Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may beur the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mi. C. *•* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the IOLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Stolen, with violence, from the person of Henry Bills, on a highway in the parish of Debtling, Kent, at 7 a. m. on the 8th instant, the sum of £ 16 IOS. By a man, 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches huh, d& rk complexion; dressed in dark monkey jacket, black cloth trousers, and dark cloth cap with rough band, and is of respectable appearance ; be used a knife, and can he identified. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Barnsley, about 6 p. m. on the 6th instant: an English silver lever Watch, white dial, minute hands. EEY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- fetojuj As Joseph Jackson, beerseller, of Norwood Green, was on his way home from Brighouse, at Bailiff- bridge, BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 8th instant, the dwelling- house of W. Cox. Esq, of Kiplin, was broken and entered, and a Cheque- book of the Darlington and District Banking Company, Northallerton District, and a round brass Spirit Level, about 10 inches long, stolen therein. Information to be given to Superintendent Stelling, Richmond, or to Inspector Spence, North Riding Constabulary, Scorton.— Bow- street, January 11. During the night of the 8th instant the dwelling- house of Sir Henry Fowlis, J P., of Great Brickhill. Bucks, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen there- in : 5 quart and 2 pint bottles of Sherry Wine, yellow stamp on cork, and marked on neck, ' Samuel Sherry, London '; two bottles of Porter, J'n of Butter, a Screwdriver, about 12 inches long, a coarse bro « n Rubber, marked ' K H. F.' ; 3 or 4 linen Collars, marked ' S.' with red cotton; 4 old Shoe Brushes, a cotton Candle, and 4 Rushlights. Also the same night an attempt was made to enter the dwelling- house of William Turner, of Great Brickhill Farmer, and from a line in the back yard was stolen a Blanket, staiued in centre, and an old Tablecloth. Supposed by a man who was wearing two odd shoes, about 12( inches long, one£ shoe with nails in sole, and the other without nails, and carried a stick with a large ferrule at the end. Information to be given to Saperintendent Hedley, Police Station, Fenny Stratford, Bucks.— Bow- street, Jan. 11. During the night of the 7th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Jackson Hugill, of Normanby, farmer, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : four Hams, two dried, the others green ; four linen Sheets, two unbleached, and two white : four diaper Napkins, two plain ( marked ' A. M. Hugill' in one corner), the other two with rims round ; a small grey check Jacket, man's size, two pockets outside, two inside, lined with grey alpaca, brown horn buttons, with a strong pair of leather gloves in pocket; and a pair of child's Boots and Stockings. Information to he given to Superintendent Simp- son, Stokesley. or to Inspector Robson, Police Station, North Ormesby, Middlesbrough, North Riding of Yorkshire.— Bow- strect, January 11. During the night of the 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of the Revd. J. Kenrick of Caterham, WAS broken and entered, and stolen therein ; a plated Tea Pot; a plated Toast Rack ; a silver Top off Mustard Pot; a pair of lady's elastic- side Boots a pair of lace up Bo. ts ; a pair of men's low Shoes; two lady's odd Boots, the ritht a button, and the left a lace up ; about 16 lbs. of roast Beef; 6 lbs. of boiled Ham; and part of a Plum Pudding. Richardson, of Castledon Farm, Downham, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein : 1 gold hunting Watch, engraved on case * G. Whitbread.' 1 silver hunting Watch. 1 silver guard Chain and two gold Seals, one with blood- stone. 3 silver Pencilcases. 2 gold Rings, one of them a mourning ring, engraved « W. Brock, Ob.' 2 sets of gold Studs. A quantity of old silver and copper Coin and 1 old Guinea. 2 gold 8c « rf Pins, one with chain and pin for fastening. 6 silver Tea Spoons, engraved ' W. A. | B.' 1 dozen pairs of Scissors, new, but rusty. A Bau, containing about 40 Keys, various. About £ 8 in Silver, £ 2 or £ 3 in 6d., 4d., and 3d. Pieces, about £ 3 in Coppers, and (- upposed) 3 or 4 Sovereigns. Information to be given to Superintendent Ackers, Rochford, or to Sergeant Hawtree, Rayleigh, Essex.— Bow- street, Jan. 8. During the night of the 4th instant, the residence of John Wheeley Lea, Esq. J. P , situate at Upper Wick, near Wor- cester, was broken and entered, at> d stolen therein : a silver toast Rack, two plated Candlesticks, two plated cruet Stands, a plated tea Pot, a loaf of Bread, and a large piece of Cheese. Information to be given to Superintendent Phillips, County Police Station, Wotcesier.— Bow- street, January 8. Between 7 and 9 p. m. on the 1st instant, the dwelling- house of M*. Edward Simmons, Broxbourne, was brj^ en and entered through a bedroom window, and there was stolen therein : 1 diamond and ruby half hoop Ring. 1 emerald and pearl Ring. 2 gold Bracelets, one set with emeralds, the other with amethyst. 1 large gold Brooch, with portrait and amethyst spray on the top. 1 mourning Brooch. 1 coralline Necklace. 1 gold ditto. 1 pearl Comb, with Head- dress to match. 2 gold Pins. 1 leather Dressing Bag, the fittings left, and the silver mountings stolen. 2 dozen silver Forks and Spoons, some marked ' R. R.,' and some ' E. M A. S.' 1 set of gold Studs and Links. 1 silver lever Watch, with gold Chain, maker Louden, London. > 1 dozen Dessert Knives and Forks, plated, with pearl handles. During the night of the 3rd instant the dwelling- house of Mr. Alexander Clegharn, London- road, Romford, Essex, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen there- in : a double- breasted blue pilot Overcoat, with black bone buttons, and a little moth eaten on the back; also a paisley Shawl with white middle. Stolen by means of housebreaking from a dwelling- housein East- street, Thornhill. in the county of Dumfries, on the 2nd instant : a pine work Box, painted rosewood colour, containing an old fashioned dark morocco pocket Book, inside of which was one £ 5 Note, five £ 1 Notes, nine Sovereigns, two Half Sovereigns, 50s. in Silver, 2s. 6d. in Copper, a Cheque of the British Linen Company's Bank, for £ 100, dated Thornhill, 23rd November, 1868, two old silver Coins, about the size of a sixpence, very thin, two old silver Coins, about the size of a shilling, very thin, two old copper Coins, very small, the box and cheque were found lying near the house.
