A reward of J60 ( in addition to £ 50 already offered by the Municipal Corporation o£ the borough of Wakefield), will be paid by the Government to any person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the murderer or murderers of Eliza McLavey, whose dead body was found, on the 31st ultimo, in a yard adjoining to and communicating with the Old Post Office Yard, iu Wakefield ; and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who will give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Chipstead, Police Station, Wakefield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 13, PATRICK DOCHERTY or KILLACHAN, labourer or navvy, native of Ireland, last known residence Bank, in the parish of Neilston, Renfrewshire, charged with murder at Paisley : he is about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, stout made, fair complexion, light hair cut very short, email sandy whis ers and moustache, broad ruddy face, short flat nose, scar across bridge of nose, scar on centre of u, per lip parting moustache, speaks with an English accent, and a little through bis nose ; dressed in dirty moleskin trousers, dark grey coat or jacket, but may be wearing moleskin jacket or navvy slop, blue bonnet with peak, and heavy navvy boots. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Renfrew- shire, County Police Office, Paisley, who holds & warrant for his apprehension.— Botc- street, June 6. ampton, was broken into during the absence of the family, and the following property stolen : 1 lady's mourning Brooch, set in pearls. 1 mourning Ring, with inscription ' Ann Anthony, died April 1st, 1851.' 1 gold Chain, with Eye- glass attached, link pattern, link broken, tied with white cotton, 1 flat oval Snuff- box, • J. T.' on lid, inside washed with gold. 1 gold Ring, set with small white stone. 1 siiver link Bracelet, with small padlock. 1 pair of Ear- rings, with small drops, 13 yards of new black Silk. 1 light silk Dress, with black lace flouoce. 1 plain brown silk Dress. Information to be given to Head Constable Breary, South- ampton.— Bow- street, June 15. During the night of the 5th instant, the Etewash Hotel, Langley Mill, Heanor, kept by Mr. William Fletcher, was burglariously broken aud entered, and the following money and property stolen : 10s in Silver and Copper ; a Decanter of pale Brandy ; a pint of Gingerette iu a Bottle ; a Brandy Keg, containing about, 2 quarts of Brandy; several Bottles of Lemonade ; a Bottle of Champagne, marked on the cork ' Morta so a Box of Cigars, about 100, having the word ' Dimes' on the lid, and on the end the word ' Brow.' The decanter is figured with red and white flowers, the keg and a window blind were found a short way from the Inn. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Fletcher, to Superintendent Rust, Coumy Police Office, Heanor, to Sergeant Hollingworth, Heanor, or any of the County Police Stations ; and any person giving such information, so that the offender or offenders shall be convicted, will be rewarded for their trouble.— Bow- street, June 13, Stolen by means of housebreaking on the night of the 8th or morning of the 9th instant, from a dwelling- house in Forfar: a silver Cup, vase pattern, holds about a pint, bearing the inscription ' Presented to Colour Sergeant John Mair, by Captain F. G. C. Halket, 71st High' 1. Lt. Infty.,& c.;' a silver snuff Box, bearing an inscription ' Presented to Sergeant Major John Mair, Edinburgh County Militia, by the Staff Sergeants of tbe Royal Perthshire Rifles, & c.;' a small breech loading pea Rifle, diameter of barrel about a J of an inch, and about 3 teet long, sighted for 100 yards ; a brace of pocket Pistols, very small size, smooth barrels, and recently fitted for percussion caps, the barrels newly done up ; two electro- plated pint Pots, with glass bottoms, quite new ; a silver mounted malacca Cane, beaiing the inscription ' Presented to Sergeant Major John Mair, by the Staff Sergeants, Edinburgh County Militia, as a mark of esteem on his leaving the Regiment, and about a dozen of house door Keys. Information to be given to Super- intendent Stirling, Borough Police, Forfar,— Bow- ilreet, June 13. On the night of the 8: h instant the residence of W. B. Waterlow, Esq., of High Trees, R d Hill, was feloniously broken and entered, and two cabinets broken open, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a complete set of Billiard, Pyramid, and Pool Balls, and a q lantity of Cigars. £ 25 reward will be paid as follows: £ 10 ca the apprehension of the offender or offenders, and the residua on his or their conviction. Description of a man who broke and entered a dwelling- house at Whitley, near Reading, between 3 and 6 p. m. on the 6th instant, and stole a pair of shooting Boots, lace up in front, toe- capped, and ' D. C.' stamped in the hollow of the boots at bottom, the property of George Bloomfield : a tramping boot- closer, who gave his name at the Borough Police Station, Reading, as ARTHUR CAWTHORN, 28 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, stout make, dark stiff hair which stands upright on head, large head, no whiskers, and sandy moustache; dressed in old brown jacket and waistcoat, had no necktie or cap when he left Reading, and he is supposed to be wearing the stolen boots, as a pair of old ones were left on the premises. Stolen on the night of the 8th instant, from a field at Beighton, near Eckington, a dark brown mare Pony, 12 hands high, 5 years old, and in good condition, the property of Mr. W. H. Stones, of Beighton. Information to be given to Inspector Hallam, County Police Station, Eckington, Chester- field, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, June 13. Stolen from a field at the Valley Farm, in the parish of Llaverley, on the night of the 7th or early the following morn- ing, the pioperty of Mr. Richard Bourne, farmer, a Ewe and Lamb of the Shropshire breed: the ewe marked ' R. B.' and shorn. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth. Salop.— Low- street, June 13. Stolen from a field at Dobcross, Saddleworth, Yorkshire, on the night of the 5th instant: a brown mare Pony, aged, 13 hands higii, steps ratht r short with near hind leg, has a small star on forehead, switch. tail, a little hair off each ' huggan,* aud is in rather low condition, the property of George Wood, of Dobcross, butcher. £ 1 reward will be paid for the conviction of the offender or offenders, and the recovery of the mare. Stolen during the night of the 4th instant, from a § eld in the parish ot Crowfield, a half- bred Hampshire Ewe, 2 years old, black face, marked with a black spot on the shoulder, and a raw place on the hip. the property of Mr. Charles Wright, of Crowfield. Information to be given to Police Constable Bourne, Constabulary Station, Stoneham, Aspall, East Suffolk. — Bow- street, June 10. On tbe night of the 6th instant, a Sheep was killed, and the skin and carcase taken away from a field in the parish of Overbury, the property of Mr. Smith, of Kemerton. ARSON AID WILFUL BURNING- Committed for trial at the next York Assizes, charged with wilfully and maliciously setting fire to a stack of Wheat Straw, the property of Mr, Francis R. Foster, of Little Brittin, Gristhorpe, in the parish of Filey, on the 6th instant, where > y from 15 to 20 tons were consumed : THOMAS DAY, states he is a butcher, and a native of Leeds, and has lodged with his brother- in- law, Henry Kid, of No. 24, Carver- street, York- street, Leeds, he is 35 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, dark brown hair, and dark whiskers down face aud under chin, grey eyeB, fresh complexion, stout built, has a cut mark on back of left hand, below forefinger joint ; dresBed in a long blue smock, dark mixture striped cloth vest, corduroy trousers, rough brown wool cap, and lace- up boots, kid tops, patent leather up fronts, and brass eyelets, with fancy perforated toe caps. In- formation to be given to Inspector Metcalfe, North Riding Constabulary, Palsgrave, Scarborough.— Boo street, June 13. Between 9 am. and 6 p. m. < n the 10th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Strutt, of Poynton, Cheshire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : five silver Table Spoons, marked ' SINEMACWLA,' shell pattern ; six electro- plated Des3eri Spoons; eleven electro- plated Tea Spoons ; six electro- plated Forks, two sizes ; a pair of men's Boots, with brass lace holes ; a blue cloth Jacket and Vest, bound wiih black silk braid f of au inch wide, two pockets behind, two imitation poci< eui outside, and a breaat pocket, vest two poaisets and watch pocket; a blue cloth Overcoat, black quilted lining, bound with black silk braid, two outside pockets and ticket pocket, and one inside breast pocket. The thief is supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes, as he left an old Jacket, Vest, snd pa r of Boots in the house, Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson. Stolen from the person of David Rowley, at a public house in Nuneaton, on the 2nd instant: a small sized silver Watch, white dial, engine turned case, double b. icked, pair of holes jewelled, side capped, with ' A Salt, 1870' engraved on plate inside, nearly new. CfEaii. a¥ AND) SlOCSl BHJiAli 113 Bef, wt' « i\* 2 a d 8' 30 p. m. on the 13th instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Oakley, of Belle Vue, South- Description of au Irishman, who is charged at Runcorn with burglary, on the night of the 6th instant : he is 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale complexion, brown hair which is very thin in front, from fevtr ; dressed in a suit of dark cloth clothes, cap and clogs, frequents low lodging houses with an Irishwoman, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fresh complexion, slightly pockpitted, sandy hair ; dressed in a black shawl, with coloured border, light print dress, black straw bonnet with black velvet front, and boots with elastic sides. Information to be given to Superintendent, Egerton, Town Hail, Runcorn, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 10. During the night of the 6th instant, the dwelling- house of Alfred Lowe, Esq., of Chorley, near Macclesfield, Cheshire, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein: first volume of Baine's History of Lancashire, new work; three volumes of ' Forget- me- not,' bound in crimson silk ; three drawing- room Scrap Books; two volumes of Stanley's Birds ; one volume of Language on Flowers ; a large Prayer Book, gilt edges; Views of Derbyshire; one volume Maria Huntley ; and sundry other Books, Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, County Constabulary Office, Macclesfield, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 10. sBL& mim A'iTB CATTLE STEALING. Stolen during the night of the 8th iostant, from a field near Watt Villa- street, Smethwick, the property of William Dodd, of Rolfe- street, Smethwick : a bay horse Pony, 13 hands high, switch tail, short mane, aged, and in good condition. In- formation to be given to Inspector Ordish, Police Station, Stafford.— Bow- street, June 15. Stolen from a field at Shenstone/ on the night of the 8th instant,, the property of Mr. Thomas Vernon, butcher : a dapple bay Mare, about 5 years old, 15 hands 2 inches high, two white taddle girth marks on near side, black legs, about half bred, good actioo, in good condition, and switch tail. In- formation to be given to Sergeant Bason, Shenstone, near Lichfield, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June IB. Stolen on the night of the 9th instant: a black Gelding, 4 years old, 1C hands high, branded with horse's shoe on off side, under saddle, wart inside off hind leg, unshod, in good condition ; supposed led away from a farm yard by a man, riding another horse.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, June 15. Description of JOHN PICKSTOCK, for whose apprehen- sion a warrant is issued, on a charge of stealing at the parish of Berrington, Salop, on the 29th ultimo, a Mare, since recovered, the property of Mr. Thomas Pool, of that place : he is 18 years of age, 5 feet 4| inches high, sallow complexion, hazel eyes, brown hair, a native of Tibberton, Salop, labourer ; dressed when last seen in light trousers, with dark btripe down the side, dark jacket, brown soft billycock hat, and wore a pair of militia boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Caswell, County Police Office, Shrewsbury, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 8. Stolen during the night of the 4th instant, from fields ithin the Borough of Walsall: A light dun coloured Horse, aged, wound on rump. A grey Horse, aged, wound on off hind leg and neck. A dark brown Horse, aged, white star on face, near hind fetlock white, and short thick tail. Information to be given to Head Constable Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire.— Boio- sireet, June 8. Stolen during the night of the 2nd instant, from a field on the Coronation- road, Bedminster, a brown Mare, about 15 hands high, off hind foot white, white spot in forehead, and high bred. Also a bay Colt, about 16 hands high, scar on off hind leg. Information to be given to Inspector Black, Police Station, Bedminster, Bristol.— Bow- street, June 8. ' 3 white Petticoats, one deep flounce scolloped at bottom, another with pocket, and the other corded. 12 white pocket Handkerchiefs. 5 Towels. 1 small table Cloth. 1 pair of white Cuffs, some of the articles are marked 4 E. D.' in red cotton, some 4 E Davidson' in ink. £ 3 in Gold. 1 black American cloth Box, studded with brass nails, size 4 feet by 2 feet. By a woman, 26 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, short nose, with wart on one side; dressed in gome of the stolen clothes ; supposed gone to Portsmouth.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, June 16. Absconded from Cambridge, charged with felony : JAS. DOUGLAS DAVIDSON, a boilersmith, about 60 years of age, 6 feet 6| inches high, dark complexion, grey hair and eyes, thin visage, eyes much suuken, and is rather deaf; Btates he was born in Scotland ; dressed in a dark coat, black vest, white cknvas trousers, black cap with French peak, or black round hat, and spring side boots : he is the same man who was advertised in the Police Gazette of the lst instant, as under remand at the Cambridge Police Court, with a woman who gave the name of Brown, but stated she was his wife, they having a quantity of pawntickets in their possession, also some leather bag-, & c, and not giving a satisfactory account of them they were discharged on this charge, the man then stole various articles from shop doors in Cambridge. Information to be given to Head Constable Turrall, Borough Police Office, Cam- bridge, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 15. Description of NATHAN MURRAY HARRIS, charged with embezzling the sum of 25s. and other monies, the property of his master John Dalling : he is 18 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, rather slender, with round face, generally wears a suit of mixture clothing-, and round felt hat; he is a draper by trade, and a native of Creetown, Scotland. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Parliament- street, Hull.— Bow- street, June 16. Description of THOMAS LANGLEY, labourer, of Corby, who has absconded, charged with stealing a Watch ( recovered, at Great Oakley, the property of Benjamin Dixon : be is abou) 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexiont hair, and eyes, no whiskers ; dressed in a dark coat or jacket, an old brown vest, a pair of old light trousers, mended at the knee and seat, old lace- up boots with several slits in the fronts, the clothes much worn and ragged, and of very dirty appear- ance. He left Corby on the 4th instant, stating that he was going into Yorkshire, near Leeds, where he has a brother, to look for work. Information to be given to Superintendent Stoker, Police Office, Kettering, Northamptonshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 13. Absconded from Tunbridge Wells, on the 7th instant, charged with stealing a new Coat ( recovered), a man, a native of Lamberhurst, Kent, about 26 years of Bge, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair and eyes, fair complexion; dressed in white slop, dark trousers, and black billycock hat. He wa3 tried at Lewes Assizes in 1868, on a charge of bestiality, and acquitted. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Embery, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells.— Bow- street, June 13. Description of CHARLES SMITH, who absconded from Burwash, on the 31st ultimo, charged with stealing 3 lbs. of Bacon, a pair of half Boots ( since recovered), the property of his master, H. C. Benton : he is 43 years of age, 6 feet 10 inches high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, rather sandy hair and whiskers, proportionate figure, rather round shouldered, a groom and gardener by trade; dressed in black cloth jacket, worsted cord trousers, and half boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes ; to Superintendent Jenner, Battle; or to Sergeant Steer, Bur wash, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street. June 13. Description of a navvy, charged with stealing J30 in Gold and Silver, principally in Gold on the 9th instant, from David Shaw, butcher, at Moorsholme, near Guisborough : lie is 27 years of oge, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, grey eyes, brown hair, fresh complexion, no whiskers, broad face, high cheek bones, supposed to have a scar on one of his cheeks, stoutish built, a native of Leicester; dressed when he left in a dark velvet cap, turned up at sides, black neckerchief, white navvy slop, dirty, a drab or brown cloth vest underneath, with fustian back, lined inside with checked flannel, fustian trousers, strong navvy boots ; amongst the gold stolen was a Crown Guinea, this man was traced to Egton, where he remained all night at an Inn, and left next morning, stating that he was either going to Leeds or Driffield, during the time he remained at this house he gave the landlady 20£ Sovereigns to take care of for him, he then had a quantity of Silver. Information to be given to Superintendent Prest, North Riding Constabulary, Guisborough.— Bow- street, June 13. Description of GEORGE RUSHBROOK, a footman, who absconded from Dorking, Surrey, on the 8th instant, charged with stealing twenty- eight Sovereigns from a box, the monies of Mrs. G. Fuller, his mistress ; 18 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion ; dreslpd in a black tweed jacket, black vest aud trousers, black necktie, deerstalker hat, and sidespring boots ; he is a native of London, and his parents reside at No. 28, Milner- street, Chelsea. Information to be given to Superintendent Page, Surrey Constabulary. Dorking, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— ( Snw- st., June 13. Absconded from Portoballo, Scotland, chfrged with em- bezzling £ 220: WILLIAM SPARROW, a booking agent in the employment of the North British Railway Company, he is a native of Scotland, about 32 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, ordinary make, sandy or auburn hair, whiskers, beard, and moustache, florid complexion, blue eyes, longish visage, walks erect, dresses well, and of smart appearance. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Johnston, Procurator- Fiscal, City Chambers, Edinburgh, or to the Superintendent of the City Police.— Bow- ttreet, June 13. A warrant has been issued against HARRY BORRER. charged with stealing at Brighton, oa the 8th instant: a Coat, Waistcoat, and other articles, the property of William Borrer : he is a baker, 19 years of age, rather short, slight made, fair complexion, dark brown hair, no beard or whiskers; dressed in black jacket and vest, black and white mixture trousers, light cap, and side- spring boots, nearly new, he may be wearing a painter's light jacket. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton.— Bow- street, June 13. Absconded on the lst instant, charged with obtaining by false pretences the sum of £ 25 in Money from Benjamin Dobson, Esq., his employer, at Bolton- le- Moors : WILLIAM EDWARD TIPPING, a clerk, 33 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, mouth awry from paralysis, dark hair, no whiskers, slender made, has a running from one or both ears, and from one side of his head ; dressed in a dark tweed shooting coat, black cloth vest, dark tweed trousers, soft black billycock hat, and strong blucher shoes with three brass eyelet holes on each side. K.' on thick part of left arm in Indian ink ; he states he worked at Lancaster's printing office in York a short time since.
