Description of JAMES COOPER, charged upon a war- rant with having uttered a forged Bill of Exchange, at Duns- table, on ti e 2nd April last: about 3o years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, freali complexion, sandy moustache and whiskers, has a soft voice, aud nods bis head frequently when talking ; is supposed to be dressed in light coloured clothes and black felt hat. He has resided at Tring, aud was in the boot trade ; be formerly lived at Chesham, and has relations at Thame and West Wickham. Stolen from the person at Penrith, on ihe 20th June : three Sovereigns, one Half- Sovereign, and about 7s. Gd. ia Silver ; also an old leather Purse with one compartment, con- taining £ 2 10s. in Gold and several Shillings ; and aa old leather Purse, containing one Sovereign, a few Shillings, and some Pence. Stolen on the 22nd instant, from the person of a gentleman, whilst on the race- course at C ewer, a silver Geneva Watch, No. 31648 or 31619, eight holes jewelltd, gilt chain, with gold locket, gold s; al with amethyst stone, and gold button- hole bar in the form of an Armstrong gun. Description of REUBEN ATKINSON, charged at Barns- ley with stealing a Sovereign from the person of Jarvis Haigh, on the 21st instant: he is 23 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, a collier by trade, a native of Barnsley, last resided at Worsboroughdale, near Barnsley, of imperfect education, cut mark left side of forehead, aud two or three teeth out in front; dressed in blue and green plaid suit, small pattern, and black velvet cf. p. Stolen from the person while on the Beverley Race Course, on the 16th instant : a silver lever Watch, No. 4536, also an old- fashioned silver Watch, maker Joseph Harnett, Sevenoaks, No. 258, ' W. C.' in the inside case. Information to be given at the Head Constable's Office, Town Hall, Beverley.— Bow street, June 22. WM0LARY AIB SOTOS Between 1 and 2 a. m. on the 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of John Stanley Wakeley, of Rainham, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a pair of gold Sleeve Links, with Forget- me not flowers; a gold Stud; and a brown Tobacco Pouch. By a man, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, and dressed in dirty light clothes ; a pair of soldier's Boots were left behind. Information to be given to Superintendent Mayne, Police Court, Sittingbourne, Kent — Bow- street, June 29. Between 3 and 8 pan on the 2oth instant, the cottage of Edward Evans, called 4 Tyn- y- fownog,' in the parish of Dolanog, Montgomeryshire, was broken into aud a pair of1 woollen cord Trousers stolen therein, having a wasch pocket, two other pockets, white horn buttons, aud calico linings. Supposed by a tramp, about 30 years of age, from 5 feet 7 to 9 inches high, sandy hair, stout built; aud dressed in an old Between 11 p. m. on the 24th and 6 a. m. on the 26th inst., the residence of His Grace the Duke of Somerset, Bulstrode- park, Bucks, was entered and the> following property stolen therein : four Table Spoons, two Gothic pattern, two with crest— a crown and hart; fourteen plain plated Tea Spoons ; five Table Forks, one Gothic pattern, four marked with ' S.;' seven Dessert Spoons, with crest — phoenix in crown ; two Salt Spoons, one with a goat and shield, the other a tree ; and four- teen Dessert Forks, some Gothic pattern, some marked ' S.,' and the others with crest— a tree. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bon- street, June 27. During the night of the 22nd instant, the cottage of Thos. Edmonds, of Ludgershall, was burglariously entered, and the following articles stolen therein : a flag Basket, with leather strap ; ten Eggs; two home- baked Loaves, one 3 lbs., the other 6 lbs ; J- lb. of Cheese ; j- lb. of Lard ; a brass tobacco Box ; a snuff Box ; and a table Knife ; all of which have since beeu found in a field near Ludgershall, excepting the eatables and the leather basket strap, which has been mended in the middle, and has a brass buckle on one end of it. Sup- posed by a tramp who wa3 begging in Ludgershall early on the morning of the 23rd instant: about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion ; dressed in dark clothes and billycock hat. Between 12 p. m. 22nd and 6 a. m. on the 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Lewis Waters, situate near Chepstow, was burglariously entered, and the following Articles stolen therein : 1 electro- plated Fish Knife and Fork, with white handles, marked 4 L. S. W.' 1 electro plated Butter Knife, with white handle. 2 silver Table Spoons, marked ' L. S. W.' 2 silver Table Spoons, marked ' M. C.' 1 silver Table Spoon, marked 4 C.' 6 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' L. S. W.' 5 silver Tea Spoons, marked 4 S. H.' 3 silver Tea Spoons, marked 4 A. J. B.' 1 pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked 4 S. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Usk ; to Superintendent Llewellyn, Usk ; or to Inspector Ward, Chepstow, Monmouthshire.— Bow- street, June 27. Between 12 midnight and 5 a m. on the 25th instant, the house and shop occupied by William Watson Webster, of South Stockton, grocer, was broken and entered into, and the following articles stolen therein : a pair of man's blucher Boots, recently soled, with three brass eyelets in each side ; about £ 1 worth of Postage and Receipt Stamps ; about 7s. or 8?. in copper Coin ; a small quantity of Tea ; and a Bottle, containing a quantity of Sweats. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Simpson, North Riding Constabulary, South Stockton.' Bow- street, June 27. The house of Berjamin Clover, of Battisford, in the county of Suffolk, labourer, was broken into on the 16th inst. betwiyi 4 and 7 p m , and the following property stolen there from : a suit of Clothes, 5s. 6d. in Money, and an old silver pair case Watch, cracked on the dial at the figure * 1,' steel Chain, common Seal, three sixpenny, two fourpenny, and two threepenny Pieces attached. By a man of the following description : about 27 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, pockmarked, few whiskers, and square shoulders ; dressed in white slop or jacket, cord trousers, and cloth cap. He was traced to Colchester on the 18th instant, where he sold the suit of clothes, and is supposed to be making his way to London, and to have the watch in his possession. Information to be given to Police Constable Bragg, Police Station, Barking, or to inspector Foster, Needham Market, East Suffolk.— Bow- street, June 27. Between 11 p. m. on the 23rd and 6 a. m. on the 24th inst,., the dwelling house of Mr. James Seabrooke, of Gray's Thurrock, was burglariously entered aud the following articles stolen therein, viz, : an electro- plated Toast Rack, a plain silver tea- caddy Spoon, five silver Thimbles, a dark grey tweed Coat, about half worn out; a box of Cigars, name of 4 Soole' on the box, and about 24- i. in Silver. Information to be given to Sergeant Freeman, Police Station, Orsett, or to Police Constable ( 196) Pratt, Gray's Thurrock, Essex.— Bow- street, Jmne 27, Between 1 and 10 p. m. on the 20th instant, Alton Manor Lodge, occupied by Thomas Green, was broken into and stolen therein : a dark coloured Coat and Vest, bottom button off the vest ; a pair of pepper and salt coloured woollen Trousers, and two striped ( purpie, dark and light) woollen Shirts, all about half worn. Information to be given to Superintendent, Sharpe, Police Office, Wicksworth, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, June 24. Description of ANN JONES, a domestic servant, against whom a warrant has been issued, for burglariously breaking out of the dwelling- house of Mr. Richard Everall, of Carding- ton, Salop, on the night of the 6th instant, and stealing therein : a green Dress, with drab lining and trimmed with green braid ; a cashmere Shawl, cream and brown in centre aud blue border, hair, long visage, stout, flat- footed, and waB slightly lame from having sprained an ancle; she is a native of Church Stretton, Salop, and was partly reared in the Union. She was in Salop Gaol on a charge of vagrancy in May, 1863; in Manchester Gaol on May 2nd, 1867, union misdemeanant, two months ; same gaol, June lst, 1867, union misdemeanant, 14 days; same gaol, August 19th, 1867, union misdemeanant, one month ; and was tried at the Salop Assizes on July 28th, 1869, and sentenced to two months' imprisonment for burglary. Stolen from Nibley Villa, near Wotton- under- Edge, Glou- cestershire, by means of housebreaking, on the night of the 22nd instant: a small oval sugar Basin, with two handles, a small rouud sugar Basin, formerly a saucepan, marked * M. A. C.' or • D. E. H.,' and showing where handle was taken off, a pair of sugar Tongs, a large soup Ladle, plain, marked 4 M. A. C.,' three tea Spoons, marked 1D. E. H.,' and a fish Slice, all silver ; six fish Knives ; one dessert Knife, Fork and Spoon ; two nut Crackers, plated ; two single eye Glasses, and a new dark silk Umbrella, with glazed case. Information to be given to Superiatendent Hewson, Dursley, Gloucester.— Bow- street, June 24, HORSE AMD CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a meadow at Everley, on the night of the 25th instant, a grey nag Mare, 6 years old, about 15 hands high, thick make, rather long head, spotted about the hind quarters, scar over off eye, white spot on one of her knees, which have been slightly broken. Also, from a stable, on the same night, an old Bridle and S iddle, with one new girth, the property of Mr. Turtell. Supposed by a man, a native of Collingbourn, Wilts, who had worked two days on the form : he ia about 33 years of age, 6 feet 5 or 6 inches high, rather sandy short hair, stout make ; dressed iri an old rough dark coat or monkey jacket with large buttons, snuff- coloured round- topped hat, supposed » oft, aud cord trousers, which are strapped up under the knees with narrow straps such as navvies wear ; has worked as a navvy, has been in the habit of going about the country with borse dealers, and was seen with tbe stolen horse about- noon on the 26th instant, going in the direction of ReadiDg, oa his way to London. I age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, brown Stolen from a field at Llangynnider, on the night of the 23rd instant, the property of J. P. Snead, Esq. : a black cart Mare, 4 years old, about 15 hands high, in good condition, and has been recently working in harness. Information to be given to Superintendent Evans, Breconshire Constabulary, Crickhowell.— Bow- street, June 29. Stolen from a meadow at Chilham, a bright bay mare Cob, 13 or 14 hands higb, rising 8 years old, white star on forehead, few white hairs from saddle mark, had on a leathern halter recently mended. By a man, about 5 feet 7 inches higb, 40 years of age, downcast look, very dark complexioD, few black whiskers, and black hair ; dressed in dark coat, black cord trousers, dark cap, crown quartered and narrow rim. £ 5 reward will be paid ( if recovered) on the conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen from the mountain near Penrhewcradoc Farm, in the parish [ of Llanwinno, since the 22nd instant, a light bay diaught Mare, 16 or 16 hands high, aged, black mane, black switch tail, a deep scar on outside of upper part of near thigbr, near the tail, the property of William Morgan, Penrhewcradoc Farm, Llanwinno. Information to be given to Superintendent Thomas, Constabulary Office, Merthyr Tydvil, Glamorganshire. — Bow- street, June 27. Stolen from Chalfont St. Peters, Bucks, on the night of the 24th instant, the property of Stephen Robinson, a black Horse, about 15 hands high, in fair condition, shod with leather between the shoe and hoof of fore feet, and the near hock is larger than tbe other. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street,, June 27. Found at Berkswell, near Coventry, on the 20th instant, and supposed to have been stolen : a dark brown Horse, aged, 13 hands high, in good condition, hind legs white, star on forehead, and hair rubbed off on near shou'der from collar. Information to be given to Inspector Gallaway. Warwickshire Constabulary, Kenilworth.— Bow- itreet, June 27. Obtained by means of false pretences, on the 22nd instant, at Shipston- on Stour Fair, from Richard Caswell, a grey Mare, 6 years old, 15J hands high, fired hocks, mark on near flank about the size of a walnut. By a man, between 40 and 50 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, sandy complexion, and light brown whiskers ; dressed in a dark tweed overcoat, black cloth undercoat, grey trousers, and high- crowned hat. A reward of £ 5 will be paid on his apprehension and recovery of the mare. Information to be givea to Superintendent Thompson, Police Station, Shipston- on- Stour, Warwickshire.— Bow- st., June 27. Stolen on the night of the 3lBt ultimo, from Streatham, Surrey : two Houses, one a dark bay Horse, aged, 15 hands 2 inches high, roman face, one lower tooth broken, small white mark on. near hind fetlocks lock tail, and in good condition ; the other is a bay Mare, 6 years old, 14 hands 2 inches high, star on forehead, and broken knees.— Metropolitan Police, W Dili- sion, June 24, XAROEFY A'fB EMBEZZLEMSSWT Absconded on the 24th instant. Btealing £ 300 : GEORGE DEFER, a Frenchman, late of 27, Brimington- road, Peckham, 32 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, proportionate build, dark brown hair and moustache, small, no whiskers, dark com- plexion, very broad nose, grey eyes, shuffling walk, very fat hands, and small short nails, speaks English imperfectly. In- formation to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E, C.— Bow- it., June 29. Stolen from the shop of Joseph Brown, at Billingshurst., on the 21st instant: a silver hunting Watch, top part of case taken off, No. 37179, maker David Baker, Billingshurst; and a silver Albert Guard, square pattern, red stone in the Key, small piece broken out. By a man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, light complexion, sandy hair cut short, thin face, no whiskers, walks upright, and blue ink marks on back of one hand ; dressed in a blue guernsey, blue trousers, and dark cloth cap with straight peak ; he is a tramp, and has a few small books with him. Information to be given to Superintendent Kemmish, West Sussex Constabulary, Pet- worth.— Bow- street, June 29. Description of THOMAS BROCKETT, a clerk, charged with embezzlement at Middlesborough : he is about 23 years of age, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, lair complexion, full face, light brown hair, small whiBkejs, a native of Gateshead- on- Tyne, and is unwell, and may be under medical treatment.. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Saggerson, Borough Police, Middlesborough, who holds a warrant and will p » y all expenses on his apprehension.— Bow- st., June 29. Further information respecting the gold Geneva Watch and seven Sovereigns stolen from the Plough Inn, Worth, on the 4th instant, and advertis d in the Police Gazette of the 6th instant: the watch h-- s since been recovered, and a warrant issued for the apprehension of CORNELIUS LEONARD, alias PHIPKIN, 21 years of age, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache ( thin), slight figure ; dressed in black coat and trousers, white slop under jaoket, black billycock hat, sometimes wears a silver guard Chain, with Key. and two or three small Coins attached. He is supposed to have been brought up in Aylesbury Workhouse, Bucks, aud last, resided at Portsea, Hants. Information to be given to Superintendent Kennard, East Grinstead, who holds the warrant.— Brno- street, June 29. Absconded from Southampton, on the 25th iDstant, charged with stealing four Tubs of Butter, from Southampton Docks: a dock labourer, 21 years of age, 6 feet 6J inches high, grey eyes, dark brown hair, no whiskers, sallow complexion, and has an inpediment in his speech; dressed in dark monkey jacket, blue worsted guernsey, militia trousers, patched ou both knees, blue cloth cap, and heavy boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Breary, Southampton,— Bow- street, June 29. Absconded, a man of the following description, who lodged at the ' Antelope' Inn, Blandford, from the 18th to the 21st instant : about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, small whiskero, rather slight and meeting under the chin, and proportionate make ; dressed in_ black coat, brown vest, dark cord trousers, black felt hat, red shirt with black stripes, three pearl buttons on frout, and heavy lace- up boots. He is charged with stealing a gold Geneva Watch, No. 16083, flowered face, a lady's Jong gold Chain attached ; a Bilver enaine- turned Geneva Watcb, No. 5966, • F' scratched on centre of outer case, a small gold Albert Chain attached ; two pairs Ear- rings, one horse- shoe pattern, the Other round ; a gold Keeper, a Brooch, with red ring and gold leaves ; a gold Locket, without glass ; a Guinea, with a ring attached ; a gold Fusee- box, with a ring attached, about 2j in. loDg, about | in. wide, £ in. deep ; and a gold Pin, twis ed head. Information to be given to Superintendent Brown, Dorset Constabulary, Blandford.— Bow- street, June 29. Absconded on the 13th instant, embezzling various sums of money belonging to his employer : a carman, 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, no whiskers, lull moustache ; dressed in a light mixture Oxford overcoat, dark double breasted vest, dark trousers, splashed with paint, lace- up boots, and black velvet hat ; has friends at Eastbourne, Sussex.— Metropolitan Police, E Divi- sion, June 27. Absconded on the 20th instant, from Penge, embezzling various sums of Money, the property of his employers: a man, 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, swarthy complexion, and black hair and eyes ; dressed in white linen jacket, dark mixture trousers, black cloth vest, round felt hat, and lace- up boots with eyelets.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, June 27. Absconded on the morning of the 25th instant, stealing about £ 120 in Gold, Silver, and Notes, with which he was entrusted to take to the bank, a clerk of the following descrip- tion : about 17 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh com- plexion, dark brown hair, inclined to be stout, and rather round shouldered ; dressed in black coat, torn under the arms, grey trousers, and black felt hat: he is single, and resided at King- street, Westminster, Information to be given to the Head Constable, Borough Police Office, Maidstone, Kent.— Bow- street, June 27. Description of JAMES DECKS, labourer, who absconded from East Tilbury, Essex, on the 15th instant, charged with Btealing from his lodgings, the property of Sarah Baker : an old double- cased silver Watch, no minute hand or glass, has a brown cotton Guard with two old Keys attached, and £ Z 10a. in Gold ; he is 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, sal- low complexion, light brown hair, whiskers shaved off, a large scar on left side of face and neck, and one on left arm, from burns when he was a child. Supposed to be dressed in a dark pilot jacket, torn lining, light fustian trousers, cheese- cutter cap, has a flower worked in front with black silk, and stated when he left that he was going to Chatham or Dover. Infor- mation to be given to Sergeant Freeman, Police Station, Orsett, Essex, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- Street, June 27. Absconded on the 20th instant, embezzling various sums of Money, a Baker, 35 yearB of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, fair complexion, hair, nnd whiskers, and grey eyes; dressed in dark coat and vest, drab trousers, and black hat.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, June 24. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Margaret Lenton, of Bagellt- road, Flintshire, on the 21st instant: a snuff- co oured tweed Waistcoat, a red and yellow Necktie, a Collar, two pairs of grey Stockings, a pair of elastic- side B > ots with eyele holes on the instep, and £ 5 in Gold. By a lodger, who said his name waa GEORGE SMITH, a collier, who said first he belonged to Cugleatonecliffe, Yorkshire, and afterwards to Rotherham : he iB 22 years of . age, about 6 feet 9 incues high, stout, smart appearance, black hair, very small moustache and whiskers, dark complexion, and bow- legged ; dressed in round at Keighley with felony ; he is 27 years of age, 6 feet high, black hat., black coat, dark mixture coloured trousers, and the sallow complexion, dark brown hair, inclined to red, and stolen boots. He was traced to Bangor, Carnarvonshire, and slightly pockpitted.
