AlOtlee.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the Bame, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. Whenever It Is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. INFORMATIONS. jfUKDSR AH © MALICZOUSL1 WOUHMNA On the night of the 21st instant, John Miller, tollkeeper at Black hill, in the parish of Ardoch, Perthshire, was murdered in the toll house, and the following articles belonging to the deceased, were then taken therefrom : a silver lever Watch, jewelled in two holes, with black minute and seconds hand, the latter being supposed to be sunk in the dial, having a common German silver guard Chain, of curb pattern attached, has also a Bteel fob Chain, with a brass Key attached ; aud a shooting Coat and Vest, of dark fancy tweed, having ajj red heather coloured thread in it, the coat has two outside pockets with large flaps, black florentine buttons, and is lined with darkish winsey, the vest is single- breasted, with dark florentine buttons, and has two outside pockets, coat and vest are both new, and never worn : on the night of the 20th, and also on the night of the 21st instant, a big, stout, dark man, having the appear- ance of a game watcher, from 6 teet 8 inches to 6 feet high, who is supposed to have been at some time employed as porter or otherwise upon railways, was seen at the said bar. Infor- matiou to be given to the Procurator- Fiscal, Dunblane, or to the Chief Constable, Perth.— Bow- street, December 31. Further information respecting the man, unknown, who was fouud at Cuckfield, Sussex, on the morning of the 29ih ultimo, and supposed to have been murdered, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 6ih instant : an inquest has since been held upon the body, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder ' returned against some person or persons unknown. A reward of £ 100 will be paid by the Police, and a further reward of £ 100 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government, to any peisou who will give Buch information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, aud Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Home Department • will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being tbe person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as wi'i lead to a like result. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Superintendent Pocock, Cuckfield, Sussex — Bow street, December 20. JOHN JONES, alias SHON POBMAN, charged with stabbing and maliciously wouuding Hugh Hughes, of the parish of Llangaffo, county of Anglesey, on the night of the lltli instant; has been a sailor or marine on board H. M. S., Hastings ; is a native of Cwauystwith ( not far from Pontrhy digroes), Cardiganshire, and had an uncle living at Strata- florida, called • Will Rhybin'. He is about 33 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, full cheeks, no whiskers, lightish tuft over chin ; when last seen he wore a black frock coat ; speaks with a South Wales accent, a cut mark on left eyebrow, a ring in blue on second finger of left hand, and has been twice convicted in Anglesey under the Vagrant Act and once in Plymouth for being drunk and riotous. A warrant has been granted, and £\ reward will be given for his apprehension. Information to be given at the Police Station, Menai Bridge, Anglesey.— Bow- street, December 20. fiOBBlSEY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in Bradford, on the 10th instant : a gold lever Watch, 3 plate, centre seconds, white dial, plain back, garter in the centre, 18s'ZJ, No. 10203, with gold Albert attached, cable pattern, marked " 18 carat.' Any persoii giving such information as will lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the watch and chain, shall receive £ 10 reward on application to Chief Constable Grauhan, Police Office, Bradford, Yorkshire, — Bow- street, December 22. ^ UEOLARY ANU HOUSK BREAKING, Stolen during the night of the 28th instant, from a dwel- ling- house in the borough of Bolton, entrance having been effected by unfastening a window : a man's white flannel Shirt; a blue and white striped cotton Shirt; a pair of Clogs ; a pair of Stockings ; two boy ' s white cotton Shirts, with linen front and wristbands, marked ' W. L H.' with ink ; a boy's grey flannel Shirt, with long sleeves, and cotton plaits down the front ; a silk Handkerchief, with drab ground, and black flower ; and about 20s. in Money : the offender or nffenders left behind a pair of old stockings, ana an old Shirt. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Billon,— Bow- street, December 31. Between 11 30 p. m. on the 27th and 6 a. m. on the 28th instant, the dwelling house of John Pennington, of Preston on- the- Hill, Cheshire, was hrok> n and entered, aud stolen tliere- a dark fine loose blue cloth Overcoat, lined with hlack, small ticket pocket in right side, one pocket outside each skirt with flaps, seam down the back, bound with black braid, black cloth buttons, aud black velvet collar ; a rough loose grey cloth Overcoat, lined with grey, one pocket outside each skirt with flaps, pocket outside left breast, pocket inside light breast, black velvet collar, buttons with a fly, second button from top off, and may have maker's name ' Jesper,' inside the Collar; u fine black cloth shooting Jacket, lias the maker's name ' Jesper,' inside the collar, bound with tilack braid, pocket inside lelt breast, pocket outside each skirt ; an old- fashioned light brown plaid shooting Jocket, buttons of tame material, pocket outbide each skirt with flaps, not bound, much worn ; a blue pilot cloth double- breasted monkey Jacket, black wood or bone buttons, lined with red aud black plaid, pocket outside each skirt, nearly new, and is ornamentally stitched round the buttons ; a blue pilot cloth monkey Jacket, lined with blue and black plaid ; a pair of blucher Shoes, nearly new, three holes on eaoli side, strong made ; a pair of elastic- side Boots, kid tops, imitation buttons on the tope, much worn ; two woollen Shirts, much worn ; a new soft black felt Hat, wire round the brim, stamped ' Oxford Crew,' inside; a hard feit Hat. nearly new, stamped ' Cardigan,' in- side ; a silk Handkerchief, nearly uew, white grouud, violet spotb and border ; a salmon coloured silk Haudkercbief, brown branch pattern. The burglars are supposed to be wealing the stolen hats and coats, as they left behind them an old hlack cloth frock Coat, pocket inside left breast, old buttons of same material, lining torn out, and very shabby ; an old black cloth shooting Jacket, pocket inside left breast, a pocket inside each skirt, repaired on the left elbow, a large patch on the right sleeve, which are lined with alpaca; and an old bb. ck silk Hat, with turned- up brim, his ' Husband's, 12s. Oil,' stamped inside the lining. Information to be given to Superintendent Egerton, Runcorn, or to Serjeant Morris, Stockton Heath, near Warrington.— Bow- street, December 31. During the night of the 25th instant, the office of Mr. Samuel Ginders, of Ingestre, near Stafford, was broken into, the door having been forced open with a ^- inch jemmy, and £ 80 in Gold and Silver, in two dark yellow linen bags stolen. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bergen, Staffordshire Constabulary, Forebridge.— Bow street, Decem- ber 29. On the 23rd instant, the house of William Chappell, Esq, Winkfield. was burplariously entered, and the following articles stolen : a double barrel Gun, breech loader, maker Fuller, No. 899, crest— arm and viper, initials on a small silver plate ' W. C.;' 32 Cartridges ; five pairs of men's balmoral Boots ; a Brighton beaver Overcoat, velvet collar, and silk linings ; a light blue Overcoat, velvet collar ; a lady's brown Waterproof, with Cape, lias pockets at the side, buttons down the front with black buttons, and trimmed with black braid, has been repaired at the back undercaie; and a lady's velveteen Jacket ; a pair of lady's elastic- side Boots; a boy's dark pea Jacket. Information to he L'iven to Superintendent Iremonger, Berks Constabulary, Maidenhead.— Bow- street, December 29. Between 4 and 7 30 p. m. on the 26th instant the'dwelling- house of Mr. F. H. Chilton, of Stanhope- road, Darlington, was broken into, and the following property stolen therein : A gold Geneva Watch, ' M. A. B.' engraved inside case, a gold secret link Guard attached. A gold Brooch set with topaze. A small silver Brooch, shape of anchor. A pair of gold Ear- rings. 4 ladies' gold Rings, one set round with turquoise, and a small diamond in centre, one set with carbuncles, one ditto with emerald and pearl in centre, the other a signet Ring, shape of heart. A small finger Ring set with carbuncles, has been repaired. 3 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' J. A, B.,' plain pattern. 2 pairs of silver Sugar Tongs, one marked ' H. J. R.,' the other ' J. A. B.' A small old- fashioned silver Jug, marked ' J. C.' in front. A silver Table Spoon, marked ' F. E. 0,' A gold Stud, and 6s 6.1. in Silver. Supposed by three men of the following description, who were ob- erved loitering about tbe bouse on the evening in question: one b- tv » een 40 and 60 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, one eye discoloured, whiskers shaved off wears a moustache and imperial; dressed in dark clothes, dark over- c at, liif- h bar, and elastic- side boots ; the other about 30 years of age, abou', 6 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, daik led whiskers, moustache, and imperial, and proportionate figure; dressed in a blue cloth monkey jacket, velvet collar faced with silk high hat, and elastic- side boots; and the oth. r out 30 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, no whis ers and slender figure ; dressed in dark overcoat, white muffler, high hat, and elastic side boots. All of these men 6poke the south country dialect. Information to be given to Superintendent Rogers, Police Office, Darlington.— Bow- street, December 27. Description of two men charged with breaking into a watchmaker's shop at Gloucester, on the morning of the 14th instant, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 20th instant, and who are now supposed to be at work at some waggon or other works, in or near Oldbury : one is about 22 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, thin made ; dressed in a pea overcoat, billycock hat, rather wide in the brim ; tbe other about 22 years of « ge, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches higb, thin made ; dressed in dark clothes, blue cloth French cap, with peak, standing straight out; about 1 o'clock on the night of tbe 14th instant, two Police Officers ot. duty in Bristol street, Birmingham, saw two men who made off. the Constables chased them through several streets, but ultimately lost them, in their flight they dropped 14 out of the 16 stolen Watches. £ 6 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information that will lead to the anprehension and conviction of the offenders, and recovery of the property. Information to he given to Deputy Chief Constable Griffin, Constabulary Office, Gloucester.— — Bow- sir cet, December 27. Between 12 midnight on the 22nd, and 7 am. on the 23> d instant, the rectory house, Laindon Hills, was burglariously enteied, and the following property stolen therein : 6 large and 6 small Dessert Forks, marked ' T.' in old English, shell pattern. 2 Table Spoons, same mark. 1 Cream Jug, has been mended in front. 1 Sugar Basin, with two handles. 1 Butter Knife, not maiked. 10 Tea Spoons, six marked ' T. E. T.,' one of the other four has a crest— a hand holding an open book. 1 Sugar Castor. Tops of two Cruets. 1 pair of Sugar Tongs. 1 Dessert- Spoon, marked ' E. M. C.' 1 Sugar Sifter. 1 Fish Slice. All the above articles are silver. 1 rosewood Chess- box, brass bound, crest— a lion rampant. on a small brass plate. 1 ribbed black cloth Inverness Cape. 1 black soft, felt Hat. 1 small silk Umbrella, with black handle. 2 Tablecloths, marked ' Cornwall.' 3 Table Napkins, marked ' Cornwall.' 1 small Turkey, uncooked. Information to be given at the Police Station, Orsett, Essex.— Bow- street, December 27. 0ORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen between the 24th and 26th instant, from a meadow iu the parish of Burghfield, the property of Mr. John Reeves, of Hore Hill Farm, Burghfield. a thoroughbred bay Mare 7 years old, about 15 hands high, white star on forehead, white heels, was fired on one hock, long rough coat, black mane, bang tail, and not used to harness. Information to be given to Superintendent Crook Berks Constabulary Station, Reading.— Bow- street, December 31. Stolen since the 28th instant, from a field in Burntwood- lane, Upper Tooting, a bay Mare, 6 or 7 years old, long inane and tail, capped hocks, long coat, no shoes behind.— Metro- politan Police, V Division, December 31. Stolen from a field called Bells Cops, in the parish of Little Brickhill, on the night of the 28th instant: a black faced down wether Sheep., the property of Henry Gregory, of Little Brickhill, farmer. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Hedley, Police Station, Fenny Stratford, Bucks,— Bow- street, December 31. Stolen from Taurallt, Llaneilian, county of Anglesey: bay mare Pony, 3 years old, about 13 hands higb, black legs, and square tail. Information to be given to Sergeant Williams, Police Station, Amlwch, Co. Anglesey.— Bow- street, December 31. Stolen from a field at Stagsden, Beds., on the night of th 24th instant, ten Sheep, Leicester breed, marked ' S' ou left side. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constab Graham, County Police Office, Bedford.— Bow- street, Dec. 29. Description of MARK RILEY, a low horse dealer, charged on a warrant with stealing a valuable Horse, from a stable in a field near St Ives, on the evening of the 15th inst. : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark brown hair cut short, no whiskers, proportionate build, upright, an d of active appearance ; dressed when last seen at St. Ives i n dark cloth coat, with raised seams, tight fitting cord trousers, and billycock hat, or woollen Scotch cap ; he has tor years travelled from Wales, through the Midland and other counties, Willi droves of horses, and used to be with Miles Pestee, of Mallingford, Norfolk, driving horses and ponies about the country. A young man was in company and lodged with Riley IU St. Ives, on the night before the horse was stolen, they left their lodgings shortly before Riley was seen riding the stolen horse in the direction of Cambridge and the man following : he was from 20 to 25 years of age, about 6 feet 6 2 UI) 1. i 0 GAZKT December 31. inches high slender built, and dark hair cut short ; dressed in dark cloth coat, leather leggings up over his knees, aud dark cap. The horse is a valuable bay, 0 years old, 154 hands high, datk mane and tail, white spot on withers, caused by saddle, was entire until 4 years old, carries his head well, and lilts and throws his feet well out when walking or trotting, was never broken to harness, and only injyevfei^ r brok. n fur saddle, would be awkward if tried to Mr fifiMu by heel or spur. A reward of £ 5 will be paid by the owner, John Arthur Hopkins, of St. Ives, for such information as shall lead to the recovery of the horse, and conviction ot the offender. Stolen from a stable at Caerbisl m, in the parish of Llanddewi, Aberarth. on the night of the 26th or morning of the 26th instaut, a dark bay Pony, aged, abuut 13 hands high, had a swelling in left joint, near the fetlock, which has been recently blistered, two white spots under the saddle on the left aide, no shoes on. Descripfon of ISAAC KENNEDY alias JOHN KEMP, alias JOHN ALKIN, charged with receiving stolen property, 45 years of age, 6 feet 4inches high, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, bald, large nose, of Jewish appearance, turn. boih feet to ihe right when walking. Information to be given to Detective Superintendent Williamson, Scotland- yard, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. Metropolitan Police, December 29. Absconded on the 24th inst, from Burford. Oxon, charged with Fowl stealing, and for whose apprehension a wairaut has been granted: JOHN TAYLOR. 35 years of ege, Steer 7 inches high, dark con plexiou, little or no whiskers, slight make, and walks erectly ; dressed in a rough dark jacket, pockets at sides, brown cloth trousers much worn, red necker- chief, and old black billycock hat. He has friends residing in Sherborne- street, Birmingham, aud Church Hill- cottage, Wednesbury, where he formerly worked as a labourer. Absconded on the 23rd instant, from No. 18, Derwent- road, Penge, stealing three Dresses, one white, with pink spots, one blue silk, one dark ; two Skirts, one black, one violet French merino; a black velvet Jacket; two Chemises; a Nightdress ; a scarlet Vest ; three Petticoats, one flannel, two cotton; three pairs ot women's linen Drawers, marked ' A. W.' in red cotton ; a small hand Basket, a lady's Umbrella, £ 11 in Gold, and £ 1 in Silver : a woman, 18 years ot age, 4 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, blue mark over left eye ; supposed dressed in stolen clothes and to have gone to Hammersmith.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, Dectmber 20. Absconded on the 23rd instant, from No. 2, Ebury- villas, Teddington, stealing a silver Watch, with two Keys and a Locket containing two miniatures attached ; a carpet Bag; und a woollen chest Wrapper : a woman, 19 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, grey eyes ; dressed in black silk dress, grey waterproof cloak, aud black bonnet.— Metro- politan Police, T Division, December 29. Absconded on the 24th instant, from No. 481, Oxford- street, stealing £ 11 in Gold. £ 6 iD Silvei, and a Cheque for £ 2 : a carman, 31 years of age, 6 feet 6^ inches high, sallow complexion, large mouth, light brown hair, slight moustache ; dressed in grey coat, eld ditto under, two pairs of trousers, one cord, the oiher grey, and cap with French peak.— Metropo- litan Police, E Dvision, December 29. A man of the following description is charged at Bunting- ford with stealing from a public- house, where he slept, on the night of the 22nd instant, a silver hunting Watch, silveralbert Chain, Key, and gold Cross attached, there is a name and number on it; a plated Brooch, snake pattern ; a silver half- moon Brooch ; a small Brooch, set with three blue stones ; a black Coat ; a pair of Driving Gloves : he is 40 to 45 years of age, G feet high, dark complexion, hair turning grey, stuhbJy beard, and culled himself a keeper; dressed in dark clothes, blue guernsey under, and Scotch cap. Information to be given to Inspector Oliver, Buntingford, Herts.— Bow- street, Decem- ber 27. Absconded from Oakengafes, in ( he county of Salop, on the evening of the 24: h instant, SAMUEL GURRIER, accountant, charged with stealing .£' 130 (±' 90 in Sovereigns, ±' 20 in Half- SovereigUB £ 16 ill Silver, aud a £ 6 Note of the Broseley Bank), the property of Mr. Millington, his employer: he iB about 30 years of age, about 6 feet 6 inches high, thin pale complexion, light brown hair, small light brown whiskers, beard, and moustache, and inclined to be a little hump backed : dressed in a green imxthre jacket and grey mixture trousers. A warrant is issued lor his apprehension. He is accompanied by a man named THOMAS LAWRENCE TURNER, alias LAWRENCE, about !} 8 years of i^ e, about 5 feet 8 oi 9 mCUas high, pale complexion, light hair, no whiskers, small light moustache, and broad set.
