C. *.* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As ao charge is made for the insertion of any article in the t OLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters ind Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular irmy, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MtTSDEB AMD MALICIOUSLY WOUlffDING On the 26th instant the body of a female child, supposed about six weeks old, was found in a ditch by the side of the Leicester and Uppingham Turnpike road, in the parish of Humberstone, Leicestershire, with a piece of cord tightly fastened round its ntck, it bad a small old black silk apron, three napkins, a shirt, a binder, and a swathe round the body. The medical evidence proved that it died from strangulation, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' against some person or persons unknown has been returned at the coroner's inquest. Information to be given to Superintendent Burdett, Aylestone, near Leicester, or at the County Constabulary Office, Leicester. — Botc- street, March 31. Ou tfce night of the 20th instant, some person shot at, and wounded Samuel Beeson, with intent to murder him, on the highway near Little Kingshill, in the county of Bucks. £ 30 reward will be paid to any person who will give such informa- tion as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender. Information to be given to Chief Constable Drake, or to Superintendent Denson. Police Office, Aylesbury.— Bow- street, March 29. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING- Further infor. i ation respecting the incendiary fire which was committed on the 18th instant in the stackyard belonging to Mr. Wilkinson, of the Grange Farm Danby Wiske, near Northallerton, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, and adver- tised in the Police Gazette of the 22nd instant. A reward of £ 15 will be paid to any person who will give such information and evidence as Bhall lead to the discovery and conviction of the person or persons who set fire to the stacks, and the Home Secretary will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice not being the person who actually set fire to the property, who Bhall give such information as shall lead to the like result. Description of a man charged with assaulting a female and stealing a black alpaca Umbrella and a white and black small plaid woollen Shawl from her person, on the 26th inst. : 35 or 40 years of sge, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, proportionate make, light hair and complexion, no whiskers, and has a birth mark on his left cheek ; dressed in a short dark jacket, dark trousers, much worn, blue or green and whire plaid necker- chief, and without hat, as he left a soft black billycock hat on the ground where the assault was committed. Information to be given to Chief Constable Dalgleish, Ashton- under- Lyne, Lancashire.— Bow- street, March 31, Stolen from the person of a gentleman in Sheffield, on the night of the 26th instant, a leather Pocket book, containing two £ 100 Bank of England Note*. Nos. X 80003, London, October 24, 1868, and X 8<' 004. London, October 24, 1868; fifteen £ 6 Bank of England Notes, all stamped Sheffield Cattle Market Pay Office ;' a £ 5 Note of Messrs. Beckett's Bank, Leeds ; two Scotch £ 1 Notes ; and about £ 3 in Gold. £\ 0 reward will be paid to any person who will give such informa- tion as may lead to the apprehension of the offender and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Central Police Offices, Sheffield.— Bow- March 31. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BE3EAKING. During the night of the 26th ult. a dwelling- house in Wakefield was broken into and about 30 yards of stair carpet- ing, crimson and drab mixture centre, and crimson border, partly worn ; a cotton Sneet, some Towels, and a Box covered with black leather and nailed round the edges with brass- htaded nails stolen therein. Information to bf given to Chief Constable Chipstead, Borough Police, Wakefield.— Bow- street, April 5. Between 1 and 4 a. m. on the 3rd inst., the dwelling- house of G. Drinkwater, of Cold Ash, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : £ 10 in Silver, five tea Spoons, two table ditto, two dessert ditto ; a pair ot sugar Tongs ; and a pair of nut Crackers, all plated ; H small silver Knife, Fork, and Spoon ; J lb. of Cigars ; about 30 lbs. of Bacon ; and some Cheese. Also from the house of Charles Lampe, at Cold Ash, 8s. in Silver, about 3 lbs. of Tea; and 2£ lbs. of Tobacco, in £ oz. papers, with ; Judd,' on them. Information to be given to Superintendent Harfield, Berks Constabulary, Newbury.— Bow-* treel, Ap- il 6, nearly new, and a small quantity of Bread, Cheese, and Tobacco, the property of Mary Shuker, Ketley. By a collier, who has absconded : he stated he was a native of St. Helen's, Lancashire, 30 years of age, about 6 feet 6 inches high, stout build, swarthy complexion, thick lips, dark hair cut very Bhort, and has lost several upper front teeth ; dressed in black cloth jacket aud vest, cord trousers, black jimcrow hat with white buckle, elastic- tide boots, and plaid scarf, which has been torn through and sewn together again. He is also suspected of stealing, on the 2nd instant, a pair of men's lace- up Boots, patent leather up the front, and brass eyelet- holes, from the Half Moon beerhouse, the property of Elisha Jones, Wellington.
