hair, has a red mark on the face/ under the check bone, with a little hair growing upon it ; dressed ill white slop jacket, light trousers and vest, black cloth cap with peak, and elastic- side boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Mear, Williton, Somersetshire.— Bow- street, July 25. Stolen on the 23rd instant, from a bedroom at Tunbridge Wells, the property of Rosa Wood, a lady's small open- face silver Geneva Watch, the dial slightly discoloured at the figure 12. By a tailor, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light hair, and fresh complexion ; dressed in black billy- cock hat, grey mixture coat with pockets on the hips, tight- fitting dark grey striped trousers with dark stripe down the side, and very old elastic- side boots. Stolen from Dudleston, on the 20th inst* nt, a pair of men's strong lace- up Boots, half worn, two or three nails out of the toe of each boot, and a pair of cotton Stockings, the property of John Gough: by JOHN HAYWARD, a discharged soldier, 28 years of age, o feet inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, and oval face ; dressed in dark trousers, and white slop or jacket; frequents low public- houses, and may seek employment at a farm house. Has been previously convicted of felony. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to Sergeant ' Duncan, Ellesmere, Salop, who holds a warrant for liis apprehension.— BoW- street, July 25. Absconded on the _ 19th instant, embezzling various sums of money of his master, a coal merchant, of Leytonstone : a man, 37 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy complexion, light brown hair and whiskers, full face, stout; supposed dressed in pepper- and- salt Cambridge coat, pockets oil hips, light trousers and vest, high black hat, and Wellington boots; walks lame, and has friends living in Wilson- street, Finsbury. — Metropolitan Police, N Division, July 23, Stolen about 3 p. m. on the 19th iust., from the dwelling- house of Samuel Hulse, of Chorley, Cheshire : . a black cloth Coat, with pockets on the hips ; a pair of elastic- side Boots ; a black leather Bag, containing a Ready- reckoner ; and a painter's tool Bass. By a lodger, about 24 yeare of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, a painter; dressed in a black cloth coat, black low- crowned hat, and white trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, County Constabulary Office, Macclesfield, Cheshire.— Bent- street, July 22. Description of HENRY NEW, who is charged with stealing 14s. on the 21st ultimo, at Cleobury Mortimer : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slender make, sallow complexion, thick lips, long nose, dark brown hair, and shaves nearly all his whiskers off, leaving a little at top; dressed in dark coat and vest, supposed to be wearing cord trousers, and black round felt hat. He is travelling about canvassing and collecting for The Royal Albert Legal Friendly Society, Chief Office, Wrottesley- street, Smallbrook- street, Birmingham, he also hawks tea ; he is rather shabbily dressed, but alwayw wears a clean white collar. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Collis, Salop Constabulary, Police Station, Cleobury Mortimer, who holds a warrant for his ftpprehension.-- A> i£:- street, July 20. Stolen from the borough of Faversham, about the 7th ultimo, a large green two- handled Truck, with - springs and overflowing body, wooden railings, and spindled top. By a man about 24 rears of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, fresh complexion, thick set, active looking, and slightly pockpitted ; dressed in a fustian coat and low- crowned hat; has the appearance of a travelling fishmonger, and frequents the towns in East Kent. Information to be given to Superinten- dent White, Police Office, Faversham, Kent.— Bow- street, July 20. Stolen on the 12th instant, from a dwelling- house at Sowerby Bridge : a grey cloth Overcoat with velvet collar, raised seams, two outside pockets in skirts, a- zid one outside left breast, much worn ;. also an old pair of black cloth Trousers with fly fronts. By a lodger named GEORGE JUDD, 31 years of age, but looks older, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, black hair and whiskers round the chin, slender build; and has lost the upper front teeth, and is a mechanic or machine planer ; dressed in stolen coat and trousers, black vest, and overall hardens. Information to be given to Superintendent Ormesby, West Riding Constabulary Office, Halifax, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 20. Absconded oil the 16tli instant, from No. 28, Leicester- square, embezzling £ 54 6s. 7d. : a porter, 36 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark complexion and hair ( cut short), grey eyes, is a Scotchman, has served in the 73rd Foot, and speaks in an effeminate voice; dressed in an old brown mixture shooting coat, grey mixture trousers and vest, and deerstalker hat.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, July 20. Absconded on the 15th instant, from 211, Hoxton- street, Hoxton, stealing 30s. in Silver : a youth, 16 years of age ; a servant.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, July 20. A warrant is issued for the apprehension of THOMAS STEVENS, on a charge of larceny. He is a native of Averham, near Newark, Nottinghamshire, and has been pre- viously convicted of larceny ; is about 2- 5 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high : dressed in dark clothes and black billy- cock hat ; is in the habit of staying at hotels, stating that liis father sent him there for the benefit of his health, and has a very feminine voice. All reasonable expenses will be paid on his apprehension. Information to be given to Superintendent Rudkin, Borough Police Station, Grantham, Lincolnshire.— Bmo- street, July 20. with stealing J12 in Gold; a gold Pin with square head ; a black frock Coat, double- breasted, with pockets behind, a young snail, who said he was a clerk, and is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, black hair, parted in the centre, no whiskers, the eyelid droops over 1 left eye ; dressed in a black ribbed coat and vest, coarse cloth, double breasted, snuff- coloured plaid trousers, elastic- side boots with black buttons up the side, hard black felt hat, and has a watch and J^ old albert chain. He took lodgings at a house in Cardiff,' and remained tliree days and nights, and during the absence of the family opened the boxes and stole the above property ; , he left behind him a black glazed bag containing two bundles of sticks wrapped up in a piece of brown paper. Information to be given to Deputy Superin- tendent Horne, Cardiff, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, Description of.' JOHN WILKINS, who, has absconded from Portsmouth, charged with embezzlement : he is about 41 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, brown hair, turning grey, grey eyes, fresh complexion, full face, short neok, stout built, soft voice, and quiet manner, when walking he carries his head very erect, turns his toes in, and usually carries his left hand across his loins ; he is accompanied by his wife, about 38 or 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, light hair, light^ lu e eyes, sharp features, and speaks very quickly : he is supposed to have a largo sum of money in his possession, and is believed to be endeavouring to quit the country, probably for America. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Barber, Portsmouth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 20. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Obtained by false pretences at Tunbridge, on the 14th instant: four pairs of Trousers, three Vests, three Coats, two Hats, and one Shirt. By FREDERICK BROWN, 17 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light hair, rather curly; dressed in blue ribbed coat, dark trousers, and black hat, quartered on the top; may be wearing some of the articles. A warrant is issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Kent Constabulary, Tunbridgfe.— Bow- street, July 25. watch and gold chain in his possession, and carried a black leather bag marked ' C. M.'
