HfOfcietft.— It is requested that, all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, Or stolen property, may beftr the signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of ( he offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the ' Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the t'OLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not he made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. AND MALKGIOUSZ. T WOUNDINO. Description of two men who are supposed to be concerned in the murder of Richard Kellett, at Ledsham, on the 20th Ultimo : one a labourer, of Allerton Bywater, 40 years of age. 6 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown eyes, black curly hair, black whiskers round chin, high forehead, and slender build ; dressed in dark brown cloth coat and waistcoat, woollen cord trousers, very shabby, black cloth cap with peak in front, and lace- up boots : the other a labourer, of Newfield, near Ledsham, 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh com- plexion, dark brown hair and eyes, no whiskers, 1- trge full features, and broad build ; dressed in white linen smock, fustian trousers, black cloth waistcoat, very dirty, black cloth cap with peak in front, and lace up boots ; was seen at Sher- burn on the 21st ultimo. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Wardle, West Riding Constabulary, Selby.— Bow- street, October 4. FORGERY- Absconded from Glasgow, charged on a sheriff's warrant with forgery and embezzlement of monies belonging to the City of Glasgow Uuion Railway Company : GEORGE TAWSE, late Secretary of the said Company, 46 years of age, about 6 feet G inches high, rather stout make, black hair slightly grey, Biuall dark whiskers and moustache, and shaved in front of chin ; he wore a hat and dark or grey trousers; of gentlemanly appearance, and is a native of Dundee. It is supposed he will embark for America or some other foreign port. Information to be given to Chief Constable Smart, City of Glasgow Police.— Bow- street, September 27. to Police Constable Rumsby, Police Station, Debenham, East Suffolk.— Bow- St., September 29. Absconded on the 18th instant, from South Wingate, Durham, charged with stealing from the person of George Adamson, contractor, a yellow leather Purse, containing £ 70 Gold: PATRICK CURTIS, 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, proportionate figure, light brown hair, thin ginger whiskers, prominent cheek bones, thin in the lower part of face, rather pale complexion, and a pitman. He is an Irish- man, but speaks in the dialect of the Durham pitmen ; dressed in a Scotch cap, white flannel jacket, dark vest, and cord trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Scott, Police Station, Castle Eden, Durham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 27. Escaped from the Police Station, Altriricham, Cheshire, on the 23rd instant, where he was in custody, under remand, on a charge of having, on the 16th nltimo, at Lymm, stolen a silver Watch from the person of Thos. Richards: MICHAEL BURN, alias SAMUEL JONES, an Irishman, but who saya he is a Welshman, from 26 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion and hair, grey eyes, black whiskers of about a month's growth, has a mark of a cut across the left cheekbone about an inch long, high cheekbones, rattier stoutly made, and has a pugilistic appearance ; dressed in a hard billy- cock bat, dark shooting coat, and old woollen cord trouBers, which are very tight round the waist; he has been living in some part of Wales for a considerable time, and speaks with a Welsh accent, and is supposed to have a relative living in Wales ; has been workiug at farmhouses in the neighbourhood of Stockport, driving horses, & c. Information to be given to Superintendent Steen, Altriucham, or to Sergeant Dutton, Lymm, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 27. i © 13 » ERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Ripon, on the evening of the lst instant, a pair cased silver verge Watch, capped, No. 90865, ' Jno. Shaw ' scratched inside ot the outer case. Information to be given to Superintendent Burniston, City Police, Ripon.— Bow- street, October 4. Further information respecting the Watch stolen from the person at Weymouth Races, advertised in the Police Gazette of the Gth ultimo : £ 2 reward will be paid on the recovery of the watch and conviction of the offender or offenders. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Smith, Yeovil, Somerset- shire.— Bow- street, October 1. Stolen on the 27th ultimo, from the person of a gentleman in the London- road : a gold f- plate lever Watch, No. 78074, maker Vulliamy, shows mean and local time ; and a gold albert Chain with half a Spade Guinea attached. By a man, 26 yrs. of age,' 6 feet 6 inches high ; dressed in dark cutaway coat, pockets on hips, and deerstalker hat.— Metropolitan Police, L Division, October 1. Stolen during the night of the 21st instant, from the person of George Hunter, a miner, of Wanlockhead, on the public road near Thornhill Brewery, in the parish of Morton, Dumfries : a silver lever Watch, engine turned cases, white chaptered dial, maker J. Forrest, London, No. 4617, brass hands, Bteel seconds hand, and had attached a silver guard Chain' swivel broken off, and attached to the watch by a pin ; and a black Purse, fastened with an elastic band, and containing about 10s. in Silver. Stolen from the person of Alfred Marsh, at Debenham, between 12 p. m. on the 25th and 2 a. m. on the 26th instant : an old silver consular Watch, engine- turned case, much worn, Roman dial, gold hands, a piece broken off the hour hand, maker Ralph Goert, London, No. 486. Between 10 30 and 12 a m. on the 3rd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Joseph Garnham, of the Croft, in the borough of Sudbury, was brokeu aud entered, a. d stolen therein : 4 silver Table Spoon?, marked ' Ws. B.' 2 silver Dessert Spoons. 6 silver Tea Spoons, fiddle pattern, nearly new. 4 silver Tea Spoons, old- fashioned. 2 silver Salt Spoons. 1 pair of silve. Sugar Tongs. 1 mourning Ring, engraved inside ' In Memory of William Felgate, died May I3' b, 1863.' 1 Ring, set with two pearls, two lubies, and two emeralds, it has been cut aud joined to make it smaller. 1 plain gold Ring, with ruby centre. 1 plated cameo Brooch. Information to be given to Head Constable Sach, Sudbury, Suffolk.— Bow- street, October 4. During the night of the 30th ultimo, the shop of Mr. Williams, Frodsham, was broken into and stolen therein : eight Suits of boy's Clothing, of different material; eight dozen men's Scarfs and Ties; three Skirts, two scarlet, one slate colour, with fancy trimming; one dozen men's wool Cuffs ; eight dozen kid Gloves, some marked ' Dent ;' a pair of men's elastic- side Boots, a pair of women's ditto, a dozen of ladies' back Combs, a dozen plated Albert Chains, a dozen Breast Pins, a dozen common Brooches, two Hair Brushes, and a Nail ditto. £ 2 reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Superintendent Gwynne, Tarporley, or to Sergeant Foster, Frodsham. — Brno- street, October 4. During the night of the 30th ultimo, the dwelling house of Peter Gard, in the parish of Cuckfield, was broken and entered and stolen therein : five silver tea Spoons, old fashioned, four marked ' C,' and one ' T. M J.;' a grean frock Coat, and a brown woollen shooting Coat. Also during the night of the 30tli ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mr. George Naldrett, in the parish of Cuckfield, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a brown Overcoat, a grey shooting Coat, a blue shooting Coat with velvet collar, and a ditto without velvet collar ; a pair of military Trousers with red stripes down the sides ; a pair of Wellington Boots ; an alpaca Umbrella; two low crowned Hats, one black, the other brown. Two men are in custody at Cuckfield on suspicion, one gives the name of CHARLES DANIELS, 41 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark, stout build, a native of Bentley, Hampshire, labourer; the other, HENRY SMITH, 32 years of age, about 6 feet 8 inches high, fair, a native of Arundel, Sussex, labourer. The property has not yet been tiaced. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Superintendent Pocock, Cuckfield, Sussex.— Bow- strezt', October 4. Between 10 p . m. 30th ultimo, and 6 a. m. lst instant, the house ot the Rev. H. G. Potts, of Llangarren, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a gold Bracelet, a large silver Tankard, crest— a raven ; three silver drinking Cups, one of Indian make ; a silver sugar Bason and Tongs ; a silver Tea Spoon, with a piece burnt out of side ; a silver Tea Shell; a silver sacrament Service; a glazier's Diamond ; and about £ 4 in Silver. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Shire Hall, Hereford, or to Sergeant Shead, Harewood's End, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, Oc'. ober 4. Stolen by means of housebreaking, from the dwelling- house of F. B. Woods, Esq., Heene, about 7 p. m. on the 29th ultimo : a turquoise Ring and Bracelet, a hair aod pearl Ring, a pair of cornelian Ear- rings, a pair of gold ditto, a pearl Broocb, a short gold Chain and Maltese Cross, with onyx stone, a coral Brooch, a cameo di ' o, and a mourniDg Ring, with the name ( Fort' engraved on it. Stolen by means of housebreaking, from the Free Church Manse, parish of Inchinnan, between the 13th aud 25th filtimo : 1 blue pilot cloth reefing Jacket, with two pockets outside. 2 paiis of black corded cloth Trousers, two Vests of the same material. 1 pair of Trousers and Vest, of light grey tweed cloth, trousers lined with white cotton cloth. 2 white dress Shirts. 2 woollen Shirts, one a kind of mauve check, the other light grey. 1 pair of short Wellington Boots. 2 silver table Spoons, marked 1 T.' Supposed by two men having the appearance of tramps, who called at several houses in the neighbourhood asking charity, on the 24th ult., they answer the description of the men given in the Police Iuformation from Dumfries shire, on the 24th ult., for a similar charge iu that county ; they mav be wearing part of the stolen property as they left in the manse an old jacket and several other articles of wearing apparel. Stolen by means of housebreaking, from a house at Woodhouselee, in the parish of Durrisdeer, between 2 and 3T5 p. m. on the 21st ultimo : A blue pilot or witney cloth top Coat, single breasted, black cloth buttons under fly, velvet collar, lined with red and black checked woollen clotb, pockets outside skirts, and one inside left breast, nearly new, A double breasted blue monkey Jacket, small slit up seams, behind and at sides, velvet collar, bound with black worsted braid, pockets outside, and one in left breast, lined with red coloured tartan. A pair of tvneed Trousers, drab and white, with small brown and red marie or pop, fly front, bound round top band with red braid A single breasted Vest, of same cloth as trousers. A dark home- made tweed shooting Coat, with a small white check, pockets ouiside skirts, and one outside of left breast, half worn. A single breasted Vest, of same material, half worn, A pair of Trousers, same material, half worn. A pair of elastic side Boots, soles pinned, and one worn through iu sole. A blue balinoral Cap. A single breasted home made tweed shooting Coat, with a small white check, pockets outside skirts, lined with brown winsey. half worn. A single breasted Vest, same material. A blue baltnoral Cap, red top on crown, half worn. A pair of blacK cloth Trousers, small tear on right knee, which has been mended, old- fashioned make. A black Shawl, half worn. A single breasted Vest, drab and white with small brown and red marie or pup. A pair of woollen Socks, one white and black, tops and toes while, the other grey in leg, and fitted with black and white worsted. Supposed by tramps who may be wearing part of the stolen property, a, they left iu the house a white linen jacket, two old coats, a pair of stocking legs, a pair of old boots, and a woollen cravat. Between 10' 30 p. m. 27th and,' 8 a. m. on the 28th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Robert Halliwell, registrar, Wigan, was brokeu and entered, and stolen therein : a pair of men's elastic- side Boots, kid fops, nearly new ; a ditto, part worn, and have had buttons up the side ; a blue pilot cloth double- breasted Overcoat, nearly new, lined with black, black velvet collar, two rows of black horn buttons, pockets outside the laps with flaps, and one inside left breast; a black glazed waterproof Overcoat, large size, lined with black ; a woman's blue cloth waterproof Cloak, circular shape, frill of same 8 P O L I C E GAZETTE. By a man, about 5 feet 7 inches high, proportionate make, and is wearing the stolen jacket, shirt, trousers, and hat. An old dirty slop, shirt pair ot cotton cord trousers, and hat, were found in an orchard, at the back of the houae. He is also charged with stealings the 24th inataut, a Lamb, fresh pitch- marked on the rump quantity of Jewellery, belonging to Mr. Diggles, of Twicken- with the letters ' C. S.' SJORS& ASO> CJATTLE SKAIIKG, Stolen during the night of the 1st instant, from a field at Penshurst: a black Mare, 0 years old, 1G hands high, a small patch near the off hind hock, without hair, of the light cart breed, and a little white at. the top of one of the hind hoofs, the property of Mr John Barnett. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Dance, Police Court, Tunbridge, Kent.— Bow- street, Octob r 4. Stolen on the night of the 2nd instant, from a field near Wrexham, a dark bay mare Pony, aged, about 13* hands high, black legs, star on forehead, remarkably round thick neck, and in good condition. A few days ago a cow was also stolen near the same plac*, which was recovered at Oswestry, but the offender, who is said to have a blue mark on the bridge of his nose, has not been apprehended ; it is supposed that the same person has stolen the pony, Iaforuiatiou to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, County Police Office, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bow- ttreet, Oc. obcr 4. Supposed stolen from the turnpike- road at Eckington, during the night of the 17th ultimo, the property of Wrn. Smith, hawker, Chesterfield, a b ack mare Pony, 8 years old. in good condition, saddle marks on near side, sand cracks in off hind leg, and long tail. Stolen on the night of the 27th ultimo, from the borough of Cambridge, a dark brown Horse, about 16 hands high 8 years old, black legs, and snull white s'ar on forehead. Stolen from a field between Llandilo Farmhonse and the Swan Inn public- house, in the parish of Coloa, Radnorshire, on the night of the 23rd ultimo, six Ewes, marked with pitch on each side with the letters 4 R. D.,' ears cropped a little, and notched underneath, the property of Mr. Richard Davies Information to be given to Superintendent Constance, Penybont, Police Station, or to Po. ice Constable Edwards, Gladestry, Radnorshire— Bow- slreet, October 1. Stolen from the Clee Hills, about the 18th nit.: a brown or bay mare Pony, rising 2 years old, with cropped tail and white stripe down the face, about 12 hands high, burn maik letter * H * nnder the mane and on the two fore feet. Who- ever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehen- sion and conviction of the offender or offenders shall receive £ 1 reward. Stolen from Iscoyd, Flintshire, on the 25th ultimo, the property of James Price, a dark brown horse Donkey, with a white muzzle, has a sand crack in one fore hoof underneath the hair, and in gnod condition. Information to be given to Police Constable Mathews, Bronington, Flintshire. — Bow- street, October 1. Supposed stolen from a field in the parish of Weston Favell, near Northampton, on the 25th ultimo, the property of Mr. Thomas Parnell, Northampton, eleven old ewe Sheep, marked with raddle on the shoulder and some on the hips, one of them has black face and legs, and its knees are sore. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Bailie, Weedon, or to Inspector Williamson, Couaty Police Station, Northampton. — Bow- street, October 1. Stolen on the 2Gth instant, from a field at Heath and Reach, near Leighton Buzzard, twenty half- bred Ewes, most, of them are branded on the near side with the letters ' B W.', have lately been dipped, in good condition, and have been recently trimmed. Information to be given to the Superinten- dent of Police, Leighton Buzzard.— Boio- street, September 29. Stolen at Southal), between the 1st and 2nd instant: a bay Mare, 7 years old, about 16 hands high, has a piece of skin off over one eve, two shear marks on the near shoulder, the hair rubbed off the off flank, and a little rubbed by the saddle girth, under the belly. A reward of £ 6 is offered for the recovery of the mare, and conviction of the offender or offenders Information to be given to David Davies, Pumpsaint, Landilo, South Wales.— Bow- slreet, September 29. Stolen from a field in the parish of Hadlow, during the night of the 27th instant, a dark chesnut Mare, 14 hands high, aged, both knees broken, a black patch on near side, and white star on forehead. Supposed by two men : one tall and of fair complexion ; the orher short and dark. They were accom- panied by a gipsy woman with a child about six months old, and had with them an old light c* rt without tailboard. Sup- posed to come from the neighbourhood of Croydon. Absconded from the borough of Ipswich, on the 10th ult, charged with stealing £ 108, the monies of william Lambourn, innkeeper: JAMES HARRISON HARPER, alias JAMES HARRIS, a painter, 28 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers and mou- tache, scar on nose; dressed in light trousers and vest, black coar, with silk facings, spring side boots, and high black har, or Scotch cap. and had with him a new black leather bag ; he is accompanied by a female about 18 years of age, short, looks very young, pale complexion, light hair; dressed in blue ninino dress, light jacket, and new light bonnet. Information to be given lo Head Constable Mason, Town Hall, Ipswich, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and by whom all reasonable expenses will he paid.— Bom- sueet, October 4.
